I love Sephora. There are always employee's willing to help you find a make up product and show you how to apply it. They have men products also. Which I think is so cool. Surprisingly you can get your man Cologne or a shaving product. The selection is small, men don't require much. For us ladies there's lipsticks, eyeshadows, blushes, moisturizer, multiple applicators, nail polishes, and surprisingly trial sizes of most of those things. You'll usually see trial sizes in the check out line. i always walk out with somehting from those liitle trays of mini-sizes of something. read more

FOR SKINCARE, SEE ROSA! I've worked at many medical and cosmetic spas and Rosa was an amazing associate, I was so impressed! She could tell exactly what I needed and was very knowledgable and actually I asked her what she reccomended then I was going to tell her what I was thinking about. Actually, she picked all the products that I have researched and heard about and were my choices if there wasn't a better option! She also helped me find a great moisturizing gel that i needed and couldn't figure out which one to get. Her choice was spot on and amazing! I used to avoid this Sephora because the staff in the past had been less than friendly, but they seem to have hired a new team (I only recognize a few faces which I'm assuming are managers) and the service has improved quite a bit. I went to go get a full makeover for my senior prom last weekend and oh my goodness Tiffany (girl from New York) was amazing! She took her time and I'm glad she did, I received so many comments about how great my makeup was! Her background in makeup is Estée Lauder, so you know my skin looked so smooth! I came in with my boyfriend only to buy a new eyebrow pomade as well as get some samples of some men's perfumes so I can know what to get my boyfriend for his birthday in a few weeks. Was informed they no longer give samples, not a problem! So I decided to smell some with bottle testers. Which I guess isn't allowed? Was asked multiple times by the same lady if I needed help. I responded each time with no. Then she proceeded to stand next to us while we were smelling perfumes. Made me extremely uncomfortable just by the way she was looking at us as if it's not allowed or something? We left. This is not my first time experiencing such an uncomfortable shopping experience with them. It seems every time I come in here, I'm followed by a worker? I understand that they may have some shoplifting problems which is the only reasonable explanation I can find but is it better to make the customers shopping experience uncomfortable instead of taking other types of precautions? read more

I have recently started using Sephora. Started trying different make ups. First time experience was ok per say but did the digital color match and the colors I got for my make up were too dark when I actually did my make up... then I go back and like a previous review posted about being watched yes I'm covered in tattoos as well and had eyes on me every move. And the girl that helped me cared more about fixing her own make up than me spending 400$ on stuff there. Was not happy with my foundation selection once again. I would have not put a star at all. Anytime I go to this Sephora I feel like a majority of the employees are being judge-mental. The cashier in front today didn't smile and she looked at me like I was insignificant. The other one looked like she didn't want me to go to her. This isn't the kind of girls you should have being your cashiers at all. I don't wear heavy make up and I felt judged because of it. No customer should feel that way. Sephora stop hiring mean girls who think it's okay to be rude. If the products I get at Sephora we're at Ulta I would go to Ulta instead. The girls at Ulta aren't ever judge mental and don't make me feel like I should look like them. I hope I can speak to a manager about this issue because there are probably girls who have felt that way too. My sister felt that way too. If I can speak to someone it would be great. read more

Am I crazy for hating this location?? I typically don't write about chain stores unless I have a really bad or really good experience, and today I encountered terrible customer service. I came wanting to try a specific contouring powder. I wasn't greeted the entire first 15 minutes I was at the store waiting around for someone to help me. Granted, the 3 associates on the floor were busy with other customers, but I clearly needed help and wasn't acknowledged. I went up to the cash register to ask one of the ladies there if anyone else was available and she said I'd just have to wait. I left and came back because I had already been there a long time. When I returned, again, no one acknowledged me so I went up to a young sales associate to help me try on the contouring powder. There are signs ALL over the store now, btw, encouraging customers to get a contouring makeover. They only had the sample palette left, and upon seeing that they were sold out of the ones to buy, the girl seemed short with me and said they ran out. I had to ask her if I could at least try it. She swooped some powder on one cheek and didn't have much to say afterward. It was like one of those "..." moments. She didn't have any comments, didn't offer any alternatives, or even offer to do my other cheek so I wouldn't walk out the store looking like Two Face. Maybe it's just this one sales associate (I'm talking to you, girl with black hair in long braid) who is unfriendly and maybe it was because she knew she wouldn't be making commission off of me that day. Overall, it just seemed like no one was interested in helping me. I would have at least appreciated something like, "Sorry we're tied up, but we'll be with you as soon as possible." Or, "Let's try this powder on anyway to see if you like it or I can show you something comparable." And not that I'm fishing for compliments, but "Oh, this powder does look nice on you. Please do come back when we get more." I don't like having to be proactive to get some basic customer service. I'd only come back to pick up something I already know I need, but good luck if you need help trying something on. read more

Horrible customer service. I went in wanting to buy several items but after receiving NO assistance whatsoever I left and went to ulta instead. Even managers kept walking past me and not one person asked if I needed help. The workers who were not helping anyone where of course talking to each other and chatting about "Did you try the Fenty body lava? No, oh girl come here look". Again this is employees talking to each other. Do this on your OFF time or when you have no customers. Unprofessional and until there is better customer service I won't purchase anything from this location. If there's one thing I hate, it's when I walk into a store and am not greeted. ESPECIALLY when it's a Thursday afternoon and there's no one in the store. I walked in and saw 4 employees. 2 men were right at the front and watched me walk in. I had a curious look on my face, too, because I didn't know where to find what I was looking for. Neither of them stopped their gossip to say hello or may I help you. I continued to purposefully walk in front or around them looking for things and still nothing. Fiiiinally I popped around a corner and Erica greeted me and helped me find some of what I was looking for. It's such a bummer, man! Like, how hard is it to stop what you're talking about and say hello? It makes all the difference in the world. No warm fuzzies for me. And, while it's a beautiful store, I'd be hesitant to return simply based on my first impression of the place. It's too bad, too. This Sephora is one of the worst Sephora's I ever gave business to. The workers are extremely rude. One of the men started yelling at me in the store and proceeded to legitimately throw the eyeshadow pallet to me because I was making a return. He stated that Sephora no longer did returns, even though I had my receipt in my hands. I told the worker I did not appreciate the attitude and he proceeded to say "I don't care what you like and don't like boo boo" in front of the entire store. I have worked in retail before, and I know that this kind of customer service is unprofessional and frowned upon. The manager seemed to not even care about what their worker had said or the way he had acted. I will never be giving my business here again. If like me, you revel in all things cosmetic, then this is the place for you! I have shopped this chain even before they arrived in H-town. I was initiated in NYC, and was glad when they opened in the Galleria. I really celebrated when they put down roots in suburbia! This chain offers a great diversity of mid-scale to upscale cosmetics along with a helpful, knowledgeable staff. Wendy and Kenya are two of the many great makeup/staff members always ready with a smile and offers of aid! Their own huge line of cosmetics are wonderful in selection and cost. I love that they will do samples of anything in the store, unlike Ulta. I have saved many a dollar by trying before buying. I also like their more reasonable return policy than Ulta. I don't always have my receipt, and they will still take something back with a store credit or exchange. I was especially appreciative that when Sephora decided to stop stocking Temptu product due to quality issues, Sephora took back my machine and accessories for a full refund since no one else in town carried the line and customers did not want to deal with Temptu directly via internet! They earned my biz for that as I am sure few other chains would have gone that extra mile for their customers. Great product, service and selection makes this a winning chain. I only withhold one star for this local as they too often are out of something, and can take weeks to get it back in stock while other locals, like Galleria, will have it. I'm not sure if this is a corporate or local issue. They will, however, offer to give you a free shipping code so you can order online if they are out of stock and you don't feel like the trek into town. Best of all, their free VIB (very important beauty insider) card earns one point per dollar spent. Redemption of points for great sample merchandise, special freebie insider parties with DJ's, nibbles, and special pricing, as well as some online shopping specials and store coupons, make this program the best in the beauty biz! read more

I am a frequent shopper of Sephora stores in Houston, however I had a terrible experience on a Saturday evening at the First Colony location. The staff was so rude from the gentleman who answered the phone when I called in to the women at the make-up counter. I called to inquire about an eye express make-up application; I was told to come on in, it would take about 15 minutes. I have had an eye express make-up application before and have loved the convenience of it. When I came in on this day, two women at the make-up counter argued with me that it was against their policy to do eye-make up for a customer. They said they could do one half of my face, and I would have to do the other. When did this become a make-up lesson? When I tried to explain that I had called in and spoken to someone, AND had it done before, they continued to argue loudly in front of other customers. I have called in to try and get names of the staff members or to speak with a manager, but have only gotten smart answers- "We have about 10 ppl at the make-up counter, who are you talking abt?" "There is nobody here by that name." "We don't know when the manager is working next." etc. etc. Two calls to the Sephora corporate office have gone unanswered by a manager of this store. As a frequent Sephora shopper for almost 10 years, I am extremely disappointed and will now be taking my business elsewhere. read more

I go there once every 4 months or so because they have some products at a decent price that I have a difficult time finding anywhere else (e.g. Bumble & Bumble hair powder). I wait though, so I only have to go a few times a year. Why? I *can't stand* interacting with the staff. Just *hate* it. They say all the right things, but it is their body language and inflection. Every time I go, it is pretty much the same--this odd, subtle uppityness that I am having a *really* hard time figuring out how, as a sales clerk, each and every one of them has managed to craft and feel entitled to maintain. But without fail. Without fail. Uggh to the nth degree. Who is leading this team? Who is generating this? Really, it is *only* the Sugarland location. When I have gone to Memorial and one in Toledo, Ohio, I don't get a *blip* of this. 2 stars are for the products I am loyal to and the selection. This store is very unhelpful I agree. My boyfriend bought me a perfume from a different sephora and when he purchased it he asked if it was eligible for a return in case I didn't like it. They said yes and so when he gave it to me I ended up not liking it so I went with the receipt and the item and they told me I could not return it because a discount was applied but there was no discount on the receipt and he was not told about it either. So I was told I could not return it at all. It made me upset and I called the customer service number and they told me that should not have happened because customers can return an item even if a coupon is applied. So that tells me that the girls who helped me did not know what they were talking about. She didn't want to give me my return. I get why this Sephora is low rated because they have they are rude and have an attitude. I ended up going to the Sephora my bf bought the perfume and they gladly gave it to me. The girls at Sephora are amazing! Very sweet young ladies. I am a girl who loves eyeshadow palettes and many of the workers at Sephora are very knowledgeable about the pigments and combinations that can be created with the colors. I have been introduced to so many new makeup collections thanks to Sephora. I recently went there yesterday with my sister to purchase some Dior makeup, and a young man helped us. I walked into this Sephora ready to go shopping for myself and right when I walked in a super sweet lady greeted me and asked if I needed help. I didn't know what I was looking for first so I kindly declined. I remembered that I needed to get a new card because there was mix up so when I found another employee I inquired and she rudely snapped at me and told me that I didn't need a card. I kindly told her that I would like one and she told me again that there wasn't a need for it and that I didn't need it. I just smiled and walked away because I was getting annoyed. I understand that there isn't a need for one but I wanted it so I could give it to my mom to make it more convenient for her since we use the same points. So I walked over to the perfumes and I the lady followed me all over. I just kindly smiled and kept smelling perfumes. I finally finished the whole wall and realized that I didn't see the one I wanted so I asked the employee that was following me if she could point me in the direction of the Michael Kors perfume and she told me that they didn't sell Michael Kors at all and looked at me stupid. I chucked and said that was funny because I saw on your website that you recently started she rolled her eyes and said oh. I wasn't putting up with rude attitude so I decided to leave without buying anything. You would think that they would hire happier employees. A lot has changed in terms of customer service at this Sephora. I believe they hired some new staff members that actually cares about their customer regardless of how they look. I remember I would use to get ignored when I walked into the store possibly because I look very young. The reason why I took off one star was because I still believe improvements can be made. One of my big pet peeve is the "what we have out on display is all we have", I call that " the default I don't care cause I'm too lazy to check "answer. Personally, that shows a sign of laziness..at least "pretend" or offer to check the back storage for backup stock. Every time I ask a sales associate to check for product availability they usually lean toward that "default" answer. Rarely do I get an associate that says, "Would you like me to check the back storage for you?" or even offer to help you place an order online for the item to be shipped out to you or to the store. This is where I believe their customer service can be improved. read more
