We were just told that they do not offer free makeup consultations anymore. But your competitor MAC next door still does. Well after my wife bought her stuff, she went next door and made an appointment for a free 15 minute makeup consultation. So not sure how much more regular and loyal our family will be with this brand...? Atmosphere - Good size location. Always organized. Typically plenty of employees. Plenty of mall parking. Open 7 days a week from 10am or 11am to 6pm or 7pm. Service - Good, except for the change of no longer offering free makeup consultations. Price - Expensive, but that is the cost for quality. Owner Comment - Oh, I did not know you were owned by LVMH. Congrats on your success since 1970 with 340+ brands and your own private label. 1993 - Acquired by Dominique Mondonnaud - Created their assisted self serve program. 1997 - LVMH purchased the company. 1998 - First US location in NY. I order online from Sephora regularly online. Each order advised to select up to two free sample items. Now I will say their disclaimer on the page says that they have limited supplies and blah blah blah. However, you'd think that every once in a while I would get the free samples I select. No such luck! I really feel it's a major rip off to make an offer with a disclaimer to CYA, knowing that you're not going to be able to fulfill a request. Adding insult to injury, the order does include a sample that I'm not interested in and will never use. If this were an isolated incident I'd not complain, but their switch-roo even occurred when I selected my free birthday gift. Tired of being treated shabbily and not receiving even one of my requested free samples. I suggest Sephora stop posting items they're out of on the website and find someone who can manage their website supply chain better, or this customer will shop elsewhere. read more

Normally order products from Nordstrom but I could not wait for shipping due to heading out of town on business. While I had been researching which brand I would switch too should I even do so prior- there's nothing like a smidge of new information to have one do so. Upon looking into what I needed for full coverage foundation and a blemish control concealer- I knew I needed a color match (cannot get this online). Upon entering I was greeted by a a rep- I shared I needed some assistance and she happily helped me. I shared which brands I was looking for and she set me up with a couple of each that she thought may go best with my skin tone. When I say I hadn't been color matched in some time- it was an understatement. Also, going from Mac to Savy Minerals and now to Armani Beauty/Nars it was much needed. I'm a low maintenance girl living in a high maintenance world. I've been wanting to go into Sephora for months but I've been too intimated. I finally had a pleasant shopping experience at Sephora. After being ignored at the JC Penney location. I decided to go to the Summit mall to get some beauty essentials. I walk in and the staff was friendly and helpful. Leslie helped me with my shopping. I had so many questions about skin care and makeup, and Leslie answered them all. This location has a lot of products and good brands. They have almost all the items from their website. I had a few products on my online wishlist, but I needed to make sure they were the right color for my skin. Leslie tried the products on me and explained to me how to applied them. I am very thankful because I am a makeup amateur and I do not know how to put it on. I also got 15% off my purchase because I signed up to their "Beauty Insider" program. Came in for some face primer, it stinks that I can't touch or get any samples due to COVID- but that isn't the employees fault. On a weekday, there weren't many people in the store to require me to wait in the hot sun, which was fantastic. I was helped immediately with a very knowledgeable team member and I will be using my new primer tomorrow for some photos, fingers crossed I will be able to be make the stuff look good ! In a pre- COVID world I would just have made an appointment and spent the $50 on the makeover to have the piece of mind that my face looked its best. Yet, with COVID there are different rules and we have to roll with the proverbial punches. I had forgot my foundation back home so this was my life saver. I was so glad to find a Sephora in the area. It was in a nice quiet shopping center. This place was also pretty quiet. The staff were really friendly and they was able to find the color of my foundation. I actually forgot which color I used. This location pretty much had a lot of products in stock and of course I did buy more than I anticipated just because. Overall I had no problems here, I got what I needed and some lol. Whenever I need a new foundation this is my place. They now have a computer program that take 3 pictures of your skin at different places one on your cheek, neck and forehead. Then lets you choose your desired coverage, choice of foundation liquid or powder, and how much you are willing to spend. In a few seconds it lets you know which brands have a color that will match your skin. It is pretty cool, that you don't have to try six different shades on your face to find one that looks like it matches. I settled on a heavier coverage Dior foundation. A little pricey at 48.00 a bottle, but well worth it. I only need 2 small dots of foundation to cover my face. I always get good service here. That has never been a problem. Yes, this place is pricey, but they sell high end quality makeup. read more

I stopped wearing make-up when I left my corporate life, stockings, and high heels behind on the East Coast and joined the jeans and flip flop crowd at my more casual business out west. Then I had to go to Europe for business, and suddenly, I decided I needed to refresh my three-year-old pile of caked up make-up from Walmart that I keep stored away for my once-a-year use. I walked into Sephora, scared of all these girly girls with the perfect eyeliner and painted on flawless skin. There were things there I had never seen before. Whaddya mean you apply foundation with a BRUSH?! I asked for one of the women who worked there to help me out and 10 minutes later, I looked at the mirror. And smiled. I LOVE Sephora so this review is not about the whole brand but about this specific store. It really frustrates me that they don't open until 11am on Sunday- even during the holiday. Most malls open at 10am so having to wait an extra hour just seems so late. When I do get to this store right at 11:00 they are extremely overstaffed. I don't mind help (actually enjoy it- will write about it in the next paragraph) however when you have 5 different people come up and offer you help it get seems like overkill. The nice things about the store is that they seem to consistently have strong inventory- they've never been out of something I need which I like. Also, when I do want someone to help me they are FANTASTIC! For example, two weeks ago I really wanted to try out purple lipstick- a woman helped me and we tried on 4-5 different options before I found what I liked. She was awesome with offering suggestions and when I was struggling with application she helped me there too. Unfortunately the fact that they do not open until 11 am makes this review a 3 star, not a 4 star, review. When I was there on Sunday this past weekend there were 5 people that entered the store right at 11am which makes me think that I'm not the only person who wishes they were open at 10am. read more

All the people who work at this Sephora are super helpful and knowledgeable. My favorite is Chris because her make up is always perfect and she takes the time to really figure out what look you are going for. Today she helped me with a sample of Farsali Unicorn Essence, a water based dual purpose serum that is not only good for the skin but also a primer. I saw Farrah use it on Twitter and have been obsessed with trying it. Chris also showed me a new Naked highlight/contour palette that is a cream/powder combo. She suggested that I come back to get a lesson on how to use it and made an appointment for me. Today the preview had some interesting items. A new Rainforest of the Sea highlighting eyeshadow palette from Tarte. I was excited to see that but again like the other Rainforest of the Sea palettes this one was all glitter or shimmer and only one matte. Also previewed was a gel cream combo moisturizer from Boscia, and a contour palette from Natasha Denona, and a gel to foam cleanser from Drunk Elephant. My niece went with me and she found a great stick/cream foundation by Hourglass after having her color IQ done. It just melted into her skin and truly was a great match. That is one of the best things about Sephora, no more make up mistakes because you can try everything on. read more

(This is only a NO-TYPO version of the previous review, since that one got too much typo it hurts me to read my own review. LOL) I visited this place a few days ago. And as y'all know us guys don't really know too much about makeup products. As I walked into the store I instantly felt lost lol. After a few seconds walking around aimlessly, I finally decided to walk to an employee and show her a picture of the product that I want on my iPhone, and she looked at it for less than a second and then already know where it is and walked me there and gave me the product I wanted. I also asked her a question about a brand and she answered my question in details which I really appreciate. The entire shopping experience was pleasant, didn't feel like I was getting judged for not knowing anything..... lol. Stress free, shame free, unlike some other makeup stores, judgy as hell when I didn't know concealer has different skin colors(I was buying a present for a girl). Oh I was asked if I have the loyalty program and I said no, and she asked if I wanna join and I said no, and she didn't bother me on it anymore, unlike Costco, be like forcing u to join it with an emotional knife and makes u feel super stressed out about not joining it. read more

So I'm finally entering womanhood when it comes to makeup (almost 25 years into my life but better late than never amirite) and I need all the help I can get. I just don't understand makeup. Like at all. However, these nice folks at Sephora are always patient and go above and beyond to 1) not make me feel stupid and 2) make sure I'm using the right products so I don't look like Mimi from the Drew Carey Show. One thing I really appreciate about this store is everyone is willing to help me stay within my budget, cause this stuff adds up QUICK. They don't push $100 Kardashian inspired creams onto me and swear they'll work. For example, I went in today to get a new moisturizer and a different powder to go on top of my foundation. Jessica took the time to show me how to properly apply the products I already use, and then gave me recommendations based on what would work with them. She wasn't pushy or exasperated about my lack of beauty knowledge, but more than happy to explain what I was doing wrong and how to fix it. I've also come to this store for makeovers (for days I give up and don't trust myself to do things right before an important work event), and I leave looking like a whole new woman. They also have classes that I've yet to attend, but I plan on going to in the near future. Sometimes I get frustrated I can't contour and "smoke my eyes out with a charcoal eyeshadow", but I'll get there one day with the help of everyone at Sephora. read more

I usually have to shop online as I live on the North side of Lake Tahoe and do not have a car, so I was THRILLED to make it into my favorite store. I have only been to a Sephora in Orange County and had a terrible experience that almost put me off from Sephora entirely. But the two day shipping is just too good... Anyways, I had a gentleman with fabulous purple eyelashes help me find the perfect baby pink lip gloss. They were quite busy and I wanted a color match on a foundation, I didn't think they'd have time but they fit me in super quick knowing I was rushed. I am a makeup fiend. I absolutely love Sephora and can literally spend hours in here! This particular store is nice... Staff were all helpful and sweet and knew their makeup 101. I came in to purchase a new brush set because I left my old one at the hotel during a trip recently :( Prices aren't cheap. This isn't Walmart or rite aid. These are high end makeup products so expect to spend quite a few bucks in here. (You really do get what you pay for). I honestly always leave Sephora spending at least 100 bucks. No joke. Makeup is a huge interest and hobby of mine so Sephora is one of my favorite stores. Usually I shop on their website, but if I need to be color matched to something and have to pick up samples to try out before I commit, I gotta come to the store. Unfortunately, whenever I have gone to this particular Sephora, there is not a soul to be found. When someone does finally show up, they seem really standoffish and not personable. This Sephora used to be the only Sephora in town, but now there is a Sephora inside JCPenney in the Meadowood Mall! So the only reason to go here is if you're looking for higher-end brands that SiJCP doesn't carry (Laura Mercier, Givenchy, Guerlain, YSL, etc.) read more

I love this Sephora! They've been super nice and helpful to me, and they have the product knowledge and full on make up application knowledge that the Sephora at the JCPenney does not. However, because there is so much packed into the store, sometimes you might feel like you're a little lost when you're trying to track something down. I just ask one of any of the staff on the floor and they are more than happy to assist you. Most of my ratings for various stores are based on whether I've received excellent customer service, combined with a wide variety of products available and good old-fashioned product knowledge from the staff. Sephora is my happy place. As a makeup enthusiast, I come to Sephora whenever I'm in need of a little retail therapy. The staff here is always polite. The employees always ask me if I need any help, but not in a harassing way. They will also leave you alone if you just feel like looking around. I love how all the Sephora stores allow you to sample each item of makeup. This is how it should be everywhere! This store is just like any other Sephora I've been to. It's the only Sephora store in the Reno/Tahoe area. It's moderately sized - not as big as some of the ones in larger cities like Vegas or LA but also not small. Staff could've been friendlier, but I know my shit and what I'm looking for. Thankfully I didn't have to rely on them - I go purely on my own knowledge and my extensive purchasing power of beauty products...plus, I've got my BFF in make-up and beauty crime with me. That said, this store is like countless Sephoras across the US but this one is newer and doesn't have well worn written all over it...yet. Not quite sure what was up with the attitude from one of the workers, but when he realized I was about to drop a $200+ bomb of purchases, he was suddenly very nice to me. Prior to that it was a quick assessment of look me head to toe and found me not worthy. A bit like, "She's not cool or elite enough to merit a hello." Suddenly I was when I had lots of product in my basket. Whatevs. Another worker made up for it when I had some questions and she was knowledgeable enough for me to feel somewhat confident in asking. Pro: Clean store, fairly well organized. Con: It's a bit like other Sephoras and there really is nothing marked to make them distinct like the others. When all is said and done, I think I prefer to shop Sephora online. I would probably come to the store to see if they had/have testers of stuff I want to try. Then I'll purchase from www.sephora.com. There's a variety of beauty items- that's a good thing. Customer service is not that good. I observed many people getting help being asked if they needed help or if they were looking for something in particular and no one asked me. I love going into businesses sometimes not dressed to impress just in sweats to see how I'm treated and here I don't ever get asked if I need help. I'm not really into expensive brand-name stuff, but my little sister got me hooked on this place. The selection is downright ridiculous, and they stock tons of Urban Decay, which I love. There are a few staple items that I buy here, like Bad Girl Eyeliner, Urban Decay eyeshadow, and Lorac foundation, but the true reason I love Sephora is the samples. Walk into any Sephora in the country and tell them you want to try a new **insert beauty product here** and that you'd like a few samples to see which one you like best. They have these great little plastic containers that they will literally fill with ANYTHING you ask for. Samples of perfume are generously sized and come in a mini-perfume spray bottle (super cute). The employees are mostly nice (there are a few snooty ones on occasion) and insanely knowledgeable about their products. They send these girls away to training seminars non-stop, and it shows. Screw those stuck up Mac bitches. If you want to overpay for make-up make it worth you while. read more

The staff here is remote and seemingly busy,with something,else I prefer Ulta on S. Virginia St since there is a more down to earth approach with an excellent and well priced selection available. The selection of high end products is amazingly extensive. I love that so many products are available to swatch. The store is clean and well organized. I have to drop my rating down to three stars because the employees make my experience there somewhat uncomfortable pretty much every time I shop here. Still, I love the selection and appreciate being able to try before I invest in more expensive items. When walking into the store, I am usually greeted and asked if I want any help. Later when I want to check out I sometimes find the check out counter abandoned. More than once all of the employees have seemingly vanished while a line begins to form. Two or three employees appear from the back when customers start wondering out loud where all the employees are. I can't help but worry about the security of the store when employees abandon the register and the floor. Not cool. Recently, I got quite an ear full of employee gossip with a makeup consultation. The experience was awkward at best. I would rather just get information about the products. The employees look professional and know a fair amount about the products. If they acted more like professionals this store could be top-notch. read more

I'm a little bummed to write this review. I generally only like writing good reviews. I'm a Makeup Artist so there isn't a lot that I need help with or don't order online when it comes to makeup. But, when I do need something in town, I go to Sephora. They have a great selection of a few of my favorite makeup lines so it's great for re-stocking my kit at the last minute. Unfortunately, every time I walk in, no one ever offers to help me or even says hello. I'm a pretty firm believer in good customer service makes the business and it's a good thing the world doesn't revolve around that theory. To be completely ignored in a retail store is oddly alienating. All I can ever think of is how fast I want to get out of there once I've purchased what I'm looking for. Enjoy my money Sephora. So I've never been very big into make up before. I have generally just kept it to the vey bare minimum with some eyeliner and mascara- occasionally something fun on the lips, but that was the extent of my makeup knowledge. Seeing as I'm 25, I felt it was time to grow up a little and see if I could actually start learning about how to do up my face without looking like a total clown. This Sephora has been nothing but patient and knowledgable. Alyssa helped me find some really great eyebrow products and explained exactly how to use them. She really took the time and effort to make me feel comfortable with the product- especially for how expensive it was. This store has a HUGE theft problem and is way understaffed to be able to provide any customer service. In my last few visits, I have arrived home to Incline and found a mascara missing from the box they rang up and baged, and old sample eyeliner in new packaging and the most recent, no blush brush in the newly purchased Benefit Dallas Blush. After two days of trying to reach a manager, I spoke with a store clerk that said there was nothing they to do for me over the phone. I would need to go back into their store to get the missing piece to my purchased product. Theft is not exactly the stores fault, but their staff should be aware and checking products at the counter for their customers. It is a risk to shop at this Sephora and they will not go out of their way to make it right when their customer has been shorted. read more

I struggled with the star-rating for this business, but I want to give it a four because of the employees I worked with. I signed up for a 45-minute makeup consultation as a way to investigate options for a new makeup look. I'm not super girly and I don't generally wear much (if any) makeup, so I wanted to talk to someone to get a quick, natural, 10-minute daily routine. I stated as much both in my online submission and when I met with Alyssa. I liked Alyssa, and I think that she did a good job. I think she did a *great* job in selling makeup. Where I don't think she did as great of a job was in listening to what I wanted. I left the store having no less than 12 products on my face. It took her 30 minutes to do my makeup, which is definitely not a 10-minute routine for a makeup novice. It took three Neutrogena makeup wipes to get all of it off me. What I like is that she did give me verbal instructions and tips on how to achieve the look she was creating. She tried out options on my face (e.g., contouring), that she recognized were things I wouldn't do but that she just wanted to give me an idea of what they would look like should I go that route. She was super friendly and chatty, and didn't pressure me to buy anything specific (though obviously she has product preferences and she shared those with me). Sephora seems pretty expensive, but that's probably just because of my inexperience (the husband didn't seem too shocked). The cashier was super friendly and signed me up for the buyer's program and all that, gave me some samples, and explained how everything worked. I definitely think I'll go back to Sephora for makeup, though I'm not sure if I'm looking for a consultation this is where I'll go. read more

I've been going to this Sephora store for 7 years+. I have been part of the VIB Rouge program for 3 years. I have always loved my trips into the shop. The last two times have made me so uncomfortable. Employees followed me down every isle, like I was a felon. They never asks me questions, just stare at me with no conversation. I feel like I'm an inconvenience interrupting their social time because I come early,(around store opening); I have two sons under two I always make sure they are completely entertained by a new toy and that they NEVER touch samples or product. Most recently I did not even shop for what I wanted I just got what I knew I needed so I could leave, I could not shake the uncomfortable feeling of being watched, being watched without anyone asking if I needed help or what I was looking for. Sephora is probably my favorite store, ever. I love beauty products and love to try new ones, which Sephora has plenty of. I have had bad experiences with customer service at this location at times. There have been times I've needed help, and there is nobody in sight, or they seem to actively be avoiding the customers (strange.) Other times, I'm asked 15 times if I need help when I'm just browsing. That being said, I have had many a knowledgeable, friendly and helpful sales associate approach me and help me with my purchases over the course of my shopping experience at this location. Do beware, however, of the most eager sales people of all, the reps for the individual companies. While it is nice to learn about a company's products in detail, if you want an unbiased opinion, this is not the person to get it from. read more
