I had been going to the same salon on the other side of town since before the pandemic, but decided to start looking for an alternative. I came across Studio 152nd after a quick search and after seeing they were open on my day off (my previous salon hadn't been, so I'd have to either arrive late to work or leave early because of the bridge closure), I wanted to get some more info. Tricia called me back and we were able to get something booked with a wonderful stylist called Julie. Julie was fantastic and gave one of the best and most exfoliating head massages I have ever received. It was worth the price for that alone - and that price is more than reasonable, my friends! The price of having my roots done and getting a quick trim was seriously like HALF of what I had been paying previously. Regarding Trish, the owner/stylist I work in the non-profit fundraising field (most of my career) and I work with people who are less fortunate. I thought long and hard about entering this review-because I really do believe in the best in people. I moved up here from California and looked for a salon that uses Goldwell or Wella. My nationality is Japanese and Black and my hair is fine, so I use products that may be more expensive but that I trust. I've been seeing Trish for a year or so. Once I let her know that I was going on vacation to Marthas Vineyard (my sister offered, a once in a life time trip) I made an appt to get my highlights touched up - and my family noticed that the touch up was a different color (brownish) I liked Trish and wanted to give her the benefit of the doubt (that she used my regular toner) so I gave her extra money to pre-purchase my color for future use (around $90.00). 3 days ago I went to get highlights with a root touch up - and now my hair is brown with brown highlights. I dont have any gold highlights AT ALL (MY USUAL COLOR). I got upset after my hair was dried and she said maybe the color oxidized. I asked another stylist her opinion - and she said THAT COULDNT BE TRUE. Please note, I care for two children (ages 3 and 4) and getting babysitting isn't easy. So, for me to have the appointment was a big deal for me. But now that I think about it, Trish has increasingly gotten mean, really abrupt when I try to make small talk. I remember one time I was at Studio 152 and her being cordial to other clients but basically shunning me. But what was I gonna do, I was in her chair. I just thought she was just having a bad day. Obviously, I will not be coming back to her again!! I HATE MY HAIR COLOR and have to wait to get it re-done because I dont want to damage it!! I TRUSTED TRISH AND SHE INTENTIONALLY COLORED MY HAIR WRONG. HOW DO I KNW?? BECAUSE SHE DID IT ONCE BEFORE. For her to be so bold and do this, says a lot about her professionalism. For her, it wasn't a mistake. I'm sure she is good to other clients, but this is the experience I had with her. If you feel a negative vibe from her, I WOULDNT TRUST her to do your hair. If I have breakage because the wrong product (not Goldwell) was used on my hair, then I will take it further. I hope this is helpful for other people. I was looking for a new hair stylist since my stylist of about 4-5 years moved and i didnt want to drive that far. I am really particular about the way people cut my hair. Since Studio 152 is super close to my work and had good reviews i decided to give it a try. Tricia was super nice and i had two pictures to show her what i wanted. After she was done, i wasnt too thrilled with the results but decided not to get too upset and wait till i can restyle it at home the way i usually do. I am going to attach pics before, what i showed her and the final result and you can do the judgement. This week im going to go to the salon my stylist used to work and see if someone can fix it. I was honestly a little sketched out because she was so fast, while my highlights were setting she worked on 3 or 4 people, but they all looked great and so did mine. I just got extensions put on from Tricia at Studio 152 in Burien. It took about 2.5 hours. I have just above shoulder hair and went 16 inches, now down to middle of my back. I love it! I haven't had long hair for about 30 years. What a difference in changing your attitude. Tricia was very helpful in explaining the whole process and made it a fun experience in her chair for 2 1/2 hours. Anyone looking to have extensions put in see her, she is good. Not much to say except that I go see Annette and she does an all over color on my hair about every 6 weeks or so, she does a good job, it is easy to make appts, she isn't booked out crazy far in advance like some places. We always have easy conversations while I am in the chair and she is a pleasure to work with. They do not take cards there, just cash or check so keep that in mind, but otherwise I would definitely recommend. read more

You must know that I have struggled with my thick, wavy easily fuzzy hair all my life until I met Trisha 7 years ago. I had a style and color I liked but she has taken it and made it where I get compliments on my hair all the time even when I am just about to get my hair cut and colored again three months later. Who has a hairdresser like that? What makes Trisha unique is she knows her stuff, doesn't push product and works with what you want. She guides you rather than simply cut and color. I'm in from out of town and found myself with a few hours to spare. I sent an email via the contact link and Tricia got right back to me. She worked with my schedule and was able to fit me in. As said by some of the other posters, Tricia works REALLY fast, which I love. I've spent way too much time in the highlighting chair in the past! Tricia gave me a full 2-color highlight and cut in under 1.5 hours. Awesome! While I was there, I learned that Shawna (sp?) does Tricia's hair, which looks awesome. So I'd recommend either Tricia or Shawna. Price was totally reasonable: $85 for full highlights and $35 for a cut. NOTE: they only accept cash or check. I cheated on my stylist and tried this place out because I hadn't been able to get into my guy for a while and came across Tricia's Living Social deal. It was a mistake. It wasn't so terrible that I need to wear a hat or anything but I definitely didn't get what I asked for. I came in with a picture of the cut I wanted which Tricia looked at once quickly and then apparantly promptly forgot. The first step was getting my foil wrapped and I told her I wanted it chunky. In fact, I told her I wanted it chunkier than the picture I brought in. She also promptly forgot that and wrapped my hair in fine sections. Even finer than the photo. Ugh. Then, she left me to process for an hour while she did two haircuts. I was not getting high lift color. Wella Professional hair color does not need more than 30 minutes to develop unless you're doing a high lift blonde. Ugh again. When she finally shampooed me, she used super cologne-y products and it triggered a wicked migraine. Not her fault that I get migraines but things were going from bad to worse pretty quickly for me. We finally get to the haircut and rather than taking the 1/2" off the length and then doing long layers as we discussed and per the picture I brought, she wound up taking off closer to 2" in the back (because she kept recutting) and much, much more around the face where she just kept cutting and cutting until it was nothing at all like the picture and super unflattering on my chubby face. Nobody wants to frame a fat face, Tricia! When she was cutting my bangs and blending those into all the superfluous tapering, I finally brought the picture back up on my phone to show her and told her that I didn't want the bangs blended into the sides, I want them straight across. She pointed to the picture and said, "Well, that's blended." NO IT WAS NOT! What the heck?! Maybe she needed glasses that she wasn't wearing...I'm not sure what even happened there but this was one area where I was not going to back down. Bangs are important. We finally got my bangs cut closer to how I wanted them but I still have all of these short pieces framing my face all the way from the corners of my eyes down and the hair color is in fine stripes, exactly how I didn't want it. Super annoying experience with a long grow out process ahead of me to get rid of all this tapering around my face. Not to mention, I'm still going to have to go with my head between my legs back to my guy to get the color fixed. I guess I needed a punishment like this to remind myself why I shouldn't cheat on my stylist. read more

What a gem! I had a living social deal for a foil and haircut with Tricia, my first visit ever to Studio 152nd. It was just before the holidays, but she fit me in right away. I had to bring my 2-year old with me. The ladies there were so gracious about him being there--even had toys for him to play with! And Tricia is amazing! She was unbelievably quick, both with putting in the foils and with cutting my hair--so fast that I was worried how it was going to turn out. I need not have worried. The color was the best I've had in years, very natural looking. The cut looked really great too and I had more compliments on my hair over the next few weeks than I had had in years. My first experience with this place was very frustrating because I got the answering machine every single time I called but once. I have probably called this place about 7 times to ask questions and attempt to make the apt. It continued when my friend and I went to get our hair done. When we walked in the front door we noticed that the studio had a very unpleasant odor. Not the typical chemical smell but like the bathroom had backed up. Also the stylist demanded that I help her do her job while she did my hair and hand her foils. Not my usual procedure when getting my hair done. The conversation we did have seemed forced although it was very minimal. I love the area but the experience was not that enjoyable for either of us. read more

Tricia is really great. I had my first appointment with her today and couldn't be happier. I hadn't been able to make it into a salon in seven months and had started to bottle dye my hair. I had color banding, a lot of breakage and really needed a hair cut. I haven't found "my" salon yet since I moved to Burien a few years ago and looked up salons on yelp. Tricia and 152nd Salon were so highly recommended I thought I would give it a try and I am so glad I did! I had a full foil and haircut. Tricia was SO FAST, I was out of there in two hours, fully styled and feeling great (and I have long hair, down my back). I left there with all my color banding and color issues corrected. With a hair cut and a little biosilk, my hair was SO soft and looks healthy again. I was amazed. She's super awesome, I booked out my next appointment already. (I had been an Aveda girl up on Capitol Hill, but it is too far to drive and was breaking the bank. Tricia did a much better job than my last two Aveda appointments and was very reasonable.) I almost don't want to write the review because I don't want her to be so busy I can't get in :), but good work deserves praise for sure! read more

My disabled/elderly mother and I were not greeted very friendly by this Salon. Because of its convenient location we decided to give the salon a chance. Another stylist, (not the unfriendly one) actually cut my moms hair very nicely. We went back twice and when I called to make an appointment we never heard back. I called a second time, knowing these things happen. What is most awkward is that we frequent the Farmers Market and actually walk by this salon on our way and can see our stylist through the window. We know she still works there and is fine. Basically, it was sad not to hear back. My final call was to express that we got the "message" and that if we didn't hear back, (not likely) we would assume it was because the stylist was no longer interested in our business. It's a mystery to us and it's unclear if this salon discriminates or not. So beware! Especially if you are elderly and disabled. read more
