This place was amazing! We came here 2 out of the 3 days we were in red river gorge, one time for beers and the other for lunch. Our beers were unique and even showcased local breweries. Our food was perfect after a long morning hike and were huge portions for the price. Our bartender was so friendly and he even helped us find a better campsite than the one we had originally planned to stay at. Will absolutely be visiting again on our next trip to the gorge! read more

We we're down in Red River Gorge for three nights over spring break and ended up having dinner here all three nights! Skybridge station is conveniently located near Danielle Boone Forest, and our cabin was also on this side of town. We ate outside each night and after dinner, the kids walked across the street to the small ice cream shop to get dessert. The food was great and they had unique Kentucky craft beers on draft. I can't believe no one recommended this spot before my trip to Red River Gorge! We just happened upon it on our way to hike Chimney Top and Princess Arch. We saw it going in and rewarded ourselves coming out! Simple food done very well, and a great beer and cider selection. I had the chili nachos with vegetarian chili, and it was yummy! They had several vegetarian selections, plus burgers and hot dogs. My friend had a basic burger, and she was very happy with it. The whole look of the place was fun and quirky, and the staff were very friendly and knowledgeable about the area. They often have live music on the weekends. I even bought a tshirt. I can't believe nobody recommended this place before we came to here. The gentleman who helped us was so nice and energetic. The food came out fast hot and it was delicious. I got the smokehouse burger and my sister got a chicken quesadilla and the gentleman even brought out two pieces of bacon for my dog. We even bought two T-shirts. that was very cute. This is a cute and lively bar at the Gorge. Unfortunately, the food is NOT good. Way too salty and greasy - no thank you. I don't think I'll be coming back unless it's just for drinks alone and to hang out. I ordered the chili (way too much oil that congealed after a minute), quesadilla and hummus served with a very dry pita bread. My friend ordered a burger, which was apparently a better choice - but I cannot say firsthand. The time I went, the bar was bustling and crowded because it was trivia night. The host kept funneling messages/answers through a bucket that hung from a string on the wall and shuffled back and forth to the upstairs. Cute vibes and all. Finally tried the food this past weekend. The service was extremely friendly and quite fast! The cider was good, and I appreciate the non plastic containers it's served in. The food was delicious. We got a dog and 2 quesadillas to try. The entire ride home we could tell by the smell the food was going to be good. It was quite hot and gave a great flavor. We would definitely come here again! Parking is kind of tricky at night because of the size and layout, and they become quite busy towards the end of the week. There is outdoor and indoor seating. A solid "3" (pretty good/fair/solid) on most points, but a few factors raise it to a "4" for me--great service, fair prices, good hours (a big plus in this area when off season seems to include half of spring and many restaurants are closed 3-4 days a week), location, and bar option with local KY brews. Note--this is over the county line from Slade and such where liquor sales include Sundays and though Sky Bridge seems to want to serve Sunday beers it's now allowed to due to city ordinances. In terms of food--go with a burger or a hot dog, they have a ton of options for both and they do them well. My burger was really good. I would have liked some fries but chips are your only option. My wife was fairly underwhelmed with her chicken quesadilla and I tried a bite (we both agreed it wasn't bad by any means, but something we could quickly make with some flour tortillas, shredded cheese and canned chicken) and told her she should have opted for a burger or dog as that seems to be what they're known for. You can also get a variety of nachos. Seems to be what the doctor ordered if you've been hiking all day and want some solid bar food with a quality draft beer. read more

Drove down to the Red River Gorge to do some sightseeing and hiking, special note, four legged pets are not allowed on hiking trails except for one. Had heard about Sky Station, so we gave it a try. We were very impressed with the food and atmosphere. Picnic tables outside which was great for us and our pitman Zale. My wife had the chili dog and I had the Steakhouse burger. Both were very good. After a glorious morning of kayaking, our tour guide highly recommended Sky Bridge Station for lunch (or dinner). We had seen it on Yelp prior to our trip and had it on our "places to possibly eat list", but we always love hearing local recommendations. My wife and I arrived as they opened at Noon. The atmosphere is so inviting, fun, and clean. This local gem would hold its own in any major city! I had the Epic Journey Burger and chips. The burger was beautifully seasoned and hand a perfect char. Hands down - one of my top 5 burgers EVER! The toppings all complimented the burger and the chipotle mayo added the perfect touch. My wife had the Steakhouse Burger (she left off the bell and banana peppers - thanks acid reflux) which was also fantastic. We also ordered the Aztec quesadilla to share. This was so hearty, flavorful, and had a nice kick with the jalapeños. To wash our meal down, we both enjoyed local soda flavors. They had a fantastic local beer selection, darts, games, and an area for live music. I can only imagine how much fun Sky Bridge Station much be on a Friday or Saturday night. This was our favorite meal during our weekend in Kentucky and would return many times over. read more

One of my favorite stops in RRG. Some of our non-yelper friends suggested this place and I'm sure glad they did! Excellent choice for some delicious hot dogs, cheap prices and friendly hospitality. From Cincinnati, so I had to order the chili cheese dog. Absolutely amazing. This is something I crave and will continue to crave. The chili is not like "Cincinnati style" but full of delicious beans and tomatoes. Everything down to the bun was delicious. Even the chips were super fresh. Hubs ordered the barbecue hotdog and his sentiment was the same- absolutely delicious. Especially paired with a local cherry Ale 8. The space is the coolest, full of hiking gear, RRG T-shirt's and a few local artisan items like soap and ceramic mugs. The water on the tables is just so perfect and the large barrels + tree trunks really solidify the decor. There's trivia nights and live bands, a spacious enough downstairs and upstairs seating. I stopped there with my family after a couple of hours spent at the Red River Gorge park. As we were waiting for our take out food the owner started a conversation with one of my daughters and baby. After he learned we had travelled from MA to KY for a family emergency which resulted in my ex husband dying, he decided to refund all our meals. We were extremely thankful for his generosity and kindness and enjoyed the delicious sandwiches on our journey back. Passing through on a drive from Pikeville back to Lexington. I'd been wanting to try this place, and I finally got an opportunity. These are my thoughts: We tried the Epic Journey hot dog, cole slaw, chili, and the Aztec quesadilla. Both the Epic Journey and Aztec come with jalapeños, and they don't hold back, which I was appreciative of. They aren't afraid of heat here. Both are tasty and both I'd recommend. The quesadilla is huge, and the Epic Journey, while disappointingly diminutive, is uniquely original. That said, for some reason, they only included five potato chips with the dog. Look, I don't care if you include them or don't, but either be all in or nothing here. I mean, they were Ruffles. Not truffles. Five? Really? I'd pass on the cole slaw. Nothing special there. Somewhat bland, to be honest. The chili, however, is quite good and at four dollars for a bowl, is probably your best value here. Service is quite slow to at times, sometimes even nonexistent. Go in knowing that they don't apparently have a lot of incentive to check on anything. We asked for more crackers for the chili and it never came. When I went up to the counter, they were left sitting there. I wouldn't describe the employees as aloof, but distant in a friendly way might be more spot on. Seems odd in a restaurant which is so tiny. The place isn't locally owned, but hipster owned and operated. Leave your GOP membership card at the door. Prices aren't unreasonable, but you have the hipster up charge. Also, keep in mind it's dog friendly. I don't like dogs around my food, so that made eating outside on the porch impossible. I don't understand why you people have to take your dogs everywhere with you. Leave them at home. But I digress. The food is flavorful. I'd go back. It's a great place to stop after visiting the Gorge. Even with some of the shortcomings, remember there aren't a ton of options in the area. This is a good option. read more

The Country Boy orange cider is crisp and refreshing- excellent choice for summer sipping. The sour was citrus with a mild sourness, another excellent choice. Only concern is the is a sharp unsupervised axe on the porch that begs a to question why??? Even for burgers and hot dogs and quesadillas and such, which can be great if done well...everything our group of six had tasted like public school cafeteria food. Used to be a Miguel's stan but this has been our go to in the gorge for the last few years for an après hike snack and brew. Staff is always friendly and welcoming and food comes out quick. The inside has super cute cabin vibes and the porch is the spot to prop your legs up after a good hike before heading home. Haven't tried the burgers but the hotdogs are always good and the chili is so good. Love that they have local beers on tap and a small but good bourbon selection to sip by the fireplace in the winter. What REALLY blew me away was what happened a few days later. I realized I lost my car key, and called the restaurant on the chance it might have dropped it while there. They had my key, and since i live outside the local area, they offered to mail them to me, and I received them promptly two days later. Not what I was expecting. The place is very small and the staff is relatively friendly. It was extremely limited in it options and I'd attribute that to the fact that only 2 people work There. They do to credit cards by the way. So let's get to the food. I order a chili cheese dog and it came with like 10 chips. It was $7! A total rip off. The chili had freaking beans in it which is a no no. The bun was a little burnt so I'm some places my meal was crunchy which ruined the experience. My coworker also got this is said he was still starving after eating there. Which is obviously a bad deal. And it's not fair for a customer to pay that much and get stuff that isn't all that great. My coworker said his was awful and that he'd never go back. I wouldn't go that far but it was a pretty rough. It would not be my suggestion to eat here.
