She was barely eating and in pain. Everyone from Hospice was so caring and helpful during the end of life cycle. Mom went peacefully in her sleep one morning. Hospice not only cares for the patient but also the family, reaching out to myself many times to be sure I was ok and see if I needed grief counseling. Hospice employees are not just special people but angels, they made my moms last few weeks tolerable and comfortable for her. Hospice Care of the Berkshires took care of my Mom during the last 4 weeks of her life. She wanted to be at home, and Hospice Care made that possible. I didn't even know what hospice care was until I met all of these nice people who were in and out of the house, doing anything they could do to help.... even taking our two dogs out for a little walk if that helped. My Mom's main nurse was a wonderful woman named Laurie (Lori?) Moon ~ I hope she is still providing care to people because she is an angel!!

We recently visited a relative receiving palliative hospice care there (they have many levels of…read moreservice, btw). We did not tour the building, but what we saw of the facility and staff was reassuring. Protocols were clear; PPEs were provided and hand sanitizer was just steps away from every location. The rooms were bright and cheerful and the all areas that we saw were tidy and smelled clean. Our relative's room and bed were fresh looking and it appeared that good care was being taken.

We initially met with a coordinator and before you knew it, we were receiving all the supplies we needed, a nurse, an assistant to help with personal care, a social worker & clergy to speak to if we chose. They were available to us by phone around the clock. I can't thank our nurse Maryann enough. As my Dad was declining rapidly, she rushed over to help us. After his passing, Maryann was kind enough to put clothes on him so he continued to have his dignity. Thank you Catskill hospice for making this very difficult time easier for us.

Stay away from their palliative program, after doing an intake, being a palliative program patient…read morenow for several years with a dr who is retiring, this program just ghosted me and left me hanging. They do not return calls as promised, and are not equipped to be doing palliative care outside of the hospice work they do. Their nurses know better than The Hospital For Special Surgery, neurology at Westchester Med, my present palliative/hospice Dr and my primary Dr and deemed me not a palliative patient, but...the problem was they refused to call and tell me! They just ghosted me. Very cruel and unprofessional practice. The public needs to be warned about their palliative program they started, it is cruel in the way it practices. Public, be warned.

This place should get 2 stars for the tiny size of the rooms (10 x 12) with one moderate closet and…read morebarely adequate bathroom with no storage. Residents are charged more for every little assistance they might need. Example: getting reminded of a meal occasionally costs money. Need medicine handed out, that's more. If you even have low blood pressure or high blood pressure you are charged more, even if no treatment is indicated. Residents must supply their own paper products and toiletries. I don't know how this works if you don't have family nearby. The food is only fair, but they have run out of dessert twice just in the last week. How do you run out of strawberry ice cream? As for activities, all I can say is that there are some. They repeat over and over and over every day. Goodness knows when something special will come along. They clean the room and bathroom but will not dust. It's hard to understand that. The extra star is for the friendly staff, always helpful and smiling. It seems to keep the residents smiling too. There are rooms for every kind of activity all over this compact facility, several TV rooms, sitting room, card table, pianos, dining, nurses offices, separate family dining room, courtyard for nice weather, activity room, religious services space and a special room dedicated to veterans where you can sit. Before deciding on coming here think seriously about spending years in a tiny room and eating meals that are not that great.
