Worst sephora i've ever been to. Asked a sales associate for help and she gave me a look somewhere in between fear and disgust. Said she'd send someone over to me and I waited for maybe 15 minutes and no one came. The other sales associate on the floor was somehow avoiding me while simultaneously eyeing me down like I was stealing. I'm also pretty sure they sent out a security guard to watch me. Didn't realize waiting for a sales associate in the area I was told to wait in could look so suspicious. What happened to customer service here? Hardly any of the sales girls want to help you on the sales floor. It was like pulling teeth to get Ruby to help me and she finally sold me the wrong product because she didn't have any insight on products and basically make-up. She color matched me wrong and when I took it home it was two shades darker than my actual skin color. I went back the next day hoping new sales people would be fresh and knowledgeable but that wasn't the case. Also this location is out of a lot of product. Even the most useful person just told me to buy online but when I suggested what color? It wasn't able to give me an answer! Isn't that your job? Literally the rudest Sephora staff I've ever encountered. We were looking for nail care and nail polish because I had broken a nail. Asking a sales associate if they carried nail polish or nail care items, she rudely told us to "try Ulta". Coming over from the west coast and the LA area, many of the Sephora stores carry nail care products and luxury brands. But to reply with such a snippy and rude comment...Are you serious? We literally left, hopped over to Nordstroms where a gracious sales associate sold us over $200 in Dior nail care and cosmetic products. The very real value in a brick and mortar beauty store is the ability to try before you buy, and Sephora is awesome at this--even giving occasional samples to take home. Now that I need all new non-toxic make-up for fertility reasons, I headed to Sephora to buy new everything. Unfortunately that did not work out so well. Their in-store selection of clean make-up was extremely limited. I needed blush but they only had four powders to choose from, all sparkly. I needed eyeliner in a purple color, but nada. They had one sample of a low-toxic (3/10 according to the EWG) mascara, but I couldn't find a single review of it on Beautypedia and didn't want to spend $13 on a semi-toxic experiment, so bleh. The real problem was with the under-eye concealer. The first two were terrible, but the sales girl said there was a third I could try. She had a cotton ball up in my eyeball before it occurred to me to ask "What is in this make-up remover?" Big whoops. The third concealer was better I think, but I looked it up in the EWG database and it is a 5/10 on the toxic scale--the exact same as the MAC concealer I am looking to replace. No thanks! On my way home, my left eye actually teared up, I assume from the make-up remover. By the time I got home it was burning. Bear in mind that I am switching to non-toxic make-up for fertility reasons, I am not allergic to anything. But that stuff was nasty! So this is my complaint, and where I think Sephora has a real opportunity to shine: Clean beauty is here to stay, and it is one of only two times in a woman's life when she starts from scratch (to be fair the first time the woman is a girl and doesn't have money, so really it is the first time!) Whether due to allergies, infertility, cancer, or just general health, a lot of people are making the switch. Sephora needs a much better selection and their girls need to be trained. I would have come home with a whole new collection, but instead all I have is some eye shadow and a burning eye. read more

Stopped by this location and most of the staff was very friendly, but the woman at the beauty station (she had her hair in a bun and a white flower pinned on her shirt) was walking back to the beauty station and literally pushed me out of the way as I was browsing to get back to her station. Definitely won't be back as I generally don't expect to be manhandled while I'm shopping. The above paragraph was a review I wrote on my phone while I was in the store, and I stand by it; however, I feel like the review is incomplete and not a very well rounded review so I am going to add more. The star rating is going to stay the same, however. I've been to this location several times and have left feeling a little 'meh' about it. The store is cramped as the aisles tend to be very narrow, which is part of what led to the incident above, I'm sure. Strangely enough the back of the store where the fragrance is located is very open, which just adds to the awkward feeling of the rest of the store. Because of the size of the store in general, there is less stock than you might find in another Sephora. In general, this store just isn't very enjoyable to shop in. The above incident in the first paragraph was sort of the icing on the cake, so to speak. The manager I spoke with said that the particular employee rarely works at their store, but that really doesn't matter. If an employee is at your store, then they represent your store. When you have an employee who thinks its okay to lay her hands on a customer and push them aside (that is technically assault), then that employee represents your location. Period. I like Sephora. I will continue to shop at Sephora. But there's nothing to bring me back to this location. read more

Friendliest Sephora employees I have ever come across, especially because I was not even wearing makeup at the time! They showed me many versions of a type of product I was looking for and got me checked out quickly. The men and women here definitely seem genuinely kind and enjoy their jobs. Where do I even begin? Had a girls shopping spree with my cousin and sister-in-law...much needed! (all the guys even took the kids so we can shop with ease!) Ashley greeted us very warmly, asked if we were shopping around or if we had anything particular in mind. Very thorough questions. My sister-in-law got matched to a lovely Estee Lauder Foundation by mere sight not using the Foundation IQ, based on her skill as a Matching Champion as her manager complimented her. ABSOLUTELY TRUE!!! looked through the bottles, her complexion her forearm about twice and then we all waited to see if she had indeed made a match...we all released a breath we didn't realize we were holding and cheered as she got it right! The manager was amazing, I am sorry I don't remember your name but you were truly FANTASTIC. I don't have all that good of an experience in the Sephora's of my hometown in Los Angeles but Ladies you are truly incredible. O Glorious Sephora! I'm a beauty product junkie, and Sephora and Ulta stores are my favorite. I'm a regular at the Fashion Place Sephora, and it's nice to have another option in the Salt Lake area. It's in a nice location within the Nordstrom side of City Creek Center near Main Street. Just a few steps off the escalator from the parking garage. The store is new, clean, and staffed with friendly and helpful people. The products are the same from store to store, but the layout was a little more user-friendly than Fashion Place. I love their selection of Philosophy products, and they had lots of the fun gift packs I like to give out for birthdays. Make sure to get a Beauty Insider card, which gives you a free birthday gift and discounts through the year. read more

I spend an upwards of a few thousand dollars a year in Sephora and Online and every time I walk into this location, I get followed around and looked at like I'm a thief or something. Thank you Sephora for coming to our town! I am OBSESSED with all the different kinds of sample kits. I have a eyeshadow one, lipstick and fragrance. At just $30-$50 or less a pop it's seriously incredible when you are on a budget. The sales girls are really knowledgable and helpful. The last 2 times I went in there they offered to help me pick out exactly what I needed and color matched on my skin for me. I really like how sanitary they try to keep their samples as well. A little station at the end of the isle has swabs, cotton balls, rubbing alcohol, make up remover etc. If you think you can't afford this make up, think again. Don't waste your money at the Grocery Store any more. You only have one face, put some good stuff on it! read more

This really is a place for the beauty product junkie though like Nicole B. said. If you're a fan of high end makeup like Urban Decay, NARS, Smashbox, Too Faced, etc. or whether your feel like buying high end skin and body care like the Clarisonic or Philosophy products, Sephora is sure to have it. As far as this Sephora compares to the one in Fashion Place, I think they're very similar in terms of layout and their staff is just as helpful and friendly. This location's Sephora is the worst I have ever been to. The staff is rude and completely ignorant. I'm Asian so apparently the stereotype is that I won't buy anything. That doesn't mean that the workers should totally disregard you and go to another customer that will "pay." I DO love Sephora and I DO buy things occasionally when I have the money, but that doesn't mean that they have to be super rude to the customer. At the check out, the lady behind the counter was gossiping to another worker while she way ringing me up. I have never in my life experienced anything like this. I especially love getting advice on skincare products, there's a woman there (I wish I could remember her name, cool lady with long blonde hair) who has been SO helpful in getting my skin under control. I signed up just to write this review. If you want a wide range of products, accompanied by terrible customer service, head down here! Everywhere I've ever worked, I've learned that to turn away shoplifters, you greet and interact as often as possible. The attention will drive them away. However, my sister and I came in, and she while she was holding the Sephora shopping bag to show she was shopping, she was placing products in her reusable shopping tote because she was running out of room in their bag. Instead of having someone approach us and ask us not to do that, get another bag, etc., we were immediately told to leave, never return, and had mall security called us on. While we did put items in our tote, we would have willingly gotten another bag. My sister was a longtime fan of Sephora, but this customer service was terrible. Had they communicated better, we would have known the rules. However, the employee was abrasive, rude, and had not given us the benefit of the doubt. This is in desperate need of better customer service. read more

I really like this sephora. Its the closest one to me and also the store with the largest selection of makeup compared to other sephora stores in slc. I went to fashion place malls sephora and they didnt have the entire sephora line. Their customer service also wasnt that great. HOWEVER everytime i go to the sephora in city creek mall, i am greeted with a warm welcome and always offer help without being pushy. They also are great at making good conversation and selling items. They definitely know how to do their jobs well without making the customer feel uncomfortable which is sometimes a fine line. Bottom line, definitely go to this sephora. I like the diverse group of makeup artists here, their friendliness, that they have the ENTIRE sephora collection, and organization of the store. I had the absolute BEST shopping experience at this sephora. I came to return some make up and the cashier helping me (a beautiful and nice girl names Rachel :)) showed actual sympathy about not being able to find a make up that works with my oily skin. After she processed my return she left the cashier stand to come help me! It was busy as hell too! She grabbed me a bunch of generous samples and told me to come back if I liked any of them.
