We headed here for a Yelp elite events and I keep going. They have themselves a great niche fast service Korean bowls. I don't think there's much competition in the area. But it's super yummy. It's like you're choose your own adventure dining. Chose Base+protein+ veggies+ sauces+ toppings. Fully customizable and lots of options. They have they premade bowls as well. I am a big fan!! It was walking distance away from the river and I ordered ahead. The food was already ready when I came by. The workers all seemed very nice and it was super cute and clean inside. Like others have said, it's a Korean version of Chipotle - like build your own bibimbap bowls. I wish they did offer some other Korean dishes but mine was delicious. I got the bowl and added an egg with avocado and I'm a fan. Everything tasted fresh and delicious with some yummy crunches from some of the veggies. I would order again! read more

Spotted this place across the street from Millennium park. Was kind of hungry after the blues festival so dropped in. Best I can describe it is a Korean version of chipotle. Especially a bowl with either rice or japchae/glass noodle base with your choice of either the bulgogi or spicy pork protein garnished with different veggies (seasoned radish, kimchee, corn, cilantro, onions). Not bad but can't say it's authentic Korean. Would give it 3.5 out of four. I ordered the fireball which was the spicy pork with purple rice and toppings. It was ok. SeolSpice was delicious! I came with the Yelp Elite invitation, and left a believer. As a chef I cook EVERY single day and I am very picky and want fresh and excellent food! SeolSpice ticked both of those boxes. The portions were very fruitful! I could have easily split my portion with my husband, but he had his own, which he ate every bite of! I had the cilantro chicken bowl, and my husband had the fireball. My meal was filled with rice, chicken, corn, crispy carrots, yummy greens, avocado, creamy cilantro dressing and a crispy crunchy treat on top. I could only eat a 1/3 of my meal as it was so filling. The ambiance of the restaurant was kind, and full of color and light. I can't wait to come back and try the noodles, then the people rice, then the veggies, then the Bbq tofu!! So yeah... I feel like fast casual ethnic food could be really great and provides good variety for students, workers, and anyone else on the go. I've perfected my sauces and ingredients and came back to try the noodle base. I'm a fan of japchae and seoul spice has a good version. I've had both the rice and noodle and prefer the rice base to make closer to a bibimbap bowl as I know it. Noodles need a little more sesame oil or salt imo. I was able to add a drizzle of oil and sesame seeds so that was a plus in my book.All the ingredients were fresh and plentiful and employees are a ray of sunshine. SeoulSpice is a newly opened restaurant on Michigan Ave, right by Millennium Park, and is probably the only Korean fast food option in the loop, which is a welcome addition. The food (purple rice, bulgogi and spicy pork) tasted great, and the accompanying gochujang sauce had a nice spice kick to them. The ambiance could be improved, as it got a bit rowdy inside when I visited, so hopefully that eventually settles down...will look forward to my next visit! read more

Really great Korean restaurant to get lunch while you're walking around the loop. I was looking for a place for my husband who has celiac and I to grab lunch without straying too far from Millennium park, and saw this place highly rated on yelp. We went in and were surprised to see that it was a Korean bowl restaurant that was all gluten-free! We ordered two classic bowls and sat inside, people watching as we ate. The flavors were delicious! I loved the sauce and the vegetables were refreshing as well. The only thing I have to criticize is the serving size. It wasn't quite as big as I had hoped, for the price. Not sure if we were extra hungry from having walked around the park previously but after I finish my bowl, I was so hungry and was contemplating a second! Service was fairly quick and friendly as well. It's not a huge size place so if you're going with a large group you may want to take your stuff to go. The food itself was good, which is why this review is disappointing to write. My order included two bowls, but I was only given one. When I returned to pick up the missing item, there was no apology. I understand that the order had been prepared in two separate bags, which is reasonable. However, the way the situation was handled afterward was unacceptable. Not only did the staff fail to acknowledge the mistake, but they handled my food carelessly, literally throwing the other bowl and utensil into the bag as if they were throwing trash into a trash can. I understand that mistakes happen and had no issue with the initial error. Unfortunately, because of how the pickup was handled, I can't justify giving this place more than 2 stars, despite the food itself being good. read more

I hate to leave a bad review, because all of the employees here were very nice. Restaurant is very cute on the inside, plus they have free water. I mostly had an issue with the food itself. Everything tasted alright, but it gave my friends and I the worst stomach aches imaginable. Most of us didn't get anything spicy, so we're not entirely sure what the issue was. There was no bathroom for us to use at SeoulSpice so we were forced to terrorize the Starbucks bathroom next door :( If you have a particularly strong digestive system, maybe you'll like this place!! If you are looking for a quick, fresh, healthy and flavourful meal- this restaurant is the place for you. It's a choose-your-bowl adventure restaurant with delicious Korean food. I'm kind of choosy about Korean food, as I used to live in the large North Atlanta Korean enclave in Duluth, GA, and I know what the food is supposed to taste like. (I've also visited Korea.) The flavors and taste of the beef bulgogi, spicy pork and japchae are legit, from the bowl I made. At SeoulSpice, you are able to have a mix of bases, proteins that you can do a half&half of, unlimited veggies, a sauce(or 2), and unlimited toppings. You can also add an egg, or avocado for a little extra. The bowls are big, and plentiful. I couldn't eat all of mine, but it was so delicious I bagged the leftovers. My 16 year old loved his bowl with crispy chicken, rice, japchae, and a ton of fresh veggies. We were so hungry, that we didn't take a single photo. Everything is also gluten-free, so celiacs rejoice! I talked to the area manager who was visiting the store, and he told me the owner was from Atlanta, and his family owned the first Korean restaurant in the city. SeoulSpice uses his mother's recipes, so it explains why the taste is so good. This restaurant is a part of chain that is beginning, and I really hope it comes to the Bay Area!!!! The staff is very upbeat, nice and welcoming. We came in a bit bedraggled from the sudden rainstorm for lunch. The warm reception was very nice to receive. The restaurant atmosphere is typical fast casual, with groovy-pop music playing in the background. There are large bench style tables with a booth-back seating with chairs, some tables with stools, and a window table. It's bright, and cheery, with a modern Asian vibe. The restaurant is accessible for mobility disabilities, which as walker and wheelchair user, is important to me. It's great for all ages, and there are vegetarian and vegan options. Found this after visiting the bean. I'm here from Atlanta (where there's a huge Korean population). I could probably eat here 3 days in a row. It's delicious. I got the classic bowl, which tastes like a bibimbap. Added an egg, which is soft boiled and tasty. Some of the rice was crunchy, which was unexpected but consistent with a bibimbap (if it were in a hot stone bowl). That being said, I would probably get japchae instead of rice in the future. Wow a high quality and fairly priced option across from the Bean (Maggie Daly park, God bless her) on Michigan Ave. Their staff was great explaining options and asking if I was ok with various levels of spice..these are really nice young folks, Chicago is lucky to have such great folks in counter service.
