My mother came to know and appreciate each of her caregivers, looking forward to their return and greeting them with genuine pleasure and gratitude. In large ways and small, the staff at Sierra Valley Rehab communicated care. From gentle explanations (I'm going to help you turn onto your side now, Bobbie) to tender greetings (How are you feeling this afternoon, Miss Bobbie?), staff conveyed respect and personal care. Our family was fortunate to be at Mom's side throughout her illness. Sierra Valley Rehab accommodated our desire to share her days as much as possible, ensuring everyone's comfort and accessibility. Dawn, the Intake manager, was clear and concerned when discussing Mom's needs. She would respond to any phone call, letting us know when she would be available or stopping by Mom's room to answer any question. Cynthia was Mom's primary Charge Nurse, and we could not ask for a better advocate for Mom's care. Cynthia was always aware of Mom's diagnosis, any changes in her needs, and was consistent in reflecting on adjustments to Mom's medications. She would synthesize and extrapolate, offering insight and advice whenever our family felt uncertain of Mom's needs. But perhaps most importantly, Cynthia conveyed a tenderness, a gentle strength, and an absolute understanding of what Mom was experiencing day-to-day and what her children, her family, were experiencing as her health weakened. By the time Mom's health was clearly deteriorating, we offered to take her home, to return her to her house. She didn't want to move. She told us she felt safe at Sierra Valley Rehab, adding that the staff anticipated her needs and offered an extra helping hand whenever needed. The staff exhibited alarming unprofessionalism and a clear lack of coordination. My husband was transported to the ER by ambulance due to symptoms I strongly suspected indicated a stroke. After I informed the medical staff of my suspicion, his diagnosis quickly solidified as "possible stroke," and the hospital initiated various tests, including a CT scan, echocardiogram, therapy, and an MRI. However, a troubling incident soon followed. A technician entered my husband's room to discuss the CT scan results. He directly asked my husband if he had previously suffered a stroke. When my husband stated he had not been informed of any past stroke, the technician insisted that the neurologist had identified signs of a previous stroke on the scan. Shortly thereafter, his registered nurse came to perform routine care. I immediately questioned her about the technician's assertion of a past stroke. After reviewing the portable computer cart she wheeled in, she definitively stated there were no notes in his chart indicating any previous stroke. When I reiterated what the technician had told us, she responded, "Yes, I know, I heard him tell you that - but it's not true." Upon the physician's arrival, I once again inquired about the previous stroke the technician had suggested. His response was unequivocal: "No, there are no signs of a previous stroke." "But then," I asked, "why would the technician say such a thing if it isn't true?" The doctor looked me squarely in the eye. "Was he a doctor?" "No," I confirmed. "I am the doctor," he stated, his voice carrying undeniable authority. "Ask me the questions. No one else here knows anything." The central issue stemmed from the neurologist participating in the CT scan analysis via live video conference--a setup that led immediately to a crucial realization: she was the one who called attention to the finding. The emergency room doctor stated there was no history of stroke, which contradicted what we had been told. This discrepancy left us feeling confused and frightened, unsure of what information to trust regarding my husband's condition. The overall atmosphere of the ER felt unprofessional and disorganized, adding to our anxiety in a situation where my husband desperately needed competent care. Our two-day experience at SVDH was marked by significant neglect. Throughout his stay, his hospital room was not cleaned, and his bedding and gown were left unchanged. He was also denied the opportunity for a shower. The constant, jarring alarm of his IV monitor, sounding every half-hour without resolution, ensured he received no rest, day or night. This was an unacceptable level of care, and we will never consider SVDH for emergency services again.

I've been there several times for myself and once with my 4 year old nephew. when its a true emergency ie. severe allergic reaction with potential antiphallic shock and in another case heart attack and dog bite, the staff immediately reacted. When the problem is just flu, stomach problems or in some cases people shopping for opioids they are triaged to the bottom of the list. The problem with most ERs is people use it rather than go to a doctor's office, creating crowds at times. It is understandable since many people do not have medical insurance and can't afford a doctor. All of which is a product of the USA's inadequate, expensive, profit driven health care system.

My grandma has been in so many different facilities and has walked out of most of them, but this…read moreone has so much for her to do, I loved the mini ice cream parlor and the little beauty salon, they have a big piano in the lobby for anyone to play, two nice size outdoor courtyards, a garden, two Physical therapy rooms, plus a family dinning room, they have a large Library with a big TV, the rooms are a nice size and the bathrooms are big, you are allowed to have some of your own personal things hanging on the walls and your own bedding, so you feel more like home. The men are on one side of the facility and the women on the other side separated by a very large nurses station, they have lots of fun activities all month long and some that are off the property. My grandma is 100 years young she was giving up on life, but with the wonderful staff and being able to get out of her room to socialize she is now happy and eating again, she is enjoying being able to get all dressed up to the 9 and with the hallways so large she can get around to visit other people and the sparkle is back in her eyes. My grandmas first day was to hard for her and they had to send her to the hospital, they have been very good to her and all the Patience and residences seem to always be in good spirits, it always smells great when you walk into the place and the rooms, even my moms doctor has his own mother in this place.
