I thought the food was fantastic. It reminded me of Mexican food on the west coast. I grew up in California and this is the first Mexican restaurant I've eaten at since 2017 that has the same flavor and style I grew up on. I ordered the chili verde and some Al la cart tacos. Fantastic and the price isn't outrageous either. The salsa is delicious and not overly spicy at all. I've had a hard time adjusting to Midwest Tex mex style Mexican so this is perfect "Baja Cali Mexican" as my Okie husband would say LOL I'm so happy I found a local Mexican restaurant I can order food from on the regular. Well after a long day we were looking forward to some margaritas. They don't have a liquor license. The food was fine nothing awful and they have a white queso that is different than you would expect but not bad. The booths are very nicely done (you'll understand when you see them) and it has a very nice, relaxed atmosphere. There are a lot of little things that they did that make the place visually appealing. There wasn't anything that really jumped to my attention on the menu, but I ordered the beef flautas, and they were cooked to perfection and attractively plated. Senor Lopez was everything I wanted it to be!!! We drove 30 minutes to try this place and it was worth it! I love their (white) queso & their salsa, which is simple but flavorful. I ordered their chicken fajita nachos with tomatoes, which did not disappoint! My husband ordered fajitas, which were equally fantastic. The staff is super friendly and accommodated my every request, spoken and unspoken. We were there during the Sunday lunch rush, which makes the great service even more impressive. Although my food was yummy (veggie quesadilla) my hubby's food was served cold. He ordered one cheese enchilada with a Chile relleno. We asked for it to be reheated, and they brought it back out smothered in queso but the middle of the Chile relleno was still cold and unmelted. This resturant has consistently good quality Mexican food. We go every week, and our service is great. We always have a special request and they have learned our orders. All the staff are Hispanic and although not great at English will always be helpful and considerate of your requests. The manager must almost live there as he is a great rep of the resturant and so friendly. The best Mexican food at an affordable price. My grandson arrived in hopes of having, if not a great lunch, at least a nice one. We were quickly seated and provided with drinks, chips and salsa. It took a lot of time to go through the long list of items on the menu, to the point that our waiter finally gave up on us and I had to flag down someone new. It was after 1 p.m., and the restaurant wasn't crowded, so there were servers standing around. I inquired about the size of one of the burrito orders, because they don't come with sides or size descriptions. He kept being vague and telling me it depended on how hungry I was, which didn't answer my questions. It became apparent that he was being purposely obstinate, so, without yelling, I told him I was tired of this conversation and we would just leave. I offered to pay for the chips and water, which he said were no charge. When we were away from other customers, I asked to speak to a manager. He told me he was the manager. When I told him I had come to this restaurant to review it, he started to become angry and said he didn't care and I should leave. I would love to tell you the food is good, but I can't. So I've been to this location multiple times and each time has been fine. Service was good, waiter was in good spirits, didn't have to ask more than once for anything, etc.. This time, I felt as though 1) I was unwelcome and 2) they didn't care about me because it was just one person. I'm usually a really great person to have at your table because I like to engage the server and I tip accordingly. I have been in the service industry for years! However, the rice and beans were cold and the chili sauce tasted like bbq sauce. Also I had to ask four different times for more salsa (I guzzle that stuff like a madwoman). My first time to eat here was last night. Mediocre everything. The chips on the table I thought were stale. There is no cheese sauce given you must purchase it. It is $6.50 for a cup of liquid white queso cheese. Clearly from a can and clearly reduced to liquid to stretch out the product. I ordered shredded beef nachos/ The beef tasted fine but was an odd- festive? red color, there were NO beans and no shredded cheese, no lettuce or tomato as it said. It was a pile of chips with the SAME LIQUID QUESO poured on top. Had I known, I wouldn't have purchased the bowl of cheese as well. In my experiences, any restaurant that has this many menu items is going to be dropping the ball on cleanliness, freshness, service and overall quality. This place fits all the criteria. Was it horrible? not by any means! But neither is a banquet tv dinner with some salt, butter and ketchup. No interest in giving it a second chance. Nothing wowed me. The price.
