However service was great got sat quickly had and drink followed shortly after. The I placed my order of kimchi jjigae with pork. Then my banchans came out shortly after. They are all amazing my favorite was the Gama Jorim (braised potatoes). Then my kimchi jjiage arrived with white rice. Lemme say it's some of the best kimchi jjiage I have ever had. I visited Seoul Restaurant for lunch with three coworkers. We all ordered the same thing, the Dolsot Bibimbap, which comes in a hot stone pot. The hot stone pot makes this dish special as it crisps the rice at the bottom of the pot flawlessly. There seems to be only one person there until I heard someone cooking in the back when the greeter/server/likely owner was in the front. She is hard to understand and does not give you time so I can understand others reviews about service. The reality is, this place has really good Bibimbap and if that is what you are looking for than you have come to the right place. read more

I had the Bibimbop, and it was delicious. Truly delicious. 5 stars for the food. The wait time for the food to be delivered was a bit long, but because the vegetables were fresh, not limp, and everything tasted so good, I didn't mind the extended wait. What I did mind was how long I had to wait to have the tab delivered. I was the only one in the restaurant for a late lunch during the work week, so, why? The server also didn't check on me while I was eating to see about refilling my beverage (unsweet tea) or ask how I liked the food. Happened to be in the area and stumbled across Seoul Restaurant. My wife and I are new to the area and I am addicted to Pho soup. I can say without a doubt, the freshest sprouts, cilantro, limes and mild jalapeños were brought to the table. Then the Pho was sat in front of us - delicious! we ordered the Beef Pho. The saltiness was a perfect balance with the rich beef flavored broth. Rice noodles were delicious, just an overall amazing bowl of Pho. We will be back and excited to find a go-to for Vietnamese Pho in our new hometown. read more

5 stars! 10 stars! Have all of the stars! Seoul was a bit of a drive from downtown Chatt, but oooohh was it so worth it! Every component of the Bimibap was flavorful as an independent ingredient and even more fantastic consumed all together. The bulgogi was tender, sweet, and exactly what you want when you think bulgogi. And the sides! I could eat all of the sides every day. The kimchi was fire and beautifully spiced. I don't understand the potatoes... how could potatoes get any better? We'll these chilled potatoes exceeded my expectations of what a potato could be. Quaint Korean restaurant located in a strip mall. The menu is extensive and it helps if you are familiar with Korean food. If not, you can ask your server for help in selecting a dish. After you order, you will be brought a selection of dishes to snack on while you wait for your food. I love this part of the meal. My bulgolgi beef came out pretty quick and was every I expected. I think this restaurant is very close to 4-star worthy, but I just think that there are some minor detractors that kept me at three stars. One positive and negative is that they have a deaf waitress. While I love the inclusivity of that decision it is honestly really difficult to communicate as she doesn't read lips (at least for English) and this is a restaurant where guests really might need to ask questions. Maybe having a common questions list or some such to help bridge the communication gap would be helpful. The food was good, but I got the seafood stew and felt a bit disappointed. The flavors were not developed to the point that the $16 price tag felt appropriate. My husband got the bulging I and it was delicious, moist and a good choice. read more

What a wonderful find here in Chattanooga! I was greeted warmly when I walked in the door and seated immediately. Interior dining area is absolutely sparkling clean.My beverages and Banchan arrived within minutes of my ordering. And my server/hostess/most likely owner was exceptionally friendly. I did giggle at getting carded when I ordered my beer seeing as I am in my late 50s. Now onto the food, I went with the old standby bul go gi. Which for your Korean food rookies is marinated beef with scallions. The plate arrived as sizzling as sizzling can be and the flavor was absolutely on point. The kimchi had just the right amount of heat to it which made a flavorful accompaniment to the marinated beef. The restaurant was relatively quiet and I'm not sure why because if I lived in this neighborhood I would be here all the time. The only negative was my server's follow through. She did not return after the food was delivered until I called out to the kitchen. read more

I had a real hard time deciding how to rate this restaurant. I'll break it down into three categories, service, value, and food. Service: This was a bit disappointing. I found that the waitress, while beautiful and sweet, and working without the benefit of hearing, was very easy to communicate with, but was not very attentive to the customers. Granted, there were six tables, and she was the only one, bussing, hosting, and waitressing, but I still sat for a while before getting up and walking up to the front register to ask for a check. During my entire time there, not once was I asked how everything was. Food: This is the only Korean restaurant in the area, and I love Dolsot Bibimbap. I get it almost everywhere I can, and I was happy to see that at this place, they had the traditional stone bowl that was sizzling hot. The flavors of the five side dishes were pretty good, my favorite was the green beans, but I thought everything was a grade below the average korean restaurants that I've been to. It was the level that it would have been if I had cooked it myself. Especially the Bibimbap itself. Value: This was really sad. One of the five side dishes was the same bean sprouts that were also in the Bibimbap. And the Bibimbap was 90% rice, with very little of anything else. There was no lunch specials either. It cost over $12 here, and the same dish would be $6-$8 at most other cities I've been to. Overall, if you want Korean, this is your only option in this area, and it's not bad. However, if you ever find yourself in Cincinnati, Los Angeles, Reno, New York City, or one of the other many cities with great Korean cuisine, I recommend that you go there, and see what I'm talking about. read more

Agree with so many of the other reviews. Food is great but who cares because the service is terrible. Only server is the owner who checks on you when she is not watching tv in the other room. We were rushed to order. We asked for a few minutes and we're given 1 minute and she was back wanting our order even though one of our party wasn't at the table. My son asked what seafood is in the seafood stew and was simply told "spicy stew". This place has been in business too long to not be able to answer a simple question. Drinks were not refilled once our food came. Check was set on the table before we were halfway done. We had 2 appetizers, 3 plates and all drank water - $104. Not worth it This place is getting the same "terrible service" reviews for 7 years and apparently has no interest in even trying to make the customer experience better. Must be why it is empty. My husband and I went there for dinner and were completely surprised there was no one there!! This place is a pure gem. I am not one to write reviews for restaurants, but this is a very unique issue. This was the WORST customer service I have ever received in my life. The older woman who says she was the manager first gives us the wrong order, then forces us to pay for it even though it's not what we ordered, and then screamed at me for having sauce from her to-go tiny containers instead of the bottle. I kept calling her asking for sauce but she ignored us so I had to go get it myself. This woman literally took the used as open ramekin of my sauce, screamed at me for using it, took it back and PUT IT BACK with the other "new sauces" for To Go customers!!!! So someone is going to be eating the sauce that I dipped my used fork into?!?! This is absolutely insane and the department of food safety should investigate this. She was also extremely rude, threw pens at us and screamed at us continuously. She deserves negative reviews. Honestly I am very traumatized by this experience, and can truly say this was the most horrific customer experience I have had in my lifetime. Please save your money and sanity and stay away. I ordered a vegetable pancake (seafood pancake with no seafood?!) and bulgogi. It was legit ~ authentic, freshly prepared and so good! I'd eat here often if I hadn't just been passing through. My fifth star would've been for the kimchi if I loved it, but it wasn't my fav...had a bit of a metal taste...can't place my finger on it; but Kimchi recipes vary so it was probably just my preference. The sides were good though- spicy cucumbers were on point. I had my food to go; but if you eat in - just know that the owners are authentic and if you find them "rude" as some have said, don't take it personally! I love this place but it is hardly ever busy. I went consistently when I was house hunting and in a hotel over that way. Recently found myself there again. The pushy Korean lady trying to help me pick what I wanted kind of made it for me. Both of us liked what we got - both lunch specials. And as I was leaving the whole family eating lunch waved and said goodbye. I will have to make my way back here again soon. It is just two exits from work no excuses not to go for lunch. Seoul is the most authentic Korean restaurant in Chattanooga. My "date" had never tried Korean food before, so I did some research because I wanted to make sure she had the best experience possible her first time. I have been to countless Korean restaurants across the US that couldn't even get the basics right, no matter what their menu claimed they could make; so I was apprehensive and worried that this would be a repeat experience. What I discovered though, was a true gem of a Korean restaurant right in Chattanooga. Generally with ethnic restaurants, you know you're in good shape when you walk in, and everybody eating in the restaurant is speaking the native language of the restaurant. If a restaurant can pass the test with transplanted natives, you'll be just fine. This is what we found, walking into Seoul. It literally reminded me of stepping into the doors of a restaurant in Los Angeles Koreatown (arguably the best Korean food in the US). Don't worry though, their english is just fine. We shared a plate of Galbi, which is a marinated and grilled Beef Short Rib; a Haemul Pajeon, which is a savory seafood "pancake"; a Dolsot Bibimbap, which is rice topped with various styles of vegetables and meats with a sunny side up egg all in a hot stone bowl; and a selection of Banchan, which are usually pickled/ marinated vegetable side dishes. ALL were great and of high quality. Seoul definitely passed my benchmark test. Korea gets to be a cold place in the winter, and Korean food is perfect for a cold night. The Galbi is served on a sizzling iron plate. The Dolsot Bibimbap is in a hot stone bowl that keeps the food warm and crisps the rice against its surface while you eat it. The spices and soups, like the soondubu jjigae will make you sweat in the middle of winter and leave you warmed. For Korean food in Chattanooga, this is where I go. 4/5 read more

When I saw the review about the server calling a patron fat - we figured the place sounded authentic enough, so we should go. =] Even when in Korea - eating out - I'd just get my usual - bulgogi or bibimbap. So..., being extremely adventurous.... I did the EXACT saaaame thing here - I had the bulgogi. (Hey, change is scary) The meat's good, seasoning's nice w/ that little bit of sweet. It's not riddled with veggies in the meat like some places The sides are what you'd expect: kimchi, radish, soybeans, cucumber, and rice. We also had seafood jigae - that nice spicy korean soup just hit the spot. Service was nice for us - so we can't add to the interesting stories of Seoul restaurant. Prices were certainly not cheap, but then again - I guess they can do that since this appears to be the only full korean restaurant in Chattanooga. Overall - a good place, so we'll probably be back - gotta try the bibimbap next time and report back! read more

Went here for some shrimp pho and short ribs. They started being very abrupt and short with my fiancé and i. Then we heard someone in the kitchen let off a disgusting uncovered sneeze and decided to leave. Food wasn't even on the table yet and they tried to charge me $72 dollars for the 2 dishes. This is the 2nd time I've went into this restaurant and was not only disappointed but also the only customer. Not worth in my opinion. Better food elsewhere. read more

Moved to the area recently and was looking for our new Korean Restaurant for when the cravings hit. We tried another place in Chattanooga but it wasn't it. Just left Seoul with "the spot" officially hit. My bulgogi was perfect with a side of gochujong and a spread of kimchis. My husband liked it too but he was sweating and red faced from the spice which I've never seen him do before! So be ready for real spice. The waitress was real nice and it was very pleasant. The kimchi was a bit over ripe which always makes me weary as it should be turning over quickly. The kimchi pancake was tasty. Server was attentive and friendly. The food was incredible. Sprouts were literally the freshest I have ever seen at any restaurant. The beer was ice cold. Our entrees were steaming hot, and the service was great! The owner was our server and she was so sweet. I got stir-fried squid, my boyfriend got bulgogi. Both were super flavorful, great portions, and overall delicious! Do not let this place go forgotten due to COVID. Call in for carryout, or dine in - there was plenty of room for social distancing. Hours need updated- they are open on weekends and til 9 on Fridays. This was my first taste of Korean food, after the cuisine online. Absolutely wonderful! Food came out with a variety of banchan (little sidedishes of kimchi, sprouts in sesame oil, etc.) I had dolsot bibimbap, which was pretty standard but absolutely fantastic. Remember to mix everything in the dish when you get it! The fiance had the bulgogi, which came with rice. It was perfectly tender and wonderfully savory. If you are new to Korean flavours, definitely go with the bulgogi. The price was very reasonable for all of the food you get. You can tell that a lot of love goes into the food. read more
