To be blunt, our experience and the lack of billing transparency at Serenity Spa was a disaster. My friend signed up for the Serenity Signature Package for $320 - which included a Signature Facial and the Aromatherapy Massage. Before my friend was going to receive the facial, she was pressured multiple times by the esthetician that she could upgrade to the Pumpkin Peel Facial for an extra $80, to which she agreed to. All of this should have resulted in a $400 dollar charge and a 10% tip for a $440 charge. Somehow Serenity Spa ended up charging her $564.  After explaining the overcharges, the front desk receptionist assured me there were no overcharges. Then after looking further, after intense prompting, she admitted there was a $60 overcharge - she couldn't explain how she came to this number, which was still wrong. After insisting this was the only overcharge, the receptionist refused to address the remaining $60 overcharge and hung up the phone after accusing us of lying, which was incredibly unprofessional and irritating as my friend is an incredibly accomplished and pure hearted person. I'm not at all surprised at the litany of negative reviews about Serenity Spa and I would encourage everyone to steer clear of this place and their questionable, at best, transparency and billing practices. read more

Steve Smith, the PT who worked on my neck and shoulders, was the best and most highly educated masseuse I've ever had. And for $160 for a 50min massage was way better than anything I've received at Burke Williams, which charges over $200 before tax+tip). I'm like I would def go back as long as he's my masseuse. He was a PT for over a decade and I can tell based on how he knew where the knots were and how to knead them. I've also gotten cheap massages before that give me terrible headaches and I think sometimes it's because they're not well trained so in a way don't know what they're doing. I am very careful now going to those places because it's not worth it. But anyway, I would love to see him again if I'm ever in the area! I felt so much relief! read more

My wife and I scheduled and paid for deep tissue massages. We both get massages regularly and are very familiar with what a true deep tissue massage feels like. Unfortunately, this was not it. During the session, my wife politely asked twice for deeper pressure, and the therapist did not meaningfully adjust. At the end of the massage, when my wife calmly explained that the service provided did not meet the level of deep tissue we paid for and that she was still willing to pay the staff chose to argue with her rather than listen. What made the situation worse was that the therapist was brought to the checkout desk to continue the discussion in front of others, turning an already uncomfortable moment into something awkward and unprofessional. There was no effort to resolve the issue, no acknowledgment of her feedback, and no customer-service mindset. To top it off, a mandatory 20% gratuity was applied despite the service not matching what was advertised or requested. We still paid the gratuity, but the experience left a very bad impression. Massages are supposed to be relaxing. This was anything but. We will not be returning and would not recommend this place to anyone seeking a genuine deep tissue massage or professional customer service. read more

This review is for the location located near the street in the Heavenly Shops area. It's important to set your expectations and know what you are getting for $190 (in my case-deep tissue). This was NOT a deep tissue massage and was nowhere near worth $190. The massage I received was like something you'd get at your local strip mall and pay $60 for. There's no spa music, table and room were cold, my "50 minute" massage started at 2:04 and ended at 2:50. My massage therapist clearly had no idea how to do a proper massage, let alone deep tissue. I have had 100's of massages in my life and this was by far one of the worst. I wanted to end the massage after about 15 minutes in. The final fun part was checking out and being told they "normally" include an automatic 20% tip! This was after I expressed my dissatisfaction with my massage. Sadly, I did not feel it appropriate to leave a tip for this horrible experience. Highly recommend looking elsewhere for a massage. This is not worth your money. read more

Omg! I am so disappointed with the customer service, as I was looking forward to my massage. The welcoming was awful. The greeting associate did not show me to the locker room or to where the sauna was -- she only pointed to the door. Then she said, "Would you like a robe and sandals?" Of course, I said "Yes," because that's normally what you do, right! However, I didn't get a chance to change because the masseuse took me to the room immediately after. On our way to the room -- the shower glass door was wide open and it was blocking the hallway, and also in the middle of the hallway was a yellow commercial bucket. There was no serenity to my massage whatsoever because of the cleaning lady scrubbing the floor the entire time I was having my massage -- the noise was absolutely annoying. I mentioned it to the masseuse and she went out of the room, but I'm not sure what happened because the noise continued. I also mentioned it to the front desk associate. She said it was the resort's responsibility, not theirs, but she was going to let the manager know. That felt like she was just brushing it off instead of actually trying to fix the issue. This experience was not worth the $200.00. I hope it makes it back to the manager. This was my first time at this spa, and unfortunately, it left a really bad impression. I didn't even get to enjoy any of the amenities like the sauna or relax in a robe -- which is part of the whole spa experience, because of how disorganized and rushed everything felt. I ended up leaving right after the massage. The whole experience was just not worth the $200.00. I hope this makes it to the manager. read more

Scheduled a last minute deep tissue massage. Haven't had one in too long. I rock climb and trail run often. Steven was incredible. He knows how to focus on trigger points, which is painful but necessary. I was reminded of how important those treatments are. Thanks to Steven I feel like a new person. I had the best Swedish massage of my life here this past Monday! It honestly made me question other Swedish massages I've had because her technique was so good and different - definitely haven't had it like that before. I think her name is Cendra or Kelly (I'm sorry for not remembering!!) I asked for a little more pressure and she got it just right. I know she is a good massage therapist because I have tough problem areas in my neck, shoulders and back that I've had for years, and most people shy away from it - she however went full on into them and tried to resolve all of them, all the force it took! lol! So good! So amazing! The room, music and air was just right, AND the massage beds have a heating pad that they turn on beforehand - what?! Such a game changer! She also didn't use excessive massage oil - usually I feel so greasy after leaving a massage place and have to scrub hard, haha after this one I didn't have to. You can also tell that the quality of oil is just better, it just felt and smelled better. They give you plenty of time to undress and get dressed at the end. I didn't feel rushed at all. They also have a huge bathroom and a waiting room with a fireplace where you can relax for a bit. Important / Safety: They have you sign a waiver when you check in, for COVID and general health issues you might have. All of the staff were wearing masks, and they give you an option to wear your mask when you are face up towards the end, which isn't really necessary since your face is covered with a cloth then, so I opted out. They also space reservations out so you're not waiting around with other people - we were the only people there when we went, then there was someone waiting while we were checking out. I highly recommend coming here if you visit! They have a CBD massage that I want to try next time. Perk: You also get a discount from their shop where they sell a variety of things for both home (yoga, zen decor) and personal use (jewelry, bath products, etc.) So good! So worth it! read more

My opinion of this spa is very moderate. The facial was pretty okay. Meera was the one who was scheduled to do my facial. She came 10 minutes late to my treatment. She was nice and all but I would never go back to her. She might have actually been over 10 minutes late and AND CUT my facial short. She didn't even follow through the whole treatment??? She skipped through processes too. Hopefully you guys in advance ask who is doing your facial. Like come on they told me to be there ten minutes early which i did, but then she gets to be ten minutes late?? does that even make sense?!?!?!? My partner and I both had facials with Meera yesterday. she is AMAZING. she is friendly and knowledgeable and so warm and engaging. She was very helpful with recommending the right treatments for my skin and my face looked and felt so much better and younger after. she helped me with a realistic skin care routine that works for me. she was so wonderful and amazing that we both booked another facial with her today! The exfoliation treatment is a "Meeracle" treatment and I am very impressed! A wonderful experience all around and a wonderful person. Definitely recommend. Great for men as well! read more

Very disorganized. Did not supply a confirmation for our reservation. Did not supply robes to move between rooms for different services. Had to re dress three times and by that time we were tired of doing that to even bother with the sauna. Was charged for services we did not receive and when I tried privately messaging them it was ignored. It is however a beautiful space and my massage therapist was excellent. Did not care for their esthetician as she seemed to keep trying to upsell me on additional products and services so it was not very relaxing. The cream used during the facial gave me an allergic reaction that took a week to go away. I feel it is way over priced for what they offer and will not be returning. I have truly never had something like this happen before, and it makes me genuinely disheartened and sad that I have to even write this review... I booked several massages for me and girlfriends at Serenity Spa for a girl's weekend. Over a week before the massage appointment, we had to cancel. I called Serenity Spa and they said no problem, and said that they would cancel my reservation. Well, a week later, I get a charge for $870.00 on my credit card. Thinking this was a mistake on their end, I call Serenity Spa and explain that I was wrongfully charged, and they admit to the wrongdoing and say they will reverse the charge. I expected that that would be the end of the story. Well a few weeks go by, and the charge has still not been refunded. I call them back, asking what's up, and they start saying that they'd like to refund me but they need a manager's approval to do so. And they say the manager isn't here right now and I should call back another day. So I call back another day. And another day. And another day. And each time the manager isn't there! Each time, they supposedly leave notes for the manager to contact me, and each time I've left thinking that something's going to be done and it's not. I think it is just morally wrong for a company (one that claims it's a relaxing spa, ironically) to steal, and after months of this, I don't believe Serenity Spa has any intention of refunding me. I'm hoping that they see this review and correct their mistake before I have to take legal action to recoup my losses. Overall, I'm just very sad about all this. What was supposed to be a relaxing weekend with my girlfriends has now turned into a massive headache, and I wish I never would have even called Serenity Spa in the first place. I also hope that if you consider giving your business to Serenity, you decide to choose one of the other spa and massage providers in Tahoe. There are many, and unlike Serenity, they probably don't steal from their customers. read more

We did not like getting withheld pricing information by the desk clerk or their advertisement sign saying that couples massage was $240. We assume it was a flat $240 and we asked if we could customize before hand; he said we can but he did not mention we would be charged for customizing it. Meaning, he and did not inform of the added charges that were tact on. A fair solution would be changing the sign saying the "couples message starts at $240" The session was good but clarity was very poor.
