At Sensei Candy Karate we specialize in youth martial arts. Believing we can lead by example and help generations to come by teaching the martial arts way. Teaching our students how to avoid and de-escalation of fights. Teaching kindness and service to create compassionate leaders. Our students are less likely to fight, will assist others who need help, and will lead by good example in all situations. We teach traditional martial arts in a fun and engaging way that builds students confidence and self esteem. We arrange community service volunteer opportunities for all Black Belt candidates and encourage community involvement. We don't yell, scold or get angry, instead we stay calm and make better decisions. We are affordable because we believe everyone should be able to protect themselves and others. No student is turned away due to inability to pay. We believe we can change the world one Black Belt at a time!

History

Established in 2019.

Sensei Candy Karate was created to bring joy back to Martial arts in our communities. We are the only Woman owned dojo in the Panhandle. Operating in Amarillo, Canyon, Dumas and Dalhart TX. With a sole mission to "Change the World, One Black Belt at a time!" Gospel Martial Arts Union Affiliation and Operating hand in hand with Second Baptist Church Amarillo to reach communities that need us most. Offering affordable training with a club feel that helps our community. Our instructors have over 30 plus years training each and are dedicated to treat everyone student with respect and honor.

For adults, if you dont feel like kickboxing and BJJ sparring , they have cardio kickboxing classes that are taught several times per day. If you do have any questions about you or your child's membership, ask them, and if something like ability to pay due to work/life circumstances comes up, they will do they best they can to accommodate you. They are easy to work with, but you to need to talk to them if you have questions. I train here, and love this place because of the techniques, the sparring, and the camaraderie. Sensei Gray gives students focused and individualized direction in the dojo. Teamwork and participation in class teaches students lessons that can be utilized outside the dojo. Sensei encourages self defense, but not hurting others unless a threat to their person. He teaches children the importance of obedience to parents and teachers and why this is beneficial to them. Sensei explains why there are rules in place in our everyday lives and that it is important to follow the rules. Honesty and telling the truth are taught and expected of the students. While there is a healthy amount of competition, emphasis isn't necessarily on winning (though it is celebrated as an accomplishment). Sensei directs every student to try their best at everything they do, both inside and outside of the dojo. Not only does Sensei teach respect and courtesy, but he practices these traits everyday in class with his students. Sensei is available for lessons outside of class should a student want time to be worked with individually on specific techniques. There are tournaments that students can sign up for and participate in. Approximately twice a month, students practice sparring in class. Sensei makes an effort to know each child, their strengths and weaknesses, and their best learning style. He works with each student and helps them to feel confident and strong. My son has been practicing with Sensei Gray since he was 5, and he has been training more formally in the past year. I cannot recommend this Sensei and his dojo more. We tried other organized sports in the area and were disappointed by coaches only playing those who needed the least coaching. We were relieved to find that Sensei was more concerned with my son as an impressionable child who deserved a teacher who believed in him. We are beyond thankful for the lessons that our son is coming away with and is able to utilize not just in the dojo, but at home and school as well.

Greatly appreciate the help from Sensei Gray and my daughter enjoys it very much. Once she moved up to Yellow Belt she has been motivated to go further. Paying attention is a leading aspect in this facility and something my daughter needed much improvement on and we can see her grow and become more respectful. These days it has come down to the necessity of martial arts for all children as they can protect themselves.
