The team at silver mirror slow walked me through getting my skin back to a healthy state. I'm now in a MUCH better state. I work with Maya and she's incredibly knowledgeable, especially with melanated skin, and makes sure my monthly facial is addressing the needs and concerns of my skin. The space is very calming, the staff are welcoming AND I love that they're open late during the week (so you can go after work if you need to). read more

I first visited Silver Mirror Facial Bar in DuPont Circle as part of a YelpDC event. I loved my facial soo much that I returned to that location with my cousin and I purchased memberships for us. Attempting to make an appointment at that location, there was no availability. I made appointments for us at this location. We were able to get afternoon appointments for the date we selected. When that date rolled around, I was given a call about coming in earlier due to the parade that was supposed to be happening. (I won't mention who the parade was for). Once I mentioned we weren't locals, I was told whenever you get here we'll take you right back. We were greeted upon arrival and offered water. It was a short wait for our esthetician and our facials soon began. The one thing that I love is that my esthetician was black (every time we visit | even at the other location). I felt very much at ease and she really knew what she was doing. My facial was sooo relaxing and my skin came out feeling so refreshed. She really listened to what I needed for my skin. My cousin loved her facial and she looked really dewy and glowy afterwards. The young lady at the desk even gave her skincare product advice. We will definitely be back if DuPont Circle is not available. My only concern is when making the appointment, I had no way of letting them know that my cousin has her own membership, so they had to cancel her appointment and reschedule it under her own account. I got the micro-channeling done with Nique. She did a very good job, and now that i've tried all three stores - this one is my favorite. The micro-channeling was 180.00 - which is the most affordable i've found in the city. Also the manager with green eyes was pleasant to speak with and had all the answers in terms of my membership questions. Thanks again! read more

I tried three times to get someone at Silver Mirror Facial Bar to speak with me about my monthly membership plan within days of my first charge. No one took my concerns seriously until I posted this review. At this point, I have no desire to speak with this business and would strongly advise customers to be cautious about the membership and any charges you may receive. This was definitely a well-deserved "treat-yo-self" experience. The front desk service was very sweet and nice and very informative on the different options available. The products on display were available for purchase, and Samantha (woman who did my facial) even came out and recommended some products specifically for my skin. I love coming here! I've had Maya and Sheniqua and both were very knowledgeable about my skin type. They've helped me create a skin routine based on products best for my skin. The facials themselves are very gentle and soothing. I love getting them once a month to clear my pores. I break out pretty easily and my skin has cleared greatly after coming here! The add ons are fun- I've had the gua sha massage (sooo good) and the dermaplaning (never had done before and it left my skin so smooth). read more

I really enjoyed my facial from Angelica! The service was rejuvenating and I was pleased with how my skin looked when leaving. Angelica was engaged when I spoke about concerns with my skin and described everything she was doing throughout the treatment which I really appreciated. We did a microcurrent treatment during my session which really made my face feel more firm and lifted. Only reason for the 4 stars is that I'm not sure I love the facial bar layout. I recognize her voice on the phone every time and she remembers me And recognizes me each time as a returning member. I tried out a few different facial specialists at first and while they were all good Angelica was great!! She has great skin care knowledge and relaxing techniques. I enjoy my facials here. Some aestheticians have better bedside manner, as it were, than others. They always ask about guardrails you might have like claustrophobia or sensitivities beyond your physical health, which is nice. While I was pregnant, I had some who really cared about making my experience worth it, but one who seemed exasperated with how little she could do and told me I probably shouldn't come back til I was done with my pregnancy - like what? I have a membership and this is supposed to be pregnancy safe? I don't go to the same aesthetician every time because I go around my limited schedule, but some are clearly better than others (my favorite is no longer there sadly and I definitely have some I'd avoid). If you like closed door privacy, this isn't for you. The store uses thin gauze curtains, and you can sometimes hear your neighbors. Some of the additional services are worth the upcharge (like dermaplaning and gua sha), but some I find to be an overcharge (like microcurrent and neck contouring). If you like a lot of extractions, you have to pay for extra. (And as with anywhere, different providers are going to be more or less painful at this than others.) This is not particular to the location but the membership system is a bit wonky and while it is a great value I can't say I'd recommend it. It is a great deal - a decently big discount on your monthly facial, and a discount on add ons and products. Sometimes a free gift if they remember to give it to you. But I still get emails acting like I'm not a member and it's just never really clear to me what exactly is happening with my membership at any time. You can roll your memberships into credits but you forfeit all value after three months, which feels a little ridiculous to me. It can be hard to get there every month. And I don't feel like it's clear how many months/credits you have at a time on their website. I will say, the front desk workers at this locations are saints to work with me because I always have so many questions about this (and they've admitted that there have been so weird things with my account). I am probably going to cancel my membership this month after I finally expend my full balance because the headache is simply not worth it and I've definitely lost the value of 1 facial when I wasn't coming as much in my pregnancy. That's on me for not just canceling then of course but I do feel like 3 months is a bit of a short horizon. I would not recommend the membership until you're sure you love them. For the value, convenience and the ease of scheduling, Silver Mirror is great and they do a solid job in your facials. Sometimes are better than others but overall I always leave feeling refreshed. read more

Updating my review to respond to the business- the attached photos were both *post facial*, not a before and after photo - and are of both sides of my face, hence the two photos, so your explanation for why I broke out makes no sense. I have 2 other friends who have visited this location and had the same thing happen to them. My skin was *completely clean* of any breakouts or pimples for over 1 years prior to my visit and my skin returned to normal about a month after my visit. read more

I was very much looking forward to this experience. In my opinion, I think it would be ideal to let customers know in advance that the facial is done in an "open concept" room. You can hear others talking and speaking candidly about their skin. In addition, the music playing was not relaxing in the least. Most facials I've had, have included a massage of the neck and shoulders, are in a private room and have relaxing music. I had a signature facial with two add-ons scheduled. The confirmation email said it would be 90min total. I was done in under an hour and saw minimal differences with my skin. Just not the experience I was expecting or would go back for, for $300. read more

Management Is A1, well specifically Tamika. She makes sure I am aware of my points and how to use them. She makes sure I get my samples, and she always calls prior to my appointment to see if I would like an earlier appointment. And Miya really diagnosis my skin and suggests AMAZING products tailored to my skin. Not products that are simply good, but good FOR ME! And so far each recommendation is having my skin better than ever before. Not leaving Miya ever!!. Miya really knows her products. I really get bang for my buck at silver mirror. Average experience. First the good: Silver Mirror Navy Yard has a relaxing, clean atmosphere, and the check-in process was a breeze. I got the lymphatic facial. The actual massage was great, but the products and application--not so much. The facial was pretty bare bones--cleansing, exfoliating mask, and serum. My skin was itchy after the facial, and when I got home, I couldn't take it anymore, so I wiped my skin down and found leftover pumpkin enzyme from the mask. Lo and behold, once I cleansed my skin, the itchiness went away. I must say their add-ons are a bit of a scam. The neck firming took her 20 seconds using one tool (an extra $25.00), and the eye puff minimizer (an additional $35.00) was simply them applying a Dr. Dennis Gross eye mask. I have the same at home that I bought at Sephora for $9.00. It was straightforward to get an appointment, but if you try them manage expectations and inquire about what is being used on your skin. read more

The location doesn't look nearly as large from the outside, but can accommodate a large number of clients all at once. Booked an hour-long, standard facial - the person who did my facial put 4 different serums on it, left for about 10-15 minutes while the facial was ongoing to "get more product," did no extractions, red light, exfoliation, massage... nothing special. Didn't ask if I wanted sunscreen rubbed all over my face after. I was kind of stunned when she then said that was it, it was over. Was charged $120 and then walked up to the front where they tried to sell me lots of expensive products. I noticed no difference in my skin - none of the issues were helped at all by this. When I called to ask about it, they offered me %20 off my next facial - not enough to make me ever want to go back. read more

5 years y'all - that's how long it's been since my last facial. Much of this due to some hesitancy following a very traumatic extraction experience years back at a spa in California. Luckily, my experience at Silver Mirror was a very positive one. My girl asked me about my skin, what I'm looking for and then began the 30 minute facial. Now, the facial I booked was focused on "relaxation" so think hydration and layers of wonderful masks that kept my skin glowing. No extractions so cannot speak to that service, but overall, a very relaxing environment with nice staff who make you feel comfortable regardless of which service you book! A bit on the pricey side, so may need to hold out till I get my next facial, but definitely worth a shot! read more

The new DC Silver Mirror location is amazing! IMO it offers a more quiet and relaxing vibe, if that's what you're looking for! I have nothing but amazing things to say about Silver Mirror at both Dupont and the new location in Navy Yard! I started going there over a year ago for a monthly facial and got a membership. I have always suffered with horrible acne and never found dermatologists helpful. Nothing ever changed, no matter the medicine (yes, I did accutane 3 times and have tried ever topical and oral medication in the book). I've had a few different treatments done at Silver Mirror over the past year, mostly the acne fighting facial, as well as biweekly acne clarifying peels. These were incredibly beneficial for me. I've had a few estheticians (all incredible), but Maraki has transformed my skin the past six+ months! She is wonderful, cares SO much for her clients, and I cannot thank her enough. YES, it is pricey. But for the pain (physically and mentally) that my acne used to cause me, I would go biweekly to Maraki a million times over! The photos are from before starting any treatments and membership with Silver Mirror! I do not take ANY medications for my acne; Maraki and the Silver Mirror folks are just amazing. read more

Maybe the best facial I've ever had :) disclaimer: I'm not a skincare fanatic. I get a facial maybe four times a year. Skin is for temperature regulation, immune defense, sensory input, and moisture retention (I'm a science teacher and a nurse). It's nice if it looks good, but that's not my focus. But - I do enjoy how relaxing a facial can be. I've done facials at Heyday Bethesda, Silver Mirror Dupont Circle, and Aura Ballston in the last few years. This was my first at Silver Mirror Navy Yard (they've been open for a month). I booked for an 8 pm signature facial (Navy Yard parking on a Tuesday is still kind of rough) and I think this is the best time to go - brush your teeth before and go home and get straight into bed :) Abigail was so, so lovely - warm, humorous, and communicative. She was also really thorough and gentle. Not sure if it's because it was my first facial here, but I felt like we went through 20+ products/treatments. I'm on the frugal side (re: public servant), but I felt like ~$100 for it was beyond reasonable. I really mulled this over because I hate leaving bad reviews but over a week later I'm still really disappointed with my experience. Tl;dr just pay for a real facial. The good: staff were very friendly, check-in, greeting etc. The products as far as I could tell were good . I didn't have any issues with the curtain situation; it's what made expected for something of this business model and it makes sense. The bad: I booked the long hydrating facial--nothing about my skin was changed for the better following. I am very lucky to have naturally good skin. I'm not a facial expert, but when I've had facials the extractions have been minor and easy. These extractions were painful, and more concerningly, very blunt. I'm not sure how else to describe it but sometimes she pushed really hard for a long period of time multiple times, didn't seem to succeed at whatever she was trying, and even apologized. My skin has weird bumps that look bad in areas where I don't ever have acne issues and I'm frankly thankful there isn't scarring. Beyond the egregious, there was nothing done in this facial (50 min) that I couldn't do myself. Something applied, something removed. Nothing massaged, scrubbed, etc. I was under a light for like 10 mins. Lastly, the whole point was it was a moisturizing facial that I booked. When I as asked for issues, I said my skin was dry. Even 24 hrs later my skin was exactly as dry as I started. I've accomplished more with a sleeping mask from Sephora. I will never go back here and would not recommend. read more

I am not that great with skin care but I'm also extremely cautious about what I do with / put on my skin. But ever since I've started coming here I've noticed a huge improvement. I never break out anymore. My skin looks mostly healthy and happy. Needless to mention that their aestheticians are so friendly and lovely. This was the best Acne facial I have ever received. I've had cystic acne since I was a teenager and the entire process was an amazing experience. My facialist was knowledgeable and walked me through each of the steps. My skin was red for a day but now looks so much better. I signed up for a membership and I'll be back next month! I would usually visit the Dupont location (which is also fantastic), but this one was closer to home, so I decided to give it a try - and I'm so happy I did! My 50 min facial was with Rasheda and she was amazing! Very friendly, kind and extremely knowledgeable about what my skin needed during these wintery dry months.
