We hired Rebecca to help us redesign and select furniture our boring and drab family room. We were really happy with both the process and the result! Rebecca was so easy to work with, and I loved the process she developed for asking us about our desires for the room, the strategy to have both my husband and me find a list of 10 living rooms on Houzz that we liked to get a sense of our style, and the output of the design, which was a floor plan, a mood board, and a detailed list of the items, their price, and where to get them. Rebecca was also awesome to work with for follow up - some of the items were out of stock so we worked with her over email to find alternatives. Once we got everything in place in the family room, we were really happy with the overall look! Finally, about 2 years after she redesigned our living room, we decided we weren't really happy with having a wool rug in the living room due to shedding and our young children. She was so helpful in helping us find a new replacement that fit within the existing scheme. I offered to pay her for her extra work on that follow up, but she declined saying that she was happy to help. Such a wonderful person who really cares about her clients and her work. Having never worked with a designer before, my husband and I interviewed 2 designers to redesign our classic beige 1979 kitchen and master bathroom. We were impressed with Rebecca's straightforwardness as well as her initial ideas. She is positive and fun, and a pleasure to talk to and work with; but more importantly, she nailed our style and gave us a beautiful design to run with. This is not to be confused with us simply having the same style as Rebecca - she does not design in a vacuum. She requires input from you as a starting point and goes from there - and further input is necessary to get the design just right for you. We are in the finishing stages of our kitchen and are thrilled with the results. Rebecca gave us the plan for a beautiful space that also functions wonderfully. I love being in my kitchen now. One of the biggest advantages to working with a great designer is, Rebecca saved us literally countless hours shopping and researching products, and trying to evaluate whether this tile goes with this countertop, and the other hundreds of choices and options available to us - and then (especially for me) second guessing those choices afterwards. It is mind boggling how many products go into a kitchen (and thus, how many things need to be picked out and coordinated!). It was worth every penny getting all of our products selected and decided in just a few weeks and feeling confident that everything looked fabulous together. I can't even say how much this sped up our process. Additionally, we didn't feel dumped once we had our design and were left to implement it. Rebecca was responsive to questions that inevitably pop up once construction starts, even though it was months after she had given us our design. Rebecca's input was so valuable, we had her back when our kitchen was near completion to help us select furnishings for our sitting area and give us some guidance on our bedroom so that they can look as good as our other new spaces! When we get ready to tackle our downstairs nightmare, we will most certainly look for Rebecca to help us through that stage of our remodel. We are return customers having worked with Rebecca about five years ago when she designed two bathrooms for us. This time, Rebecca consulted us about remodeling our basement, which included an existing large guest bedroom, a large open spaced entertainment area, an old laundry and small bathroom. She is amazing. She is the nicest person, so positive and upbeat that she's a pleasure to work with. She went beyond what we were expecting, delivering us four different configurations for our new bathroom/laundry combo room. All of them fabulous it was hard to choose. We are very happy with the choices she made . The space looks fantastic and is so modern. We also appreciated that we could email her a couple of times to ask an opinion on a major piece of furniture we had found and whether it would suit the space, and this was weeks after our last planned meeting. She was more than happy to help us out and did so in a timely manner. Rebecca's fees turned were approx 3% of our total remodel project cost. That was worth every cent. There's nothing worse than getting a job like this done, then living with something that just doesn't work. To us this was money very well spent and we'd definitely recommend Rebecca to anyone wanted to update an area of their home. read more

The most charming Rebecca West of Seriously Happy Homes came to my home a couple of days ago for a 90-minute consultation and man-oh-man, best money I've ever spent! Prior to our meeting, I had ordered her book on Amazon, Happy Starts at Home, which I very much suggest you read, whether or not you pay for a consultation. (The book was so helpful, I ordered four copies for friends). With this book as my tool, I typed out several pages of questions, using her philosophy of "change with focus and intention." What sets Rebecca apart from other decorators, is that she is a design psychology coach. She didn't tell me how I should make my home more tasteful (it's a little off center), but how I could use the furniture and "stuff" that I already have, and which makes me happy, in different ways, and how to get rid of the things that were gifted that make my house unhappy. Rebecca also saved me a lot of money that I would have spent fixing up, for example, my garage for resale value (she said I didn't need to do anything but declutter it). I couldn't believe that we were able to cover every question I had in 90 minutes, and I jotted down tons of suggestions/ideas (i.e. for a possible Air B&B in my basement). This morning I received an email with names and contact information for all the jobs we jointly decided I should have done so that I can enjoy however many years I stay in my home, yet think ahead to these things adding to the sale of my home. My new mantra is, to quote Rebecca: "Clutter, even when stuffed out of sight in closets and garages, takes up space in our brains and makes us feel stressed." My clutter revolves around sentimental attachments, but "Life can only be understood backwards, but it must be lived forwards."
