We have seen pretty much every SLP and they are amazing. Warm, welcoming, talented, there's so many words to describe them all. They're all miracle workers. The owner Ashley is fantastic. She has answered every question I have had regarding speech, literacy, learning disabilities, and general things to do in VB. I've learned so much from her to help the speech journey going at home. The office is warm and inviting. You can tell Ashley is a mom by the additions to the office: play room, changing area, books, all help keep non speech going siblings occupied. We love this office and the women in it. My boys ask to go see them daily. If your child needs speech look no further than Speech at the Beach.

Extremely Disappointing Experience -- Please Do Your Research I would give no star!…read more Unfortunately, our experience with this provider has been extremely disappointing, especially the owner Ashley and I would strongly encourage parents to carefully research their options before choosing this service for their child. When we initially started with Hanna, we had a positive experience. However, after she left, our experience changed significantly. We were left waiting for months while my son was without speech therapy. During this time, it appeared that new clients were still being accepted while existing clients were left waiting for services. As a parent, having your child go without necessary therapy for months is incredibly frustrating and concerning. There was also an incident involving my son being placed on a machine without my prior knowledge or consent. I was extremely uncomfortable with this and felt that I should have been informed and given the opportunity to approve or decline the intervention beforehand. When it comes to my child, I expect clear communication, informed consent, and transparency regarding anything being done as part of his care. I also have serious concerns about the use of children's images and videos for marketing or social media. Parents should be able to feel confident that their child's privacy is being respected and that appropriate authorization has been obtained before their child's image or information is shared publicly. Our final issue involved insurance. We changed insurance providers and provided confirmation of the new insurance while we were waiting for the physical insurance card. Despite providing proof of coverage, my son's speech therapy was canceled and we were told that services would need to be self-pay. We were then contacted regarding an alleged missed appointment, which added even more frustration to an already difficult situation. Overall, I felt that communication, transparency, and continuity of care were seriously lacking. As a parent, my priority is finding a provider who genuinely puts the child's needs first and treats families with respect and professionalism. I strongly recommend that parents do their research, ask detailed questions about consent, privacy, insurance, continuity of care, and how their child's information and images are used before committing to services. We ultimately decided tto go with CHKD where you have top notch Speech therapist without the drama!

Unfortunately, this…read morelocation has a lot of issues with high turnover so my son has seen 3 different OT's in the past 9 months. Luckily, they have all been great. That's where the pros end though. The front desk people are all miserable all the time, both at the OT & speech buildings. My son's speech therapist is always irritated with him and needs to retire, I will be changing speech therapists soon. I've been told other speech therapists there are amazing though. So all in all this location is hit or miss and if it weren't for the great OT's, I would find another place altogether.

The parking entrance is to the right shortly after coming onto the road. The first set of parking you'll pass is the physician parking area. Keep going around to the main entrance. There is signage pointing to the main parking area. There was plenty of parking available, including handicap spots. The most recent visit here was on July 17, 2024. I wasn't the actual patient for these visits, but it was for my mom after having a wrist fracture. They don't have the hand therapy at all locations, so this was the closest one. The visits would occur twice a week for eight weeks. The inside of the place is quite large in the therapy area. It is always clean and well maintained. You could see that they can cover many different types of therapies there. The overall process is pretty straightforward. On the first visit, they go over the insurance information and what the copays, if any, are for each visit. This was also the time to fill out any paperwork and such. For subsequent visits, it was just checking in. The overall therapy process went very well over those weeks. The first part of it was for healing and the other part was for strengthening the wrist. There was a genuine care and concern throughout the process. There were times where they changed it up a bit since it was affecting her shoulder (the one she had a replacement on the year before). If you are in need of therapy, this place is worth checking out if it's close to you. There are several locations throughout the area.

Sentara Therapy Center is located along Princess Anne Rd. just south of the intersection with…read moreSandbridge Rd. There is an entrance to the same road along Sandbridge Rd. by the Sage Kitchen. My final visit for physical therapy here was on March 6, 2025. There are two parts to this business, as there is another business in between them. The other part is at 2041 Fisher Arch, but they are all the same group. In all my visits here, I didn't have any issues with parking. The outside of the buildings are easily seen from the road. I first went into the main building, but was directed to the other one on that first visit on January 27, 2025. This location is pretty close to me, so it worked out well for location too. A few months prior, my left shoulder had been bothering me, and I had a hard time moving it in certain ways. At first, I thought it was just a pulled muscle or something, but it didn't get any better, so my PCP referred me here for physical therapy on that shoulder. Since the new year had just begun at that time, I knew I'd have to satisfy the medical plan deductible first. I had planned for this at the end of the year before when setting up my FSA. This place is part of the Sentara Hospital Outpatient location. I did find that the overall cost was similar to other non-hospital physical therapy locations. The first visit was primarily the evaluation visit and to set up a schedule of how often to come in. The visit schedule would be twice a week. My primary therapist was Kayla Waterfield. I also worked with Breanna Taylor in some of the sessions. Talon was the primary therapy assistant that I worked with when it came to the exercises too. Even though the first sessions were the lightest in terms of the exercises for it, I felt it most during that period. Over time, new and more complex exercises would be added to the routine. At least I wasn't shouldering this alone. The last part of the therapy left was trying to get the arm to my back. By the time I was discharged, that had gotten much better as well. Now that it's been a few months since I finished the physical therapy, the shoulder is still doing much better than before. I may move it the wrong way every once in a while, but in the beginning, it didn't matter which way it was moving, so this definitely got me into a much better situation. Overall, I have had excellent experiences here. All of the staff I worked with were very accommodating, knowledgeable, and caring. That makes this place a location I would come back to for my physical therapy needs in the future. I highly recommend them, so if you are looking for a therapist in the area, you should definitely give them a shot.

Billing Negligence resulting in $$$…read more My daughter started OT there this January, and they confirmed that my Sentara Health insurance covers 30 OT sessions as stated in the policy ($30 copay, no deductible apply). They also received authorization from the Insurance that the OT services (97530) are covered. So, it was clear that I pay $30 copay only, which I did before each session. However, I started receiving invoices around $800 / month for Feb & March. When I called the clinic, the supervisor told me that it was the insurance who did wrong, and I needed to work to make them pay. The insurance rep, however, told me that they did cover the OT services, but the clinic billed the services other than requested and authorized (including even PT which was never requested). I called the clinic again, but they kept insisting they did everything all right, and I need to make the insurance pay! After those back and forth, I called Sentara Billing dept, and finally the issue with February charge was solved. Finally, when I talked to Sentara Billing dept representative early June (we ended sessions in May for the a.m. reason), she told me there were no charges for OT & ST that moment. I didn't see any charges in my Sentara Chart either. However, yesterday (9/10/2026) I received an email from State Collecting Service saying that that I owe Sentara $753,31. I still cannot see anything in MyChart/Balance but send immediate claims to Dept of Health and the other officials as soon as I get the details. There is nothing bad I can say about the therapists but their financial malpractice is unacceptable! How come they charge for the services that were neither requested / nor authorized by me and insurance? And not just once but after similar issue had been reported and solved! We went to Ivy Rehab before and they never charged an extra penny! Needless to say how much time and stress those calls take...

While our therapist is very good with kids and is sweet, each session seems to have no real path forward and no structure or plan and we just let me daughter play and eat goldfish while she's here to specifically try to address Aside from giving me some tips or ideas of ways to try to get her to drink from a cup - none of those things are actively really being tried or, if it is and my daughter isn't really into it, we abandon and do nothing. If it's just about giving me ideas of what to do outside of therapy, I feel like I could google that and save the money. For the $400-500+ already invested - I'm not super impressed.
