Sephora refused to accept and ship an order made by a customer because that customer uses her boyfriends credit card and ships to another name. When the boyfriend tried to call to confirm the order, instead of helping, Sephora refuses to speak (invoking privacy, when the only discussion is about validating payment) and accuses the customer of having a shared account or being a reseller. None of these are true or motivated. They imposed that the customer calls herself, despite being abroad and not speaking English well. When that is so, they claim that the only way to resolve that, because the account would be "shared" is that she order with a credit card under her name (which she does not have) and shipped to her address (which she can't do as currently stuck abroad due to COVID-19). Sephora stated that her boyfriend can't make an account himself as they would deny it also, despite this person being in good standing with valid credit cards and fraudulent history with Sephora (no business relationship with them) or anybody. Sephora has lost any common sense of customer service as well as no desire to help its customer who just wanted to order for herself. In this time of crisis, you would expect that Sephora would rather go out of its way to help and accommodate. but no, they decided that they will not help instead "reviewing account", refusing customers and refusing service that had noting fraudulent, illegal or even abnormal! How can this be. In addition, doing so, Sephora.com violated several rule for online business: 1. When taking and accepting an online order, the business must notify if it delays or cancel the order. In this case, Sephora.com had confirmed the order, provided a delivery date (May 26, 2020). It is only when checking on status on May 15, 2020, that teh customer noticed that the order had been cancelled (Authorization failed). meanwhile, the credit card bank confirmed that no attempt to run the card (and no denial) had taken place. By not having immediately notified the customer, Sephora.com broke the rule: https://www.ftc.gov/tips-advice/business-center/guidance/business-guide-ftcs-mail-internet-or-telephone-order . When pointed it to them, they couldn't care less. It is breaking the law... 2. When Sephora supervisors claimed that the customer was breaking it policy, they were unable to point to the policy in question or the appropriate clause. In fact they only manage to post rules for international shipment, which did not apply as shipping was within the US. It is also a FTC rule that an e-commerce company must display its policies and must provide them when request. Sephora refused to do so and by this again broke the law. 3. By refusing to accommodate request to assist Sephora also discriminated against their customer based on her origin as well as her disabilities (i.e. ADA). 4. By stating that her boyfriend would not be able to open an account, Sephora further showed today disrespect of customer service and denies service without cause. So far, the customer has asked Sephora.com * to explain and show their policy (per FTC rules). It has not happened. * how they can resolve this and have the order shipped (or reprocessed) as requested. Sephora refused offering only that customer must call herself and must order with her own credit card to her own shipping address. None of these are spelled out in any terms visible online (and as per the previous bullet Sephora has not provided the policy... it is not AFAIK in their policy). They even refused to let her boyfriend create an account to order Sephora has lost a repeat customer More importantly it has shown willingness to discriminate and not provide any service to a paying customer. With such an attitude, there are no good reason to actually shop at Sephora. Unfortunately, bullies like Sephora always win because, although they broke the law it is not worth suing them! So if you are a lawyer, journalist or consumer organization who wants to investigate and help, feel free to comment we will put you in contact with the customer. It is only if the public react negatively that they will pay attention. Also I would like to congratulate sephora because this was my third time at the store receiving a service - I must admit that the two previous times were a disaster - I felt feeling terrible but this time despite the first issue I named before when I got to the beauty studio I felt I got in to an oasis of freedom and truly felt loved - First of all I met this girl and she introduced me to Amora Pacific - she did my skin prep and I always saw this brand but I never gave it much attention because I didn't think that my skin was as beautiful as of the Asian women but I met Stephanie Albarracin from Ecuador and she spoke to me in Spanish which it made me fall in love with the products - I tried the under the eye roller depufiness cream with caffeine and that changed my look my horrible under the eye bags started disappearing and then she applied the serum - my skin was extremely fried and she helped me moisturizer it - we used this time the 104 cream moisturizer from Amora Pacific and then the spray it was truly really wonderful - after she gave me some samples that I am going to try and I am afraid that very soon I am going to switch to Amora pacific from caudalie before I as in to Lancome now I am going to probably try at least the moisturizer. Now my make up was done in a way that exceeded by far all of my utmost expectations I had Brielle doing my make up and she was unbelievable she was so tuned in to me and my needs and painted my face as a painter with a canvas she erased all my concerns and made my smoky eyes amazing using the small palette of smashbox i couldn't believe what she did so good my face looked absolutely beautiful I felt loved and great and I was literally a different person from when I came- words cannot describe the difference that an amazing make up artist can do on go someone's life - takes away your insecurities makes you feel beautiful and confident - I gave her a big hug when my service was done and I was so happy - we set the make up and it lasted me until the next day - I didn't want to take it off - I took multiple pictures with it and I was complemented a lot for how beautiful and good I looked that night. My sister is a shopper and a damn good one. She tends to lend towards high end retails for her shopping expiditions.She has good taste, so of course Sephora is one of her favorite stomping grounds. I was very disturbed to learn of a recent visit to this location. Diana(my sister). was making her purchases at the counter when she laid her new white Iphone near the c.c machine. We all the the layout. Upon walking out of the store. She realized she forgot her phone. She raced back, and the sales people knew she had just left, and ask what happened. Two gracious workers went with her to the counter to ask if any one had seen the phone. No one had a clue. So, one of the workers gave her a phone and told her to call it. As it rang from below the register. The man who rang up her purchases never uttered a word when asked twice if he had seen a phone. Hearing it ring. He said "Oh, I put it away.. and some other lame response. My sister said that they had a long line behind them, and she didn't want to prolong the drama. The phone was returned and the holidays can proceed. Just a word thank those who assisted, but to Sephora check cameras. You do have shady people managing your customers money and trust. DO NOT GET YOUR MAKE UP DONE HERE!!!! If I could give this place 0 stars I would. Make up artist did my make up in 20 minutes and charged me for an hour. Would have looked better if I let a 5 year old do my make up. The Sephora worker didn't wear gloves, he was rude and short with me the entire time. Do yourself a favor and do your own make up if you have a special event, as this place will absolutely ruin your whole night! Make up artists name was Anthony btw. Went to get some devacurl samples bc it's expensive so I wanted to try it first. I clearly and politely asked to try 4 products and the employee only gave me 2 small samples. If you have curly hair, you know you need more for even one time in the shower. She had curly hair herself but didn't care. I was nice about it and felt too uncomfortable to ask again for the other products or more so I could actually try it out. read more
