This place is nothing short of five stars. First things first: if you're looking for "authentic" Mexican food, you'll probably have to travel to at least Colorado. Max's is the furthest thing from authentic, and as long as you understand that you're gonna have a great experience. Max's is consistent. I've never had anything from here that needed to be sent back to the kitchen. Not once in 40 years. Speaking of which, the menu (and the prices!!) have changed very little over the decades. If this is your first visit, Max's Platter is a good choice. Order the nachos, maybe go wild and get them with meat. Get both salsas. Enchiladas, super Sancho, chimichangas, and seafood enchiladas are also can't miss items. I've heard good things about their burgers, but I've never had one. Be sure to get a blended margarita! My wife and I have been regular customers here since high school. Wait staff knows us by name and is always friendly. The food isn't earth shatteringly highend, but it's good and always consistent. We ALWAYS start with nachos grande. Señor Max's chips and salsa are magical. I am a big fan of the avocado salad and fiesta del sol, while my wife enjoys their chimichanga. They also do the best patty-melt in town. SM will continue to be our go-to place. read more

Absolutely terrible. I grew up in Texas. This food doesn't remotely resemble mexican or TexMex. Enchilada gravy poured all over rice and beans that DO NOT come with dinners and have to he purchased ala cart. Ive had better tasting Mexican tv dinners and would have opted for Taco Bell over this restaurant. We went in for an early supper around 6pm. Employees standing at bar talking both as we entered and left. Nobody acknowledged our presence as we entered or left. Hopefully whoever owns this establishment reads reviews. read more

Waited over 15 minutes and no one came to our table. When we flagged down the manager she was totally rude and still didn't take our drink order. Food is bland and service is horrible, may as well go to Taco Johns. read more

We were seated right away. Our waitress was great. Food could be better. They're super generous with cheese. Best part of our meal were the cheese nachos. The salsa is decent. I've had the pleasure of eating amazing Mexican food, and sadly the food here cant compare. That being said, i would visit again for an appetizer and drinks. Nachos grand is our all time fave appetizer. Nobody does nachos with melted cheese like Senor Max's We all have our faves here but I love the chimichangas and enchiladas. Great place if your wanting to visit the mall as well. Try the Mexican fried ice cream for desert ...yummy!!! read more

Overall bad experience, started with a margarita and they used table salt to rim the glass it was not a good drink. Took 45 minutes to get food that wasn't cooked properly. Chicken was grey and probably not fresh. The atmosphere was very out dated it didn't look like a Mexican restaurant. No hostess and the lay out was so strange you didn't know where to sit. To top it off 1 stall in ladies room which was directly located in the middle if the bar, it did not have a baby changing station which is frustrating had to go to the car to change my child. read more

It's hard to describe the intense despair Señor Max's made me feel towards Mexican "food" but I will try for the sake of others if for no other reason than people need to know what they are getting in to. For starters the menu prices are not accurate to what you will be charged. For example their queso (which turns out to be canned nacho cheese) was listed at a buck fifty and turned out to be $2 which must cover the cost of the aluminum cans they scrape it out of to really give you a taste of Mexico. Sadly that was the highlight of the meal I ordered. Me being adventurous I tried the burrito grande. Now let me tell you about what you're consigning yourself to should you order the burrito grande. Some high schooler (let's call him Andrew) takes an old tortilla and finds a can of tomatoes as close to expiration as legally possible and mixes it with the finest iceberg lettuce money can buy. Andrew the authentic Mexican chef then pairs these alleged vegetables with greasy mystery taco meat in the tortilla and covers it in the aforementioned "queso." Just like abuela used to make! Seriously though don't waste your money or time and just go somewhere else. At least drive through Mexican food is edible. The saddest part was the look on our server's face when she asked the obligatory, "how is your food", and I realized she had to do this while serving garbage to people's faces. This place is located in the mall and unfortunately I would be better off getting food out of the vending machines. 50 percent of any dish you order consists of melted shredded cheese and I don't think you could try to be any less authentic. The guacamole was strangely uniform and bland, and the meat was completely tasteless. Never again. read more

Service was terrible.. Waited 10-15 minutes and didn't get our drinks, got up and walked out.. I guess seat yourself has a different meaning as we were asked to move..
