I was admitted for surgery on March 3 and discharged on March 4 th. Dr Justin Marc Milligan and his incredible team took care of my every need. This was a process that started in June 2025. Because of my medical history every precaution was taken to ensure I'd be safe and I would be able to tolerate the invasive procedure. I think I flew through this surgery because of all the precautions and preparation of Dr. Milligan. Every single person I encountered at Sentara Princess Anne Hospital was kind, caring, knowledgeable, I felt completely safe while my nurses Nia and Gwen continuously monitored my BP fluctuations. Martin was very kind. Tyler explained everything that was done during the surgery and the reason it was done. The Nurses assistant was fantastic. He assisted me in getting up, dressed, etc and not once did I feel awkward. The PT team was great also. I was able to get to the bathroom with minimal assistance but with safe guards to be sure I didn't fall or injure myself in any way. Overall I couldn't have asked for a more perfect surgery experience. Right down to the food. It was delicious and I ate as much of it as I possibly could. I'm sure I emptied out their ice machine! They kept me supplied with as much as I felt I needed for recovery!! Thank you to all of you! read more

This review is for the Sentra Princess Anne Advanced Imaging Center and Comprehensive Breast Center located in Building 1975. All of the staff from registration employees to technicians and doctors were kind and clear with instructions. I felt that I received great care with compassion. The main waiting room area was pretty full with people waiting to be called to complete registration, etc. There is a bathroom in the waiting room. The facility itself was very clean in all of the spaces I was in for that day. The only difficulty I have found with this building is parking. Give yourself extra time to find a parking spot. read more

My OB deliver here, and this is where I had my baby. Meant to take a tour beforehand but baby had other plans. My labor and delivery day nurse was Nicole and I absolutely loved her. She was respectful, patient, and incredibly positive. She explained things to me in a way I understood, and she tried to keep the mood light even though she knew I was in pain. She checked on me often and made sure I was as comfortable as I could be. This isn't my first rodeo giving birth, but I can say she was the best L&D nurse I've had out of the four times. Mother and baby unit was also good. Bed was uncomfortable and I couldn't wait to leave. They were so accommodating though because I had really bad anxiety with the idea of baby leaving room without me. My night nurse, Marie did the hearing test in the room for me, and I was so thankful. My discharge nurse was Anne, and she was great for the time I had her. Funny and reassuring. I enjoyed my experience here with the nurses and recovery. read more

Went there yesterday just to ask him about my release papers from the last time I was at the hospital for my seizures and then they tried to admit me in the hospital like I was having an issue. I said no I'm not having any issues. I'm just asking you guys for the paperwork so I can get a neurologist here because I moved from Florida last July and I have been to the hospital two times so far since I moved back here to Virginia they have horrible service. I went to the Garden Cafe inside Sentara for lunch. They have Ala carte, salad bar, and food on the grill, as well as premade food to grab and go. In the morning there's oatmeal and grits. During lunch there are different soups in addition to everything else. The food is very reasonably priced. I got a chicken sandwich and fries for $5.50... Hellerrrrr!! That was a great deal!! The chicken sandwich was loaded with all the fresh veggies I needed. It was really good and tasted fresh. The fries were hot and yummy also. They have cookies and a few snacks as well. There are condiments and bags also. It's a good place to grab a meal whether you're visiting the hospital or just want to grab a quick bite. You can certainly eat decent for less than $10. The line moves pretty quickly and there's plenty of parking. You do have to stop and get a visitor pass to enter. The staff is friendly and the cook was really nice!!! Check them out!! read more

When I've been to this location, it's extremely hit and miss. Sometimes, I get great care, other times I get care where it seems like the physicians and nurses act like I'm just a problem that I even checked in. I'll elaborate and say I absolutely make sure I never contact the nurses or patient care technicians unless I absolutely need to, but even then, I sometimes get attitude that's extremely unprofessional. I've always heard that originally this was a great hospital when it opened around ~2011, but for most it's went downhill since then. Anytime I need to visit a hospital at this point I make a point to go to Sentara Leigh Hospital. There needs to be some attitude adjustments made at this hospital to make people trust their care with them. (As a fact, I actually have gone to the hospital and left before I even checked in because I changed my mind and came to the conclusion that I did not trust them with my healthcare, and I made them aware of that...) read more

I just want to cry as I am writing this review! I meant to write this review about 8 years ago because my son is going to be 9 in March and he was my last born child. This is the best place on earth to give birth to a child. I received such an incredible experience the whole time I was here. All of the nurses treated me like I was one of their own. I was treated like royalty and a little more deeper like a warm loving family! When the time was up to go home I was obviously happy to go home and care for my newborn but I became so emotional leaving the nurses gave me hugs . You can't buy this kind of beautiful treatment and they were all this way. The care I received the only thing I can compare it to is like a symphony in music. I received everything I needed in a hospital visit plus more. The nurses were very professional, they tried their best not to disturb me, they went the extra mile for my postpartum care, and it was all of the nurses. I could spend the rest of the evening going over all the wonderful things they did and how well they took care of me! If I could give them 1,000 stars I would. The reason why I chose today to write this review was I recently reviewed an optometrist office (the best eye doctor in America) and it reminded me of the care I received here at this medical facility. They obviously strive to have their patients feel the way I do. Please continue serving your patients as you did for me almost 10 years ago, I still remember! I had my first seizure at home in which I dislocated my left shoulder. I went to Sentara's Princess Anne E.R. I sat in the waiting room for what felt like hours, in horrible pain. Finally they gave me a room, an IV drip, and pain meds. Shortly after the DR. came in to relocate my shoulder. Shortly after everyone left and I had another seizure witnessed by my mother. Against Sentara's own policy, I was witnessed being restrained by 8 people while seizing and unconscious. A few of the people who were permitted to put their hands on me were VB EMS, who were just casually walking through the halls. I awoke in soft restraints, at the end of which restraint my left shoulder was broken into "5 or more pieces". The only explanation given for my restraints and broken arm is "I was a threat to self and staff". My witnesses say I was in no threat of falling out of the bed, as I laid back just convulsing in the gurney. I feel I was no threat to the staff either as I was unconscious! I have reviewed the Sentara my-charts, trying to make sense of the time I was missing. After putting the pieces together I have concluded, I was restrained by 16 hands, while the staff were trying to put drugs in my right arm and wrapped my left arm around the gurney rails by the use of excessive force. The Ortho at the hospital who did the surgery said that "I did this to myself" implying my arm tore itself to pieces while I was unconscious. The second opinion I received was much different. Very unlikely I did this to myself without falling from the bed. Which I did not!!! I contacted every lawyers office in town to find out that the game is rigged and Sentara gets to police itself! I have reached out to the "Patients Advocates" at the E.R. They did get back to me, and have escalated my matter. After a month of not hearing back, I have given up hope on that front. No lawyers are willing to help with my case as Sentara has its own "Risk Management" department I have yet to try and deal with. The only avenue after that is the "VA Medical Board". In which if the Medical Board finds fault in the E.R. Every lawyer in town will be crawling over each other to get my case. Hoping not to starve before then. Missing one arm as a concrete man kind of puts me out of work! Two Thumbs Down!!! Do Not Recommend!!! read more

My daughter was sent to the ER on 8/19/2025 by her surgeon following a mastectomy the previous week. Pulmonary embolism was the suspected medical emergency. My daughter was having severe chest pain and not feeling well . My daughter was triaged and sent back out to the waiting room around 2:00 PM . Eventually she had labs drawn and was still left in the waiting room for several hours before she was given a muscle relaxer. No one ever verified medications taken or drug allergies with my daughter. Text message was sent to her advising her that a provider had ordered a CT of her chest. We were told via text message that the hospital was down to one CT machine, causing a delay in her imaging. Someone came to my daughter and gave her some medication without verifying my daughter's identity. My daughter immediately recognized the medication was not intended for her and gave it back to the nurse letting her know of her mistake. NEGLIGENCE!! My daughter was told the ER was not busy that evening. Text was sent telling my daughter she was going to be taken for a CT of the chest to rule out a blood clot in her chest. My daughter looked on her My Chart and saw her blood work was abnormal. CT was performed and my daughter was sent back to the waiting room , all the while still having chest pain that was unrelieved with the previous medication given and not being addressed. My daughter found her results on My Chart . The radiology reported a negative CT, no pulmonary embolism. My daughter received another text telling her she was being discharged to home. Someone appeared with what was thought to be discharge paperwork and sent her out the door . My daughter got in her car and when she went to review the discharge paperwork she saw she had been given something that should have gone to a different patient. HIPPA VIOLATION !!!! My daughter returned to the ER asking to speak with the charge nurse and was given the run around only to be asked to leave by the receptionist and have security alerted . When security arrived my daughter told the gentleman what had happened and he too agreed this was a horrible experience and he did not blame her for wanting to report the incidents that had occurred at her one and only trip to Sentara Princess Anne ER. This is the worst experience our family has ever had at any hospital. What else has happened to other patients ?? This is not how her treatment should have been handled to say the very least. Authorities are being made aware of all of the said violations. Sad scenario but all true . I advise all patients to be their own advocate anywhere they may be seen. read more

These stars are for the cafeteria - with staff that bust their butts day in and day out and food that is always on point. Let's be honest - nobody really wants to be at a hospital for any reason, right? But if you're going to have to spend an inordinate amount of time in one, at least there is comforting, delicious food available to soothe your soul. I'm currently filling up on some chicken tortilla soup with giant chunks of chicken in this 40 degree weather and loving it! The menu changes daily which is really nice and they have everything from salmon and BBQ turkey legs to beef and broccoli or wings. Some days I don't find something I love, but that's ok. I'll inevitably grab a soda and snack for the afternoon. They also offer breakfast, but I can't comment on anything except lunch. Sentara/EVMS staff get a discount, if you fall into those categories but even without it, the prices are incredibly reasonable for the amount of food you can get. Don't go to the hospital if you don't have to (hello, Covid?!), but if you have to be there, find some comfort in the cafe. read more

Those who know me well understand that I'm very familiar with hospitals & medical facilities. Sigh....... This one, I'm sorry to say, is not among my favorites. Although the newest hospital in the area, it's layout & design leaves much to be desired. The hospital and it's associated medical buildings are a complicated maze that always leaves one making wrong loops & turns before finding the correct area. The numbering system on the buildings has caused me to be late after driving around and searching. Once I even had to call a doctor's office to locate the building. The only reason I chose this hospital for a recent testing procedure was because it was the only one that had an opening in the time period my doctor had requested. One would think that finding the main entrance and parking lot to the hospital wouldn't be hard. But the signage caused a wrong turn, which was soon corrected. I had been worried about the parking garage. But there were handicapped parking spaces that were open very close to the hospital entrance. There was a walk across the spacious lobby to the Registration Desk, where I was given a number and pointed towards a waiting area. When I was called to Check-In the associate noted that I couldn't walk long distances & got a wheel chair. She took me to a very small, crowded waiting area that was in one side of the lobby. Every chair was taken. It didn't offer the physical distance between chairs that Sentara hospitals like Leigh & the Heart Hospital have, which makes one feel safe. To make matters worse, there was a strong food smell. The culprit was a young maskless woman eating lunch from a takeout container. Someone should have had her move to an area that wasn't filled with masked (as per Sentara policy posted on the entrance door) individuals in close proximity, waiting for a medical procedure. Why the tight grouping in such a spacious unused area? The technician who did my procedure was very nice. She was accommodating & I was happy with her level of care and knowledge. My problem is not with the employees. It's with their use of space & layout. I didn't feel safe waiting, like I do at the other hospitals. When we left the parking garage it was the same confusion. The exit pointed towards Dam Neck Road, which was not the direction we were headed. So we turned in the opposite direction and had to find our way through the maze with the assistance of the WAZE App. No more procedures at Princes Anne Hospital for me. I'll wait, if I have to, for an easier to navigate and safer feeling Sentara facility. read more

Long overdue review. They do not treat patients as human beings. Do NOT bring family members here, especially if they are elderly. For every one good nurse, there are five more bad ones. Nina G. was the worst nurse (RN) we had while my family was in the hospital and that is an understatement. When a 90+ years old patient is throwing up, she just rolled her eyes and walked away. I've come to this Emergency Room twice in recent years and have to say, based upon past experiences at other hospital ERs, this one is pretty damn good. A few years ago I sprained an ankle playing volleyball and came in for X-rays. I waited probably less than 25 minutes to be called back for X-rays to make sure I didn't fracture anything and was assisted by friendly a PA who did an exam and answered all my questions. I was probably in and out in about an hour. The second time I had recently had a very long flight and had swelling in one leg and was concerned it could be a blood clot. I was quickly called back for a blood test to rule out deep vein thrombosis and ended up waiting in a back staging area for about an hour and a half for the results. Again, a super friendly PA introduced herself and explained what they were going to do and what the tests were for. Much appreciated. Eventually, I found that I was going to also have a vascular ultrasound of my leg to rule out the blood clot which was about another hour or so and then I was just waiting to be discharged or find out what was happening from there while the radiologist read my scans. The internal waiting room was a bit cold and uncomfortable but it is what it is. It's a hospital. This ER is pretty fast and efficient and the staff are friendly and seem to really care. My only issue is that both times I've only spoken to a P.A. or a nurse. While I understand the doctors are busy, for the cost, it would be nice to be seen and spoken to by one of them. On the most recent visit last week, my discharge was done by the nurse who didn't really answer my questions and said they didn't actually know what was wrong with me, but they had ruled out a blood clot so good luck and follow up with my PCP. For however many thousands of dollars I spent - that was disappointing. Still, the staff are friendly and the wait is usually short, that's important. read more

My mom was very sick. Pancreatic cancer. It has taken me this long to even write a view because it's been hard few weeks. See on February 3 I lost her. It has been the hardest this to accept. One thing I can say that most of nurses on the 5th floor were more than amazing to her. We where a few times. First time 5 days, then 9 finally 4. I can't express how much I appreciate the staff. I have personally given birth twice at this location. I have also visited numerous friends and family as they have delivered here as well. I absolutely loved both times I personally delivered. The maternity ward has had about two renovations each time making it better and better. Labor and delivery ward is spectacular in providing amazing care to the mothers. More so, the NICU ward and staff are hands down the best around. I am forever thankful for the wonder care of myself and my children. read more

The hospital is located near the intersection of Dam Neck Rd. and Princess Anne Rd. in the Landstown section of the city. I've driven past here several times over the years, but never had to go in until this year. Over the past month, I ended up having to come to the hospital multiple times for my mom. All of this ended up being due to the same issue. This was the first I've ever actually gone into the hospital. Of course, the first visit there ended up being a few days after the snowstorm we had, so all the roads were still covered in ice and was around 8 pm, which meant it was dark out already too. Once we got to the hospital, it was actually pretty busy that evening. We ended up having to wait in the waiting room for about 15 minutes before a triage nurse came to do the first set of checks. After that, we ended up going back to the waiting room until a room would come available. After about 30 minutes, a room was finally available. Shortly after getting in, the nurse came in and started doing some of the initial checks and then it was waiting for an ED (emergency department) doctor to come in. Once the doctor came in, she ordered some tests, including x rays. Once this was all done, she was prescribed a few pain medications and and was released. This visit lasted about four hours in total. Fast forward one week, when the issue flared up again. This time, it was even worse and had to be transported by ambulance. I drove up separately. We got to the ED around 2:30 pm on a Sunday. Overall, it wasn't as busy as it was on the first visit. Although it wasn't as busy, this one actually took much longer than the initial visit. We ended up not leaving until around 2:30 am the following morning, so we were there for about 12 hours. The good thing is the room on this visit was larger, so there was a television in the room along with a private restroom. On this visit, she was given a different set of medications, which seemed to work much better. She has since been to the specialist and is starting to get better little by little. It always takes time. Overall, I would give the hospital three stars. Everything was just okay after the multiple visits. Some of the nurses and and doctors were great to work with, especially on the second visit. Given issues with some of the waits and such, it all averages out to just an okay hospital. Hopefully you will never have to go to one, but if you do, and live in the southeastern part of the city, this is the closest hospital. read more

Sends patients home without medication to combat severe risks and illnesses. When questioned, the charged nurse and secretary got very loud and rude and attempted to lie on the patient. Sending a patient home with something that can kill them within a matter of single digit hours or even minutes is sick and bizarre. 1. You will never see a doctor. 2. You will not receive medication. 3. You will not be treated for urgent issues in the emergency department. I'm reaching out to several news stations, independent journalists and investigators about the staff and treatment over the years since Sentara never responds to anyone's qualms. Apparently neglect and abuse is commonplace with this company of actors. ACTORS because REAL MEDICAL PROFESSIONALS TREAT THEIR PATIENTS. I will also be contacting the board of medicine on every party involved and filing a report with the FBI. If you can, drive out of state to get treatment. If you need emergency help, I can only pray that God covers you and your loved ones if this location is your only option because the deranged buffoons that work here absolutely won't. read more

Better signage is needs on campass. Took me forever to find the building i needed for my test. I was almost late. I was winded from walking from building to building then to the test sight. The Sentara Heart. Hospital is 100% better. I will say that the help were very gracious in giving directions and one woman walked with me for a good distance. Checkin has been reasonable due to amount of patients Covid measures seem reasonable and safe. Mask wearing and plenty of sanitizer. There are businesses you visit often and you *want* to be the Duke. And then there are businesses where you'd prefer to skip 'em. Sentara Princess Anne falls into the latter. We arrived by medical transport (non-emergency ambulance) and were brought right to a room in the ER. This was definitely the way to go. Looking out at the waiting room, it was very packed and for someone who would have been in major pain sitting in a chair for any length of time, we made the right choice. Our ER nurse was excellent and he saw us quickly. But because of another emergency, the ER doctor took a while to get around to visiting the room. Several tests later that took about eight hours, we were eventually admitted and transferred to an actual room upstairs. Very quiet room and unlike the Sentara Leigh hospital, there haven't been nearly as many interruptions from various teams doing rounds. They seem to get it a bit more here. The room is comfortable with a fold out so that someone can sleep in the room with the patient. There's also a television and a small work desk space. Their free wifi works okay with minimal (but some) filtering. Free parking in the parking deck. The hospital in room food is okay. The food in the cafeteria is much better. #3800 read more

My daughter had a Hysterectomy ablation surgery and the doctors and nurses were amazing, kind, professional, comforting, angels like, with one exception Ms Harlan, or Harlenn who forgot to remove the IV needle and EKG sticker from her body, left her shaking to dress herself, and was rude being more preoccupied to find out her nationality than to provide care. ER visit for my son, no fun on a Saturday night right? Well this pristine newer facility with a great staff made it more tolerable that is for sure. Located in the Landstown area of VB and in front of the Virgina Beach Ampatheater on Concert Dr. I saw this complex develop from one medical building to a complex and it is a shining star for the Princess Anne area. The check-in process was a breeze. The lobby was very comfortable with all new chairs and TV. Lucky for us it was not busy at all, shocker. Only waited for about 35 min which I consider is very fast for an ER visit. SAPH is the only ER on the Southside that specializes on pediatrics. This is the reason we headed that way and several other ped were in the waiting room too. The exam room was very nice, seemed to be freshly painted without a scratch on the wall. My son enjoyed watching some college football on the flat screen TV. The doctor came in within 10 minutes and rock in roll. We had a diagnosis and waiting on discharge. Total time one hour which is freaking amazing fast. I would recommend this ER over Sentara General any day of the week. I think due to the fact it is a newer hospital it's still underutilized. I am not complaining one bit. My son got great care from very friendly staff which turns a bad night into at least a tolerable one. read more

Nice hospital and staff is very accommodating to family waiting. They keep you informed of the surgery process and updates all the way. I came here with my friend who us having a mastectomy and reconstruction surgery. We were given a pager luje you get from a restwgen waiting in a table. The pager goes off when there is an update so that was convenient. They also allow you to go to the patient room before the patient arrives so you do not have to hang out in the waiting area so long. The waiting areas are not bad and very comfortable. The staff tajes really good care and are very considerate of people's needs. Helath care has come a long way read more

This is the best hospital I've ever been taken care of in. The professionalism and caring displayed by everyone my wife and I were involved with was exceptional. On Saturday afternoon, 17 August 2019, I gave up my "man-card" and had my wife drive me to SPA due to severe abdominal pain. We were greeted by a staff member immediately, who helped us get situated and processed for care. Soon, I was having blood drawn, which resulted in me being admitted. I knew something was not good. I was taken up to emergency where I was provided a bed & room, and from there, was taken to get a CT scan, all this within a matter of two hours. It was determined that my gallbladder was wreaking havoc with my abdominal area. I was taken to an assigned room where I was placed on anti-b's, pain meds and IV's due to dehydration. From the nurses in Emergency, to the nurses & staff on the floor I was on, I couldn't have been in better hands. Their professionalism and expertise put me at ease as they explained the why's and reason's of my status. The doctors and admin staff came in and discussed protocol's, timelines and expected surgery times. Eventually, I was scheduled for surgery, my gallbladder removed and I was closed up. Done deal...pain gone. My surgeon, Dr. Jenkins, and his staff were superb. During my six day stay, the nursing staff was exemplary, kind, considerate and helpful in all aspects of my care. I wish I could name each and every one by name, because they deserve to be mentioned and highlighted for their expertise. I had two student nurses who were on shift during my stay, and they were terrific, willing to learn and continue building their knowledge base by taking care of me. If they read this review, and see the timeline, they will know who they are. I truly appreciate each and every nurse, staff personnel, assistant, and doctor for going, in what I believe, above and beyond in their profession. I am very fortunate to have been taken care of by the best. I trust, in any future event where I may need hospitalization, I want to be taken to Sentara Princess Anne hospital. Told me my grandma was ready for pickup. Ordered a 20$ Lyft said they would wheel her out. They didn't. I would like to be reimbursed for my Lyft ride.... Extremely upsetting. read more

My experience at this hospital has been nothing shy of outstanding. I have been inpatient twice throughout the month of December for pregnancy complications, staying an average of 4 nights each time. Let me tell you about the nurses.... By far the friendliest people I've ever met. I have had yet to meet an unpleasant one. They are very attentive and have excellent bedside manner. They are highly trained and I have never had a question go unanswered. If you're having your baby here, just know that you and your baby are in great hands. Came here with a level 9 pain rating they sat me in a chair gave me 2 doses of medicine then the doctor came in and before I could tell her that I don't feel any better she already had discharge papers in hand. They treat ER patients like a game to see how fast they can get them out. They do not care about you. I left and went straight to Sentara in Norfolk. read more

This place is the worst. I'll call it lawsuit city. Id advise all scammers to use this place. They diagnose you with the wrong thing and really push shift change. For example nurses only work maybe four hours. Then switch. No notice or anything. We've been waiting for meds since 2am it's now 7am and still nothing. I wish hell upon there kids and family. read more

Early morning visit to the ER. Great experience! They checked my sister's vitals right away and efficiently did a few simple tests to clarify the problem. She was then taken to another room for more tests. As I waited in the lobby, I saw them provide the same efficient care to everyone who walked in. Even when they had a short burst of business, new nurses quickly appeared to treat everyone. When we left, my sister was very satisfied with her experience. The doctor even advised her against a harsher treatment in the interest of her long term health; it was refreshing to see a medical provider looking beyond billing to overall patient well-being. The only improvement I would request would be slightly clearer signage; everyone seemed to have a moment of confusion at where to go when they walked in. Overall, we are very glad to know that this is our local emergency room. read more
