    Seoul Train
    Patrick D.

Tasty satisfying Korean fast casual that's good whether you're a big fan of Korean food or never had it before! It's like a Korean Chipotle or Cava - you can choose between a bunch of premade bowls or make your own by choosing a base (rice, noodles, veggies, etc) + protein (classic Korean proteins bulgogi beef, spicy pork, tofu, etc) and an assortment of veggies, toppings, and tasty sauces. I got the Seoul Train - glass noodles, bulgogi beef, creamy sriracha sauce, corn, cucumbers, kale slaw, kimchi, scallions, cilantro, crispy garlic, and sesame seeds. The noodles were tasty by themselves and the beef was flavorful, and I think it was a pretty reasonable portion compared to some places like chipotle which have really started skimping. The sauce was quite creamy and it looks like a bunch of the sauces tend to be on the sweeter or creamier side, but they still go well with the savory meat and carbs. I think the bowl started at $14-15 so with tax and a small tip it's a few more dollars, pretty on par with prices for other fast casual places these days, but it's nice to have a Korean option to spice things up!

Great takeout!!! Huge bowl packed with fresh ingredients. Lots of great sauces to choose from. Good amount of food for the cost!

I'm so glad I found this place! I just flew into Chicago and didn't want anything carb heavy (pizza) and wanted something semi healthy and with flavors. I came upon Seoul Spice on Yelp, was a bit hesitant because it's new and not a lot of people reviewed it. But took my chance bc a build your own bowl Korean style sounds fun! It's the chipotle Korean bowls. It's right across from millennium park. I came and there wasn't many people, just a few. I ordered by selecting my carb (half purple rice and glass noodles), protein (half bulgogi and chicken), and proceeded with the sides- kimchi, radish, corn, seaweed, cucumber, bean sprouts and extra spicy sauce. They put so much in your bowl. The glass noodles were japjae noods and the purple rice tasted authentic. The meat had flavors and I ate every single rice. It was good! I was very surprised by it, especially seeing no Koreans in sight, workers or customers. Tasted like something I would have gotten from a K-Town. And I'm from California, you get a lot of Korean food choices. I want one to open up in California. Love the concept! It's so simple yet you don't see much of it. If you like Korean bibimbap, you gotta try this!

Celiacs rejoice!! This place is 100% gluten free!! I ate here 3 days in a row so I could try more of the menu. I really love the glass noodles so I pretty much ate variations of those. I tried the crispy chicken which was ok but I really liked the Bulgogi. The radishes and sauces gave a great spice and texture. The staff here was super nice every day and I never had to wait. The place was clean and I ate there and had delivery. It's a place you eat quick and run, so people don't linger long. I wished I lived close enough to eat here more often, but do yourself a favor and check it out.

Wow!!! Love this place! The food was great and almost everything is gluten free. You can order one out of their premade bowls, or make your own. My friend and I chose to make our own bowls. They were so delicious! Also very generous portions. We both said there's no way we're going to eat this whole thing, and yet we did. The restaurant was very clean and quiet. I hope they add outdoor seating in the future. The staff were all extremely friendly. My friend and I agreed that we will definitely be back! She even purchased a bowl to bring home to her husband that afternoon.

-New favorite quick service restaurant! We will be dining here/doing pick up quite frequently from now on. -The food is quite flavorful, portions were a good size, and prices are not outrageous (about $15ish per person) -so easy, especially when you're craving Korean food -We built our own bowls, where you can choose the base and add your protein and toppings -glass noodles were chewy and exactly what I was expecting, and the purple rice was cooked perfectly. It's chewy and holds the sauce flavor -sauces were delicious, I got the Korean hot sauce and sesamiso, though I will ask next time to have it on the side (it does get a little mushy if you are traveling with it) -got the spicy pork and bulgogi half and half option, which id recommend to try a variety of different options -inside there's a few seats as well, very clean inside too Next time I can't wait to try the crispy chicken I can't say enough good things about this spot!

    Kimchi Crunch

Had gone into SeoulSpice for a quick lunch. Located across Millennium Park, this small outlet is hard to miss due to its standout branding. Their menu was simple and not too extravagant. Went with their Kimchi Crunch, which contained half noodles (glass noodles) and half purple rice, with a plethora of condiments, kimchi, chicken and sprouts for the crunch. I took my time to finish my bowl - it was huge! But I loved every bit of it. I particularly loved the kimchi against the cold glass noodles. Would definitely come back to try more items from the menu.

Absolutely DELICIOUS!!!... We were looking for a quick grab for dinner and came upon this spot as were walking back towards out hotel. I was a little hesitant at first but figured I would give it a try and boy was I happy that I decided to try it. It is a cool little create your own bowl spot a little like a create your own Korean bibimbap bowl or kind of like a Chipotle bowl. The process was easy to follow and directions were printed on the glass covering as well as up top on the menu. The servers were very nice and patient. They also accommodated me with my kimchee and hot sauce on the side which was great. There was a line when I got there but it moved pretty quickly other than having to wait for them to to refill the japchae which was fine because I wanted it for one of my base items. You start with your base or starch. You can choose from white rice, purple rice, and/or japchae (Korean flavored long rice), grilled veggies, or toss salad. You can have choose two choice if you wish or just one. I chose the purple rice snd japchae. Great choice! Then to your protein/meats. Once again, you can choose just one or half of two types. If you want extra meat, you can choose so as well for an extra charge. The meats consist of: Bulgogi Beef, Teriyaki Chicken, Crispy Chicken, Spicy Pork, or Tofu. I chose beef and chicken and both were delicious and cooked well. I didn't have to add any additonal soy sauce bevuse they were both very flavorful. If you are like me and don't like your rice with too much sauce on it, ask the servers to please drain as much liquid from the meats before placing them into your bowl. They were so kind to do so ans it was perfect. After that, you move onto unlimited veggies. They had quite a selection consisting of: Cucumbers, Carrots, Corn, Bean Sprouts, Cilantro, Pickled Radish, Kim Chee, Kale, Edamame, Green Onion, Sesame Seeds. I may have missed a few but that is what I remember. I was simple and chose bean spouts, pickled radish, lots of cilantro, and kimchee and hot sauce on the side. After your unlimited toppings, you can choose several different sauces. I remember them having about 4-5 different ones. Goya, Kochujang, Oil, and something else. I only wanted hot sauce which was perfect and loved that I didn't need to add anything else to it. The staff was amazing, and food was absolutely amazing. Loved everything about it and my experience. I wish I could have gone one more time while in town, but at least now I know if I return, this will be one of my go to spots for a quick Korean Bowl fix. I recommend this place .

This place is excellcent. It's a Korean bowl concept. So what chipotle did for Mexican and cava did for Mediterranean, Seoul spice is doing for Korean food. The atmosphere is fun casual and approachable. The high quality food at reasonable prices make this place a great option for a quick dining option during a day of touring the city. Definitely worth the stop!

SeoulSpice is seriously my new favorite spot to get lunch in the Loop. Just a short walk from my office, this spot is always clean and there's always a spot for me to sit and enjoy my lunch there. It's a build-a-bowl type place where you go down the line and choose what goes in it. The staff is super helpful and knowledgeable if you have questions on menu items and flavors. My personal favorites are bulgogi and jap chae! I try a different combo every time I go.

This is one of my favorite quick stops in the Loop! I have been several times and SeoulSpice never misses. The shop is very cute and the employees are always very friendly. Every time I've visited, I've been consistently impressed by the high quality and fresh ingredients. The portions are huge and can definitely last for two meals. Out of the bowls I've tried, my favorite has to be the Kimchi Crunch. The chicken is super tender and flavorful, and the purple rice is perfectly sticky and moist. The generous rice and proteins are complemented perfectly by crunchy veggies, spicy kimchi, and a refreshing ginger carrot sauce. Definitely do *not* skip the soft boiled egg, which is marinaded and cooked to perfection! Healthy comfort food at its finest. 100% recommend SeoulSpice and will undoubtedly be back soon!

This was my second time visiting and the customer service was great. We were greeted and treated with patience and attentiveness. I got the build a bowl - which is my go to now. I was able to customize it to my liking with all the fixings. You really get great portions for what you pay. I wasn't able to finish it all in one sitting. Can't wait to finish the rest later. Inside it is super cute. Lots of people were sitting and it was busy. I highly recommend this location if you are in the area.

I came for Elite Week: It was a speedy and easy service. They were also very informative and friendly. It turned out this place's 100% peanut-free and gluten-free! I ordered the fireball and substituted the purple rice with the noodles, while my boyfriend ordered a build-your-bowl with half spicy pork and half bulgogi. While we both do not eat peanut-free and gluten-free items, we both enjoyed our bowls thoroughly. The fireball was a bit spicy (and I eat spicy food), so I may suggest to those who don't to maybe try another type of bowl, find an ingredient that can help tame the spiciness, or ask if it can be made less spicy. I would come back again and try another bowl. This place is like any other small fast food place downtown so do expect a bit of noise if eating in. We took our bowls to-go.

Then I saw the KBBQ menu and all bets were off. I immediately pivoted and ordered the chef's tasting set, the Diweji, featuring pork jowl, pork collar, and pork belly, complete with an assortment of banchan. Zero regrets. And here's the part that should tell you everything you need to know: I am a certified radish hater. I avoid it whenever possible. Yet somehow, I found myself repeatedly reaching for the radish banchan and asking for more. Even the soup - which also featured radish - was absolutely delicious. If Perilla can convert someone who actively dislikes radish into a fan for one meal, that's saying something. The soju was exactly what I wanted with Korean barbecue: crisp, clean, and refreshing. I appreciate that it was neutral rather than overly sweet. The flavored, sweeter versions aren't really my thing unless the food is setting my mouth on fire. Speaking of spice, the wings were good: juicy, well-executed, and satisfying but I kept wishing they packed a little more heat. They weren't spicy at all, and a bigger kick would have taken them from very good to unforgettable. As for the meats, the pork jowl was gloriously rich and fatty, exactly what you'd expect from that cut. The pork collar ended up being my favorite: flavorful, tender, and with just the right balance of meat and fat. The pork belly was comforting and familiar - the classic KBBQ staple done well, with beautifully rendered edges and that indulgent quality that makes it a crowd-pleaser for a reason. The set also came with potatoes that were unexpectedly delicious. My only complaint? It was far too much food for one person. The service deserves its own mention. Everyone was warm, attentive, and genuinely kind. The entire meal was delivered with efficiency and a smile, making a solo diner feel completely comfortable lingering and enjoying the experience. We ordered a seafood soup, seafood pancake, and a salmon crunch roll. We quickly realized that this was an atypical Korean restaurant experience as we did not receive banchan and there were not many traditional options on the menu. I think that should've been our cue to go, but we stayed and were very disappointed. The service was extremely slow. We had to ask multiple times when it was coming, and when the food finally came out, it was underseasoned and the texture was very off. The seafood pancake tasted deep fried and had chunks of imitation crab. It had the texture of an unrisen focaccia. The soup was tasteless, and the salmon roll was drenched in mayo and eel sauce. They also gave us a "special" hot sauce that tasted like just a mix of sriracha and Tabasco. Small highlights: the ambiance was nice; it seemed clean. Waiter was nice enough. The service wasn't great. We had asked prior to our meal if we would be charged extra for refilling our side dishes. We were told that they were free to refill. We were then charged for said refills at the end of the meal. The restaurant itself has a pretty cool aesthetic. It honestly reminds me of some of the places I'd been to in Korea, particularly due to the setup of the grills w/ the hanging vents, the lighting, and the general simplicity of the space.

Perilla is a tastefully decorated restaurant, both loungey and rich, but still makes you feel like the joint is all for you. You know, 5 star service is such a lost art, it makes you forget how much you miss it when all of a sudden it happens to be right in front of you. Ricardo, our bartender, what a gem. Forget about the perfectly made drinks that were served to us. Ricardo made us feel right at home with his kind disposition and friendly demeanor. But it doesn't just stop at Ricardo. Everyone was absolutely fantastic. We could have been served 7-11 sushi at this point and I still would have left 5 stars. Food time. The kimchi pork dumplings were an absolute flavor bomb and that parmesan broth gave the dumplings a little extra kick that took it to the next level. Plus, I love when the dumpling wrapper has a little chew to it and isn't this soft mush that dissolves in your mouth. The beef fat frites were a nice treat as well. They were not extra or over the top in anyway. But you can tell when something is done well and correctly, just like these fries were. The Premium Steakhouse Set, in my opinion, is all two people need to enjoy this very special experience. All the accompanying condiments were exceptional on their own and could have functioned as their own course. The Japchae glass noodles were a stunner. The real sleeper was the chopped lettuce greens tossed in their chili vinaigrette. Could have eaten 20 bowls of those lettuce greens. Sadly, I forgot the name of our server who cooked and cut our meat for us. She really added to the experience. She expertly prepared our food while maintaining a fun and pleasant conversation with us. The meat itself, my goodness, tender, smoky, quality-forward, and perfect served with the condiments. What a spectacular meal and overall experience.

I was staying at the hotel and encouraged to check out the restaurant so came downstairs to reach out to the host about a reservation. They told me they were fully committed the whole night, I said okay is there a waitlist, she looked at me unsure. I explained further if there is a cancellation would love to be notified and she wrote my name down. I went back to the lobby, looked on OpenTable and I saw multiple reservations. I went back to the hostess showing the 8:15 resy I got and she said it wasn't accurate and if someone booked it and came they would refuse them (what???!! There's a cancellation fee as well). I asked about the 8:45 and her coworker said that IS available. I was confused, because a minute ago she said they were fully commited. Which I said back, she said there is actually an 8:45 (okay so you lied). I asked if we could put our name down for that and did. After that extremely strange interaction, which I was not used to after eating at many higher end restaurants we sat down at 8:45. We ended up getting a mix of small plates. The waiter was clearly trying to sell us their expensive courses for his tip though he was very sweet... which he may not have realized we had an expense budget for work and we were trying not pass that. He emphasized the small plates were small and not enough food which we fell for and got more and had way too much food and passed our expense budget due to it. The food is great, it's the service that has work to do especially for such a high price tag. Get the chicken for sure. Dumplings you can pass on. The broccolini (not pictured) is great as well. Amazing sauce. As the food is good I would not come here again due to the service as their are other restaurants that are more buttoned up than this.

Like another reviewer mentioned, this was cooked and prepared (Mongolian style) in the kitchen. It came out on a sizzling skillet. It tasted delicious. The meat was really tender and juicy, but there were a couple of pieces with bone-in which I didn't really care for. I thought the side-dishes were really good. I completely finished the kimchi and pickled cucumbers. So good. I almost forgot about the miso soup. It was pretty standard (which is good) and hit the spot on a wintery day. Unexpectedly, for dessert, the server brought out a Haagan Daas ice-cream bar lol. I wasn't sure if this was normal or if it was just because I'm handsome? (found out later they do this for everyone... lol). I didn't really have room b/c I was full from the main dish and sides but ate it anyways (why not?). Overall I had a delicious meal. I can't remember the pricing off the top of my head, but I would say that it's reasonably priced. Oh, they also serve alcohol here too so if your looking for a spot for a group of people, that is an option. I personally had a large Cass to wash down my meal. Daebak!

The space has such a fun, modern interior with records and other music decor lining the small space! Perfect spot for a date or small group. A live DJ was spinning various records during our visit, which I thought would be too loud, but was the perfect backdrop for our great dinner conversation. Staff were friendly, and didn't hang around too much, which was nice! The cocktails and food were the real deal! I had the Pineapple Upside Down Cake cocktail, which I thought would be SUPER sweet, but it was balanced and refined in the best way. Lovely take on a tropical cocktail. We shared the Korean Chicken Sandwich, the Burger, and the Bing Bread. Every single bite was delicious: fun take on a pizza with the Bing Bread, a fresh and light take on a Korean Chicken sandwich, and a deliciously savory burger with all my favorite toppings! The servings were perfect to share, so I'd grab a close friend, order up some drinks and plates, and just take in the chill vibe! So glad we stopped!

It's a more relaxed concept than the OG, serving Korean inspired bar food and inventive cocktails. While I liked the original Parachute, I am obsessed with Parachute HiFi. You must order the bing bread. It's what they are known for, and for good reason. It reminded me of a large doughy pizza roll, in the best way. I was also in love with the tapioca fritters with pepper jelly. The texture of the tapioca fritter was so unique and fun, and the pepper jelly was seriously out of this world. Bottle that stuff up and sell it! Whoever said the ttebokki pad Thai didn't taste like pad thai was wrong - it does and was a satisfying dish that I'd order again! I love twists on a classic and it was so smart to use rice cakes instead of the traditional noodles. The cocktails all sounded amazing, especially having names like pineapple upside down cake and black sesame. They got me intrigued for sure. Both cocktails were well balanced and enjoyable. Can't wait to return to try more from the menu (like that burger!)
