Heather called my daughter back to have her vital signs taken. At that time, I was blowing my nose. When I finished, I looked around and realized they had already walked away, so another nurse had to direct me to the correct room. When I arrived, Heather abruptly told me to "have a seat" in a tone that I found rude and unprofessional. Throughout the interaction, she was short with me, displayed a noticeable attitude, and came across as disrespectful. I was seen yesterday with a high fever and BPM. Dr. Fermil and the nurse took outstanding care of me and were so polite. they went out of their way to stay after hours to make sure my BPM went down. they did every test possible to make sure I got the right care for my flu. read more

This is now Sentara urgent care and since it became so, it's gone completely downhill. Made a 3 o'clock appt. Heard the rude front desk woman check in people that did NOT have a time slot, and I'm still sitting here over an hour and a half later waiting to be seen when three people who came in after me have been seen and already left. When I asked what happened I was lied to and told "they all had appointments". First off. No they ALL didn't. Second. I know the women who went before me had her appt scheduled 10 min after me. I also got there to check in 15 min early! To say I'm frustrated is an understatement and it all had to do with the front woman at check in who wasn't "on it" and checking up to make sure things were running the way they should have been. I used to love this place so much and felt like it was an urgent care we could trust and that was efficient. Now- back to square one in this are where healthcare is mediocre at best. The doctors overall seem nice, but the woman at the front desks attitude needs to go. When I say thank you for checking something and you come back with an attitude and a "mmmHHHmmmm" like you could care less about the people that are sick. In my opinion-The staff could use some customer service training. Barking instructions (insurance card! ID! Sit in the blue chair! Sit in either chair!.... ) isn't the same as being considerate or even kind. I came in feeling pretty awful but a lil kindness could go a long way!! The exam room was warm and I was left there with no idea how long I would be waiting. I had a check in appt for 11:36 am. I am certain my patience was thin because I was sick but compassion goes a long way in building a reputation. If this is how they treat customers-they won't get many repeats! Trust me- if I could have gone to my PCP, I would have!! I went here because I could set an appointment and (hopefully) not wait too long to see a doctor. Velocity Urgent Care is located in Hickman Place, which is near the corner of General Booth Blvd. and Nimmo Pkwy. This place hasn't been open too long when the first visit here occurred, which was on November 14, 2019. When you come up to the building, you can see how clean and new the place is. Once you come inside, that is definitely the case as well. They aren't hard to find there with the purple lettering for the urgent care. There was no wait when we came in, or any other patients for that matter. The usual process starts first, asking to fill out their patient form. The assistant came out and directed us to a patient room. The reason for the visit here was due to my mom having a nosebleed for about 45 minutes before coming here. As a precaution, I said we should go to get it checked out. The assistant took the normal checks first, like blood pressure and such and asked the reason for the visit. A few moments later, the PA came to the room to ask about the issue, when did it start etc. The first thing that she did was give her a nose tampon (yes, that actually is a thing) to try and stop the bleeding. After a little while, that seemed to have done the trick. The air was pretty dry, so that could have been the cause for this to happen to begin with. Overall, the experience and interaction with the staff here was excellent, even with us being there close to the time the urgent care center closes for the day. when this location first opened during Covid there were great doctors and it was super efficient. now it's a total mess. first off -- they never EVER answer the phone. they refuse. straight up. so if you need any info on your appointment, any changes or any questions forget about it. it's infuriating. on our last visit after waiting an hour even WITH an appointment the doc saw us for five min did a swab said my son had the flu and gave us tamiflu, which doesn't really do anything. the didn't offer chest xrays or any other solution and now a week later we need them. such a waste of time. read more

Had a horrible experience trying to Chek in! Receptionist is in the back while a line formed at desk. When she returned she asked everyone to be seated. She only asked for those w/ appointments and neglected the walk in. When finally addressing the walk she failed to address them in the order they ( me) arrived. Do not take your child here if the nurse practitioner, Emily Buck is working. She has zero patience for any delay due to a child's fear. My 7 year old daughter, who has diagnosed anxiety, needed a flu test but was very nervous and crying a ton. Emily continued to lecture her in an aggressive voice saying things like "I will not tolerate this" and eventually stormed out of the room saying "I don't have time for this" without even letting me know if she was going to ever come back. They were not even that busy this morning so I'm not sure what she was rushing off to since she just sat at her desk after. She did come back in and brought a smaller swab and says to my daughter "this is a swab for babies, even three months old do this". (read that line in a rude tone that makes a 7 year old feel like you are calling them a baby). We ended up leaving with no flu test and a child crying with her anxiety at an all time high. This Velocity location in Red Mill used to be the place she wanted to go because of the nice nurses and the nice Doctor that is usually there, but after today's experience with the Nurse Practitioner Emily, I will be lucky to get her to walk in the door again. Can't wait for my $$$$ bill for her to give my kid more anxiety. read more

I got there about 9:40am and was out by 10:10am. Sharita was thorough. She checked me in, instead of having to go thru the kiosk. The only thing I have bad to say about her is that she needs to look at you when she speaks to you. But she was great. Celia was wonderful. Explained everything she was going to do and what was coming. Dr. Jenny was bubbly and made me feel at ease. She went over the prescriptions and explained those. In and out in a 1/2 hour at an urgent care?!!! Unheard of. I definitely recommend this place. read more

I came in at 2 PM today and it's after 6 PM and have still not been seen. The last time I came, I was looked at very briefly had to wait a long time for a doctor to come in and they said there was nothing that they could do for me.when I had symptoms of nausea, dizziness, migraine, and asthma. My wife went there today after waiting 3 days for a appointment which I understand there busy due to Covid. First thing they asked her is "Are you here for a Covid-19 test? How about asking what's what's your symptoms and how you feeling? My wife is a medical practitioner for over 35 years and the doctor did NO TEST except Covid! What's going on she had head congestion, cough, tightness in her chest and NO X-RAYS? We have excellent insurance why not the test there not paying for it and she had the symptoms? I was apprehensive about visiting because of the reviews but my visit 3 weeks ago was great. Very efficient, the place is extremely clean and everyone was friendly. I didn't have the experience some on here had. I love that you schedule a time. It's so much better than sitting in the patient first waiting room and then in the back once you're called. I am not sure why, but the urgent care reroutes their billing to a call center. I was charged two weeks past an appointment which was immediately canceled followed by an almost $600 fraudulent charge. Charged before receiving a bill and told through the call center that the charge was cancelled due to insurance covering it. Just due to this suspiciousness of the billing and the very long waits, I won't return for assistance. read more

GREAT Urgent Care! Super clean; entire team was incredibly friendly with my (sick) toddler. They had football on in the lobby, and the other TV had the wait times for other urgent cares in the area--really nice! Wait was almost non-existent. I recently had to go to Velocity to get a Covid test for work. I easily made an appointment online, registered online from home. When I got there at my appointment time I gave them copies of my license and insurance card and was brought back within five minutes. The Covid nasal swab was a rapid test and they didn't even tickle on my brain. It was just a swab in both nostrils. I was in and out within 10 minutes. Then received a call within 30 minutes with my results. I couldn't be happier with their cleanliness and service. read more

Do not go here. If I could give zero stars I would. I wasted over an hour of my time because I was sent to the car to fill out a pre-registration form online. I got an email saying that my registration was complete so I'm waiting in my car for them to tell me to come in. I called but got answering machine. Finally, I went into the office to see what was going on. I was told that I was supposed to come back in and check in in person. The receptionist then proceeds to start asking me questions that I already submitted online and when I questioned that she said that the systems don't talk to each other. If this were a month into Covid I would be much more forgiving, but this is unacceptable! I'm heading to patient first now and will not be returning. Avoid! read more

Not worth getting covid test here. I schedule an appointment only to be waiting 3 hours and still counting. The guy who had appointment after mine got called in before me. Walk ins are being seen in between people who actually have appointments. If I walked in I more likely would already been seen. I visited today, after trying to call and no one answering the phone, & checking their website, where it says you can walk in, you could not schedule online, but nothing was said regarding whether patients were able to be treated for an urgent matter. It also showed the wait time 5-10 minutes. So since I live a couple miles away, my husband drove me up there. There were cars lined up for Corona testing. I was experiencing chest pain, with pains also in neck and arm; and was concerned that I could be in danger of heart attack...I am 65 y.o. woman. When we walked up, the sign said do not come in unless escorted by staff. When the staff came out she wanted to know what we wanted, I asked if I could be seen by a Dr, & she said they are not treating people. I told her "what if I think I'm having a heart attack?" She nastily said " then I'll call 911 for you." Did not ask me how I was, what was I experiencing nothing. She was rude and UN-caring. I understand we are in the middle of a pandemic, but this experience was HORRIBLEl! People have other urgent care needs other than stupid corona tests! Mine could be life threatening, and they could care less! No information on the website to guide people, no one answering phones. My Dr. told me to go to Urgent Care, so I assumed they were open. I suggest Velosity add this to their phone message so others don't go there only to be sent home. I doubt I'll ever go back. read more
