Today was not only my first visit to Serendipity Wellness Studio, but it was also my first time getting a massage. I did some research, mostly on Yelp, to help decide where to get my first massage, and I was amazed by the phenomenal reviews of this place. And today I saw why these reviews are so amazing - my experience was fantastic from start to finish. Right when you walk in you are greeted with a calm waiting room where you can have some tea and relax. My massage therapist, Amy went above and beyond to make sure that I was comfortable and to ensure that my first massage would be a great experience. Tonya was my massage therapist. I highly recommend her if you need to work on tight muscles, accumulated tension, or just bring your stress level down. Tonya is a good listener, attentive to one's concerns and personable. She has 16 years of massage therapy experience that includes some unique training. The studio and especially the massage room are immaculately clean. The room is specious so you don't feel claustrophobic. Payments are handled over the phone to promote a maximum no touch approach. Wanted to write an update as my last one was from a couple years ago! Just had another massage, this was my first time with Jennifer (the owner) and it was one of the best I have ever had! Very relaxing, but most importantly, I can tell that I'm already feeling relief from the crazy tension I've had in my back and neck over the last couple weeks. I had a pre-natal massage with Raja and it was fabulous! I asked her to be hard on my muscles and work out my knots and muscle tension, as I have neck and back issues. Raja listened to my request and gave me a massage that was worth my time and money. I was sore the following day or so, proving she did a great job. Somehow, although the pressure was high, the environment was so relaxing that I dozed of mid-massage once or twice. The only reason I did not give five stars is I waited about 10 minutes until anyone greeted me when I entered the salon. I found the forms and figured out which ones to fill out myself, so I luckily had them completed by the time I was greeted. If not, it would have been a waste of 10 minutes! I didn't mind making my own tea or waiting a little, but compared to other salons where you are usually greeted immediately, given tea, and brought to a nice waiting area, this didn't compare. But I can live with that because the massage was so wonderful! read more

Let's keep this our secret... ! I should begin by saying I have been to A-LOT of spas. Most of the time I leave feeling moderately pampered, slightly gouged and entirely condescended to. If that 's your idea of a great spa experience, go knock on another 'Door'. Serendipity Wellness Studio is an entirely different experience. I went to Serendipity for the Organic Back Treatment with Ravi. She was great! Friendly, patient, and really listened to my needs. I have had breakouts on my back and Ravi was meticulous when it came to the extractions. The conversation was the perfect amount throughout the treatment and I truly felt relaxed. Although the extractions and scrub portion is less than comfortable, Ravi was great with providing a mini back massage and scalp massage as an ease of comfort. I am truly excited to go back within the next couple of weeks for the same treatment. Pluses: I thought the price was great for the services I received. The spa is clean, simple, quiet, and welcoming. Ravi was so kind and made me very comfortable. Parking is also free and there were plenty of spots available. I've gotten massages at serendipity several times in the past, and this last visit was the best one yet. Tonya took care of me, and she was amazing!! She was able to work out the kinks on my shoulders and back, and made me feel very comfortable throughout the whole 90 minutes. I came in with super stiff shoulders and came out feeling like jello. First time visit for me to Serendipity...It was totally out of necessity. I saw how many good reviews Serendipity had and decided to pay them a visit. And, they are in my neighborhood, an added bonus. This visit, however, was out of necessity. I woke up with severe internal pain in between my shoulder blades just below the base of my neck. So much pain that I knew I needed a deep tissue massage to work it out. I called and they were able to squeeze in a 30 minute massage. I arrived, there really is not a "check in" area. You just take a seat and they will come out and greet you and let the therapist know you are there. Atmosphere is relaxing and inviting. Water or tea was offered or you can help yourself. I was scheduled with Luz. She was kind and we went over where my pain was located. Then, she got to work. I won't lie, the massage was "deep" and it hurt. But, it was the kind of pain necessary in order to make my muscles let go. The term "hurt so good" came to mind. The end result was less pain! Luz was able to get the muscles to release. The next day my back was tender but I could breathe and the INTERNAL pain was gone. I came back a few days later for a 60 minute massage with Luz to keep working on my back and it was wonderful. I kept drifting in an out of a beautiful relaxed state during the massage. The word to describe the massage was simply Beautiful. I feel so much better now. Thank you Luz! I'm giving 4 stars really only because of my facial with Ravi. I have never had one so good. She was amazing. I went in for a pregnancy massage, a body scrub and a mini-facial. Ravi did my body scrub and mini facial. The best facial I have ever had! The body scrub was just not my thing and I probably wouldn't do it again. The pregnancy massage was horrible. I get it, I'm pregnant and they likely aren't allowed to do certain things, but I signed a little form saying I would communicate my needs and I did. I told her she could apply more pressure as I typically get really deep tissue massages (after all, I was in there for some serious neck and back pain). For as expensive as it was, I was hoping to leave there with less pain, but at some point, I felt she was simply resting her hand on my back and not even moving it at all. I indicated I had some sciatic pain as well and at one point she hit the spot and asked if that's where I had pain and I said yes and she stopped within 30 seconds. I got up after an hour feeling like my child just gave me a massage as he was falling asleep watching tv. Honestly, massages in VA have continued to disappoint me. The only time I've gotten a really good massage was in China town/NYC. One hour for $30. Massages here are quite expensive and regardless what you say to your therapist, they tend to do what they want or stick to the plan. The mini-facial was SO incredible and Ravi truly listened to my needs. She shared ideas to help me with issues I was having and I will DEFINITELY be back just for her. read more

This studio really offers a serene and comfortable experience for its clients. I payed 90 dollars (plus tip) for a 60 minutes custom massage and it was worth every penny. This was my first time getting a massage, and quite frankly I was a little nervous. My therapist, Raja made me feel so comfortable, and her calm energy helped ease my nerves. She answered all my questions thoroughly, and really emphasized that I should communicate with her during the massage what I do/do not like (which I did). The massage was AMAZING! You can tell the staff is very knowledgeable. The facility is very clean, though it is a little tricky to find. Allow yourself a little extra time to get there so you can find the suite, through the glass door on the second floor. You will also need to fill out some paper work your first time. Yesterday, April 20th, my fiancé and I went to our very first massage. I booked us a couples massage. My therapist was David and my fiancée therapist was Bonnie. I can not even begin to explain how wonderful our experience was. They were both so welcoming and nice the entire time. They took time in the beginning to see what we were looking for. Last Monday was my first visit to Serendipity Wellness Studio, and it was a wonderful experience.  I had been having some pain in my left shoulder, and some tension through my legs from the way I sit at my desk.  Not only did Erin manage to totally take care of all the tension in my legs, but she took care of all the tension and a knot she found in my right shoulder, and really did a number on the knots (so many knots...) she found in my left shoulder.  And all in a 60 minute massage!! There are heated pads and towels, soothing music, and essential oils...this place spares no expense in your relaxation experience. I didn't feel rushed at all, and every single person I interacted with at the studio was professional, kind, and helpful. I've been getting massages for more than 12 years, and Bonnie Pedder at Serendipity Wellness Studio is the best I have ever had. I went through a number of folks at other places, and Bonnie is head and shoulders above the rest. She seems to have a sixth sense for the problem spots and pressure. Just perfect. She's so good I've purchased a couple of two-hour packages from Serendipity and Bonnie will be my therapist each time. Please note, she tends to book up early so book well ahead of time. The studio is quite nice, in a quiet area very close to I-495 off of Braddock. Plenty of parking, comfortable and relaxing atmosphere, no dressing rooms but that's not an issue for me as it's not a place you go to hang out in a towel or robe -- at least not that I've seen. I asked a local women's group for suggestions of where to get a massage and received several recommendations for Serendipity and Arrion in particular for deep tissue therapeutic massage. Arrion asked about any areas that I was having trouble with and if I preferred that he spend more time on those. He worked out some deep knots that have been causing me daily pain and found more I didn't know I had. Once the knots were tended to, the rest of the massage allowed me to relax. He even used moist heat and aromatherapy for a well-rounded experience. I was given a hot towel to remove any excess oil after my massage, which was such a nice extra touch. I don't think Iv'e ever had the same massage therapist twice, but they're always awesome! This time I saw Bonnie P. She's super-sweet, but don't let that fool you- this girl can get deep into your knots- really great when your shoulders and neck are as crunchy as mine were. She's pretty much a sorceress. I was so massage-wasted that I don't really remember the drive home, but somehow I managed to pick up gingerbread from Whole Foods. Still not sure how that happened. But it was delicious. My husband keeps surprising me with gift certificates to Serendipity, and I'm always delighted to use them up! Be warned: this place is addictive. Omg this place is absolutely AMAZING. I've been here about 3 times now and don't think I will ever find another NoVa retreat that is so soothing and rejuvenating. My last two massages were with Jenna and the girl has been gifted with serious abilities to to restore your body back to normal. I've been meaning to write this..great experience! Easy to book an appointment and the owner was very responsive. I went there a few months ago and it was amazing! Very comfortable atmosphere and more importantly the massage was great. The aromas they used in the oil was not too strong and didn't smell cheap like some places. They put a hot towel over your feet while they work on your legs and then a diff one on your face when you lay on your back and cover your eyes. It's the little things that go a long way.
