Had to pick up some beauty products while I was in Kansas City, so we swung through Sephora. This location is nice and very spacious! They had more brands than my usual one in Chicago, and the layout was different too. I liked it! We stopped by shortly after it opened, and it was already pretty busy! Friendly greeting by Lexi. Assisted in locating eye mask and cream as well. She was well versed in the different product lines and if not we both took a gander at the ingredients. In the end I was able to use my card rewards and get my birthday gift. Just gotta love those freebies and options to try! The cashier was also helpful and patient in explaining the options. I typically shop online, but needed to make a return. Their doors weren't open at 10:03 am when I arrived. Following that the woman doing the return wasn't the most pleasant, didn't outright say it but based on her tone and eye rolling was assuming I'd opened the packages of items ordered granted they were things you'd be able to tell if opened. I went in looking for some dark spot correctors, completely uncertain about what I was looking for. I found a product that seemed okay, but I still wasn't super confident. I asked an employee and she said while the product I grabbed was great, it wouldn't be the best one for my skin type (fair with freckles). She recommended Eadem's Advanced dark spot corrector. Almost a month later and all those unwanted dark spots have disappeared! I've never been so happy with a recommendation before! I wish I could remember the girls name so I could should her out, she knows her stuff!!! read more

If I could give Sephora 0 stars I would. I am a frequent shopper at Sephora and as of today that will change. Their customer service has gone completely down the drain. They claim to have changed their return/exchange policy to limit it to 30 days. I have a $200 perfume that is basically full but the sprayer is stuck in the top. They say since it wasn't purchased 30 days ago they will not accept the exchange. I will no longer shop here. Taking my business to Ulta. There are so many other options for purchasing make up and skincare, Sephora will no longer be on that list. :) read more

Had a win and lose today regarding customer service at Sephora, I encountered a great person at the back register that was very attentive and helpful. I then walked to the front of the store and interrupted two gentleman who were talking. I asked my question and was presented with " my name is ..." and then that is my name, if you'd like help you can address me by my name. I apologized while dumb founded and then he showed me where the item was and then continued talking to his coworker. I take responsibility for not asking as a question my question but his answer and the subsequent chatter was unbelievably rude and unprofessional. It was uncalled for and disappointing. I was surprised to see so many negative reviews - I can only hope that the team has read the reviews and made necessary changes, because my experiences at this location have always been great. Pre-Covid, I had my makeup done here for a photo shoot, which is a great perk! I love that you get free makeup application and just have to buy $50 in product - such a great deal. I know that's pretty standard for a lot of makeup stores to offer, but this location is the most convenient for me and it's such a treat to get your makeup done! I love the selection of clean beauty here. The Sephora brand eyelash curler is my favorite. They also carry my favorite perfume line (Maison Louis Marie), my favorite dry shampoo (Drybar Detox Dry Shampoo), and my favorite lip mask (Laneige) - so it's nice to be able to grab all of those things in one spot. read more

GREAT experience here today. I'm a Sephora junkie, I usually just buy online, but a friend wanted to go here and duh of course I'm going to spend a couple hours with her at my favorite store. An excellent way to ignore my usual Sunday afternoon activity- laundry. Plus my husband & daughter were at Comicon, and mom needs some fun too! On Sephora.com you always get lots of freebies and samples thrown at ya, but when I've been to Sephora stand alone stores, they've been so stingy with their samples, which I thought was weird. Luckily, this particular store is not. They were more than willing to sample lots of products for me that I've been curious about, but was nervous to pay full price for if I found out I hated them. Although they do have a very relaxed return policy, which is cool. The staff here is AMAZING. Every single person said hello to us, and was more than willing to offer help and advice, without being overbearing and annoying. Two names I remember are Carol, who is super knowledgeable about skincare products, and Jill, who is an eyebrow guru. Everyone was lovely, and I wish I could remember all their names. One young woman even went in the back room and brought out some products for us that weren't on the shelves. Big thanks to her! It's a good sized store, about average for most of The Plaza merchants. Free parking is available on street, plus there are several free garages close by. I could go on and on (and on and on...) about Sephora products, but I won't bore you. Just know that if you need makeup, haircare, skincare, or perfume that's of a higher quality, from a designer brand, or something different or special that you won't find at a random Target-type store or drugstore, this is the place! Terrible!!!!!!!!! Customer service is absolutely terrible here. The checkout experience was the worst. She was unenthusiastic, and scanned my products in a hurry and as if she was angry. Handling my expensive products as if they were nothing. I spent well over $100 here- and was treated so poorly. I'd rather spend my hard and well earned money at another Sephora. So now that I have been to a number of Sephora all over the place I can say they have about the same pros and cons. Surprisingly this location was not on Yelp and forced me to make a way to zona rosa location to purchase things. But today as I was walking bam Sephora few stores away from MAC. The size of the place is reasonable maybe slightly bigger than oak park mall location. Clean and not to crowded on a Monday evening. I asked one lady for help and then asked is she helping someone if so could she find me. This girl was a chicken with her head cut off. She helped one then another for something dealing with the makeup application station. She begins running around again finding products as I'm waiting I decided whatever find another person. I then meet Maggie somewhat tall and vibrant. She helped us with everything I wanted and knew her stuff really well. As she was getting my sample the First Lady, while still running around, asked if I had been helped, why didn't you ask someone else to help me before when u are busy? I've been to a location in California where if someone is busy they call and send you in the front to meet with an employee, no one goes waiting aimlessly. I love Sephora and love the broad brand selection but the service sucks. I don't understand why the service is so bad... the associates are not commission based, associates are in specific categories... such as cashier, makeup artist, skincare, color, fragrance specialists. If you work at a makeup/skincare place that sells products, perhaps you should want to help people. I've gone numerous times, because of convenience the bad service hasn't stopped me from visiting but I am hopeful it will improve. I feel that every time I ask for help, I get a short answer to go away. The associates behave as if you're interrupting them... This is why I buy online, I can do my own research, free shipping, no snotty attitude, and the freebies and samples are better online than in store. read more

Kaitlyn helped me, whizzing between the aisles like the Energizer Bunny-- and got my samples on top of that. She was super fast, efficient, and friendly. This review is on the beauty studio only. I had a great experience from start to finish. I wasn't able to book an appointment online so I called and ended up speaking with the manager, Angela. She explained they are training new MUA so they don't have their chairs open to online appointments. But she was able to get me in for a custom makeover! My intent was to find new foundation and concealer. (If you spend $50 in store you can get a custom makeover!). My artist was Sarita and ladies she will make you look flawless. She listened to what I wanted and delivered! It was what I wanted and I found new makeup! I should've taken photos of my face but I didn't! I even received compliments as a walked to my car. Ladies do yourself a favor and book with Sarita if you plan to spend over $50 in store. read more

Came in to review the eye cream selection as I was looking for a new product to try. The brand I had been using was Murad but it retails for $86 and I didn't want to spend that much, this time around. The store was not that busy during the afternoon. I was browsing the skin care products and a gentleman came over to ask if I needed any help. Told him what I was looking for, and I asked if I could have a sample of the Drunk Elephant eye cream he recommended. Then, I asked for another recommendation as well as a take home sample, and he straight up denied my request! He said "giving you a second sample is just going to dry up in a day, so you're better off just sampling the Drunk Elephant". Uhhhh the point of my process and asking for 2 samples was so I have a couple options to try at home... if I'm going to purchase something over $60, I want to be able to compare. I don't care what you "think" is going to happen to a sample eye cream. Thanks to his laziness, I didn't have anything to compare the drunk elephant to as far as quality, so I didn't even purchase a single thing from Sephora, after the fact. Ended up purchasing an eye cream from Ulta. I read that you are allowed to ask for sample creams. I honestly think he didn't want to help me anymore/didn't want to make a 2nd sample for me because I perhaps asked for a sample in the first place and wasn't buying anything that day? I dont know how how is training went or what's allowed, but I just didn't like the overall experience with him. read more

I always feel very uncomfortable going into this store in particular. If there weren't brands there that were exclusive to sephora I wouldn't go there at all. The staff just makes me very uneasy and I feel like I'm being watched and I have no urge to ask them for help or take them up on their offers. After seeing the reviews I'm SO glad I'm not the only one who noticed this! The customer service here is SO bad! And the employees are extremely rude. They lied and said they didn't have a brand of perfumes (Lancôme) and were rushing us out of the store the entire time and of course as we head out we see the entire section. We had a similar experience at VS a couple doors down. I didn't know you needed training to just be a kind person but these employees CLEARLY do. I'm definitely over it. Sephora seriously needs to do better. All this inclusivity and diversity in their photo opps but their employees are clearly still profiling. Thank goodness for Nordstrom because I'm not interested in returning to Sephora as a VIB member I'm seriously disappointed in their behavior particularly at this store. read more

Customer service is the pits here. I've been a rouge since rouge came out. I never ask for help. I was left waiting indefinitely for a color recommendation and formulation of matte neutral lip product. I miss my old store where I knew the associates by name. I didn't not enjoy being ignored or forgotten completely. I am an independent shopper. I am not high maintenance. Poor customer service seems to trending amongst stores across the country. I'm glad I read the reviews I thought I was the only person that experienced bad customer service so today I went to this location to pick up in order I had places last night online and when I went in there the lady asked me if I need any help I said yes I'm here to pick up an order and I showed her my email that was sent to me confirming I bought the item that said on the email specifically to show them this email or your ID to receive my item once I got there the lady told me oh well I can't just look at that I need a barcode because I don't know who you are and I can't just give anybody the product and I need a confirmation number or a barcode and I showed her on the email again That also has a confirmation number lwhere and it said specifically on the email I can show her this email or my ID and I told her and she wasn't trying to take the email so I told her well I have my ID then if that's the problem !!! and she said oh well OK yeah that will work and then she had me follow her across the store for the item and told me to wait and then took off again and came behind me and said well are you ready??? and never took my ID. To confirm who I was at the end so I do not understand what the whole big deal was or the point!!! if she wasn't going to check my ID or to confirm who I was. read more

I've never had an issue with Sephora until this location. One associate dissed my makeup brand preference (bare minerals), another made rude comment about my skin care routine and the other acted like my dermatologist knew nothing about my skin. I was floored at the rudeness and snobbery. I literally walked away from one associate as she was going on and on about my "stupid" dermatologist and grilled me about exactly what scripts they had me on. I guess that extra training they had recently didn't work or sink in for this location. read more

Lets see, I came here the middle of the weekday, not really busy. Everything was very neat and organized on the shelves. I can't comment on how customer service or any of the workers are though because when I walked in, I didn't get a greeting. Was never asked if I was finding everything okay or if I needed help with anything. I even walked nearby a group of them to see if they will say something to me. Nope. Very disappointed because the treatment of customers varies. It is very apparent, maybe based on how you looked. I can hear the workers greet other customers that came in but I did NOT receive acknowledgment or help or ANYTHING. Got to say, they are always more nicer at the Oak Park Mall Sephora location. Don't think I'll give them any of my money at this location. I am disgusted by the discrimination of customer treatment here. Words to management: teach your employees to treat ALL customers the same, despite how customers will appear. I wore leggings, oversized sweater and was not helped. I hope it wasn't a race thing but I will just say, my appearance. Not a good experience. Went in and was browsing around looking at certain items. Picking up some than putting them back because I was indecisive. Most of them being matte lipsticks. It's my birthday so I wanted to take my time. Don't do that here. Don't browse. Just get in and get out. They will follow you around and stalk you like you are a criminal. The only nice one working (I believe her name was jasmine) asked if I was good and needed any help than left me the hell alone when I said no thank you. I know it's their job to ask, but coming up to me more than 10 times? Little excessive. At one point a girl with long curly black hair was like "Are we saying no to the two faced Queen Bee liquid matte? There are only three there." She literally went up behind me to see which one I pulled to look at. I put it back before she even made the comment to me thinking they might have a sample size up front near check out. She then pointed to me while talking to a girl with a short blonde bob type haircut. I know you are on the plaza and theft is probably high, but damn let a girl look and live. Let people shop and look around. That's the point of a makeup store. I'll just stick to Ulta where they sensor their product against left and let you shop. read more

I've been to many Sephora stores in many states, and this one is one of the best I've encountered. The store is always clean, the displays are organized and maintained, and the employees are friendly. Each time I come in here, it feels spacious and well laid out; a far cry from other locations where I have had to meander around crowds and through cramped aisles just to see the products. I was most recently here on Black Friday, and it was so calm and enjoyable inside that I didn't want to leave. 5 stars! read more

I visited this location today in the hopes of getting a few items and cashing in on my points plus redeeming a birthday gift. Most of the associates were standing around looking bored and when they did ask if I needed assistance it was with zero enthusiasm. The cashier was where I found the service to be truly disappointing. I was pulling up my VIB account on my phone as I was at the register and had given her my phone number to look it up. As I was about to look at the offers for my 986 points she handed me my receipt and item I bought (not even bagged) and told me to have a nice day. She never offered my points rewards to me or the birthday items. I felt rushed and like she just wanted me out of her line. I love Sephora and buy most of my staple items here but this kind of employee behavior affects how I feel about the brand. I honestly haven't been in one of these stores that I was amazed by customer service. This location has about the worst. I know with it being on the plaza they see a lot of theft. The fact that the employees say things like,"that's a good product." Then linger around you until you either 1)feel uncomfortable touching things 2) just walk away from that product altogether is simply nerve wrecking. Ask if I need help. The manager spends her time running around like a chicken with her head cut off trying to stop shoplifters. Virtually making her employees the same way. Crazy! You can barely get service bc everyone is just watching the customers. Weird very weird. Last night I went in for one thing Boscia and seen that the Marc Jacobs eyeliners had come out. Before I even got to the third color. Here's comes the manager walking up to an employee, (what she thought was a whisper) "watch them." Now I was offended and decided to just get the item I came for and left. No need to spend any more money at this location. Never mind the white older lady that just walked out with a basket of your merchandise because all blacks steal lol. Companies like this could prevent theft by simply sensor things. i've never been to this location before, and being cosmetic savvy, i very obviously thought i would enjoy my time being surrounded by all different types of cosmetic choices; but my friends and i were in there for less than 20 before they called security on us for absolutely no reason. once we finally checked-out and purchased our items, they kept talking about us very rudely over their mics. it felt very racially charged and i didn't appreciate it. i highly recommend that you give your money/business elsewhere. read more
