We have just finished a 10 days in one of their cottages on the ocean.. All I can say is Wow .. The Opal resorts know how to dial in a resort.. This place has everything, an amazing golf course, Spa, pool, 5 restaurants,, and a great staff that bends over backwards to make your stay memorable...

Needing to kill a few hours before dinner, our party of four opted to check out the bar at the Samoset Resort. There was an ulterior motive - my friends are interested in using the Samoset for their wedding reception. The bar area is nice, old school, with marble countertops and comfortable bar stools. Ditto for Thomas, bartender extraordinaire, who expertly mixed our adult libations and held forth on a variety of topics as we peppered him with questions. And the views of the grounds are amazing. We ordered one of their GF pizzas as a snack, with tomato sauce, fresh mozzarella and basil -- and it was delicious. Perfect with our sparkling Cubans, the specialty cocktail of the day.

Again we checked in yesterday for our first visit here and have been to other highly rated resorts such as The Castle Hill Inn in Newport and Ocean House in Watch Hill, both in Rhode Island. We are pleasantly surprised considering it is the COVID-19 pandemic and staffing shortages are all over our country. Shirley at the front desk and Dave the Engineer went out of their way to assist us yesterday while checking in and educate us on the area and happenings We will definitely return to this fantastic property which is a Gold Crown with the RCI timeshare network!

Spent a week at the Samoset as a second honeymoon. Overall, very good. Not sure it was worth the price, but very good. We booked a hot tub suite with a view of the ocean. That was amazing. The room was clean, comfortable. Bathroom is big enough to have a party in. Hot tub was clean and well maintained. The staff was great. Everyone was friendly, happy to be there. This resort, while it claims other attractions, is mostly for golfers. If you like golf, awesome. They offer many other lawn activities, but most are hardly used. We're never did find the croquet court (which was a selling point for my wife.) The bad stuff: Resort is pricey, all the way around. Because of the pandemic, we ordered room service a lot. This was a big disappointment. When you think "Fancy hotel room service" you kind of expect, say, plates. Maybe real flatware. Not cardboard takeout containers and little single serve packets of plastic cutlery served in a paper bag. Seriously, I want a rolling cart with stainless steel food lids! But seriously, those are pretty minor things. We really enjoyed our stay, the food was very good, the room was perfect. The hike out to the lighthouse was worth the time, and the resort is beautiful. If you can afford it, worth it. All told, Samoset resort gets a very good 4 stars.

We a beautiful gem in our own backyard. We spent a lovely anniversary weekend at this amazing seaside oasis. I had a few bumps in the road but with the Grace a style of a high end resort they made it a pleasant stay by accommodating our needs admitting their missed opportunity to shine and rectifying those missed opportunities . We hesitated to vacation during Covid out of causation for our health. You made us want to come back. You gave us a since of trust that you follow your protocol that we went to the spa for a post pandemic pedicure. You also went above and beyond to ship me my left coat. Thanks for being a shinning example of opulence and grace under extraordinary circumstance Covid.

I got to play here a couple years ago while on vacation and absolutely loved it. I didn't stay at the resort, but my family dropped me off to play a round while they went to a couple local breweries and hung out by the water. Samoset is so beautiful and the course remains one of my favorites that I've played in my life. Everyone was really friendly and the holes following along the water with the rugged Maine coastline made the course feel like the Atlantic version of a course like Pebble Beach. Of anyone is vacationing near the area, I highly recommend bringing your golf clubs and playing this course!

I cannot express how memorable this experience will be. The ambiance, rooms views and everything about the place is awesome. I say this having visited at the end of season. We played goldfish, walked the breakwater, ate, sat by the fire. J says the bed is better than ours at home. LOL also I promise no one can see in the room during daytime so enjoy an intimate moment with the sounds of the ocean. Just saying it's worth the risk. I visited this place for a conference in 2007 and vowed to come back. Many trials and tribulations later and I finally made it back. The hotel restaurant is worth the stay and you won't be disappointed!

Boy, what a fantastic time I had at the Samoset Resort during a conference. When I arrived on Sunday to check in I was immediately greeted at the desk and told that the resort was providing me an upgrade to a room with a waterfront view and what a view it was. The room itself was a corner room and was awesome. I had a king size bed with a couch in a sitting area with a microwave, mini fridge and a large Samsung TV. I definitely would recommend this resort if you are in the area.

There are a limited amount of spaces in front with zero room to maneuver your car to fit in a space. There is a public lot right next door for a fee and hopefully you'll get a space. We were in the Waterfront King Suite. The room was lovely and had a great view!! However, getting hot water was inconsistent. We had noisy neighbors who we could hear using the hairdryer at 6:42am, and shouting down the hall and slamming their door at 7:30am. At 10:45pm there were sounds like chairs being dragged over hardwood for about 30 minutes. They do give you an opportunity to order breakfast that is delivered to your room and a time you specify. However, both days I had rancid milk for my coffee. I wrote a note to the staff after the first morning, and they served spoiled milk to me again on the second morning!! The food was also vastly under seasoned. I ordered the quinoa bowl both days and got two totally different dishes. And, my wife's potatoes were completely burnt. So for the money we spent on the room, I cannot recommend this place due to parking, noise, and food quality.

Early in the damn morning. Starting at 6am. They're not even trying to sugar coat it. They legit said it's called the noisy room. They said they sent a confirmation letter stating this would be the case but we looked and double checked and no email was sent. They didn't even call us to get a confirmation as we never confirmed and it shows on their computer system that they don't have a confirmation from us. A phone call would've been freaking nice at least we could've looked for another place to stay. We are supposed to stay for 4 nights in this geriatric hotel. Their solution is for us to move around to different rooms 3 times during our stay and still have to stay 2 nights in the "noisy room". Imagine paying close to $700/night and staying in the "noisy room" as they call it and not being able to sleep as late as you want to as you have to get out of the 1st room they put you in. Wake early in the morning again, and pack your stuff up AGAIN and move it into the noisy room for 2 nights, then do it all over AGAIN for night 4. So at no time during your vacation can you relax and sleep in or comfortably settle in your room. Or even be able to sleep with all the noise. Moving around to different rooms 3 freaking times during a 4 day stay!!!! . This is supposed to be a luxury stay/hotel. Not musical hotel rooms. This is ridiculous. Wtf. I am beyond livid. And they don't even have a manager on site until tomorrow. No one is running the place. Just a front desk clerk. No one to help with luggage or if you have any issues (like the one we're having now). Literally one person that's manning the desk/hotel. They've totally screwed us and we have no one to talk to to even try to fix this. Just the hotel front desk clerk. Had we known we wouldn't have ever booked this place and now we have no other place booked plus there's no refunds or cancellations. It's absolutely mind blowing they think this is acceptable. Maybe if we were WHITE, they would be more forthcoming on providing us a better solution. If you're dumb enough to book here make sure you're ok with them totally ruining your vacation/stay and charging you a premium for it. Also, I think the minimum age of the occupants here is like 80. Everyone looks like an extra from the movie "Cocoon". Oh their solution was to give us a crappy discount and free breakfast and move us around 3 times. Wow, that's total BS. F your rooms, discount and your breakfast. I hope they all choke on it. As far as the rooms go, they're not very nice. Not what I would call luxury by any standard. It's decorated like an old lady's house. Everything looks old even though they said they just remodeled it. Was their vision board for the remodel based off someone's grandmas house from the 90s. Because that's what it looks like. It's the summer and their AC is super weak so I'm dying of heat in this muggy weather. As I said there's only 1 person running the place so if you have any issues then you're screwed. Also the mini fridge doesn't work. Also if you smoke then forget about it. You can't smoke on the entire property. You have to walk far, way up this hill away from everything and everyone. By the time I'm up the hill I'm too out of breath to smoke. They make you sign a contract saying you won't smoke. Wtf. Screw you. I do what I want. I will try to smoke anywhere but that hill out of spite. God, I hate this place. So be forewarned. Don't make me say I told you so.
