We took our Korean exchange students to this restaurant. We all loved it! The Koreans said it was very delicious!!!!

This was my first taste of Korean food, after the cuisine online. Absolutely wonderful! Food came out with a variety of banchan (little sidedishes of kimchi, sprouts in sesame oil, etc.) I had dolsot bibimbap, which was pretty standard but absolutely fantastic. Remember to mix everything in the dish when you get it! The fiance had the bulgogi, which came with rice. It was perfectly tender and wonderfully savory. If you are new to Korean flavours, definitely go with the bulgogi. The price was very reasonable for all of the food you get. You can tell that a lot of love goes into the food. read more

Seoul - awesome every time! The food is fantastic and we always leave with a cute story to tell along with satisfied bellies. We have ordered many dishes from BBQ to soup and enjoyed each one. After reading complaints about the owner/hostess, I must tell you that it's probably a cultural thing. Go hang out with a bunch of Korean ajima and you'll get the same thing. They're gonna hand feed the children (even those that aren't theirs) and pinch your muffin top. It's not meant to be insulting though it can come across as such. We have ordered dishes that she refused to serve us because they hadn't been shopping and the ingredients weren't fresh. That's service to me. My only complaint is that I would prefer MORE variety banchan (appetizers in the little bowls). read more

Great Korean food for sure. My wife and I lived in Seoul, South Korea for almost three years and got to know Korean food well. We tried out Seoul Restaurant several days ago and were pleasantly surprised. As soon as the Ahjimae found out that we'd lived in Seoul, she was very eager to make sure that her food was as good as that back in the ROK. The servings were plentiful and very tasty. The bonchon was also very tasty, especially the cucumber kimchi. We'll definitely eat here again. read more

I have been to Korea and the food reminded of the food I had Korea. I was expecting an Americanized food like Chinese restaurants, but this wasn't so. The small appetizers that I received with my food, kimchee and different veggies and noodles, was just like you would get at Korean restaurant in South Korea. If you want traditional Korean food this is the place to go. I haven't tried Vietnamese food yet but I bet it is just as good. read more

Having been to Korea a number of times in my life, I have a fondness for Korean cuisine. I was excited when I saw there was a Korean restaurant in town as normally I only got to enjoy the food when I took a trip to Duluth or went to a larger city like Miami or Chicago. I absolutely adore the lady that runs this place. A friend and I come here at least once a month, sometimes twice, and she always remembers us and what we like to order down to the appetizer and is always incredibly pleasant. I have tried a majority of the menu and my favorites are the kimchi jjigae (spicy and hot, just perfect for a cold day), the jeons (yummy unsweet pancakes with either seafood or kimchi) and the bul go gi while my friend rarely strays from the bibimbap. The owner runs the place like any restaurant in a Korean city, takes your order and leaves you to your own devices unless you have need of her, which in all honesty is the way I like it. The banchans are limited but very good, normally it consists of baechu kimchi, sukju namul and gamja jorim among others. I would recomment this place to anyone wanting to try Korean food in Chattanooga. read more

I stopped here on a drive from Nashville to Florida. The food was better than anything I have had in Nashville, and I am from Korea. The kids had bulgogi (Korean BBQ beef) and I had the dolsot bibimbap. Particularly praiseworthy was the quality of the side dishes. I got to know the owner. She brings the beef in from Korean grocery stores in Atlanta and all of the side dishes are made in-house. Worst service I've ever received. The owner/waitress didn't not even want to refill one of my sides which were the beans. I haven't been here in a while because in the past she told me that I couldn't order two dishes because she said it was too much food for me. The ambient that fills this restaurant is very soothing. The waitress gives you the affection and attention that a literal mother would give one. Every bite that is taken, basically takes one back to the motherland of Korea. Prices seem a little high but it is very worth it once you get the service and product. The lady that is always there is so kind and recommends new food if she thinks you picked the wrong thing (summer is for noodles and winter is for rice she said after I tried to order noodles the first week). Best Korean restaurant in the city. Coming from Los Angeles' Koreatown, my wife and I were worried about finding good kimchee in Chattanooga. This place quickly allayed our fears. It is homemade, spicy, delicious. The bul go gi is excellent, and my wife always ordered the soondubu jjigae, extra spicy with kimchee, and it would come bubbling and steaming to the table, and I can't even tell you how much fun it was to watch her sweat through that bowl for 45 minutes. It made her so happy, which made me happy, regardless of what I was eating. But I ate a lot, too. On top of being great cooks, the owners are incredibly nice. Highly recommended. read more

We came to Seoul Restaurant for dinner after a long day sight-seeing. My family loves Korean food and so we were glad to find one in Chattanooga. The service was fine, and got better actually as the meal progressed. The food was delicious, though the cabbage Kim Chi as a bit too sour for me. I ordered the LA Galbi and my wife had the Bul Golgi. Both were excellent, and I took the rare step of ordering a second portion of the Galbi (the portion size was a tad smaller than other places I have been, but not significantly so). I decided to give four stars instead of five due to the menu options. My wife wanted YuKae Jong, but they did not have that. They also did not have spicy chicken or spicy pork, two dishes I am accustomed to seeing at Korean restaurants. That being said, I wouldn't hesitate to come back. I went to this place many times and rent Karaoke party room a couple of times...place always clean and empty (no one goes there) Food are ok but some not and bit over priced. Just Be Aware Lady Owner is Very BOSSY!!! We saw her video taping us from the kitchen during our private Karaoke party. We asked her multiple times to stop, but she just laugh and ignored us. The bad service doesn't make up for the terrible food. I ate here while on a business trip. I love Korean food and eat it regularly in Charlotte. I ordered the beef jigae soup. What they brought out was nothing more than luke warm dirty dish water. Even the rice was stale! The waitress hung out in the back of the kitchen and never brought refills or asked if I was okay. I was rather skeptical about this restaurant based on the reviews, but my fiance and I went for lunch just to see how it was. I was very pleasantly surprised. Service was friendly and prompt, and the restaurant is attractive and clean. The woman who greeted and served us was cheerful, and drinks and banchan arrived quickly. I was prepared for a slightly smaller selection of banchan, so it wasn't a surprise. That said, the kimchi was tasty, and the sesame potatoes and bean sprouts aren't spicy but are good. I felt like the banchan did offer different textures, though only two basic tastes - still, just fine. The mandoo (dumplings) were delicious. Steamed and then pan fried, and the filling is not overseasoned. My fiance's bulgogi was tasty, if underspiced. The seasoning is there, salty, sweet, and umami, but the default for the dish seems to be zero spice. It'd benefit from some heat. Rice that came with it was fresh and hot. I got to experience the owner? waitress? 's maternal tendency when I ordered. I wanted the beef jigae, but when I asked for it, she shook her head, said "Not yet, not yet," and pointed to the beef stew. "They say it taste same, you like it." I made sure it would be spicy and went ahead with the recommendation. I couldn't tell if she meant that the beef jjigae wasn't available yet or if she thought I wouldn't like it. Either way, the beef stew was quite good. Spicy broth, same beef as in the bulgogi, lots of veggies (onion, bell peppers, jalapeno pepper, carrot, celery), and a small bowl of rice. Don't be fooled by the size of the bowl: it holds more than you think. The bowl also kept the soup very hot. I left quite satisfied and very full. Overall, it was expensive - $40 with tip for 2 lunch entrees, mandoo, and 2 sodas - but I would and will go back to try some different dishes. I'd like to rate it 3.5 stars, because it wasn't quite up to four star, but I think it's not so bad as to deserve 3 stars. read more

I love Korean food, I eat it almost every other day even I am not a Korean. I thought the food would be good, because the waitress is Korean, usually their food won't be too bad to get only one star from me. But it is the worst Korean food I have ever had, the kimchi taste too light, the kimchi gigen( spell could be wrong is the kimchi stew) which suppose taste spicy and little sour because the kimchi, but it was taste less, no flavor at all. I will give a play-by-play of the dishes later. So as not to mislead anyone, the food was decent, but the service was inexcusable. As a general rule, if you want to create and/or keep customers, be nice to everyone who pays you. That's just plain common sense, so if a curvacious lady comes and sits at one of your tables it is in your best interest NOT to call them fat and/or suggest dishes with a stated reason that they need to be on a diet. Further common sense should tell you that if you do call a patron fat, it should not be in front of the six foot, two hundred fifty pound man who has his arm around her. He will not take it well. Sadly, the presence of a white haired, thin Korean woman apparently trumps this knowledge because she will leave a tip for the ridiculously rude waitress even after she has been told multiple times that it should not happen. For those who want to jump in and defend some "cultural" elements here, being insensitive is not "cultural" to any degree; it's bad manners and bad raising. With that out of the way, on to the food... My grandmother-in-law had the cod stew, which was an acceptable spice level, but left a briny taste on the tongue. The fish continues to cook in the broth, so my advice is to eat it first so it doesn't overcook. The broth over the white rice wasn't too bad. My wife had the sizzling stone pot rice, which wasn't that great. The sauce they give for it is only spicy, where I'm used to the spice being balanced out by honey to cut the bite. I had the galbi, which wasn't bad. The meat was already cut off the bone, but two large bones do come with it, which we gave to our dogs. The waitress did give us trimmed meat of some kind for our dogs, possibly because she finally picked up on how pissed I was at her. Sadly, it was too little too late. If you're looking for good Korean food in Chattanooga, just drive to Nashville or Atlanta. Heck, even Huntsville has better quality thanks to LG being headquartered there. read more

This is a wonderful little place tucked away just off of Hwy 153 in the Sportsmans Warehouse shopping complex. Easy to get to as it is just past the merge of I-24 and Hwy 153 off the Lee Hwy exit. The service is good and they are very friendly. Effective but not overly attentive is how I would describe the overall service. I have never seen this very nice place very crowded even though the food is excellent. They serve a variety of dishes and you can customize it to suite your taste from mild to burning hot. I've been here many times and have tried a variety of dishes and each one has been great. Just make sure if you say you want it "hot and spicy" that you really mean it! I assure you it will be! I hope more people will give this place a try as it is a very nice hidden away gem in Chattanooga! read more

Got the Thai ice tea and it was a little sweet. The kimchi was too sweet and needed more seasoning. The bean sprouts are very tasty. Got the bim bim bop and it had barely two spoonfuls of beef. The pot got too hot and the rice got burned on the outside. It was barely chewable. Its also overpriced for $13. The owners are very nice and sweet, but I wish I could rate it higher. read more

A ghost town when I arrived. I knew there must be a reason. There was. The service was offensive. I felt as if I had to retrieve my own refills and lettuce to wrap my bulgogi and rice. The sea food pancakes looked as if a squid and octopus were violently massacred and thrown into batter . I couldn't eat it. She continuously interrogated us about the pancake. As if she were mad we were wasting food. She never checked on us throughout our meal. We had to get up and find her when we needed something. We had 4 orders of bulgogi and she brought a small serving of lettuce to wrap. Then when we went to find her to ask for more, we got another very small portion. My service was very unappreciated. First time at this restaurant. The place was empty to begin with which should have been a reg flag already but we went in anyway. The server was rude to begin with as well. She did not listen and kept talking over me. She messed up my order and brought more than I asked for and after telling her that it was wrong she didn't even bother to take it back or fix it. I have to help myself for the sauces because again she didn't listen to what I needed. Once she saw the sauces I had she aggressively snatched in from our table and PUT THE OPEN CONTAINER OF SAUCE BACK ON THE TO GO COUNTER to serve to other customers. Did take out. Called order the soup said it would be ready in 5 minutes. Got there and had to waited for someone to show up at the register. I ordered the chicken Pho soup. Got back to my office had to put the noodles and toppings in the soup. Soup was good however the chicken was ground and there was no more then 6 or 7 small half meatball size pieces. For $10 soup it should have had more meat in it as for the flavor it was good and it had plenty of noodles, cilantro, and sauces to go in it. read more

I've eaten here 3 or 4 times now and each time I've left dissatisfied. The kimchi was leafy / not too stalky which I like, but it didn't really have much flavor at all. We asked if the dumplings were vegetarian and we were told there is "only a little" meat and proceeded to encourage us to order it... Of course I don't want to order it, im not "only a little" vegetarian. I ordered the kimchi soondobu medium spicy. There was very little flavor. I've tried this dish at other korean places (not in Chattanooga), and while it has varied to some degree from place to place, I've never been dissatisfied like I was with this rendition. Sadly, I even added soy sauce to it just to give some kind of flavor. Also, no one that got the soondobu got an egg, which is typically served with this dish to crack into the stew (this was not a problem for me as I don't usually eat the egg anyway). While we were there I got 1 refill on my water. Even though my empty glass was sitting right at the edge of the table, the waitress passed our table to fill up everyone's glass at the table near us and passed by again on the way to the kitchen without even asking if I'd like a refill. Lastly, the bill was way to much for what we got. I've gotten much better food at other korean places at the same or better price. I don't mind paying for quality, but this was not. read more

I travel a lot... this was my first time in Chattanooga, TN. After a long day, I was craving some home cooking. I found Seoul, and gave it a try. I don't mean to offend, but Chattanooga is not NYC, LA, Atlanta, Dallas, etc... so the people that are not from the area should take that into account before talking down to the place.. There was no one in the restaurant, and the owner was so nice, that I asked her to pick the entree for me. She noticed I ordered the So-Ju, so she picked a wonderful An-ju for me to accompany it. The variety of the ban-chan was not great, but that is why I mentioned the area before! With all things considered, I would give it a try if you are in the area looking for some "home cooking"... cheers! read more
