Serna's has reopened with a revamped menu that has increased the Mexican food items, transforming its image as more than your average beef/hot dog/burger stand. I had the gyros sandwich a few weeks ago, and I must say that they don't skimp on size here. On that visit, the 1/2 lb. Barbacoa caught my attention, so I returned today to give it a try. The barbacoa comes with three larger, house made corn tortillas, onions , cilantro, lime wedges and both red and green salsas. Everything was fantastic. If a flaw was to be found, it would be that the salsas seemed geared toward extra mild. The red had a little bit of zip, but still was quite heat challenged. Botha salsas had excellent flavor. They also have daily specials, like the $1.89 Thursday taco special. I look forward to sharing the 1 lb. Barbacoa with someone soon. read more

Service was good. I would like to add that it would be a good idea to have some plastic utensils available. Food was tasty, generous portions. Meat was not chewy, ordered the Philly cheese steak. First of all Best Food Truck Ever , outstanding quality and even better service . I was at a bday party in Johnsburg , IL, and I can't say enough how great, fresh and tasty the menu is . I ordered 1 of most and OMG !! They rocked it . I honestly cannot remember when I had French Fries that tasted this good , I only say that because the Gyros,Italian Beef , Tacos are crazy good and pretty much everything on the menu I wish I could have met the chef . The food at Yadi's is really good. Been coming here for a few years. Their italian beef is very good. I think it's one of the better sandwiches in the area. The gyros and cheeseburgers are also very good, too. On my most recent visit we tried the Steak loaded french fries. They were so good and they offer small or large orders of the loaded fries. So, how do you give a sandwich/gyro joint 4 stars? Ratings, for me, include a combination of factors from 30 years of business travel. First, this place is convenient with easy access. Second, the staff is very friendly, positive, accommodating and thankful. That's a big deal! Third,.the food is really good; portion sizes are appropriate. Boy, Yadi was grumpy today! No smiles at all from the guys behind the counter. One guy even seemed irritated when I asked for my drink cup (which he forgot to give me). I would give them a 1-star downgrade......were it not for the fact that they now offer horchata and pineapple juice as choices for a fountain beverage. A must!!! Moved into the area maybe three years ago and through conversation with a friend was told about this place. She lives in Arlington Heights but grew up in the neighborhood and told me I must try the gyro dinner plate! Well my husband and I went to try and we were left speechless! Not only did we receive the best service the food was phenomenal!! It's a grill and fast food place how good could it be well it was so good this foodie forgot to take a picture because once these flavors hit my mouth it was complete silence!!! I had the gyro Swiss omelette!!! Omg so tasty! My husband had the gyro plate we were anticipating on trying a burger but we had so much food it would have to wait for our second visit!!! Yadi's is great ! They have really good combos and specials and they cook everything fresh right in front of you. Their menu is cheaper than most burger joints in the neighborhood. I just tried Yadi's fresh Chicken Tenders (never frozen). OMG...they are so good. They also have the best honey mustard sauce I've ever had. Their food is very good quality in general. Saw this place changed ownership so decided to give it a shot. Wanted to try a range of items, got the Patti melt, hot dog, gyro, polish, Italian beef, fries, pizza puff, and gravy bread. Patti melt, beef, gyro, and polish were really good. Hot dog and pizza puff are your typicals nothing stands out. I really like the fries but my wife didn't. I like my fries on the thin side, she's the opposite.gravy bread was pretty good. You definitely can't beat the prices though, very reasonable. A very good gyros place with a variety of menu items. The rub eye steak meal is great and they have value meals with various combinations of food that you will not usually find in these places. The hot dogs are excellent from what I hear and this is overall a cool place for either a lunch or dinner. They have Italian and Mexican dishes in addition to the various American food. read more

Definitely not a destination lunch spot but. If you don't feel like packing the lunch pale, or you forget the brown bag on the kitchen counter, this is a viable replacement. Walking in there is a haze of old grease and is grime in every corner. The food is good, service serviceable, and all the peripheral's (napkins, cups, plastic wear) are the cheapest of the cheap. With all that negative, there is a certain charm about the place. Because of its legend, give it a try but be sure you have some tums and a damp paper towel in the truck because you'll need it to fight off the heartburn and wipe the thin layer of grease from your brow after a few minutes in this flame broiled house of Yadi! read more
