This Sephora is pretty depressing. Everything from the customer service to lack of product has got me wondering why they are even still in business. I was looking for a few products I needed to restock on but they were either out or just didn't carry it at this location. I could see that maybe its because it's a small section tucked inside JC Penny's and not an actual Sephora store? Its already an inconvenience having to dig around for what I need so, when I had to flag someone down to help me you can already imagine how annoyed I was. The girl who helped me was very unhelpful! I was standing there wondering how it was even possible for her to work there when she couldn't even blend her contour. Hit and miss with products and above all service. Definitely don't recommend this location. For the price you pay for these products you would think service would be better. Sadly it is just high prices and crap customer service at this location. Make the trip to an actual Sephora stand alone store or just order online for what you need. I buy both drugstore and high end makeup and I get better service time and time again at just about any Walgreens. Stay away if you can. read more

If I could give a lower rating for the horrendous customer service, I definitely would. This place doesn't even deserve a single star. I walked in and had every intention of buying the kat von d's tattoo liner and liquid lipstick. But I decided to browse some more and picked up a few more items I didn't need. There were a ton of girls walking up to me and asking if I needed help. I'd politely tell them I was just looking. But I felt like they were only asking to make sure I wasn't trying to steal anything... By the time I got to line up to pay, it was as if all the employees decided to take their break at once. I was up next in line and in hindsight, probably my fault for assuming I was going to be helped by one of the two available cashiers. She didn't make a single eye contact with me, didn't excuse herself to help her other customer who wanted to return something. Seriously, all you had to do was explained that she was going to help the other customer and it's best for me to get back in line. Nope, nothing! Does Sephora employees like making the customers look stupid? I really wanted to drop all my stuff and walked out but decided to justify it as my fault. I waited for the OTHER cashier to finish and asked if she could help me next since I was technically next in line and her coworker is ignoring me. Her response? "Let me help the other customers in line first." What the actual fuck? Am I not a customer in line? Was I not considered next??? Each and everyone of Stockton's Sephora poorly trained customer service rep can take their five layers of caked on makeup faces straight to a customer service training. Learn to excuse yourself if you can't help a customer. It literally takes a few seconds. Stop being so oblivious to your surrounding. If you were trained to watch out for shoplifters, then be on the lookout for customers who were in line first and treat them with the same kind of respect they deserve regardless of how much money they're intending to spend at a specific visit. I'll be more than happy to spend the extra gas and mileage to shop at a different Sephora than to ever step foot near this rotten ass location filled with stuck up, pretentious service rep. Came in to do a simple exchange with a receipt for an item that was too string and bothered my allergies she refused to do my exchange said it was impossible because thru do y have the same operating system so i left called customer service who advices me to go back because she absolutely could help me then i called store back was hung up on. Then when i returned she said fine I'll take care of you but I'm giving you the lowest value on a gift card when i paid full price with debit ! Had a great experience going to get my brows done by Nathalie. It was a pleasure meeting you. The other ladies were very helpful with helping me find a light foundation for my problem skin condition. Nathalie has beautiful skin and shared with me her cleansing routine. I went there just for my brows and left there buying cleanser, brows, and Urban Decay makeup. I have my next brow appt with Nathalie in 4+ weeks and I'm looking forward to getting them done again. read more

Customer service can make or break a shopping experience, which is why I try to include it in my reviews. That said, the girls here are very warm and helpful. They aren't the reason for giving this location only three stars. It has to do with the lack of selection, and how common it is for them to run out of product. The store seems to often be bone dry. In truth, I'm not a fan of most of the cosmetics they sell, but I had a gift card I needed to use, and it took me well over an hour to find anything I liked, and they weren't out of. Shanee was so sweet and helpful! I love Sephora so much and she just made me want to come back even more. First of all, she was very attentive with all clients and all the girls were constantly walking around making sure everyone was being helped. Once I got to the register and asked about prices, Shanee was very quick and didn't even have to look them up. I have worked in customer service for 13 years and I am so happy when I walk into a place that has workers that know how to make the client feel welcomed. This location has definitely improved not only in the amount of brands they carry but in their customer service. Im Rogue and have been for two or three years. Honestly if this is the first Sephora I'd ever walked into I'd be a dedicated Ulta shopper. I didn't require a lot of assistance as I knew basically what I wanted but I had a question about concealer. I think she was the shop manager...she didn't even really listen and started talking to me about brushes and primer when I was actually asking for concealer recommendations. It all felt really condescending. I bought my stuff and popped over to MAC. Do yourself a favor and drive a little further to a Sephora with better cast. So I call Sephora to book an appointment for my 9 year anniversary, they had an event going on before noon & double check if she could squeeze me in, she call back and told me they can book an appointment with me. Which was really helpful & nice of them even if they had an event! Call Mac the same day but they didn't even want to help. It's the thought that counts!! Now I rather go to Sephora then Mac! They never disappoint me, my husband always spent a lot of $$$ there for my gifts! I will never ever shop Sephora again. First off.. No. I will be the first to admit I don't look like a model. So what. I'm not supposed to. But I go in to find a pallette I have been wanting for a long time. To be honest.. Money no object. Was prepared to spend as much money as I wanted had no budget. But no one even as much greeted me.. Looked at me or even asked me if I needed help. Ok fine. I proceed to shop and look on my own. I browse and find the pallette. Awesome. Now I wanted to find a certain brush but could not locate it. Also wanted a few other things but no one wanted to help me. No they weren't busy they just ignored me. That's cool. After a few minutes.. I gave up. I took my one item to the register. Where the lady proceeded to ignore me. 5 mine later she acknowledged me and helped me. I walked out pretty damn pissed. You shouldn't judge a book by its cover. Don't assume you know how much someone is going to spend. You are judgemental rude people. Not that you need my stupid business anyways but I will never return. At least when I go to ulta.. One star for being the only Sephora in Stockton. The customer service here is pretty shitty. I don't know why they even hire these useless women. Every time I come here they would be putting on their makeup and not pay attention to the customers. I walked in there to get some Kat Von D products but was never acknowledged by any staff and that really pissed me off. It was sad because I was in the mood for buying new makeup that day. I went here recently and the girl who helped color match me was fantastic but then I got to the register and girl who helped me was rude. When I went to show her my VIB card I noticed I forgot it so she said she could look it up using my email. So idk if she did something wrong or whatever but I spent nearly $300 that trip and I didn't get a single reward point for that transaction. So I recently came here to purchase a decent face powder. I was hoping to be asked if I needed any help. Unfortunately, no one approached me at all. Seeing that I was looking around waiting for somone to at least greet me and clueless for what I was looking for, no one was kind enough to come up to me. None of those girls were busy or occupied. I had to help myself. I had to look for a face powder that matched my skin and it took me a while. I felt so akward and stupid. I think if one of the workers would of helped me it would of been faster. They were looking right at me and did not even bother. Seemed like all the girls there were careless about their customers or just lazy. Staff is somewhat knowledgeable on the products but most can't color match to save their lives. They are friendly though and for that I'll be a loyal customer, especially over ULTA. I get helped almost right away here when in ulta I have to search for an employee and practically beg to help. Keep up the good work sephora. read more

I love this place! It is definitely not the biggest Sephora I have been to but every time I go there the employees are so friendly and helpful. One girl that works there which happens to be there every time I visit the store is extremely nice. She is super easy to talk to and has helped me on several occasions find a product that work best for me. I wish I could remember her name I just know she wears glasses and is tall. :) But of course there is always at least one person that is not full of sunshine and I have run into her a couple times and have been greeted with "that look" or not acknowledge at all. For the most part the employees are friendly and knowledgeable. The store its self is always clean and there are always great sales on a variety of items so it is a nice way to try out new things. I wish it was a tad bit bigger but it is inside of JCP so I can understand the space issue. Other than that I think it is a great addition to Stockton and just another stop I have added when I am out shopping. read more

Thursday July 30, 2015 at 3:08pm. Early that day, my daughter and I went to Sephora to buy foundation. We tested/tried a few and found one. I purchased it and used my 10% discount card. When we left the store we both realize the color did not match. So..later that afternoon my daughter and I went back to Sephora to exchange/find a better shade. We went to the "Beauty Studio" their were 5 employees standing there and NOT one asked if we needed help. There was one employee that stood out..not in a good way. She was not approachable, she didn't offer her assistance, and was VERY rude!! She looked at me and my daughter from head to toe and rolled her eyes at us. I ignored her and went on with my business. When we found a foundation shade..we just wanted to leave the store ASAP, because we felt we were not wanted. When I went to the register..the sales lady who was rude was there. I asked her polity if she was able to give me 10% off (because I was at the store earlier that day). She said, "NO..because it was a one time use". I said, if I call Coorporate would they same the thing?? And she replied "YES". I asked her for the Coorporate number and her name and of course she did not give it to me. I was pissed and frustrated. In a calmly voice..I leaned over and told her to "Smile a little bit more". When the transaction was done..she mumbled and called me a "B" (she didn't know I heard her). Instead of giving me the info..she called her manager. I spoke to the manager and explained/told her what happened. Per manager: "why didn't she call me?" "I would have allowed the 10% discount." She was not happy with the situation and said, "that was unacceptable". Solution: the manger apologized and gave me the 10% discount. Coorporate is aware of the issue. read more

I've never had an issue with the workers! They're doing their jobs. You cannot expect someone on registers to jump off and help when there are other associates scheduled in their assigned areas for the hour. If ur gift card was denied, I'm sure u used one that was exclusively for Sephora alone, NOT Sephora inside jcp. If u keep getting greeted, than GREAT! They're doing their job. If u don't have makeup on, great! That's even better for the associates to help you. You choose to make judgments towards the workers when in reality, they just wanna help you and move on to the next customer who needs help. I guarantee they don't give a rats ass about the way u look or how bummy u are. Tip for u ladies, If u wanna return something, I'd call the store directly to see what their policies are instead of coming in one year later because something didn't work out & than getting mad at the workers just as it should be done for every store. I had bought a Huda foundation a few months back and it has a fragrance in it that really irritated my skin. I took it back to the STOCKTON JCPenny hoping to exchange it for my Laura Mercier tint I use daily and the girls there told me that because I bought it over 2 months ago I couldn't return or exchange it even though I only used it once and hadn't gotten the chance to come in and exchange it for another product I actually can use. I called Sephora online (even through the girl told me they wouldn't be able to help me either) and they told me that they are able to override the return in stores whether they are manager or not and that they are able to make the exchange for me. I walked back into the Sephora counter with the online supervisor on the phone and the artists still refused to do the return for me because there was no manager on duty even though the supervisor on the phone said it was okay and to override it. I also work in retail cosmetics and for 1. A manager is always on duty. It's mandatory. Whether it's JCP management or Sephora management. Or if she is out sick they could call another Sephora location and get the okay from a different manager. And for 2. If I ever refused to make an EXCHANGE for a customer who repeatedly shops at my store my supervisor would have it out with me because we would then lose a customer who is loyal to our brand. And 3. To find out that they are more than able to make returns via override wether you are a manager or not they just refused to do so because they makes me so mad I will NEVER return to this Sephora location. I also work in cosmetics and I know how frustrating it is when people consistently return items and demand their money back. This however, wasn't the case. I just wanted to exchange it for something I could actually use considering they found my beauty insider profile and saw that I made the purchase and that I make plenty of purchases at Sephora stores even though I work for another cosmetics company. Let me just say that being a manager for another cosmetics company in the past and having this happen to me on the other side of the counter was so disappointing. I would never ever refuse a customer a simple exchange especially when they shop at my store or with the brand frequently and I can see that plain as day on their beauty insider account. That then becomes a customer service issue where a customer leaves unsatisfied which isn't what I would want in my store. Anyhow, long story short I came to the Antioch location and the girls there were SO sweet and SO kind and Bella was able to return my huda foundation for store credit. I will NEVER shop at the Stockton location EVER again. But I will however continue to make the longer drive to Antioch/Brentwood to shop at that location. Totally a pretty woman moment where they refused to help her in their store because they were too busy gossiping among themselves behind the counter. read more

I went here the day after Christmas, I know...a busy day. There was a line about 7 deep. I waited since I needed my Kat Von D foundation and didn't want to deal with traffic from Manteca. The girls asked everyone as they came to the register if they had the insider card, some didn't so that added time to the line. I know, it's their job but keep that line flowing. I wasn't offered any samples and I asked if I could pick up my Birthday gift since my Birthday was in just 3 weeks. The girl said to come back she couldn't give me anything. That was annoying I just spent $40 on foundation and you can't offer a sample or give me my Birthday gift? Plus, this Stockton location is weird. The mall across the street isn't connected. Some days are okay, and others are just terrible. All the testers are just so nasty looking, it's hardly clean in there and customer service can be a bit of a pain. I wish that it'd be more organized and sanitary and have testers for every color. read more

I went to Sephora today to have my eyebrows waxed at the (Benefit Browbar) and had the best time. Brenda not only did a fabulous job on my eyebrows but was by far the most friendly and sweetest person. I left with a huge smile on my face and will be returning in the near future. She is definitely an asset to that store. read more

Sometimes literally everything is out of stock and the customer service is shit, other times the products are abundant and the workers are super nice. there's a 50/50 chance of which one you'll be getting when you visit, just hope for the best read more

So here's the deal I am the most indecisive person everrr.. walking in I was approached by Cristen and she asked if I needed assistance, she helped color match me with 3 different foundations because I just can't find the right one for my skin condition (adult acne). anyways I spent over 3 hours here and still couldn't figure out what I wanted. but she continued to check on me and give me more info on each product. she is awesome!! and yesss they are ALWAYS busy, it's customer service people be a little more understanding. if you want personal attention go on a week day they aren't as busy and can spend a little more time with you!! read more
