I paid a visit to Sephora again as I am trying out the different options out there for stores I don't normally frequent. I was glad with my purchase at this particular Sephora. What I purchased was a body spray from the Phlur brand. This particular brand produces a wide variety of body mists. The particular variety that I tried was what is called the Mood Ring. And it's a very appropriate name for the wide ranges or dimensions if you will on the fragrance I had with this particular item. It had floral, fruity (perhaps) and a pleasant earthiness to it . To tell you the truth I didn't know what I thought about at first as I was getting accustomed to the fragrance. But in the end I liked it and the complexity that was involved with this body spray. I was in the store for 10mins without anyone asking to help me. I was looking so obviously lost, as I rarely wear makeup. I finally found someone I felt ok approaching & she helped me. But then on my own, I continued to just be lost. I tried walking towards soooo many employees, over 10, and they all turned and walked away from me! I had to continue to hunt down the one woman who helped, about 5 times to ask for more help, as she kept walking off instead of staying with me like all the other employees did and shop/recommend with me. I am a biracial woman. I saw NO black employees. We wear makeup too, just as much as any other woman! I purchased mascara, eye shadow, and perfume... spent over $100. I'm not sure if this was a race thing, or if the door lady was just a B, but today was not her day. Me and my friends walked up to the door to shop and the lady informed us that since we had three people, one more person had to leave the store before we could all enter--we agreed. She then proceeded to interrogate us. She starts by asking "what are you shopping for?" I was not prepared for questions, so I answered "we're looking for some face stuff". She then asks "like what kinds? Make up? Face wash?" And Im like "uh, skin care.. like The Original brand.." This woman then says "well, what exactly are you looking for, because we don't really have a lot of their product. So what do you want?" Why am I being asked all of these questions just to shop? I'm a paying customer who wanted to browse other products and she literally ruined my whole shopping day. I'll pass on going to that location anymore. It's okay. It's alright. The location is awesome as it right in the center of downtown Seattle. This Sephora is larger than the one in Bellevue. It also seems to have a lot of foot traffic. As a dude, I don't see much of a difference between Sephora and the men's fragrance and skin care section at department stores like Macy's. The lines seem longer shopping here than if I went the department store route. The selection is similar too, but I don't think you would get as much attention here. I just stopped in to redeem a fragrance gift card after buying one of Sephora's fragrance samplers. I like them because I can sample several fragrances before choosing a full size bottle. There was a bit of a wait in line and the service at the checkout was not very friendly. Go to Sephora for its selection, but service seems to be a crapshoot since this location is a bit hectic. read more

For a Sephora that's located at a busy downtown location I was fairly disappointed at how small this Sephora is. I've been to the Sephora at downtown San Francisco and man that location is gigantic! Nevertheless, you pretty much experience the same warm, welcoming, Sephora experience that's implemented in all their stores. This location offers free makeup classes that you can sign up for online/via app. Savannah, Alex and Rick are great facilitators/coaches! They have a lot of great tips to help applying makeup easier. read more

The staff here are not helpful, friendly, nor welcoming. I am not sure if it is because I'm Asian, because they are very friendly to people with lighter skin tones--even going as far as opening the doors for them. Bonus: there are people doing drugs at the side of their building all the time, because there is a wall that caves in, lol. There is only one person in there that has approached me twice, they know a lot of products from many different brands, and even goes beyond to tell me where I can find a product that their location does not carry. Unfortunately, that is not enough for me to go there again. I've always loved this store and I don't know what the best way to communicate with the store manager is, but I just had the BEST experience with the sales rep Manda. She had the best recommendations for all of the things I was looking for, and she was really personable and approachable. Always be observant when you are paying with a gift card at the cashier. The associate did not return my gift card and when I asked for it back, she claimed that the balance was $0. However, I recall seeing a "remaining balance" on the screen for a few seconds when my transaction was being processed. I asked for a balance receipt to be completely sure... and I was right. I had $21 remaining on the card, that could have been cheated from me if i was not paying attention. The balance on the card was really insignificant but what stands here is the principle. I didn't like that the associate so confidently claimed the balance was $0 without checking if she was uncertain. I would have rated this store a 1 star but what keeps me from doing that is the belief that the associate wasn't intentionally trying to be malicious. However, I do think management should better train their staff, especially ones who are dealing with money. I wonder how many unsuspecting customers loss their hard earned money or gifts at the cashier. Lesson of the day, be very careful and always pay attention or you will be cheated! read more

Before Covid, I came in here all the time. I was a make-up and perfume junkie. After Covid, well I'm more of a skincare junkie now because who wants to continually wash masks that are soiled with make-up. When I heard Sephora had re-opened I was excited to go check it out and it would give me something to do on my lunch break as I just returned to the office 3 days a week. So off I went one weekday on my lunch break. I walked in and everything pretty much looked the same with the obvious exceptions. Doors marked in and out, there's an associate at the door giving people the run down, everyone is in masks, everything you would expect. The woman at the door greeted me and told me the "rules." Please keep your distance. Wear your mask. Please don't use the testers, they are just there for looks. If you need any help, just ask. Okay, everything seemed straight forward, so off I went. An associate helped me pick out a face wash and a moisturizer and then I went looking around on my own for a bit. I looked at some more skin care and make up and then I ended up at the Fresh display and a bottle of their rose petal toner caught my eye. If you haven't seen it before, it has real rose petals floating in the toner. Do you know what I did? I picked that bottle up. I didn't open it, I didn't test it, I didn't empty it out on the floor, but I picked it up because I was interested in buying it. Keep in mind I was picking up bottles with the sales associate not that long ago while I was picking out my other items for purchase. Have you ever for a split second forgotten the circumstances of where you were or why things were the way that they were? That was me. And it's not like I opened it and used it. I. Just. Picked. It. Up. 2.6 seconds later a very young sales associate started wagging her finger in my almost 40 year old face and was so rude and condescending at my mistake as I first apologized but second also mentioned that no one told me that I couldn't pick the testers up, but only that I wasn't supposed to use them. Everything on deaf ears though as this GIRL just kept going. I don't want to get Covid just like anyone else, but a simple, "Ma'am, you're not supposed to pick them up" followed by a cutesy cringey face would have been adequate for me and would have saved her, and me some embarrassment. Sadly that experience has soured me, at least on that location. Maybe I'll check out the one on Westlake by Whole Foods. This location has been going downhill for a while now and every time I go I really haven't had a stellar experience. Maybe I'll just drop Sephora altogether and shop exclusively at Ulta. My suggestion for Sephora: Either take all your testers out and put them in the back until someone asks to see them or glue/velcro or somehow affix them to the display so no one can remove them...OH and teach your sales associates not to wag their fingers in the faces of those that are more than likely twice their age. I GOT PROFILED while trying to shop here. I walked in hoping to find something to purchase as a gift since I was in town for the weekend from the Bay Area. It all seemed like a normal shopping experience at first. The associates seemed nice enough and greeted me when I walked in. It went downhill from there. I'm not sure if it was because of the way I dressed (I was in casual athletic attire wearing a bumbag + a facemask - not that it should even matter TBH) or if it was because I was walking briskly through the store going from section to section searching for an item. But once I paused in one area to check out some skincare products, the front door security person approached me out of nowhere and asked if I needed any help. I told them what I was looking for and they seemed taken aback by my clear response. Almost as if they didn't expect me to know any English (I'm Chinese) or to catch me in the act of doing something suspicious . The security person asked me to wait while they went to look for an actual sales associate come by to help me instead. It took me a few seconds to realize that either they or one of the associates had probably thought I was trying to SHOPLIFT. The sales associate who came over to assist me was pleasant and she was helpful enough, but this whole experience of being stopped by security for just existing left a horrible taste in my mouth. Shoot, I've been coming here for years with minimal issues. Note this location is it is in the heart of tourist traffic. Let's be honest, don't be offended if you're not greeted. So many people walk through that door daily, they probably thought they already said it. As far as customer service goes or maybe it's just how I shop, but when I walk in there I know what I'm getting. Generally, most people don't like to be approached because they don't want to feel the pressure of having to buy something they really don't want. If you haven't been asked if you need assistance, all you need to do is ask. Trust me, they're more than happy to help you. Even if I know what I want, I may not know which product is better. The staff there is quite friendly, professional, and have great knowledge of the section they cover. ** There is usually one or two staff members supervising each area (perfume, foundations, skin care etc). If you're not helped, they're probably just busy helping another customer. This is one of the bigger Sephora locations and is well stocked with products. This is a long distance review. I called the store last week to try to arrange for a surprise makeover for my boyfriend's stepdaughter. She works right by this Sephora store and we live in California. It was a birthday gift and I wanted someone who fit her personality to do the makeover. Last week, I called and explained the situation. The sales person put me on a brief hold and then passed me on to the manager, Anna. Anna was fantastic. She helped me navigate exactly how to finesse this from out of state. They couldn't have been more accommodating. Well, she has emerged from her makeover a brilliant and even more glamorous version of herself, thanks to Anna and her makeup Artist extraordinaire, Savannah. The photos are stunning and she learned some great techniques. This location is great! Good customer service and they always have all your favorite make-up items in stock. The only thing I would complain is the lack of staff members to help you. Since this store is located in downtown and there's so much foot traffic in the area, this location needs more staff members to handle customer's requests. It is very common to wait up to 15 minutes before getting any type of assistance. Other than that, this store is doing a great job. I went to purchase Fenty Beauty items and I highly recommend it! Let me start off by saying I'm not a make up girl. But every now and then I pop in to Sephora to see what they have and to find something. I have a girlfriend who looks amazing in all of her pictures. I finally asked her what she uses, she sent me instructions for how to use Aztec Indian clay as a mask by mixing it with apple cider vinegar and honey. Did the mask love it! I love the fact it was natural. Next I asked her about foundations and how does she look so flawless at 50+ in her photos. She suggested Surrat beauty, and said I could find it at Sephora that's when I started the search. I went to the Pearl Ridge mall Sephora and unfortunately they did not have Surrat beauty. But the staff was super nice and helped me look for other options. Next I went to the Alamo mall Sephora the girl I got was awesome. She pulled other lines matched colors and entered me into the system so that everything was sent to me. But still no Surrat beauty. While in Seattle I stopped into the Pike St Sephora and for the first time had a crappy Sephora experience. I had to approach someone myself and when I ask her about Surrat beauty she told me that they did not hold it in the store and that I should call other stores in the Seattle area to ask if she could call for me and she said yes and walk to the front desk and made the phone calls but never asked me specifically what I was looking for in the line. She came back told me that they hold the line in Bellevue and I can go out there and see if they have what I needed. It was obvious she was not interested in helping me. I think I'm down with Sephora I get great service at the Norstrom's counters. read more

This store is a hot mess. 20% of tester products are spent/unusable and a shocking amount of products are out of stock. I miss the Hollywood/Highland Sephora so much right now...you have no idea what you've got until it's gone (or you move away from it), right? Right. This store has zero twist-up "pencil" brow products in stock in their lightest shade. I really mean ZERO. What the whaaat?? I wish I could give them zero stars. Sephora.com says the Diorshow Brow Styler in light brown is in stock at this location; it's not. There isn't a single one behind the tester, in the drawer or in "the back"; I asked. Also labeled as "in stock" at this location: the Tart equivalent of the Dior brow product, the Benefit equivalent, the ABH equivalent...the Marc Jacobs equivalent...and none are actually in stock. They don't even have the Givenchy brow pencils that I have been consistently able to find in-store for the last decade. Never coming back to this place. read more

The staff are catty and rude. An employee said my eye maker was terrible as she walked by. Not even addressing me. Just a drive by insult. She could have offered me a tip. Which i dont think i needed. It was a simple cat eyeliner... Thats it. I was applying it but i have a monolid and its easier to stretch my eye out to draw it.. As she walked y and insulted me.
