The staff are very friendly and attentive, the house is, I would say circa 1930's to 40's. We were in the Spanish room, rather small, it does however have a full bath. Some of the other rooms have bath tub/jacuzzis for an additional fee. The breakfasts were great, our second day's breakfast was a Valentine theme with a heart shaped egg and pancakes, in the room, there was a chocolate rose, very thoughtful. If you are in the Independence, Kansas City area and looking for some place to stay, this would be a great place to unwind, escape from the craziness of life for a weekend. I want to revisit this B&B sometime in the spring or early summer when the leaves are on the trees so I can enjoy the patio, I looked out the French doors into the patio area and thought it would be nice to sit out there on a beautiful night.

Here are the details: - This is a fine location that is close to attractions of KC: WWI Museum, Truman Library and Steamboat Arabia exhibit were our favorites. - Taking Lyft to dinner is quick and easy. (We enjoyed Q29 BBQ.) - The details I appreciated: coddled eggs served in beautiful coddlers, quality cutlery being placed perfectly (knife side in!), tasteful placement of antiques that give the room warmth and character. - Clean! I mused the bathroom floor was clean enough to eat off of... but I did not. - Attentive service! I brought back a six pack of ale and put into the cooler. At that time, there were only wine glasses standing by, but in the morning, Weizen glasses appeared in the collection. - I can't say enough of the quality! The food was real! Thick slices of real ham, fresh fruit; and even the capers were high end. There is a lot to see and do in KC. Ten of us recently rented out the whole Inn for a Junior High School reunion. Carl and Stephan worked hard to make sure everything was just right for us. Every detail was perfect - the ornately welcoming Victorian home was an elegant, but homey place for us to come together, each of the rooms was sparklingly clean and perfectly decorated and the breakfasts were amazing. Wanted a…read morereasonably priced room not too long a drive from the ballpark, and found this very clean and comfortable hotel in Independence MO. Private parking lot and coded entryways, quiet shaded patio. Moderately priced rooms. Just a swimming pool short of nirvana! My stay was during was the hottest week of the year, of course, but the air conditioning worked just fine, the bed was nice and soft, the shower pressure perfect. Books, sitting areas, quiet. Not modern, but tastefully furnished. All in all, a great find! And it was like staying with friends ... the front desk manager shared a backstreets route to the stadium with me, the trek under 15 minutes door to door! He also personally cooked breakfast in the morning! Can't wait to return when the Truman library re-opens!

It didn't click with me, though, until I stood at the front door (locked at 7:00pm) waiting (for a staffer to come open the door and let me in) what this hotel was all about... After seeing the halo in place of the dot above the "i" in their logo, things started to click. Do not let the religious aspect prevent you from staying here, though. Aside from a non-denominational prayer on the pillow, there was really nothing else religious about this place. In fact, what this place most resembles is a re-vamped college dorm. The layout is almost exactly like one of the dorms I lived in years and years ago. From the room itself to the hallways to the common areas - it's a dorm that wants to be a bed & breakfast. The entire hotel was welcoming and pristine. Bonus points for satellite TV. Decent bathroom. Very nice yard area (though, while I was here it was covered in snow). The best part, though - and, let's face it, when it comes down to it, this is the part that counts the most - was the bed. It was a fabulously comfy and warm bed. Soft, yet firm. Big, fluffy down comforter. Four extra-large pillows. It was one of my best hotel bed experiences.

She gave each of us two different glass that we from either garage sales, antique store, etc and each glass was adorable. There was cut glass, mini champange flutes, baby martini glasses, etc. 2. Each glass was either white or red so the taste would not get mixed together and no matter how we picked them up and set them down she remember which was which and never mixed them up. There were 4 of us with 8 very different glasses. This alone impressed me. 3. The place was decorated with Antiques and pictures, flowers and baskets and all sorts of knick knacks. She said the B&B was decorated in the same style. 4. The wines were all really good. I don't think there was any one I really didn't like. I ended up buying 3 bottles and with a purchase of 3 you get a free wine tote bag that seperates the wines for you. 5. Prices were great. Around $10 per bottle. The finally thing that I loved about this place is that they let you come out and help them pick the grapes and provide a lunch for you . You can sign up and they will let you know when the harvest will take place and you can go experience what it is like to harvest grapes for wine. Just splendid. We will be back.

Many other rules that while reasonable, we're not delivered w much empathy; felt our welcome and comments to us were robotic rather than warm. Maybe just me but I have stayed in lots of B&B and it seemed unusual. But if you don't mind those things then you would probably like it.
