As I write this I give thanks to Saint Eligius-the patron saint of mechanics and pray that he watches over Sergio's shop, his family and his customers. Loaded to the sideboards my daughter Hannah and I set off for Bridgeport Ca, (eastern sierras) last Saturday. My normally smooth running 2014 Jeep Wrangler 3.6 l v6 suddenly developed a serious issue. Pulling over to O'Reilly's in Oakdale as soon as the engine light started flashing resulted in me finding out that I had a cylinder 6 misfire and no local mechanics able to take a look. I noticed in Modesto Sergio's shop with 4.9 stars and called. He was able to fit me in. We limped in to Modesto where we found his shop. Walking through the graveyard of trucks was not encouraging but Sergio's son was...He re-assured us that his dad and uncle would fix everything. Thus began a 4.5 hour adventure of getting back on the road. Our experience at Sergio's involved his (and his brother's) methodical diagnostic process. At every stage we were informed about the procedure and their findings. It was a 97 degree day but cool in the air conditioned office where Sergio's family brought us water and assured us all would be well. The troubleshooting, test driving and removals (many times) of the manifold resulted in Sergio's methodical diagnostic. (I was a mechanic for 4 years I know)...New NGK spark plugs, ignition coils and even prayers to the Virgin of Guadalupe resulted in our Jeep leaving in tip top shape. Hannah and I spent the next three days driving over the 26% grade of Sonora Pass, 4 wheeling to Bodie and returning. The Jeep has never run better (153,438 miles). It is currently getting better mileage than it ever has (20.2) and climbing hills more efficiently. I only wish we didn't live in San Jose. Sergio's family Car Service and Junkyard is a place of integrity, hard work, honesty and caring. They want nothing more than for you to trust them to fix your car the best it can be fixed. I called on a last minute right before the fourth of July after a quick google search. The shop is close by so I called and asked if he could install a side mirror for me and that I already had the part. After he told me the price I asked when should I make the appointment for. He told me he can do it now if I'd like. Which was perfect. I was there for 30 minutes and was on my way with a new installed side view mirror and the electrical system on the mirror worked as well. Will definitely take future repairs for my vehicles to his shop. read more

Very disappointed , i used to be loyal to this mechanic but my last visit made me not want to go again , i came in to fix my ac service and well my car needed a new compressor, so he installed a new one but after the second day my ac failed again, i took it again and he said he didn't find no leaks and put freon again for it to fail again!! After 2 days , so i went and took it somewhere else and they took the time to look for the leak and they replaced a new hose that sergio failed to install since it's recommended to replace every part attached to the compressor for it to work properly , if you want a great service its better to go somewhere else that is more expert in air conditioning save yourself the headache read more

My mom and I took our Lexus IS 250 originally to get the brake pads replaced. However, after Sergio assessed the condition of the brake pads and rotors, he recommended that we replace both. He was very well spoken and knowledgeable . He was also very attentive and answered all our questions and concerns. To add on, Sergio also got my mom a great deal on both brake pads (Front and rear) and rotors. From the beginning he was honest with us regarding the cost of the parts and his labor. Once he set the price, he honored it. I will say he is man of his word. If somebody is looking for a honest hard working mechanic that cares about your safety and budget, I highly recommend him.
