My wife was looking for cool stuff to do on our drive down to Florida. She stumbled upon the Red…read moreRiver Gorge area (some underground kayaking to be specific). We researched places to eat in the area, and found Miguel's Pizza. It looked good and had decent reviews. The clincher was my new remote coworker (located a few hours away from this area) who confirmed "oh yeah - ANY time we go down there, we get Miguel's!). After our adventure, we scooted over to Miguel's. It's kinda different, to say the least. Big with the campers. You walk up and order, and they'll bring your pizza to you (place your transponder on the marked mat on the table so they can find you!). While we waited, we got a chance to pet a few dogs that were hanging out with their humans. Always a bonus! It's also a cool place to people-watch. The food was UH-MAZING. We got a couple different kinds of pizzas and they were all fantastic. The sausage was the crumbled kind (versus slices or chunks). WINNER! The pepperoni was tasty. The white sauce with chicken was top notch. You can't go wrong! And the prices were extremely reasonable. We enjoyed our meal so much, we bought another round of pies to throw in the car for the next few meals. SO GOOD!

Want to pet a strangers dog and talk about cool rock formations? YOU'RE IN LUCK! THIS IS THE PLACE. Don't fit in with any groups in life? No need to fret... you'll find someone to connect with here. Is it weird? Absolutely... but that's the most charming part. Then we get to the pizza! It's banging! Is it really THAT good, or is it just because there's not many choices around and I'm starving from being a wilderness adventurer? WHO KNOWS AND WHO CARES!? The pizza is the best for some unknown reason. and I'm here for it! Lastly... bathrooms are kinda gross... but so is EVERYONE in that restaurant from walking trails and climbing rocks for 8 hours. It's the price you pay for a cool place like this. TRY MIGUEL'S! YOU WON'T BE DISAPPOINTED.

I stayed in the Black Bear Lodge…read more.. First, I want to say that I was laying here in bed so freaking relaxed and comfortable that I couldn't bring myself to roll over and get my phone but I wanted to write this review while I am in the moment. This hotel is amazing! It is so freaking cute. I am in love with it. Everything is extremely clean. The bed is so comfortable. The pillows are perfect. It has the cutest little mountainside lodge feel! The air conditioner works perfect. There's a ceiling fan and a fridge. It is perfect! And the price is killer and there is the most adorable little coffee shop bakery/store just down the street and there's a barbecue place right across the street. Tonight I sat out on my balcony and listened to the rain and the frogs and a creature was making funny sounds by the river, and a bat flew by chirping!!! It was perfect! I don't understand how anybody could rate this please anything other than five stars. The only weird little thing was that the light above my bed had to be unplugged from the wall to turn it off. Who the heck cares! That literally does not make this place anything less than still five stars! Get a room here, you will not regret it!!!! Update I slept like a baby! It was raining last night and you could hear the rain on the roof and it was so relaxing. The shower was nice and hot and great water pressure all around an absolutely excellent stay.

We stayed in the Woodpointe Cabin with my cousin and her husband and daughter. The photos on the…read morewebsite painted a much better picture of the cabin. The overall condition of the cabin was poor. There were cosmetic issues with the interior and exterior. The interior work was not done well, the floor is unlevel, the cabinets are not installed correctly and the countertop isn't level and doesn't match up in the seams. The stairs to the lower level are narrow and the first landing area is soft. The bottom floor stays extremely cold and they have space heaters in the rooms to help with the temp. The downstairs bathroom was not constructed well, the light and fan switches are outside the room and the inside, where the switches use to be, behind the door, is covered with a scrap piece of wood. The showers are extremely small and not well lite. All the walls are covered with what looks like wood panels but they don't match up well and the wood trim around the ceiling were not installed correctly. The deck outside was not like the pictures and there are a lot of decking boards that need to be replaced. The cover over the deck wasn't there as in the picture. Also, the septic tank is under the deck and every time someone flushed the toilet it smelled outside. I had an issue with the grill while we were there and called the office with no response.

Lots of beds and very unique carpentry inside and out. All you need to stay and cook if you want to make your own meals. Hot tub for 8 and a fire pit for those hot dog & snores times. We rented the Sky Dancer property for three nights. While the property itself is beautiful, we…read moreexperienced several significant safety concerns that ultimately caused us to leave a day early. Pros: * Great location--close to shops, restaurants and hiking trails, but tucked away enough that it feels private and secluded. * Customer service was very responsive whenever we reached out. * The property is beautifully decorated. The lighting and the cargo nets on the front of the captain's ship were especially fun and a big hit with my son. Cons: Captain's Quarters The Captain's Quarters, which includes the kitchenette and bathroom, is much smaller than it appears in the photos. I would estimate the actual living space to be only about 8-10 feet wide, excluding the bathroom and sleeping loft. While the listing photos accurately show there isn't a couch, it's worth noting that the only seating is a dining table with benches. If the weather keeps you indoors, there really isn't a comfortable place to relax other than sitting on a hard bench or lying on the bed. Ant Problem There appears to be an ongoing ant problem. We noticed ant traps under the sink, which suggests the owners are aware of the issue. Unfortunately, there were ants in the sleeping loft of the Captain's Quarters, and both nights we woke up with ants crawling on us. Safety Concerns Our primary reason for booking this property was the cliffside room, but this is where we encountered our biggest concerns. On our first night, my son noticed that the bedroom door to the cliffside room did not have a lock (see attached photos). I contacted the property the following morning, and they responded quickly, offering us the other cliffside room since it was unoccupied that night. While I appreciated their prompt response, it only partially resolved the issue. The replacement room did have a lock, but it could only be locked from the inside because of the sliding glass door design. As a single woman traveling with a child, I did not feel secure knowing the room could not be locked when we left or adequately secured from outside access. Additionally, access to the cliffside rooms is not truly restricted. The "gate" is essentially just a screen door on a dirt path, with no fencing on either side. Anyone could simply step around it and continue directly to the cliffside cabins. Another serious safety concern was the ladder leading to the Grey Dancer cliffside room. The second-to-last rung on the upper left side appeared to have been completely cut through. It was a clean break that looked as though it had been cut with a saw, making the ladder feel unsafe to use. Because of these issues, we decided to end our vacation a day early. At 11:14 a.m., I notified the property that we were checking out one day ahead of schedule and asked whether a refund for the unused night would be possible. They responded within about 15 minutes, stating they could not issue a refund because their cleaning team had already left. Since standard checkout was at 11:00 a.m. and my request came only 14 minutes later, I was disappointed that there was no flexibility given the circumstances. Overall, while the property is beautiful and the location is excellent, the unresolved safety issues and ant problem outweighed the positives for us. We would not stay here again. If you're considering this property, one of the larger cabins without a cliffside room may be a better option. However, if secure accommodations are important to you, especially when traveling alone or with children, these issues are worth considering before booking.

Lexington's $20 Art Market: Awesome Art for an Awesome Price features unique art for an awesome…read moreprice, all art is $20: no more and no less. The idea behind the market is to provide an opportunity for everyone to own cool art by local artists. The market was co-founded by Keith and Heather Spears. Keith Spears is a local artist known for his industrial-inspired metal sculptures and Heather Spears is known, in a small circle, for hosting fabulous parties. Heather and Keith were inspired by the Umpteenth Annual $20 Art Sale held in Louisville that is organized by Mary Yates and Ron Jasin. After participating in the Umpteenth Annual $20 Art Sale a few times, Keith and Heather decided Lexington needed a similar event. Once the inspiration struck, the challenge was to find a space. We happened to be at Rock House Brewing for a car show and just wandered into Rock House's event space. I realized it would be perfect, talked to the wonderful people who run Rock House then the dream started to become a reality. Of course, it wouldn't happen without the artists. Once we started putting the word out looking for artists, we could not believe the response we received. The art market offers a large variety of art in one space. The first $20 Art Market in November 2017 was a bigger success than anyone, especially Heather, could even imagine. We plan to host the $20 Art Market bi-annually, once in the spring and once in the fall.
