Bacalhau A Old LIsbon
Ashley M.

My girlfriends and I dined here on one of my last nights on a recent visit to Miami. Given the rave reviews and recommendations, I was pretty excited to try this restaurant! My trip to Portugal was just last year, so I was looking forward to reliving some culinary memories. It was pretty easy to snag a last-minute reservation on a Saturday evening so we were seated right away with no wait. The restaurant has limited parking but valet is available. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Inside, you definitely get "old" European vibes but it's packed with people inside and out.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]My friends and I were seated in a separate room apart from the main dining area - even this area was packed! We enjoyed being away from the crowd so we could catch up on conversation.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Food wasn't the best, but I've never loved Portuguese food, so my expectations weren't incredibly high, but [[HIGHLIGHT]]I did enjoy the ambiance, the availability of a restaurant with no wait on a Saturday night, and the great service.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We ordered the following: - Polvo A Vinagreta - Paelha A Marinheira - Bacalhau A Old LIsbon - Pastel de nata No dish was terrible, no dish was incredibly great. The seafood in my dish was delicious but it didn't carry the rest of the dishes. Overall, a good dining experience especially if you're looking for convenience on a Saturday night.

We have driven past this place over the last 10 years always wanting to try it. Today we were in the neighborhood and pulled into the parking lot to give it a shot. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The place has a good vibe as you enter.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] All the employees that work here are very attentive And they all help each other out. I honestly did not know what to expect as when it came to the food. We tried a few things out as we were not very hungry. We found the food to taste very authentic and if you like Mediterranean food, I'm sure you would enjoy it

Haven't been here in a while. Service was quick and the restaurant was not busy. This is a Portuguese menu so expect to see a lot of Cod dishes. Today I ordered the fish soup and Paella for one that, if conservative wise, two can ear from it. Food was good and it come out as ordered with a little under temperature for my taste. Nonetheless the food was on point as expected of this restaurant. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The ambience is very relaxing and both casual and elegant.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] It is up to you how to come but shorts or a tank top is not casual, just saying. This restaurant sits on a corner so I always park on the side. There is park and pay but it is worth it. They do have parking on the back just in case you want someone parking your car. Prices can be a little on the high end, however if you want to enjoy good food and a nice place outside the routine is worth it. Reason for not getting a 5 star is simple. As you know me, service is essential and when they forget about you on drinks that is a no no. A little picky on the temperature of the food but then again it is a matter of taste. Enjoy.

I was looking for Portuguese food and ended up going for the paella because why not? It was rich in seafood ingredients and very delicious. The portion was generous, and the flavors were well-balanced. That said, it had a bit too much liquid for my preference when it comes to paellas. I usually like them a bit drier with a crisp bottom layer. Still, the dish was enjoyable overall.

A great dining experience. Service was spot on and the food was extraordinary. A very great selection of porchgees wine and port to be had.

Don't think we ordered well. The portions are enormous and the rice dishes are not like paella. The octopus rice was very salty and was not good after a few bites.

Caldeirada de Bacalhau

This was my first time at this restaurant after being living in Miami for 25 years. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Upon arrival the place was packed on a Saturday night.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We were a party of 8 and took like 25 minutes to wait for our table although we had a reservation. The best dishes to order are with cod for sure. I had the one with potatoes and it was delicious, very good taste and balance on salt and pepper and onions. Other ordered the cod with cheese on top. Their portions are so big that one plate is good for two. I brought leftover home. Definitely worth the visit and go for a special ocassion and delicious cod dinner.

Seafood Paella

Came here for Father's Day and it did not disappoint. Their portions are great, kind service and [[HIGHLIGHT]]wonderful ambiance[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. Definitely recommend their Seafood Paella.

Fried Potatoes

Amazing, authentic Portuguese food! [[HIGHLIGHT]]We were seated in one of their discreet dining areas with a little wooden bar.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We had fresh bread with butter, followed by the main dishes which came in cast-iron pans. Everything we tried was delicious, from the flaky cod in thick tomato sauce to the tender beef. The cod tasted so fresh it verged on sinewy and chewy, a generous fillet was given which can last 2-3 meals. Their dessert menu is EXTENSIVE but of course had to try the pasteis de nata; they come in a set of 2, crispy and flaky with a cozy custard interior like a hug. We also tried the chocolate mousse and the almond tart which my Portuguese friend loved.

Rajiv K.

Wow! I finally made it and it didn't disappoint. After years of passing by this and thinking to myself I need to try it: it came into fruition tonight. It's a cute, classy interior with a show type of kitchen great service. Olive oil, wine and food all from Portugal. Their cod croquettes starter were tasty as well as the black eyed peas they topped. My surprising favorite was the vegetable strew. This alone Id return for. The cod main was also very nicely prepared with fresh trimmings albeit a bit bony (watch out!). Portion sizes were generous and all in I felt pricing fair. Loved that they had a decent dedicated parking lot. I'd totally return.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Traditional restaurant with a classic atmosphere.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I loved the steak more than the fish

Bacalhau à Lagareiro

I've been coming here for years with my family and it is ALWAYS good. The service is great and the food is amazing. Make sure you leave room for dessert, because the Pasteis de Nata is not to be missed.

What took us so long? I don't know now many times I passed this restaurant and thought of dining there in my 15 years in miami. Late night dinner on a Sunday turned out fantastic. Excellent appetizers, generous portions, loved the veal entree (which we shared for two). Sardines were better than in Portugal! I will definitely be back.

My first visit was…read moreabout a year ago, for a couple glasses of wine and snacks on a Saturday afternoon with my husband, and baby (now outings with a toddler are a bit too lively to patronize a wine shop). Another time was a weeknight evening with some fellow moms, and another was for a wine tasting that we noticed as we walked by. Sometimes, I have just stopped in to buy a bottle to take to dinner. Each visit has been great. It's a really cozy, welcoming place, with walls of wines of varying price points. The wine by the glass and snack/tapas menu is perfect, and if you are interested in having one of the many bottles that they sell, you will find knowledgeable help in identifying something you'll enjoy (and maybe something you haven't heard of before), at a price you are comfortable with.

Vinoteca is a small, cozy wine bar on Grand Avenue in Coconut Grove with a handful of indoor and…read moreoutdoor tables and about 1/2 dozen stools at the bar. They sell bottles of wine, imported olive oils, lots of (mostly European) wines by the glass, and light bites like charcuterie, small pizzas and popcorn. We've come here a few times, our dog was welcome, staff were friendly and outgoing, offering us various tabletop games like tic-tac-toe to pass the time, and once we'd both ordered a few glasses of wine, they offered us complimentary popcorn - something they normally charge for. Wines on their "by the glass" menu average about $16 each, and most staff pour them behind the bar where they have a gauge to measure out each one. The food prep area behind the bar is quite small (which is why they don't have a large menu), but so is this little gem of a wine spot in general. It's cozy, eclectic and great for a glass of wine and a small snack, or a nightcap after having dinner elsewhere. It's good for singles at the bar, or an intimate spot for couples and smaller groups. Vinoteca seems to have found their niche, and they've filled it quite nicely. That said, I'm not sure the staff, at least the ones working on the nights we've come, have a lot of knowledge about wines or are in the position to talk at length about their various selections.

Instead, we were sat at the smallest bar seating, which was completely inappropriate and not romantic at all for an occasion like Valentine's Day. As soon as we sat down, I politely asked if we could be moved. The manager then told me that I had booked bar seating, which is simply not true. Why would anyone reserve bar seating a month in advance for Valentine's Day? I checked my reservation confirmation myself and it never stated that, and I even tried making another reservation to verify ..bar seating wasn't even an option. He told us he would "see what he could do," and we were left waiting at the bar with no water, no menus, no service, and no communication whatsoever. Meanwhile, we watched multiple couples get seated at proper tables back-to-back. At one point, we even overheard another couple say their reservation was at the same time as ours, and they were seated at a table immediately. When I tried to politely ask for an update, the manager or owner completely ignored me. No acknowledgment, no apology, nothing. I was honestly in shock at how disrespectful and dismissive they were. We ended up getting up and leaving because of how uncomfortable and disrespected we felt. Valentine's Day is supposed to be special, and this restaurant completely ruined that experience.
