A few years ago we moved to Chemainus and were happy to learn that there was a local Veterinarian. We had a 10 year old healthy Chihuahua, but when we moved to Chemainus, there was a huge number of people who don't clean up their dog poop and you know how dogs are. They will sniff and even lick other dog's feces. Well that is what happened to our little Chloe. She developed a serious bacterial infection and we took her to this VET clinic right away. They fit us in and the VET prescribed medicine for her. My wife picked up the medicine and the front counter technician gave her clear dosage instructions. We started to follow the medication schedule religiously, because we loved our furry baby, but she seems to be getting worse. She was doing very poorly and her tongue was turning black. We decided to get a second opinion from the Prevost Veterinary Clinic. They asked us what meds Chloe was on and I checked the label and noticed in horor that the dosage instructions were not what the Technician told us. The counter teck at Chemainus Animal Hospital told us to give her only half of what the VET prescribed. We took Chloe to Duncan Prevost Clinic and their VET said that she had advanced bacterial infection spread through her entire body and her tongue was black. The VET put her down on that visit. To ease her extreme suffering. Our beloved furry child/dog died because of a simple mistake that Chemainus Animal Hospital made. We know that clerical errors happen but this time their inefficient technician killed our dog. CAUTION: THIS SCENARIO COULD HAPPEN AGAIN. DO YOU REALLY WANT YOUR PET/FURRY FAMILY MEMBER TO DIE BECAUSE OF AN INCOMPETENT OVERWORKED DESK TECHNICIAN? GO TO PREVOST ANIMAL CLINIC IN DUNCAN BC. THEY CARE AND ARE EFFICIENT, GENTLE AND RELIABLE. WE TRUST THEM WITH OUR PET'S LIVES.
