Every once in a while I remember that NPS exists. It's not a place that I frequent, due to it's location, but when I do make my way out there, it's a wonderland. The inventory always changes, so you don't really go in with a shopping list necessarily. NPS sells groceries, clothing, household wares-pretty much anything. I found some bath & body works lotion for $2.99 a bottle. There are designer items as well as overstocked or damaged goods. Do not shop here unless you want the "security manager" to grab you up and use excessive force. And no, there was no shoplifting involved. I asked a customer to please move away from me and she called me a racist but nothing racist was said to her. She had security called. This dickhead with fucked up eye told me to calm down but I wasn't really pissed or excited so I told him I didn't need to calm down because I was. He told to leave, I asked to pay for the thing I wanted to buy and he told me no. We argued and he repeatedly called me stupid while walking behind me. I told him fuck you, I will defend myself. He kept repeatedly saying get out, I asked to speak to the store manager, he refused. As I got outside I turned to face him and told him not to follow me to my car. He kept getting in my face I spit on him, I felt threatened. I was wrong for spitting. He proceeded to grab my left and twist it super hard while bent over the cart return. I was trying to grab my bracelet from falling and when I tried to keep in it my grasp he kept tightening his sweaty hand on my wrist. I called the police but he was trying not to let that happen either so I screamed. He claimed I hit him 3 times, that didn't happen. The police reviewed the video and found no evidence of me hitting him 3 times. He had his hand on me for over 10 minutes. This idiot should've just taken my license plate and description and let me leave. I guarantee the cops would've showed up at my door. Prepare for a lawsuit security guy and NPS. read more

Watch your backs!! Had $220 worth of electronic I HAD PRE-PAID..... it STOLEN from my cart when I turned my back for a second. Called store and the admitted THEFT HAPPENS OFTEN. I won't be shopping here again! Until they research the thieves who constantly target customers at their stores. No sympathy when I called either. I wanted them to pull the security footage. Nps used to be great ive spent well over $150,000 here over a 5 year period ,never had a problem ive even given their employees $100.00 bills on multiple occasions just for helping me load products into my truck .Over the last 4 months ive noticed their prices have became way higher often times higher then when you buy the stuff new.I only buy when the stuff is 50 -70 % off otherwise its not a good deal in my eyes here generally.. Up until today they enacted a policy you cant buy things in bulk that's the only reason I have shopped here. This store made it to where it is because of resellers something im not but they turned me down from buying a product that has been on the shelf for 3 months Ive been watching it to go on sale it finally did I went to buy it in bulk they told me I cant do that I said what's the difference if I buy it or someone else buys it isn't the goal of a business to make money. The Manager tammi was very rude and unprofessional about the whole situation ive watched on multiple occasions her interactions with other customers as well as employees and was always mind boggled that this is how she treats people that are taking their hard earned money to use at the store that put food on her table . Shame on her as far as the employees go they are great how unfortunate for them to have to take orders from her. I hope Nps goes back to its original roots and remembers its base that got it to where it is. I have been to the NPS store in Layton multiple times. Today I made the terrible error of going to their "bargain" area where all the resellers go. It was chaos. The resellers ( you can tell because they need multiple carts for all their stuff and they are at that locations all the time) were shoveling through the bins throwing merchandise they did not want everywhere. One was throwing unwanted merchandise with such abandon she struck an elderly man in the face. I have been told the resellers get so carried away the police have been called. NPS needs to correct this. read more

If I could rate this place lower I would. Every person that I have interacted with at this place is rude, and unhelpful. They act as though they are doing you a favor for allowing you to shop there. What ever you save, which isn't much, isn't worth the hassle. One of the worst retail shopping experiences out there. read more

I found a shipping cart and took it with me to nps to shop. As I was leaving a woman in a golf cart drives up and tells me that I have their shopping cart and I need to empty my things from it and return it. I explained that I had brought the cart with me. I also started that it wasn't their cart as my cart was much smaller than their carts. Also their carts had their name and mine did not. She said that it was theirs and I needed to return it out they would call the police. Although I had just purchased more than I could carry since I had brought the cart, I want pleased to give up the cart, but I really didn't need it or the hassle and apparently they wanted it way more than I did. So as I was walking the cart back, I ran into a friend. He had just been jumped the night before and was in bad shape. I was concerned for him and was listening to his story about what had happened, when a large Polynesian man approached me and told me to give him the cart. I told him no problem I just needed my things out of it. He told me I had 5 seconds it he would dump my things out and take it. I asked for a supervisor he said he was one How name was Junior. He was incredibly rude, threatened me and basically stole my shipping cart. Not a good experience to say the least. read more

If you are ready for a scavenger hunt this is your place. If you don't like searching through racks and shelves this isn't your place. That said, I love shopping here, and hit it up when I am in SLC. I have found a lot of high end name brand clothes for a fraction of the retail price. It doesn't stop at clothing, they have everything you can find in any type of store. If you have never been here you must go. It's a fascinating place. The best way I can describe it is China and Mexico combined with a touch of Italian finery all in one place. They have everything but Groceries here. The best thing I got were Italian pull on Tennis Shoes. They are the most comfortable, perfect fitting pair of shoes I own and trust me I have lots of shoes. They have a World Class Designer clothes section. I need to somehow become a size two to buy anything here but it was fun to look at those one of a kind beautiful clothes. They have Designer perfume, cosmetics and if you're lucky you'll find some amazing deals. Save about four hours because the store is full and it pays to look at everything. They are located in a warehouse district off of 17th South and Redwood road. It's not that great of a neighborhood but I surely had fun. I'll be back soon to find more great deals but it's a great place to while away an afternoon. read more

It's an okay spot for certain niche things. For example I sell trading cards and their prices on card protectors are better than Amazon. Most everything is priced at retail or higher. Me and my wife almost bought a grill. Ended up not getting it because we did not want to buy a dirty and dented grill. Went to Walmart later that day to find the same grill for $40 less brand new in box. NPS is cool and does have some hidden gems especially for tools and hardware but you have to do a little treasure hunting. read more

Wow, my wife was just treated so poorly. We had multiple items that they said were not on sale. One being a patio chair and table. The sign said patio and patio cushions 50%. The cashier said its not on sale read the sign. We asked about it and got shot down. We were upset but moved on. Then they scanned a door and it came up as a headboard. Clearly staff mislabeled the item. No big deal. We still wanted to buy item. the cashier said it was our fault for not reading the label and called management to see what could be done. When the manager arrived she mention to my wife that she could have swapped tags. to accuse my wife of this was ridiculous. Of course this turned into an argument. We paid for our items and left. The manager ran down the exit ramp and continued to call my wife rude and told us if we are rude in the future we can come back. This was Friday May 3rd. This was some of the worst customer service I've experienced. Borderline discrimination. To accuse my Hispanic wife of not being able to read and and price swapping was insane. I honestly was upset but moved on. Then Monday May 6th. I walked in to get some cleaning supplies for my business. Not even 3min in they surrounded me and kicked me out. I asked why and they called me rude. I told them they should investigate how i was treated as a customer and not just blindly back up cashiers. I don't understand why I am know longer allowed to shop at NPS Industrial. These employees are friends and are not holding how they treat people accountable. You have multiple discrimination reviews. and it seems like they are brushed off. Customer service should be one of the employees concerns but they are super rude. I visited this place on the suggestion of a coworker. It was wild and chaotic. So many people! So many items jammed together. In the back are designer products but at a glance, a few of the items looked like knock offs but not at knock off prices. Maybe it was chaotic because it was in the middle of the day on a Saturday, but if that's the norm, a person needs patience and time when shopping here. read more

I used to love going here. With COVID I haven't gone in the past year or so so when I was looking for a chair the other day, I decided to stop by. I don't know what happened between the last time I shopped here and the other day but the prices have skyrocketed! Over $100 for a simple chair?! Seriously? I can find cheaper stuff at Ross. Comparable if not cheaper at TJ Maxx. NPS is not what it used to be. They opened up a store in Layton across from the Krispy Creme on the same side of the street. I stopped by there as well the other week and their prices were high as well - I thought, maybe it's because it's a new store...then I came to the original NPS and same thing - high prices. You have to come with time to spend. It takes a while to find good items. Some items don't seem Discounted but I guess they are. The best part of NPS is the garden center. The manager there, I think her name is Vickie, gets amazing flowers, vegetables and low water plants. NPS isn't as good as it use to be but NPS is good for finding a few treasures or expired food or toiletries cheap. The consistently reliable area is the garden center in SLC. I like this place. It puts the one that we have in Orem to shame. Not as tidy feeling as the nps in Orem, but damn! I got great deals on some groceries. Sure, a lot of things are expired, but when you're just looking to kill time with a baby who just likes to look at things with you, it's worth digging through things for some of the deals. I got a 12-pack if oikos yogurt cups for $1.99 and they don't expire for 3 weeks-SCORE! Some Lean Cuisines for .60 each-YES! Some Epic brand jerky that sells for $3.99 at Whole Foods-I got for .98-HELL YEAH! If you aren't a bargain hunter and not willing to dig for the goods, don't come. The NPS store is..... An experience. My wife wanted me to come to the store so we took part of a weekend and went to check the place out. For those of you not familiar with NPS, it's a store that deals strictly in returns or damaged goods from other stores. So the breadth and width of what you can get is pretty deep. While we were walking around (it's much like a bunch of huge warehouses) we saw people walking around with boxes and boxes of bananas. In fact at one point I saw some one ask another person "What are you doing this weekend" When they responded that they were doing nothing the person said "You are making banana bread". We later found out they were selling bananas for a dollar per box. So - you can find killer deals at NPS - but then there are some not so killer deals. It's important to know what you are buying and not be caught up in getting stuff for cheap. If you want a interesting experience, or want to stock up on random things, NPS may be good for you. read more

They also have a section of non grocery items i.e. Clothing bedding, and household goods. This is not the cleanest store I have ever been. But the price is right and the employees are friendly. I'm so sorry if you hate this place, but I cannot be deterred from the NP motherfucking S store. I first used to come here as a high schooler, and once you spend any amount of time in here, you'll likely understand why. It's so cheap. It really just is. We used to call this the "ghetto costco", because that's just objectively what it is. And I say that lovingly because where else can I just indulge myself with a bunch of things I don't need, and NOT have to feel guilty about it? I'd say 80% of the non food section is straight garbage. And you may think to yourself "why even risk it then?" Because that 20% straight fire, at a discounted price? Unbeatable. Salt Lake City is so fun. You can be 10 miles in the opposite direction and be surrounded by suburban whites. At the NPS store, you will see one of the cultural hubs of the city, and I am not saying that facetiously, there are really all sorts of people here. If you come on a weekend, please prepare to be uncomfortable. If the thought alone makes you nervous, save this for a weekday. I love this place. It's definitely not what one could quantify as a yelp 5 star, but I couldn't care less. She is a beaming 5 star to me! read more

Anytime I need a home improvement item (I've bought ratchets, a ladder, garage chemicals, furniture and much more), I visit NPS! These guys have everything that wouldn't fit in one of the local big box home improvement stores. On the west side of the street (Empire Rd, just off 1700S), they offer a grocery store, apparel, health and beauty items and more. On the east side (my side), they have a huge warehouse full of items for the home, from tools to raw materials. I once found a 12" thick, 2' long, solid, steel cylinder - couldn't even move it but it was neat. So even if you don't need anything, it's worth walking through the store to see what they've got! Last note: when you go, make sure to snag one of the discount sheets from the basket, just inside the front door. They rotate various items through hugely generous sales, like 60-80% off [plumbing supplies], for example. read more

A junkman's paradise. Unbelievable potpourri of everything and anything handy man. From car bumpers and truck beds to workout equipment. Walk across the street to the other store and find - DESIGNER shoes. Via Spiga sandals at $69 were still high for this type of store. Weird stuff, old stuff. Jewelry. Art work. Furniture. As a quasi-fashiionista, I will say that much of what I saw was several seasons old (like the Free People tank), AND pricier than Nordstrom Rack. A dress I bought at the Rack FOUR YEARS AGO was on display on a mannequin - for $69. I think I paid $39. Buyer be wise. I'll shop elsewhere. read more

Had to pay for shipping to return and then they shorted me on the refund even though nothing changed, literally, in the box. So I had to pay to ship it back and they shorted me.
