WOW. I've always wanted to try a full-on blonde look but always thought it would be super difficult with my dark Asian locks (not to mention damaging). I have never dyed my hair and with everything being shut down during covid, I was rocking a totally overgrown black mane. Wanting something different, I decided I wanted to go blonde for the first time ever. Anyone who has dyed their hair before knows going from virgin black hair to blonde is no small feat. I was highly skeptical that it would be possible the first time to begin with. Seola asked me for an inspiration pic, so I put together a mood board of hair I liked. I chose photos with a softer brown base and warmer blonde highlights. When seola saw my natural jet black hair she immediately let me know that dying all over to try and get the chestnut brown base without bleaching would just result in fading to brassy tones. She recommended that I do a base bump, dying my entire black hair just slightly lightening (lightening too much w/o bleaching would result in brassy), so there would be a softer transition to the warmer blond highlights I wanted. This process took about 2 hours and I came back in the next day to finish up. The next day, she bleached my highlights. I cannot stress enough what an insanely detail oriented process this is. Seola really went above and beyond to blend the highlights seamlessly - she highlighted my hair in two batches and there must have been hundreds of foils in my hair (see pic). This part took 3 or 4 hrs alone. Finally, once everything was bleached, she redid my roots in the darker base color (this is to avoid seeing your roots as a line of colored hair, and give the dye job more longevity as it grows out) and blended everything then toned the highlights. Throughout the entire process, I felt I was in extremely capable hands w Seola. All she really needed was the inspiration pics in order to intuit the style and vibe I wanted - and she mixed all the colors accordingly and raised flags when she thought a certain decision would lead to something she knew I wouldn't like (brassy). Sarah is by far the best colorist I've been to. I got full head highlights from her almost a year ago (May 2018) and still get compliments on the color. The details that Sarah went through for my haircut and color is unreal. It's been about a week since my haircut and I'm still extremely happy with how it turned out. I wanted to wait a week before writing this review to see if my beautiful hair from the salon would translate to real life when I myself would have to blow dry and style it myself. It has been over a week and I can safely say that Sarah has done wondrous magic to my hair and I love it! From the careful cut to the extremely meticulous application of bleach to my entire head of hair (a LOT of hair...), Sarah did not rush throughout any of the process. We started with a cut which took about an hour and a half. This was a long haircut but she made sure I liked the length and layers, and then she went ahead with texturizing my hair a ton. I was afraid with my slightly wavy hair, the texturizing would make it difficult to style my hair with a quick blowdry, but she reassured me that the layers were long (not short/shaggy - shaggy would have been my nightmare) and that texturing would just make it so that my hair would be more airy. This lightened up my hair a lot and not once did she use a razor/knife tool. She used scissors the whole time which is also preferable for my hair type. When it came to the bleach application, this took the longest. A few hours. I would definitely expect to be at the salon for most of your day if you make an appointment. Sarah doesn't use any crazy tools minus a blowdryer to slightly speed up the bleaching process. I'm positive this process helps her achieve the color she wants to bring out for each of her clients' hairs. She also used used the olaplex treatment after bleaching, and then toned my hair a beautiful ashy brown. Sarah will not only be your friend when it comes to coloring your hair, but also on how you can maintain the look, strengthen your hair, wash your hair properly, etc. I took away a lot of great tidbits of info from her when it came to how to wash hair/keep it clean/dry shampoos, etc. I'd recommend everyone to Sarah. Her pricing is fair, and her skill is impeccable. She's super fun to talk to too, and that's always a plus when you're going to be sitting in a chair for so long! Wow. Am I lucky girl or what to have had the opportunity to be a client of Sarah's?! My really good friend Nho knew that I had been looking to color my hair again and had been on the lookout for someone attentive and able to give me the hair color that I wanted. After she referred me over to Sarah's instagram account, I was hooked on her work and vowed to not get my hair colored by anyone else other than Sarah. I'm currently living in Germany and at that time, had to wait a few months before I was able to go home for the holidays to get my hair colored. The wait was arduous as I was tired of my dark and drab hair and needed some color to lighten up my life during the gloomy grey days of this winter, but it was so worth it! Sarah is extremely professional and such a pleasure to know. From the time of scheduling the appointment, which was such a breeze all the way to getting to the salon. Although I was late to my appointment (shame on me, I know), Sarah met me with the biggest smile and welcomed me to her salon as if I were her long lost friend. My worries about being late quickly melted away as she assured me that she would take care of me and help me achieve the desired color and look I wanted. I had a special situation in that I was only in California for two weeks and was in a wedding in the middle of my stay of the holidays, but wanted to keep my hair long for the wedding and trimmed shortly after prior to my departure back to Deutscheland. Sarah was so kind and thoughtful to help me book two separate appointments. The first for color and then a week later for the cut to accommodate my request of colored hair for wedding and shorter hair prior to leaving. It wasn't ideal, but she made it work for me. It was a joy to get to know Sarah on my first appointment for color. Not only is she a pleasant, sweet filled, genuine, chill cool gal, but she has all the dedication, determination, patience, eye for color and thoroughness that one needs to be a good colorist. Now, that is the perfect combo for what a colorist should be! Having been in prior stressful situations where I was rushed to and forth chair to chair, even standing up at times with dripping wet hair since the salon was that busy, I truly appreciate her natural ability to be relaxed, yet focused and not high strung during the time I was with her. She was attentive to everything starting from where the highlights should start all the way to the toning of each subsection of hair. She was intentional and meticulous with each step, making sure to get the end results right. Now that's what I call an expert and someone who truly cares about their clients. I swear, I've never seen anyone work as diligently as Sarah. To top it off, I got the dream color that I imagined and walked out of the salon with an oomph of confidence thanks to her! I had the further pleasure of seeing Sarah on a second visit for my cut and got to know her even more. All I can say is that she is such a sweetie pie and can see that she is a light to all her customers! My cut turned out just the way I wanted it and I love how even when I leave my hair down that the my normally pin straight hair is not as flat thanks to the way she cut it. I am incredibly particular and sensitive about my hair so I refused to switch colorists for like six years until Seola Kim. She understood exactly what kind of cut I wanted and what kind of color I wanted from the very first session. I wish I visited Sarah much earlier before botching my hair at a cheap Korean hair salon for a balayage. I visited Sarah from Seola hair on 2/15. Before coming in for the appointment, I was texting Sarah about my concerns and my main hair goals. I perhaps texted her too much and bothered her waaaay too many times. But she was very understanding and tried to resolve my concerns. Before starting the dying process, Sarah and I talked about an hour because I wasn't fully sure what I wanted. I was traumatized by how my hair looked and didn't want to do anything major. But Sarah had the intent to make my hair look GORGEOUS. We ended up dying my hair back to a darker color and re-inserting highlights and now I LOVE my hair. I've been receiving so many compliments from my friend, and even strangers. I visited her Instagram first before I make an appointment with her. It was very easy to an appointment with her, she responded right away and she was being so flexible for my schedule. When I visited her the first time, my hair looked terrible, no color, and hair was damaged. It took about 6-7 hours for her to get my hair done. THE BEST! Sarah is seriously so skilled, professional, and all around welcoming. I HIGHLY recommend going to Sarah if you want to get a quality hair coloring experience. When I went to the salon my hair was a blend of my natural color, dark brown, and what was left from an old balayage job (medium brown tone). I had requested to have my hair as light and ashy as possible, which is exactly what the finished product was - a natural ashy balayage. The whole process took about 5 hours and I was amazed at how meticulous Sarah was the entire time. She would constantly check on each foiled hair to see if my hair was bleaching correctly and made sure that I was comfortable. I'm not exaggerating when I say that she is extremely nice and down to earth, which is pretty important when you're in the chair for hours. This was my first time getting an ombre/balayage. I went in with several photos and she spent a good amount of time going through the photos with me and recommending what would look good for my hair. She was very meticulous and spent a lot of care into my hair. My hair came out so beautifully, and its been over 2 months and it still looks great.
