The other day I called several times, listened thru the automated message & then each time sat on hold for quite some time before being disconnected! The following day I tried again at 4:30. And the message said they were not taking calls, that the "on call" team was covering. I thought this weird since their closing time is listed at 5:30, 7:30 & 9:30 pm- depending on the day. Finally, the next day I found a number for one of the nurses there & was able to leave a voicemail. I received a call back today. When I relayed the extreme difficulty I had trying to reschedule an appt to this support staff/scheduler I received a chuckle & was matter of factly told it was normal that no one answers the phones after 4:20 pm since that is when they stop taking calls & refer everything to the "on-call" team. This was news to us! Then why bother listing their "open" hours as being a full hour past that time, 2 hours past that time & 5 hours past that time-- depending on the day? So in summary, the telephone triage system is VERY inconvenient to navigate, and usually results in long wait times and disconnects/hang ups. And patients should know that they stop answering the phones for non-emergencies at 4:30- regardless of their posted hours.

Every visit has been truly lovely. Each staff member welcomes each patient, introduces themselves, explains what will happen at each step in the process, and provides little things for comfort like a warm blanket while napping in preparation for a contrast CT. Always calm, smiling, comforting and attentive. All appointments have started exactly on time which helps relieve anxiety as there is no stressful waiting. The facility is spotless and so beautiful. It does not feel like a hospital at all. Nice cafeteria for a snack afterwards. Free parking, too. Shout out especially to Ms. Lavin for a really extraordinary and helpful educational session today. If you should have a need for a medical genetics consult I highly recommend Christina Lavin! And thank you to medical assistant Janice for the quick and painless blood draw today. My experience with the Ambulatory Surgery Center was positive from start to finish. From the moment my parents and I arrived, everything was high touch. I was brought to my pre-op room where I proceeded to meet what seemed like 20 people who would be involved in my care. Each person introduced themselves, told me what role they played, and made a bit of small talk, which I really appreciated since I was a bit nervous. They were also very good about making sure all of the i's were dotted and t's were crossed for my sinus surgery. I got a wristband noting that I had a drug allergy and a temporary tattoo on my forehead to confirm the surgery location, you know so you don't go in for sinus surgery and leave with a boob job. A doctor must initial the location before surgery and they remove it before sending you home; I went home with a big wad of gauze taped to my face, a tattoo would've just made me look silly. They ask you a lot of the same questions repeatedly; just so nothing gets overlooked. They were very gentle, from placing my IV to intubating me I felt almost no pain. When I woke up in recovery they were like cheerleaders telling me how well everything went and how well I woke from the anesthesia and making sure I was warm and comfortable. The woman in the waiting area was also a doll, to quote my mom; by the time I left they were on a first name basis. My parents were a bit nervous when my procedure went longer than expected and she assuaged their fears. The day after surgery I got a call to see how I was doing. Despite having already contacted my doctor's office about my ineffective pain meds, they were helpful in making sure I got everything sorted out. From start to finish this place ran like a well oiled machine, I always felt like I was in really good hands. They also really impressed my mom; as someone who has worked and volunteered in hospitals for years, as well as spending time in them as a patient, she can be a very tough critic.

This is my first time at this surgery center in the olson Pavillion. The pavillion was easy to find from the parking garage with many signs leading you along the way. The registration desk was quick, efficient and very friendly. All of the staff that assisted my mother in pre op were also extremely patient and friendly and did not make us feel rushed or like just a number. They listened to our concerns and were very detailed with their explantions but not in a way that was indecipherable to the untrained ear. The nurse even called during my mothers procedure to let me know it was going well. I only wish this hospital was closer to me so I could come here too.

It was a Monday and you should know that orthopaedic cases and Mondays go together like hand and glove; i.e., it was quite busy. I found this facility to be top notch, well organized, well maintained, clean, bright, and efficient. Staff here is top notch too. They have a huge parking lot that not only supports this center, but the adjacent Neurological Institute and the Glenbrook Hospital as well. I left there not knowing any more than I knew before going. She wrote me a precription for a blood test and said her tech was not in that particular day but I could go to my PC physician to have it done. She did not indicate what she thought my diagnosis was nor did she suggest a followup appt with her. I left that day knowing I would not set my feet in her office again.
