Aside from great people, you will find produce, hand-crafts, meals, baked goods, coffee, Kombucha and more that I have probably overlooked. What you won't find is dogs. Sadly, dogs are not allowed. Even nice ones. But now let's talk about goats. Get this: The market opens every year in April (I think) with a goat parade!!!!!!!!! Mind blown. A goat parade? Yes! Goats marching to music! I LOVE GOATS! Okay beyond my obsession with goats, here is some useful info: The market is currently twice a week. Wednesday is mostly food. Saturday is food, art, and the works.

The market is held on a community school backyard with a playground at the back. So if you are visiting with kids, plenty of options to manage the little tyrants. I got my toddler a very nice wooden bow & arrow and he loves it! We got wine, cheese, chocolate and everything was so good. I cannot explain but this market had that warm, happy, community vibe to it and that feeling is amazing. This will be my stop on every single visit to Victoria.

I don't think I have seen more beautiful blooms anywhere else! I love that it was heavily focused on local small businesses, farmers, and FOOD. We stopped for a few bites along the way and were blown away every time. So good. This market is huge and stretches for a few blocks, so be sure to come early and give yourself ample time to explore. Also, with it being in Ballard, there are a ton of cool, hipster shops to browse while you're in the area.

Subsequently, I lost some interest since I don't live nearby. While I was in Ballard on a recent Sunday, I rushed to the market to see if it was still open. Officially, it was not; they closed at 2pm. But they were still packing up. I believe they are not allowed to sell after the official closing time; I asked one vendor, they declined. The staff wants the streets to reopen as soon as possible. As I walked the two blocks, several vendors still have some items on display on their tables. With a bit of wink, wink, accidentally dropping cash on the table and accidentally taking things off the table, I walked away with goodies. I won't say what I bought to avoid anyone getting into trouble. Street parking was easy enough nearby on a Sunday.
