I didn't have much time, but I decided to search for local beauty supply stores before walking to the nearby CVS and that's how I came across Ann's which surprisingly is about a 3 minute walk from my house. I just moved to this area and had no clue that I'd actually find a black beauty supply store so close. I ran over to Ann's to get my nail supplies. The front of the building looked comparable to any other commercial building storefront that you'd normally see in the area, but when I opened the door, I was shocked to see what looked like a long lost episode of the show "Hoarders!" There was literally stuff EVERYWHERE. No order or organization to any of it. Honestly I don't think I've ever seen a store that was actually open for business that was this bad. I read a couple of reviews on the way, but I was still completely shocked to see anything that looked like this. Nonetheless, i was quickly approached by a kind older Asian lady (which I assumed to be Ms. Ann) that greeted me and asked what I needed. I told her what all I was looking for and she went right to it. Her kindness, the fact that she had what I needed and the fact that her prices were very reasonable, will likely keep me from completing ruling this place out if I find myself in a beauty emergency. However the lack of organization will likely keep me from frequenting here. And even if I did return I wouldn't dare buy anything open package. If it return, it would not only have to be an emergency, but also be because she has something that I couldn't get at CVS. Glad to have a place nearby that actually sells black products, but not at all happy about the condition of the inside of the store. I called and a lovely child answered the phone, "Hunnybunny Boutique. How can I help you?" I thought it was the cutest thing. I read on the website that the store was owned by two young girls. She confirmed they were open and I told her I was on my way. The boutique is really cute. Its in a row home and feels light and airy when you enter. As soon as I walked in I was greeted by the dad (I love this family operation). He gave me time to smell the different shea butter creams and natural soaps (yes I had my mask on of course). I ended up putting together a kit for my mom and sister, who are both essential workers at this time and I am sure their hands are dry from the excessive hand washing these days. The dad wrapped my items nicely and I was ready when they arrived. The creams and soaps were such a hit, both my mother and my sister wanted to visit the store to get more items for their coworkers back home. So we went again on Sunday to get more products. I was really thankful this place was open and I could leave a nice welcome package on the beds for my mother and sister when they arrived. I too have been using the cherry almond vanilla shea butter and I will be back for more. Shea butter and natural soaps are a godsend for my dry skin. And I am happy to know I can easily pick them up and support a local family that is teaching entrepreneurship to their girls at such a young age.
