He and I both caught Covid there. One of the nurses there had mentioned to me she was just getting over Covid. They sent my husband for dialysis in Deer Park early in the morning but did not pack him a lunch or stay with him. I was going through skin cancer and could not be there. When I got to his room about 4 pm he was still not back and when he did arrive he was soaked in urine as the dialysis facility did not have anyone there to help him to bathroom. He also had sepsis when he got to hospital. He never completely recovered and passed away. Stay away from Sylvan.

It's like they forgot how they got you in there in the first place..... Promises and reeling family members into that SHIT HOLE of a care facility. The don't care once you have signed all the paperwork, the already see dollar signs. My family member was in this place, and she was sick most of the time. No one would come after the call button not even her yelling for help. She laid in her own urine for 6 HOURS, and nobody checked on her until we the family members checked our cameras that we installed and found this out. That same night they dropped her in the shower, and she broke her shoulder. It was all downhill from here. She never really recovered from the fall. even after the fall NO physical therapy. She was in better shape before we had her admitted her into Sylvan Shores. Today we no longer have my family member with us after 2 months and if we would have known that this place would not be taken care of her like they said they would, we would have never put her in this place. And she still would have been with us. If you are thinking about putting your family member in this facility DO NOT!!!!!!! Horrible, Horrible, Horrible. She was transferred…read morehere from the hospital for rehabilitation and respiratory care, and our experience has been wonderful. The entire team - nurses, staff, and support personnel were all amazing. The food was great and the facility is comfortable and well maintained, which made her stay comfortable. In particular, Jessica, Michelle, Maria, Princes and Key xoxo and all the nurse staff provided exceptional care and kindness around the clock care. The physical therapists, Miss Elizabeth and Albert, were outstanding. They gave our mom the encouragement and support she needed to regain strength and independence. While she's taking small steps, we can already see her progress, and we're so grateful for their patience and guidance. We would highly recommend Courtyards at Pasadena to anyone looking for skilled, compassionate rehabilitation care.XOXO

The CNA's were helpful, busy, quick to respond, and easy to talk to. The OT and PT's were friendly, experienced, encouraging and skilled. The kitchen staff served hot, tasty balanced meals and would ask me what I would prefer. I felt more at ease and cared for at this facility than I did at the more expensive and higher rated one I had the previous year. It may be a little bit dated, but it is clean and the employees more than make up for any lack in newness. I especially appreciated how well the employees worked together without complaints, arguments, or gossiping in front of residents. My thanks to Tommy, Gloria, Josaphine, Rosalinda, Maria, Dawn, Walley, Esparanza, Victoria, and many others for their expertise, kindness, encouragement and patience.

Their patience and compassion for their memory challenged residents is wonderful. My mother was moved out of memory care, into their long term care, because she was no longer a flight risk. The care in that section was very good but not as attentive as the long term care area. I was thrilled when Meagan said she wanted to move mother back to the memory care section where she still resides. I enjoy visiting her there because I can take her outside to their covered pavilion where she can enjoy sunshine and fresh air.

We moved her to The Cottages & found a compassionate extended family who loved & cared for her as they would want their loved one to be treated. If you're looking for a facility that is perfect & will never have something "fall through the cracks" you won't find one anywhere. Each place has its flaws, BUT if you're looking for warm, caring people who will do their best to provide loving, compassionate care for your loved one who has memory care issues, take them to The Cottages!
