Sequoia Brewing Co. is such an underrated restaurant and truly a hidden gem in North Fresno! We hadn't been back since the ownership change; it used to be one of our favorites, and I can honestly say we love it just as much, if not even more now. The updated menu has some great new options, including the chicken piccata, which was absolutely delicious. Everything we ordered was flavorful, came out hot, and arrived quickly. We were celebrating a birthday with a large party of about 15 people, and our waitress completely nailed it. Every single food and drink order was correct, and she kept up with our group effortlessly. She truly killed it! All of our guests kept commenting on how great the food and service were. Met up with some friends to listen to a cover band and had a great time! It's in a great location and the atmosphere inside is really nice, definitely a big upgrade from the Fresno location. We started off with some apps and drinks. The Giant Forest Nachos with steak were delicious and absolutely massive, easily enough to feed 6 people! The Fish Camp Poke Nachos were also really good; the wonton chips were crispy and the sauce had a perfect kick. For dinner, I ordered the Atlantic Salmon. Pro tip: Ask how it's prepared! I wasn't expecting it to come topped with barbecue sauce and bacon, and since I don't eat bacon, that was disappointing. The salmon itself was beautifully cooked and moist, though! It came with garlic mashed potatoes (great) and sautéed vegetables (zucchini/squash/broccoli), which were honestly pretty bland. As for drinks, I ordered the Three Rivers. It tasted mostly like juice and club soda with barely any alcohol. My friend felt the same, even after we ordered a second round, so I probably wouldn't order that one again. Service wise, it was packed, so we didn't mind the slower pace. But we were caught off guard when our server closed out our tabs because he was going home and told us to order from the bar. Usually staff transfers a table instead, so that felt a little abrupt, especially since we hadn't ordered entrees or more drinks yet. Not a huge deal, just something that stood out. Overall, we still had a fun night! Great location, solid food, and a lively atmosphere. Just a couple hiccups, but I'd definitely give it another try. read more

We loved this place so much we stopped here both going to and coming back from Yosemite. The Blossom Trail beer was right up my alley - a Blue Moon-style (but better!) honey wheat ale. Victoria took amazing care of us during our visit to Sequoia Brewing. We had the onion rings and a Philly cheese with fries. Bread on sandwich was super fresh and steak was very tender. We were in the mood to try someplace new, so we chose Sequoia! It was a friday evening and we were seated immediately which was nice. Other than that, dinner service was slow. We came in during happy hour and on their menu, the potstickers with a side of gochujang sauce caught our eyes! I was honestly surprised/impressed they offered this, especially with gochujang! When it came out, we were disappointed- it was a basic sweet chili sauce, not gochujang. The potstickers themselves weren't that great either. It was a reach for Sequoia, and I think they should probably stick to American dishes for now. We also ordered a loaded baked potato which came out fine and a tri tip sandwich with a side of fries. This spot was a fun brewpub with good beer and good food. We shared the chips and salsa to start and this was probably our favorite item. There was the perfect ratio of chips to salsa and the salsa had a nice spice to it! My husband ordered a flatbread and enjoyed it but didn't love it. He said it could have been a little crispier, but that could also just be personal preference. I ordered the fish and chips and it was a generous portion and was also very tasty. We made our reservation directly with the manager, Justin, for 7:30 pm--the only time available. Justin assured us we would have an appetizer by 8:00 pm. By 9:00 pm, our server (Stella) still had not placed our order. We then learned she had either quit or been fired mid-service, and a new server--who was very kind--took over. Went to Sequoia before opening night of Fresno Grizzlies Game. Tuesday night 6 pm. Depressing slow night watching the brew room being hosed down...seated in the back near the restroom instead of any other preferable area. Ordered a Cobb salad and chicken Alfredo. Beer wasn't as cold as I like but was tasty. The salad was in a huge bowl but the jug ranch dressing made the salad bleh... the worst part of the meal was the gummy pasty chicken Alfredo. The pasta was overcooked and the gummy sauce was wallpaper paste. As big as the salad bowl was the pasta was plated in a poor choice for serving too deep almost looked like a scooped portion in a soup bowl. The more dinner entree looked like a plating afterthought...my partner didn't eat any of the pasta and I picked at my generic salad. A good server would have realized an issue and attempted to make it better. Ours was absent... pity we've had good times in Tower and at Sequoia Brewing. read more

We came here Friday night for dinner and what a nice surprise. We started with the fried calamari and steak bites very good!!! For the entrees we had the shrimp tacos and the chicken Cobb salad which were outstanding. After that amazing meal we had to try the desserts. Dropped by here right after work. We had a bigger group but they were able to accommodate us right away. We had a ton of food to pass around and my favorites were the Mac and Cheese and Chili. Fries, calamari, wings and steak bites were all decent. I think I enjoyed their apps and sides more than the main dishes. The steak salad was large, but really just full of lettuce. Very little of all the other ingredients. I'd probably avoid this in the future. I'm excited to come back and try more of their apps though! read more

Used to come here a lot before they closed. It seems to be a different crowd of employees and customers. I took an out of town coworker on a weekend evening my second visit since re-opening and they were blasting incredibly loud karaoke, to the point we couldn't enjoy our visit and left. I would not recommend on the weekend evenings unless you're into that. The food was a little overpriced for the quality I got. The drinks however, were on point, with great prices during happy hour. The service was fine, but it's just not my vibe anymore. If you don't have gauged earrings, a septum ring, or a pride shirt you won't fit in or feel comfortable. Maybe it needs some time to settle in, I will try back in a few months. Still hoping because I love Tioga Sequoia beer. Ohh they also have Belching Beaver Peanut Butter Stout on tap. I never liked stouts, but that one's great! Overall, give it a shot at least once, it's not a bad place and I'm hoping for a comeback. read more

While dining on a Saturday evening, there were a couple of families who had children aging from 4 to 11 maybe 12, close to a dozen children. They were running screaming yelling, jumping, running around diners table, including mine. I couldn't even hold a conversation because it was so loud and it was very stressful. I asked the server if they could ask the parents to have the children sit down or at least stop screaming and yelling and running around our tables while customers were trying to eat. He got the manager, the manager said that he wasn't comfortable asking the children to go back to their tables, so I said well can you talk to their parents and he said he wasn't really comfortable with that either because it's a family restaurant. He said he can't really tell them what to do with their children. He did go talk to them and one parent came over and got a couple of the kids. The other parents just sat and drank their alcoholic beverages and allowed their children to continue acting like wild animals. I've never seen anything like it. I wonder what they would do if I went in there and started running around tables, hollering and yelling, disrupting all the diners. Do you think they would let me do that? Climbing on chairs jumping off of them. It was very bizzare. I expressed to the manager that I thought he was completely wrong, those children could've fallen hurt themselves - knocked over a server with hot food... They were throwing things that could've hit someone. This went on for well over an hour - during our entire meal. Manager said they usually run around on the patio... like seriously??? I'm sure they are not allowed to act like that at school cafeteria. It was horrible. read more

Went on 6/4/24 with a coworker. They were having trivia night. This was very fun. I was so satisfied with the food. I ordered quesadillas and they filled me up. I was so full. I also ordered a margarita and some type of fruity wine, can't remember what it was called. My coworker ordered a burger but from what she told me, the meat was a bit dry. Other than this she loved everything else. Price wise it's to be expected for the area. I would definitely come back for the food! and another trivia night! So glad we found this place just driving around, it was a rustic cool & relaxing vibe. We sat outside under the metal covering, with wine barrels and hanging lights as decor, breezy and comfortable while we ate. The food was so good, great flavor and lots of choices on the menu. We chose the Blackbear Clubhouse with Italian cream soup and Grizzly Giant Burger with the Italian soup as well but you could choose coleslaw or fries. The prices were surprisingly affordable (let's keep it that way ;) Miranda was a very good server, kind and attentive. My husband had to go to work right after so we didn't try anything in the bar menu but we plan on visiting again, the drinks menu is plentiful. Once I arrived the host greeted me at the door. I was able to locate my friends we ordered food and beverages. I had the shrimp tacos and the sweet potatoes fries yummy. We love a good happy hour spot that has great food, great portions, great service, great ambiance, great prices and a great experience overall. Truly loved this place for excellent pub food and drinks. Came here on a Sunday afternoon and caught happy hour. We tried the fish and chips and they were excellent. Wanted to try this place again after reopening. Had a large group of 8 adults and 6 small children and was sat at 530pm. They were able to accommodate us on the patio. After taking a while to order drinks, we waited and waited and waited to order our food. Finally ordered food and didn't get our appetizers until 1 hour and 30 mins after sitting down. Food didn't come until 1 hour and 45 mins. Mind you, we had so many small children that were hungry and getting very antsy. The last entree wasn't brought until 1hr and 57 mins after being seated. By the time we were able to get the check it was over 2hrs and 30 mins. I've never waited so long for food at a restaurant before in my entire life. I thought the reopening and new management was going to be positive, but it's been a horrible first experience and we'll be making sure everyone knows to avoid this place until this is fixed. read more

I have nothing but the highest hopes for Sequoia. It's a great location and they have a monopoly in North Fresno on live music on weekends. Really hoped when they reopened (with 18 new investors) we'd have a transformed neighborhood bar. I don't even think they updated the napkins from when they shut down. The food is airport food and you do not feel well after. We've tried it all - wings, salads, Philly cheesesteak, flatbreads, pretzels, etc. The service you receive is always dependent on where you sit. If you're not at the bar, plan on having one drink and maybe one appetizer if you're lucky. The bartenders are great. The fire pits outside are cool. This just has potential to be so much more. I don't think I will ever eat there again. I'll go and have a few drinks and listen to the bands, but that's it. read more

I took 2 teens here for a late lunch/early dinner and we had a great time. There were a lot of employees walking around so it was definitely peace of mind seeing multiple people on top of constant cleaning/sanitizing. It was pretty quiet but still lively with all the TVs and music going. The kids had never been there but we were all happy with our experience. The food was quick and just how we expected it, serving sizes haven't been affected at all post(mid?)-pandemic. We needed boxes and have lots of leftovers to last us! The kids especially loved their home brewed root beer in big beer mugs. Gage was our server and he was the sweetest thing ever. So nice and helpful and he checked on us more than I've been used to in any restaurant these days. He was exceptional and I appreciated the time he took for us. This review is mostly just for the service. We went Friday night to watch the live band. within the hour we were there the waitress only came around twice. I had to go up to the bar to order my drink and once I was done with the drink she never even offered me another one. She spent most of her time in the corner with the other waiters chatting it up. What made me the most upset was the fact that she charged us for a "large party" when there was only 5 of us who were there drinking. We had two other people there who order absolutely NOTHING, not even water and we were considered a large party. Ridiculous. Why cause we were taking up a chair in an empty dining area.
