I stayed with my friend for a week and of course she made me go and try it. I worked out with one of the owners named LeAnn who knew her stuff. She had me work out with Kettle Bells and we did The Strong First - Russian work out. Yowza. It was effective- invigorating and challenging! I enjoyed it way more that I thought! The fitness center offers various size Kettle Bells, Battle ropes and weight lifting bars. What I loved the most is that you aren't left alone. They constantly monitor you and will show you the proper stance. I got to work out a 2nd day with Jessie. (The other owner). I took my back out swinging in a game of golf. Jessie showed me how to stretch. After our session, I was able to successfully walk out upright. If I lived in Sonora, I would definitely be a member. This gym offers strength, mobility and encouragement. Had I been a member there regularly, I won't have a back strain from my "golf swing". Great place with Great owners! It's a decent size gym tucked away in the foothills, but it was put together by someone who is obviously in love with the game. Good quality equipment. Especially the free weights. Whenever you work out on holiday, it's always a good idea to try and call ahead of time to make sure that there's nothing funky with getting in. So I called the phone number, Attached to the review. Troy Davis, the general manager, made time to make sure that I knew the process for getting in and how to pay and all that good stuff. That is kind of a big deal when you're not coming in Monday through Friday during standard business hours. During the week it seems they have an on-site manager, which is always a good thing. Figured it was a perfect opportunity to check out a potential gym spot, get in a workout, and hit a hot shower. We called Family 4 Fitness to inquire if they had day passes for sale. Once we explained the situation, the employee on the phone gruffly said "We're not a bath house". Yes, we explained, we didn't think you were. We were just checking on the availability of day passes for that day. Again, even ruder "We aren't a bath house". We once again tried to explain, we understand. But you have day passes listed on your website, are they available? "We aren't a bath house" was all we got. After that interaction, I was left with 2 primary take-aways: 1. We needed to research a different gym in the area that doesn't accept less than poor customer service, employ rude staff, or feel that an interaction like that is acceptable. 2. Family 4 Fitness is running a bath house. No other explanation for such an over-the-top, incongruous response to a simple question. We did find a different local gym, and we love it! Friendly staff, clean facilities, and it's not a bath house.

It's a total body workout which will leave you feeling exhausted most days and needing to throw up on the hardest days. You workout with a group, so there is a little competition going, but most of the competition with with yourself. You keep track of your progress. Sometimes we repeat workouts (WOD) in order to measure how much we are improving. It's incredibly addicting, so once you start you're likely not to miss a WOD for anything. The crew at Sonora CrossFit is great. They will work with you to improve your technique and encourage you to get stronger. They have built a great atmosphere for newbies and CrossFit pros alike.
