Though I think Rebecca is charming and has great style, I definitely think that she is limited with what she can offer. After perusing her blog, I realize that she pretty much has one style, and though I tried to steer from her color palette, I've ended up with, well her color palette. If you are hopeless in decorating for yourself and want someone to put a sparse, simple room together, Rebecca is great. If you're someone who enjoys layers and textures, Rebecca might not be the best designer for you. My experience was also frustrating at times: While reminding me that her time was valuable (I agree), I felt that we wasted a lot of time because of missed appointments and scheduling conflicts that included Rebecca leaving town for a month and leaving the loose ends, well, loose. My house is still half-done, as there wasn't a lot of follow-through with the custom furniture and such. I still don't have a clear plan for rugs (she suggested a few, then said that perhaps she didn't like them, but didn't give me other clear options) and the upholsterer she recommended (and had me drive all the way up to Lynnwood to go through fabrics with) has had my chairs for 4 months, even though they specifically made me wait until my fabric was in for me to bring my chairs to them. (I still don't have the chairs!) The other disappointment is that Rebecca was made well aware of the fact that we are a family with three children and I was referred to her by a home organizer. I requested places for coats, shoes, and backpacks, and all she added into the design was one small square storage ottoman that would barely fit one backpack or a few pairs of shoes. It was an issue I continued to bring up, but she kept wanting to charge me for more time, even though she overlooked this clear request repeatedly, so I gave up and am having to make my own changes to her design to accommodate this. Again, Rebecca is a lovely person and I think for people with no ability to decorate a room, she would be great at helping you pull together a simple room with grays and an accent color. read more

5 more stars for Rivalee! Up till now we'd been cobbling together design elements for our big, modern and somewhat confounding-to-decorate house. We hired Rebecca for a 2 hour DIY consult. Everything everyone else says is true, and what I can add is that the best effect of our interview with her (mostly you ask questions and she gives answers) is that now we have a clear vision and plan for our home. I can blast through stores with tons of inventory - Seattle Lighting, Kasala, big carpet stores - in 10 or 15 minutes and make totally confident right choices instead of perseverating for half an afternoon. The other thing was that she really listened to us -- picked up on the fact that we like natural elements but want an overall modern and clean look to go with the big angular spaces in our house -- and very naturally wove this preference into her recommendations. Here comes a fine distinction: many consultants will pick up on THE ONE THING and use it like a hammer to pound everything they now see as a nail and think this is honoring the client's preference (or maybe really just making a display of how listen-y they are - "see how I heard you?"). By contrast Rebecca worked our desires into a plan organically and appropriately, never forcing square pegs. This is long overdue, but now I can pretty much say - all the other wonderful reviews are true. We are totally DIY on our house, and had gotten stuck on paint colors. Rebecca to the rescue! Rebecca works with the business who painted our house (Phinney Ridge Painting). She helped us choose the colors - we already knew which ones we wanted, but not the specific shades. I was skeptical that I would need help....that is, until I saw all the different shades of EVERY color available and how different they really are from each other. I contacted Rebecca for some help with colors for our new home. The response I received from her assistant Leah was that since we live in Woodinville that we were outside of her area and I needed to find someone closer to me. Apparently she only serves customers within 10 miles of Green Lake - at least that's what her assistant Leah told me. I would have been happy to travel to her with my house plans as Woodinville is not that far away from Green Lake, but that was not an option I was given, by Leah. I will definitely look for someone else to help me (as Leah suggested) and would suggest you do the same - unless you live within 10 miles of Green Lake of course. read more

This is long overdue but I went with the full work up with designer Angela- WONDERFUL!! I was at first hesitant to spend so much money but decided I would never move forward with my remodel if left on my own (and I was right). Angela was completely awesome! She listened to my wishes and had easy choices for me to make which I appreciated greatly (after working long hours, I can't make any more decisions). Her plan was thorough and had the exact links of what to buy. She even recommended the contractor I'm working with (so far he's been awesome too). Months later, I had to ask for her advice which she gave promptly even though our sessions were technically done. After months of going back and forth with design ideas for our first floor, realizing interior design just isn't my skill set so we needed help - but wanting to stay on a tighter budget, I found Seriously Happy Homes and signed up for the Quick Action session. My husband was VERY skeptical that she would be able to answer all our questions in 90 minutes and that she wouldn't try to waste tons of time "learning our style" and then use the session as a hook to do a more expensive Collab or The Works. Halfway through the session he stopped us just to note that he was "very impressed" and that it had already gone above and beyond his expectations. Of course Rebecca spent some time getting a sense of what we liked and our vision but then....! We covered kitchen lighting, makeover of dining and living room, hallway, stairwell, upstairs bathroom, how to possibly arrange furniture in our slightly awkward master bedroom then, with 10 minutes left we just added a downstairs bathroom/back entry way with some great ideas! I really needed her to be able to say "yes do this" "no don't do that'" or - "here are two layouts/color schemes, pick one" and she did. For specific furniture or lighting - she gave some examples but really highlighted what it was about them that worked so we could shop around/price compare without worrying it the other item would look just as good. I highly recommend video taping the session as well - we took some notes but it let us cover more ground to not have to stop and write everything down. This session saved us DAYS of trying to come up with a design scheme. I was close to what paint colors I wanted, and had done a lot of homework. However, when it came to finalizing that nice palate of neutrals, I felt a little stuck. Paint store people are helpful, but I really needed someone to come to my house and give feedback. Our house has big windows but doesn't get a lot of great natural light, especially in winter - everything looks cold and drab. Plus, our newly refinished hardwood floors came out beautiful, but were a bit tricky to match. And, we had some beautiful "lifetime" pieces of furniture that we wanted to honor. It was great to have Sarah Ellen out for a color consult, and we had time to toss around a few other design ideas as well - window treatments, where to get light fixtures, etc. She knows the colors well and was able to quickly help me figure out which were the best and WHY. I learned a lot. I'd love to have a fully designed professional remodel, but that's just not in our budget! The 90 minute power consult was a great service that really helped my DIY process along. After having a very negative and expensive experience with a designer I found on Houz, I was pretty leery about working with another one. But the reviews of Rebecca and Seriously Happy Homes were so positive, and I loved that she provided a 90-minute session to answer random questions. I needed help picking paint colors, but I had a much longer list, just in case we had time. We got through everything with time to spare, and her advice was real and practical, and as one other reviewer said, she didn't immediately want to re-do everything in the house (like previous designer). I haven't had time to implement the list yet, but we picked one of the paint combinations she recommended and my husband even liked them (we usually disagree about all paint colors). I now have a realistic plan and it doesn't include a total re-do. I just read in one of the other reviews that Rebecca has a book out and when I finish this review, I plan to look it up on Amazon. We showed Rebecca a few examples of things we liked and she helped us pick out wall colors, suggested the furniture layout and told us which pieces would work best in which places. Within the 90 minutes we also got to talk about the exterior paint colors we were thinking about (she suggested some and even gave us the exact code numbers so we can just go to a store and pick those out) and ideas for outdoor furniture. We were impressed with how much we accomplished in 90 minutes and how much Rebecca was willing to help us achieve our vision, even when it was not necessarily what she would have done herself.
