This is a very challenging golf course. Set in the hills of Green Valley, this desert course requires that you are not only a long ball hitter, but an accurate one at that. I would not recommend this golf course to the average or high handicap golfer, it will only frustrate you. The views of the valley are spectacular and if you are into it they offer "Tee Mates", which are "good looking" women who you can pay an extra fee for them to ride around with you during your round....they will replace divots, tee up your ball, fix ball marks, and tend the pin. I've never used that service as I find it distracting and a waste of money. However, if that's what floats your boat, it's available.....just remember that you have to pay extra for it and reserve them ahead of time. The course itself is kept in great condition all year round. The fees are above average for a Vegas golf course, but you get to play a fantastic course for your money. I've played here a few times, but not enough to have favorite holes. Will I return? I will eventually, it's a good course. read more

Played here this past Sunday. 5th round of the year here. The course was in good condition, and the greens were fast as usual. It's a long course... 7300+ from the tips.... and the distance and the greens is where most of the "difficulty" comes from. The course runs through Seven Hills, with nice views of the city. Although it is in a housing development, most of the houses are set back pretty far from the course.... so for the most part you don't really notice them all that much while you're playing. I think it's a similar course to Lexington at Revere (located just a few miles away).... although I think Lexington is actually more of a challenge.... although Rio Secco has a more highly regarded name. The casino employee rate was $50 when we played, but I think it will drop even more during the middle of summer. The staff here is all very helpful and friendly. Although the pre-round practice facilities aren't all that great. You're supposed to hit off the mats on the practice range.... which I hate! makes every shot seem like a perfect one. Overall a nice course.... in my top 5 or 6 for Vegas. read more

Really fun golf course, that I used to play a lot. Played about a month ago and the course was in pretty good shape greens weren't awesome, but they rolled a pretty decent fast speed for the end of the summer when greens usually struggle. The pace of play was pretty good, they were running a local special for $43, for a shotgun start at 7:30 am. We beat the heat at a great price for a really fun golf course. Be prepared for a difficult challenge. There is very little room for error off the tee so bring your accurate sticks :) Great views of the strip from 11 tee, and 18 tee, and even #1 fairway and #2 tee and fairway. Great set of par 3's on this course and the par 5's are pretty lengthy. The course finishes with two par 5's so hopefully you can grab a birdie on one of these two holes to finish your round. 4 good stars, would be 5 stars but when they aren't running local end of summer specials, they are way over-priced, especially for locals. I like this course tho and it's really fun when you play well. read more

I make it to Vegas a few times a year for the past 10 years or so and I usually lug my clubs with me to experience some golf. I have stopped at Rio Secco before but did not play so I was looking forward to this experience. I was alone this time and booked a tee time as a single. I pulled into the parking lot and was expecting to see somebody at the bag drop but nobody was there. I parked and because I had just arrived from the airport I had to go inside and change into my golfing attire. Nice cozy locker room that was clean. Changed clothes and went back to my car and started unloading my clubs. At this time, a guy came out to my car with a cart and loaded my clubs but I had to walk to the clubhouse. Nice proshop that is well stocked with many brands of clothing. Friendly staff behind the counter got me going and pointed me in the right direction. Range balls are included and I stopped at the snack bar conveniently located right next to the practice tee. The course is a site to behold. Designed in the valley of the foothills and lined with lavish homes of various sizes and designs. I had a GPS for my yardage which came in real handy and kept me from hunting for those darn sprinkler heads. I didn't get a caddie this time but maybe I will try one of those T-mates for next time. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed the course and would recommend especially if you can find a special rate or don't mind twilight rate heat. read more

Wow. What a great surprise. This is now one of my favorite Vegas area courses. The staff was amazing, the greens and fairways were in excellent shape, and the layout was challenging but fair, at least from the distance we played. It was a clear day and the views of the strip below us were amazing. Big thanks to Mike Scully, GM and all his staff. Also Keli, the cart person was on fire with her service and hustle. Great reception as soon as you arrive by the Outside Manager. After taking care of business in the Pro Shop, the Manager escorted me to the driving range, right across from the snack bar. I warmed up a bit and then followed the path to the first tee. I played alone in the afternoon, and had the course practically to myself. I was able to fly around in about two hours and had a great experience. The course is also home to the Butch Harmon Golf Academy, and got to see Brooks Kopeka and Brant Snedekar. The course is in really great shape and it is very challenging. They have a Million Dollar par 3 hole, and I was disappointed there was nobody here when I arrived, but I guess they bailed as I was the last one on the course when I arrived there. Very friendly staff, and would look forward to playing again. read more

Had a chance to play here again at the ed of February on a great Friday morning. We were able to play as a twosome and it was awesome as we breezed through 18 in just over 3 hours. The course was in great shape and we were lucky as the day we played was a perfect 75F and very little wind. Although not my favourite place to play while in Vegas it is a great course none the less! Rio Secco is not the most difficult course you will play but it does provide some good challenges and also it gives some nice vistas of the strip in the distance from the last few holes coming down to 18. Be careful on 18 as I cracked one left and hit a home. Good thing it wasn't a broken glass sound! read more

Another Harrah's property courses that is discounted for Hotel Guests. Daily fees also apply. Much like Dragon Ridge in the hills and valley that overlook Vegas this place winds through the landscape also with many gorgeous homes bordering the property. Another immaculately kept landscape that has hard fast greens that are shall we say less than fair? Ok hit it in the right place and you have a chance to make putt or you can be totally screwed. Great views of downtown Vegas from many holes and the par 5 finishing hole down the valley with Vegas in the background is a real nice touch to finish. Some of the greens were not in perfect order so I'll knock a star off here, but staff was great, driving range gorgeous and a place I would not mind playing again. read more

I left a not so good review last Saturday about there not being any cart girls or snack bars available for me at 2pm. well today I am here and very happy. I got here at 2 PM and the snack bar was open! I spent $45 there and now am watching the junior league in a very good mood. Saw the lovely cart girl once and she said we would see her once more. Over rated. I liked the smooth putting greens and challenging ravine carries, but for $200+ you wouldn't expect a course of this expected caliber to have numerous yellowing spots consistent across all fairways. Just because you plunk a golf course into the greater LV area doesn't justify high fees. We golfed on Thursday late morning and there were perhaps 5 groups on the entire course. Drop your fees to $75 and expect an in flux. read more

One of the best public courses I've played. Feels like a private club. Had a birthday celebration and several of my family and friends joined me (2 groups)... memorable experience. Great service, great pace, and the marshall took several group photos of us on the course and before we played. Cart service was great. Dining room food was great. Highly recommend!! read more

Played there on 10/22, 4 groups started at 1 to 1:30, very. Very slow play Contacted the ranger, his response was it has been like that all day...isn't it his job to not let that happen. He just really didn't care every time he passed us. The twosome behind us waited with us on a tee, we called pro shop and really got the same response, been backed up all day 3 of our groups only finished 16 holes, twosome behind only 15. No one from pro shop to apologize when we came in. Very nice course, very poor attitude and service Played 36 one day at Paiute, got em all in with no problem. Will not reccomend your course to others. read more

This is a course that I have played multiple times but my most recent visit on 2/4 could not have been worse. The course was in ok shape for the time of year but the course management couldn't have been worse. We actually had to leave our round early because of exceptionally slow play. As we were riding in from #14 we realized the issue. Not one but two 6 player groups were in front of us. After 14 holes we were pressing to 4 hours and darkness was fast approaching. Even the beverage cart lady noted the backed up nature of the course and let us know we wouldn't be able to finish. When we reached the club house we let the person in the Proshop know about the issue and he literally shrugged his shoulders and turn around to do something else. This is the type of service I would expect from a $40 public course not a $200 a round facility. If all of that wasn't bad enough I was sent a survey after my round. I filled out the survey with my challenges I outlined above and have yet to hear any feedback....great golf course but service left much much much to be desired read more

Played the course today 6-24 and is in good shape for the time of year when most courses are burning up. What separates this course is the customer service. The starter was one of the best I have ever experienced. He went out of his way to help us with a full driving range of people to get us extra waters, green repair tools, give us extra tees and get us out on time. Customer service goes a long way nowadays and will be back to Rio again! read more

This course is very over rated. None of the holes really said "wow". Fairways were in fairly good shape. Greens were ok but relatively slow. Pro shop said that they were 10.5. The service from the time we arrived until the time we left was great!! Cart girls were very attentive and came by 2-3 times per nine. All of my foursome live in Las Vegas and all agree that are glad we played Rio Secco, but probably won't play it again. read more

Nice course but VERY slow play. Had two 6sums playing on the back nine and no ranger in sight. When we quit after 16 holes and told the pro shop they had no interest in the issue. The greens were not in good shape at all. For the money, I would recommend many other courses. read more

I love this golf course. It is challenging, well maintained and the staff is obviously well trained in hospitality But DAMMIT...!! Put water coolers every third hole. My playing partner and I each drank about three quarts of water before the 14th hole and came into the finish parched. The cart girl, lovely and hospitable as she is, cannot be relied on to show up when you're out there dying. So...you've been warned now. I played here last Spring (Jan '15) and had a great time. So, I tried the course again (Nov '15) and didn't find it to be worthy of the green fee they were asking for. The course layout is beautiful and challenging. I like the mix of punishing holes and risk reward holes. The elevation change wasn't crazy so nothing to fear except for the narrow fairways protected by the rocky terrain. The greens were shaggy, bumpy and didn't putt all that well. For the price we paid ($169), I'd say that was a bit overpriced for my experience (I golf two to three times each week and travel for golf quite a lot so I think I'm a pretty good gauge for golf courses). The staff (starter, cart girls, marshals, 19th hole) were all very friendly and helpful. The club house is great for having a cocktail while figuring out the scores and settling bets. Overall an enjoyable experience. read more

Pretty nice course. Wide open. Greens were a little suspect, but hey it's December! Fast enough to make it fun. Definately cart golf. Friendly Pro Shop. Kelly the Snack Cart attendant was awesome. Here's the problem: there were less than 30 folks on the course, no one around us and we get hassled by a young marshall. NO ONE WAITED A SINGLE SHOT ON US! We finished the round on 4:10 without changing our pace. This young guy approaches us and says "can you help me out, you're 15 minutes off 'pace of play '" seriously, no one was near us. Then he he keeps driving his cart around us like he's checking in on us. This dude needs to get a life. Really ruined the day. read more

Fun course in great shape. A fantastic desert course with a nice layout. Cart girls were always around and you can make a bet on hole 7 which gets you merchandise at the pro shop. Close to the strip and they will store your bags if you come straight from the airport. read more

Putting aside the fact that the course is in nowhere near as good a shape as it was after it opened several years ago, it's now reached the point where the entire experience has gone downhill. My last round my partner and I zipped right through the front nine with no one in front of us, and then we made the turn and ran into a slow-moving foursome that came out of nowhere and backed everything up. Plus you've got singles out there cutting holes left and right, and of course never a marshal in sight (if they even have any). As a local I didn't get burned as badly for 65 bucks, but if you're from out of town and they try to hit you up for $150 or more, you have the right to expect a better day on the links than you can get from any $20 a round muni. I would definitely recommend taking your business elsewhere. read more

I have been coming here for the past 2 years,( I'm a junior with youth on course membership) and they have on the website for YOC that it is a youth on course golf course. So I went today and now I am being told I have to pay an additional 50$ a month to hit range balls. Keep in mind this is not a country club or private course. This place is a great challenge. Tight fairways and fast greens. The only issue i had was on their Million Dollar hole that is advertised there was no course rep to verify if you in deed hit a hole in one. For a Friday before memorial day at 11am you would think someone would be working it. gladly I did not hit a ace but it would have nice to even have the opportunity. I did hit one within a inch on hole 12. I would recommend playing here once as it is a tough course. read more

I live in Las Vegas and the course is challenging but well worh the effort if you can drive the ball well and keep it in the fairway. This is a desert course so most of the time, you will find unplayable lies off the fairways. Great views of the city and the homes on the course. read more

Tough and really pretty course with a few amazing views of the city. There was a storm that came over when we were playing and flash flooding started. I liked that they provide bottle water and divot tool. The mansions that surrounded the course was a little unbelievable. Not a single bad looking home under 5000 square feet.
