If you like any pattern inside, she is willing to make a copy for you (and if you buy her yarn at the same time). I think she is pretty good in crocheting as she stocked up some (VERY FINE) crochet yarn with are very elegant and gorgeous. Although the shop is small, but it's always pretty crowded with knitters there. They sit there, chat, and knit. And the store lady is more than happy to teach how to read Japanese patterns as well. She sometimes have some sales on yarn , and she put them in the bins at the entrance. It's a good place to go, as she has new items for every season. I will say that the price is pretty high for the Japanese yarn, if you compare with the European ones, but, Japanese yarn is not cheap, and with their high quality , I think it worths. *the store moved to another location within the same mall. The store is very warm and welcoming. She has a good selection of yarn, some of it sold for less than other stores in the area. And, unlike Serenity Knits, she doesn't charge for help with your knitting/crochet problems, no matter how many times you come in or how long you stay for help. And if she can't fix/solve your problem, it can't be fixed. As more knitters and crocheters discover this oasis in Oak Ridges, Margaret will be able to bring in more and different types of yarn.

I didn't know that there is a pocket of stores tucked away on the south side of Kingston Road. This Michaels looks fairly knew compared to my local one in Markham. I parked practically in front of the main doors and walked in. Normally, I get lost in Michaels. I do well finding areas such as jewellery, yarn, and picture frames. I also managed to find the washrooms, which were clean. The best part is that you hit the women's washroom before the men's, which was a nice change. My true test visiting any Michaels store is to find calligraphy pens. I have the worst time finding such a specific, small section. Guess what? I found the section in a heartbeat. It has a decent selection of calligraphy pens with felt nibs that are like markers, pens with nibs that you dip in ink, and pens that you need to refill with ink. I was happy! I had a good time researching what yarns and simple projects I want to learn to do. It's interesting that I am fine with loom and cork knitting, but give me two knitting needles and I need help!
