I was immediately impressed when I researched Springfield Place in Petaluma, CA. The staff went out of their way to answer questions and to provide any help needed before, during, and after the decision-making process of whether or not this was the right location for my uncle. Once he decided that this was where he wanted to be, the staff helped in every way possible to get him moved in and set up in his new home, including personally going to Kaiser's medical offices when we were having trouble getting some of the required forms signed by the doctor. Without their help to navigate Kaiser's medical system, I think we would still be waiting on those forms long after I had to return home on the East Coast. The staff had excellent covid protocols in place that made me feel like my uncle would be as safe as possible. They had a great set of documents to help me organize what was needed to move him in quickly and efficiently. Their facilities staff was helpful in hanging a few pictures that I couldn't manage. The front desk had a welcome sign up for my uncle during his entire first week there. The other residents made a point to come introduce themselves and to say hello. There was a notable mix of residents who were at various stages of care and mobility, and they were often out in the common areas talking and socializing with each other. There was a guest room that I was able to use for a couple of days to help make the transition a bit easier. The food was surprisingly good, and I'm rather picky. I was expecting cafeteria level food and was delighted to find that the food was restaurant quality....and better than a few restaurants that I went to during my stay. They have a variety of rooms layouts available, all at different costs. We went with a large studio with a large den, and we used the den as a bedroom. This apartment that we chose doesn't have a window in the bedroom/den, but it does have two large French doors that open into the living space making it feel bigger and brighter. We were able to fit a lot more furniture and "stuff" than I had imagined due to the extra closets by the bathroom. I know a lot of people are concerned about the costs of senior care facilities, but at Springfield Place we got the apartment, the assistance of the facilities team, the nursing staff, laundry assistance for towels and sheets, the front desk staff, three meals per day, heating, electricity, and community activities all within the price of the monthly payment. When you add all of that up and then add on top of it the fact that you know that your loved one is not alone and that there is someone always around to make sure they are okay.... the price seems more than reasonable. The price does increase a little depending upon the level of care that your loved one needs, but even that seems reasonable, especially after seeing how well the staff cares for those who need additional levels of care. All in all, I am very happy with the experience and am really glad that we found Springfield Place. Plus, as my uncle says "It's close to the golf course!"

Staff members Jon, Lo, Lea, Asha, Cat, Lupe, Melinda, Lisa and many others are caring and respectful of his needs and those of all the residents. Administrative staff is always available to help as well. I visit a lot and the vibe at this facility is loving and kind. Families feel welcome and there is a great sense of community. She was blind, and didn't even know when food was brought to her. Apparently the staff "didn't know" she was blind. They took her phone, so she would not be able to call and complain to my mom who was appointed as her P.O.A. There were numerous days we had to go in the middle of the night to help her to bed, because staff left her in her chair. The facility smelled of old cat food, and cat litter as well.

He was there for 4 weeks and he would call us begging us to pick him up. When we picked him up he was frail and looked like a skeleton, and barely able to walk on his own. They lost his dentures 2 weeks in (they never replaced them) , so he wasn't able to eat solids. We had to request to move him into a different room because his roommate would scream and hit his head against the wall and my grandpa was extremely afraid during his roommate's episodes. They never told us about it, my grandpa had to call us during one of those episodes and we had to speak with a supervisor and request him to be moved immediately which they did. But if my grandpa wouldn't have called us during that moment we wouldn't have known. When we decided to pick him up it was already too late. I went to pick him up and I was shocked when I saw him. I couldn't believe my eyes. That wasn't my Grandpa 4 weeks prior. He was nothing but bones. He passed away 6 days after. I called the facility to let them know how disappointed I was and voicing my concerns I spoke to Pashion (Social Worker) and the Head Of nursing I cannot remember her name I will post it here as well. (Honestly she showed absolutely NO compassion what so Ever) She looked at my grandpas chart since I mentioned how skinny he was and she said oh yeah it seems like he lost 20 lbs in 10 days.. Are you F.. Kidding me???? 20 lbs and you failed to call us to let us know that one of your residents had lost 20 lbs in 10 days. Helloooo!!! Seriously???!!! This is unbelievable and unacceptable. This is complete Negligence. No one deserves this. My family and I are so hurt. We wish we would have taking him out sooner. I'm begging anyone reading this thinking about bribing a family or loved one to this place Not TO DO IT. This place is Horrible. 2 nurses from Sutter Novato told us oh No we have heard horrible things about this place from other families. This is not the first time we hear such things. My 96 year old father is not as verbal or expressive as he used to be, but he recently made a point…read moreto tell me that he was "very satisfied" with his new home at Creekwood and was "very happy with the care." He had been quite resistant to moving from his independent living facility in the south bay, but it was clear he was not getting the care he needed there, even though we were paying for extra services. After an illness and 10 day hospital stay, we knew he couldn't go back there and are delighted and grateful that Creekwood had an opening. They were flexible about his recovery needs and the transition went very smoothly. He is very content and calm and is actually showing signs of cognitive improvement now that he has all of his needs met at Creekwood. The facility is always clean, and the kind staff is wonderful! Everything is included in the monthly rate: help with showering, dressing, shaving, bathroom help, medication administration, incontinence supplies, so you don't have to piecemeal individual service costs, which makes things so much easier. The best part is I have the utmost confidence that all of his needs are being met and he truly feels at home now.

Disgusting! Sunrise Villa is NOTHING like that though! This is a fancy pants place! When you walk in you are blanketed by the amazing smells of the delicious food from the kitchen, and the dining room has chandeliers, cloth napkins, crystal glasses, and table service with huge menus for every meal! It's literally like a fancy restaurant for every meal for the residents! That cannot be beat! The entire place is immaculate, with no dirt or bad smells anywhere that we can detect, and that's a huge plus. Just the idea of assisted living usually conjures up negative things but Sunrise Villa creates a whole different experience, a wonderful one. My folks have only been there for one month, having come from a beautiful hilltop home on sonoma Mountain, and they are both already saying they are happy there. There are tons of amazing activities scheduled all day long, and their amazing two bedroom apartment gives them a living room, a bedroom,and an extra bedroom for my father's computer and office. On top of all that, Grace, who helped us through every step, is the most kind, loving, understanding, and patient person to help your family through this difficult time. She is amazing! Thank you Grace! Sunrise Villa is not cheap however, and you'll need plenty of money in order to stay there, but it's definitely worth it, and they have created an assisted living facility that takes the sting out of the painful family process that leads to the need for it. I recommend it highly, if you can afford it.
