Came here for a date night. The presentation of everything here is very nice. We ordered the bread service, which my boyfriend, who's originally from Portugal, had said was a must. I would agree. The assortment was lovely and delish. We had ordered a bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon that they ended up being out of but the plan B recommendation was outstanding. We ordered the wahoo crudo, which was as pretty as it was delicious. I ordered the duck rice, which was very good. Duck can be hit or miss but this did not miss. My boyfriend had gotten excited for the chicken dish that was on the menu - unfortunately they were out of it so he ended up getting the lobster dish. I tried it and thought it tasted great but the lobster was on the small side. For dessert we ordered the chocolate bomba...nice blend of flavors with the hazelnut and cherry sorbet! Though they were out of certain things, the service and overall experience was fab. read more

Bravo, bravo! Sereia is definitely a spot you must add to your summer hit list. Located in Coconut Grove, this spot screams luxury. The Portuguese/ Mediterranean cuisine is perfectly curated and fits Miami's tropical scene so perfectly. From 5 star service, to the unique flavors -- honestly some things i had only tried here -- everything is made for you to have a beautiful time. While everything was wow to me, a few of my favorites were the: - Tártaro de Pargo: Snapper Tartare, Avocado, Ginger and Apple Dressing - Pica Pau: Seared Filet Mignon, Garlic and Mustard Sauce, Pickled Vegetables - Cataplana de Peixe e Marisco Oh! And this is one of those spots where you won't want to miss out on their bread... trust me, it's a must! I am so sad to say that I did not eat here nor do I remember the name of the drinks we had, oh but you must try this place! Just by how amazing the drinks were and how passionate the staff was in describing the story behind the drinks - it is a no brainer. If you've never been, then come and see for yourself. Oh and order the drink with the fig (short glass drink on my photos) - you will not regret it! The restaurant is beautiful by the way and in a great spot! The food is superb! 5 stars without a doubt. With a Portuguese background, this cuisine was unexpectedly a home run! All the starters were amazing including the bread to start (we got all the cold ones believe it or not). Had the Cod as the main dish and it was amazing. Every dish we ordered was filled with flavor, beautifully presented, and absolutely delicious!! We had the bread service, dorado catch of the day, bacalhau a bras, gambas ao alhinho, aljo frances tostado, and wahoo curado all of which were amazing! Along with the delicious food the service was impeccable!! We had a lovely waitress and were treated exceptionally by Christian who we believe is a manager there. The amazing chef too, visited us to ensure our experience was all that we expected, and we found that to be an incredible gesture and show how much passion and love he has for what he does! He's undoubtedly one of the top chefs!! They all made our experience unforgettable! The ambiance of the restaurant is chic, beautifully decorated and a work of art! Loved....loved.... loved everything about this beautiful new Portuguese restaurant! It's got it all! Charm, beauty, sexiness & wait.....the FOOD is phenomenal! Think about it, this Michelin chef from Lisbon puts his neck out in South Florida MIA in CG for that matter next to another Michelin chef. Speaks volumes! The seafood was superb! Had the shrimp apps ordered another one bc how yummy it was. I can't wait to go back & order more delicious things again! Same old same old. I am beginning to think it's me. Another Miami restaurant that overpromises and under delivers. Aside from the food which was just ok and not spectacular, the service was terrible, often disappearing for long swathes of time (including significant delays of food arrival). Maybe it's not reasonable to expect great service anymore when you are paying $50 for entrees. I don't understand why we can't get good food and good service in Miami. It is a puzzle that remains unsolved. read more

Very disappointed with the food, this is not original Portuguese cuisine, the Bacalao a la Braza is more like a fish and potato grounded dish that tasted horrible and we had to returned to the kitchen, the braised cheeks had a foul smell and where send back as well, prices are overwhelming and quality is vey poor. Sereia... what a mesmerizing atmosphere that has been created by the team of this establishment. From the moment you walk in the staff is warm and you are welcomed into the room that feels like home- but like if you were a little fish swimming in the most beautiful little coral. When you are sat the ongoing service attending the table for bread, drinks, food... fabulous! The food itself was delicious. We decided to each do the Miami Spice menu selection. As someone who rarely eats red meat, the beef cheeks (Bochechas de Novilho) were my favorite. Every bite was so tender. I loved the scallops as well; the sauce on those were amazing. The drink of the night for me was the For Fig's Sake: the slight sweetness and sour combo did it for me, nothing overwhelming about it and very well balanced. We finished off with dessert, of course, in which my favorite was the PUDIM ABADE DE PRISCOS. There was a slight problem with the lights going out and we were given complimentary Mermaid Margaritas that were also very tasty. Henrique Sá Pessoa is a Michelin starred chef from Lisbon and this is his first US restaurant. The menu is representative of his talents and shows off the best of Portugal ... it's not at all like any other Portuguese restaurant you may have experienced in Miami as this is quite an elevated menu. We have dined here twice in the first month of its opening. There are only 4 entrees (a seafood stew, a bacalao hash, a pork belly dish and braised beef cheeks) plus two rice dishes (duck and prawn) ... they tend to be small and rich, so rich that my wife suggests sharing one. There are, however, a wide array of starters and snack offerings featuring both seafood and meats, as well as vegetable sides. Next time we may share a few of those and a rice. The desserts are wonderful, so typical of Portugal but elevated. This is not a bargain restaurant by any means; the prices are quite high ... don't expect otherwise. I am sure the chef expects recognition in the next Michelin guide. I think he'll get that. read more

Sereia is a beautiful restaurant. The food is Portuguese although it has local touches. The cocktails are well made, unusual and very delicious. The service still needs work. Seems like staff is trying hard but is not as seamless as one expects of such a quality restaurant. The deserts are stand outs as well read more

Have been here twice with my daughter and have thoroughly enjoyed it. I would describe the ambience feel as "elegant coastal". I'm not a designer so not sure what else to say. Clean lines, modern but with a soft, welcoming vibe? Food: Have tried the following items: - For Fig's Sake cocktail - so nice I ordered it the second visit too. Not too sweet, very balanced whisky cocktail. The foam adds a nice textural contrast and isn't just foam for foam's sake like other cocktails I've had. - Ostras - perfectly shucked oysters without a trace of shell, and a delicious vinaigrette. Best oysters I've had since a visit to Seattle years ago. - Wahoo Curado - a standout we ordered both times. Remarkably fresh, light, balanced sauce, with a sweet potato puree and some type of fancy chips to add additional textures and tastes. - Gazpacho - very well done. The cured watermelon is something I haven't had before and adds an interesting texture that I enjoyed but YMMV. I like all gazpacho though. - Gambas ao Alhinho - perfectly cooked, large prawns, but definitely a tapas portion. Nice sauce to accompany it. - Bacalhau a bras - this is the dish we came back to have again. Not a typical bacalao dish, but both my daughter and I loved it (we each ordered our own at our second visit). - Bochechas (beef cheeks) - delicate and perfectly cooked. More subtle flavors for a steak dish. It was excellent, but I tend to like more robust flavors with beef. - Pica pau (filet in a garlic mustard sauce) - this was delicious. We ordered additional bread to mop up the sauce. More robust flavors, which is my jam for beef dishes, as stated earlier. Desserts are a standout here. We have had: - Sorbets - cherry, tangerine, orange, grapefruit. Cherry was my daughter's favorite, but I think the grapefruit is the standout. The slight bitterness with the sweet is unique. I'd buy this by the pint if I could. Pudim Abade de Priscos - sorbet, almond crumble, with a custard block. Nice mix of textures and flavors. Arroz doce - my favorite. A fantastic rice custard (rice pudding texture). The meringue on top was light and delicate. The caramel crisp thing on top adds another texture. Love this dessert. Service: We had consistently fantastic service during both visits. There doesn't seem to be turnover in staff (an excellent sign), and during our second visit, several staff members remembered us from just one visit a month prior, and it wasn't just a "we see you've dined with us before" thing...they recalled specific details of a conversation they had with my 11 year old daughter during our prior visit. I think it's the best service I've had in Miami and the staff actually seems to enjoy each other and the guests. Plates, cutlery, and tables cleaned between each course. Steak knives nice enough to notice...high quality, and I appreciate a proper edge vs a serrated one. Definitely a special occasion restaurant. As others have stated, it is pricey, sometimes painfully so. However, the overall experience and little touches make it clear to me that Sereia is shooting for a Michelin star. I'd be surprised if they didn't get one. read more

Very good rice with Carabineros (a delicious type of shrimp) but super-over-priced at $55 with only about four shrimp. Also good but super-expensive were the patatas bravas with alioli sauce ($14)z The bacalao codfish specialty entree is good but not fabulous. The margarita with strawberries was small and somewhat diluted (not worth $19. Dessert of mousse with ice cream was just OK. The restaurant was elegant, full and quite noisy. Service was cordial and attentive. You must valet park as there is little parking available nearby ($11), which is reasonable for Miami. At these restaurant prices we would not return. read more

Our group of 6 had a nice dinner at Serra on a Saturday evening. A very attractive venue but so noisy indoors, we opted to eat outside on a lovely evening. The service was fabulous and the food selection was a bit limited. The food was good but not great. The prices were a bit high but we are starting to get used to that in Miami's new trendy restaurants. The drinks were quite expensive at $29 for a plain martini. Probably will not go back. read more

Sereia is superb... we have appreciated Portuguese food for years but to try it in the context of modern cuisine was incredible. Dishes were extremely tasty and yet light (Portuguese cuisine is not exactly known for being 'light'). The quality is exceptional, served with care and purpose, and beautiful to look at! The shrimp in garlic is insane (forget about those over garliced and oily gambás al ajillo from Spanish restaurants) - these are light and aromatic and the shrimps are some of the freshest I have ever tried in Miami! The cod is an experience; once again, devoid of all the heavy ingredients and crowned by a simple raw egg that takes it to another level - I could have had two portions it was so delicious. The scallops were nice and salty in an espuma with caviar, perfect to get the taste buds ready for the experience to come. The chicken Piri Piri was true to its heritage as asserted by a fellow diner from Africa and used to fantastic Portuguese-inspired food from Mozambique. Desserts were amazing, and the Portuguese are know to excel in their desserts! Sweet rice but dialed up with a cream that looked like meringue but had a yogurt base - mind blowing. The deconstructed Pastel De Nata, a religious experience! And the pudim that was anything but pedestrian. The wine selection was respectable and we ended our meal with a small glass of Ginja - a sour sherry liqueur... NOT to be missed! We felt like we were in Óbidos!
