I called before I came and make an appointment with the only artist they had for 12:15. It was one of the best experiences I have had in a long time. She was pleasant, made suggestions, and my makeup looked so good y'all! I asked for a natural look so it really did not look like I had on makeup but a real polished look. Out of stock on many items and the staff doesn't even care (or actually know what they have and what they don't). I stopped in search for a specific item, had to "disturb" staff when I couldn't find it myself, she was very displeased that I have disturbed her chat with her colleague . So I stopped past this Sephora and had the worst customer service by one employee. My husband purchased me a bottle of Killian's "Don't be Shy" for our anniversary because he loved the smell so much. *Note I was so grateful but was bummed because he didn't sign up so he could have gotten the POINTS ‍* I ended up giving the bottle to his sick and elderly aunt because she said she LOVED the fragrance and wish she had a bottle (I THOUGHT I was being sweet and doing a good thing. I didn't think it was as much as it was.). At the time, I had NO idea of how much the fragrance was (I just loved it) and I didn't know that a smaller bottle could be purchased for $50. ANYWAY, I'm in THIS Sephora and I ask specifically for the Killian (Don't be Shy) and it was another one because I came it to replace the SAME bottle he had purchased! I was rushing because we were on our way to an appointment close to this location BUT I was going to circle back after we were done. So, I ask the first rep and she went in and got a sample; she had 2-3 samples of the Killian so I spayed myself with it. Before I could get out of my mouth that I was coming back to purchase the regular bottle, the rep says RUDELY; "You know if you wanted to spray THAT much you can just buy a bottle!" . So I then say to her "Well ACTUALLY I do want to purchase a bottle. Do you have this? How about they don't even SELL the bigger bottle and ONLY sell the small travel size (of which I already purchased because the last Sephora I went to DID sell the regular bottle but they were out of stock but did have the travel size. I was just turned off by how she tried to imply that I was just freeloading off of the fragrance. Even if I WAS, you all DO have SAMPLES right? The rep did appear to be younger so I just attributed her rude and demeaning attitude to that. EVEN THOUGH I had an ENTIRE Savage Fenty jumpsuit on. I basically love everything Rihanna and had no idea that this was her favorite fragrance and now mine lol. Either way not only did she miss the sale because I would have probably purchased the travel size bottle ANYWAY but I was so turned off by her that I didn't even want to go back. I guess I'll go back to Pentagon City or the one Downtown where the customer service is ALWAYS top tier at least to me. read more

I like this Sephora. It's actually a Sephora Studio so it's limited in what they carry and it's an overall smaller store. However, the times that I've gone in, the service has been good. The last time I was there, I purchased their facial wipes and totally forgot to take them. The cashier ran out the store and was calling for me. Thank goodness, I wouldn't have realized until I got home. I'm glad that there's a Sephora closer to me even if it's not so big. read more

Fair warning: This Sephora location is limited with what they carry. The space itself is much smaller than any other locations I've been to, so it makes sense that they would have to curate what hits the shelves here differently. The good news is that the staff here are so nice and they do carry a ton of your favorite brands. I'm also just personally excited to have a location to close and right across the street from so many places I frequent. I dropped by this weekend to pick up a few refills of some of my beauty staple items. Most of the make up lines I like were available here, but it was a bit of a bummer when I realized they didn't carry Clinique products (which I typically use as part of my skin care.) I am thrilled that this Sephora is at its Eastern Market location, but I do wish it were bigger. The selection of products is limited due to the size of the store. As others may have mentioned, they won't necessarily have what you're looking for--although they do stock a good amount, and as much as they can, I'm sure! With that being said, the service has always been friendly, helpful, and the mini makeover I got at this location was fun and useful. First time visiting capital hill Sephora! What a delight to have one right in my backyard. I'm able to get all my beauty products making me happy I'm in the neighborhood. I walked in and was greeted nicely by the team. The team was super knowledgeable and offered suggestions on products! I came in looking for one thing and ended up getting more. Lol This location is smaller then the other Sephora's in the area. They do not carry a large variety of fragrances and no full size options so I opted for the travel sizes. This location does offer one on one consultations... I find it help to learn about other products they may suggest. What I loved most is hey carry the full Fenty collection! Worst Sephora. I understand it is a Sephora Studio, however I counted 7 customer service assistance and No one asked me if I needed help. I literally walked in a circle 4 times and no one assisted. The employees were more focused on taking a group selfie rather than helping. I want to love this location as I love going to Eastern Market on Sunday's. However, the SAs make that near impossible for me. There can be 10 associates standing around, but not a single one will ask if you need help. And if you reach out to one for help, it's like you're bothering them. Well in all fairness, at my last visit, the manager did see me struggling holding multiple products and asked if I was looking for something... While it is smaller than that location, it has everything I need and the customer service is excellent. Everyone is friendly and actively offers assistance, without pushing or hovering. One word, Susan! Susan is the manager at the capital hill Sephora location studio and it's one of the best managers I've seen any retail location! She truly treats each customer with respect, time and valuable attention to detail not mention goes out of her way to make anyone's experience memorable. She's a natural problem solver and also she appears to always treat her team with respect and empowers them! As for The store it's self it is well laid out although a small store compared to other safaris has a great supply and if there's anything you can't find there the staff are more than willing to help you locate it online in order in store or for delivery. For instance they have small petite perfume selection but they were also order larger perfumes for you. I've learned a lot at Sephora over the years and with my wife being a VIP status i've learned a lot at Sephora over the years and with my wife being a VIB status. Definitely recommend sign up for the rewards programs and their birthday gifts as well as all the other promotional opportunities they offer including member sales. So much easier to deal with this in-store customer service compared to calling the corporate customer service number or even other Sephora stores for my experience. read more

Great location...so happy I no longer have to trek downtown for my fav cosmetics. It is a smaller store that leans heavily towards make -up, face care, and some hair care. They don't have all the brands, but they have most (Make Up Forever, Fenty, Bobby Brown, Too-Faced, Urban Decay, Kat Vod D, MILK, Huda, Laura Mercier, Anastacia, Smashbox, Marc Jacobs, Dior)...that's not an exhaustive list, but I did not see Clinique and Lancome. The service is great (shout out to Aqua who asked the right questions and gave me an awesome foundation match). For those among us who are deep and deeper toned, yes, this location does seem to fully stock the darker shades. read more

I've visited this Sephora often and had generally good experiences. I've had a couple of salespeople help me look for a color or recommend products. Today I had a bad experience that prompted me to write. I went in to make a return and was ignored by the salesperson until minutes later when she felt like looking up to say "what's the return." She then proceeded to look over the two products I returned and while huffing, puffing and shaking her head. UNNECESSARY. When she finally finished the return the only "thank you" shared was from me. She plainly said "you're done". As I turned to leave I heard her warmly greet and welcome another customer, with purchases, to the register. I've been coming here at least once a week since I started working nearby 6 weeks ago. I didn't mind that they don't have a full range of products. Im only leaving a review because of a rude employee I encountered. Wish I got her name. I led the conversation by asking whether or not I could exchange a product I purchased from Sephora in Jc Penny which she completely ignored to go on about how the foundation I purchased was far too light for my skin, "who is that for, that's way too light for you" in a rude manner (it was actually nearly perfect to my skin tone ). So after listening to her go on about that she finally asks a supervisor and can't even do the exchange, which is no problem if that's the policy, however I could've had that answered in the beginning before I took everything out. read more

The staff were friendly and 2 reps ensured I got the most of my experience. The store is small, selection was wide with top popular and beloved makeup brands (especially in shades for POC) and stocked up overall. I can't speak on skin care products. The place is small so if you're looking for the regular selection of products this isn't for you (they can still order what you're looking for). What they do have? The most popular products and the best service you'll receive at any Sephora. These people are experts. They will match your foundation, find you the right products, and actually steer you towards what's best for you. I highly recommend trying one of their makeover services or mini facials! Mimi, their resident skincare guru got me together! We talked about my skincare concerns, did a mini facial, then found the perfect makeup routine tailored to my skin and the amount of time I have to get ready in the mornings. You'd think these services would be expensive but they're free with a purchase (specific prices). Some are actually just free! This is my new go-to Sephora location.
