I think I'm single handedly keeping them in business. If I'm ever on Southport, I always magically end up at Sephora. They recently redid it and got rid of the check-out counter, Instead, they have employees stationed throughout the store that you approach to check you out. It has allowed for even more brands and products. It was fun exploring some of the newer brands! Unlike many Sephoras, the employees at this location aren't too pushy. They'll ask if you need assistance but if you say no, they leave you be which I really appreciate. Inventory can be hit or miss, but it is a smaller location so I kind of expect that. A helpful tip is checking on the app to make sure they have the product you're looking for in stock before making the trip. I will happily continue to purchase more makeup that I definitely don't need here! read more

I had an eye makeup appt with "Shahini". She was nice enough but my eye makeup looked awful and I had to come home and wash it off and re-do myself. She did not know what she was doing at all and did not follow what I requested. I looked like a clown and my make up was all crooked and not even on both eyes. read more

I've been in here several times and the customer service is always awful . I'm rarely greeted or asked if I need anything and today I wasn't even done looking and heard "have a good day oh just kidding " and the employees laughing . At the point you say "oh I apologize can we assist you in finding anything " I don't know why the employees act like they are working in Highland Park , Dallas - you are literally working somewhere people take the bus to get to . Won't be back. I placed an order online to pick up at the Southport location and headed over to pick it up. When I got here I was ignored by all the employees, including the ones who weren't helping anyone; that's fine, I don't need to be accosted by three employees moments after walking in anyway. Since I just needed to pick up a purchase I headed to the checkout to get in line, and whilst looking around saw a sign on the east wall near the entrance saying online order pickup, so headed over that way. There wasn't anyone around, so I tried the handles and since it was unlocked I figured it was like many many other places that have in-store pickup, and it was self serve. A woman came up to me and said she needed to do that, took the items from me and told me to find my bar code so she could sign me out. I don't know if I've ever been made to feel more like a thief, and I told her so; she said she was helping a customer. So here are my suggestions for Sephora: 1. Y'all wander around with earbuds and walkies, so perhaps the person who's supposed to be managing the order pickup area should use it to call a coworker to help. 2. Or, Keep the cabinet locked so people don't think they're supposed to just help themselves to their items. 3. Or, put up a simple sign on the door indicating that items need to be checked out by an associate and to seek assistance if no one is there. Or all of the above. Like I said, I won't return to this Sephora, and really don't have a lot that I need to buy from Sephora so I will probably just buy my mascara directly from Lancome rather than run the risk of an interaction like this again. read more

Doing some shopping damage along this stretch of Southport Avenue, I ventured into Sephora. Yes, the location is compact but so much less chaotic/crowded than the State Street location. It seemed like the selection of perfumes was more expansive here than at the Michigan Avenue store. I also appreciated that the salespeople weren't all over me and I could browse in peace. read more

I came here for the sole purpose of trying out perfumes. Went on a random Wednesday afternoon & it wasn't too busy. The employees were friendly & helpful but they left me alone to sample all the perfumes I wanted. Unfortunately, the tester for Glossier You perfume was empty & I was too scared to ask if they can open another one. No worries tho. I still appreciate when one employee helped me with my question about Phlur's Vanilla Skin. I might come back here in the future for any Glossier stuff I usually buy. Very disappointed in the assistance provided here yesterday; I came in asking for a lower priced alternative to Dior Lip Glow ($35), something that resembles the same formula and color pay off. The Sephora assistant then took me to Fenty lip glosses and the Sephora Rouge Lacquer Long-Lasting Lipstick. Neither of which are remotely close to the Dior Lip Glow, when asked if these were the only options 2 times, the assistant confirmed. I then searched around the store on my own and found two alternatives with similar formulas at a lower price point on my own. For reference: they were Nars afterglow lip balm ($28) and Tarte SEA Quench Lip rescue ($19). The point in sharing this feedback - is as a customer I trust that Sephora assistants know the products they sell, and have a more informed understanding of comparable products that I do. But it seems like I still need to do the leg work, as not all assistants are equally informed. If the assistant was new and didn't know she should have stated so, if I had asked multiple times if these were the only options. This just makes me trust Sephora employees a lot less and makes me believe their priority is pushing sales, rather than actually solving a problem or helping. read more

I have been in the store a few times and returned as I found the staff especially knowledgeable and "consultative" while not "dissing' condition of skin, etc. Elizabeth expertly walked me through concealer options for my aging (wrinkled) face and first started with a skin and color analysis. So, my nieces & I just left the store about an hour ago and that will be my last time here. At every turn we were being followed. In every aisle there was a worker coming up to us. At one point I had to stop and stare at the manager because she was following us around after I told them multiple times we didn't need any help. When I came in the store I let them know I didn't need any help, I was just treating my nieces to a day out. They saw a group of black girls coming into the store and assumed we were going to steal. Love this place. Very attentive to my needs and concerns. They give great recommendations and are knowledgeable about the products. They have everything you need; hair, skin, nails, eyes and even items to clean your brushes. I found some really good products and even learned about new products. I ask a sale person where the lip gloss was at pointed me to the lip gloss and walked away. Attitude from employee, regarding an unpleasant experience when I was looking for a perfume and I asked the guy greeting us for some help on the exchange, perhaps I should've figured that out myself, but he was upset and wasn't offering any help like he offered the white women before me. I explain to my friend in front of the dark haired & thin Latina cashier. She listened and looked upset and I come in today just to be greeted with a glares by her after she curtly came came close and offered help in an attacking tone.
