Thank Dave you can be sure we will come again to catch some big ones on the North Channel. The grounds were clean and quiet. Very clear rules that made us feel safe with the kids. The evening fires by the water to watch the sun go down was the icing for my hubby and I. The kids enjoyed thr kayaks, paddle boats and the bikes. Honestly we literally food and clothes. Cabins had everything.

I've been coming to the lighthouse since I was a kid. It's been a few years since I've been up, but the people who are looking after it now are great, and the campground is something that should be saved from the huge and growing dolomite mine that is encroaching on its borders.

We found a couple cooking on a grill near the building later. They told us we shouldn't drink the water. Our campsite was beautiful, there were flush toilets and showers. If I were to return I'd stay longer. It really is in a pretty remote location. There is a mine nearby and warning signs about blasting. The light house museum was small but well maintained. One of the best campgrounds I've been to.

We stayed here in a cabin for 2 nights in August on our way across the country…read more I hate to write a bad review because the owner seemed very nice and hospitable however on our 30 day trip all over the country this was by far the worst stay we had. Now I realize this is cabin and not a luxury suite but there should still be some basic standards met. I have never in my life slept on such a terrible mattress. I was unable to sleep more than an hour at a time both nights and considered sleeping in my car as that would have been more comfortable. My husband and I could not sleep in the bed at the same time due to how saggy it was. On top of that was the very loud noise from the highway. The cabin is basically right on the roadside just with a fence between it and the road. Also the cabin seemed dirty and the dishes didn't look very clean. Aside from that the lake was pretty but couldn't make up for the lack of a decent bed. We have stayed in hotels, cabins, motels, and campgrounds for 30 days of this trip and sad to say this was the worst. Wish I could say differently.

Stayed at the dark sky preserve for 3 nights and 4 days over Canada day long weekend…read more After 2 nights without much view of the stars, we were told that the sky is the clearest around 1-3am to see the stars. So we set an alarm on our last night to wake up at 2am and saw the sky was filled with stars - absolutely beautiful! Dark sky preserve has several spots you can pitch your tent. Each spot comes with a cooking table (where you can place your portable stove or grill) and a picnic bench. No campfire allowed at all times. No white lights allowed after dark. There's summer kitchen equipped with BBQ grill, stove and cooking utensils; flush toilet; sink; Eco shower (where you have to hold down the line for the water) at the main office site (5 mins drive from dark sky preserve) Reason for 3 stars - the bug situation was unbearable by our tent. The worst part is not being allowed to have campfires there, which will help with getting rid of them..

This was our first and last stay at Trailside Campground…read more We rented Cabin #3, which is only about 25 yards from the pavilion. It was Friday, July 24, and there were no scheduled concerts or events. Around 5 or 6 people, including the owner, were partying in the pavilion with extremely loud music, strobe lights, and a disco ball until the early morning hours. The cheap curtains in the cabin did nothing to block the flashing lights. At about 1:40 a.m., I politely walked over and asked if they could just turn the music down a little. I never asked them to shut it off--I simply wanted it lowered enough that we could get some sleep. The owner's response was unbelievable. He appeared to be intoxicated and immediately came storming toward me yelling, "Hey! Hey! Hey!" He then told me, "This isn't a KOA or a family campground. This is going to go on until 3 or 4 in the morning," and said he'd give me a refund. He wasn't calm or respectful--he was aggressive and confrontational over a simple, reasonable request. The next morning, another camper stopped me in the bathroom and said she felt bad for how the owner spoke to me. She told me another camper was so upset after witnessing it that he left the pavilion. She also mentioned the owner had been drinking all day because they were celebrating the one-year anniversary of buying the campground. We weren't the only people bothered by the noise. Campers across from us were complaining too. If your campground isn't family-friendly and you plan on having loud parties until 3 or 4 in the morning, that's your choice. But be upfront about it so guests know what they're paying for. More importantly, don't treat paying customers with disrespect when they make a polite request. Customer service starts at the top, and unfortunately our experience with the owner ensured we'll never be back.

Just minutes from De Tour Village in the Michigan UP and the car ferry to Drummond Island. Each campsite has a beautiful view of the Saint Marys River where all the big ships must pass through on their way to the Soo Locks.

We stayed at Lake George…read morecampground and did 3 hikes incl. the famous "Crack" and then rented a canoe for a day and went all the way to OSA lake and back. If you want to visit the park, plan far in advance, especially for summer months. Most sites are booked 6 months in advance. Bring sturdy hiking boots, especially for the "Crack" hike, there is a lot of climbing and jumping from rock to rock. Also, bring your own firewood, the one they sell in the park is wet and rotten, cut from the fallen trees. The only place you can buy dry firewood nearby is Killarney outfitters but it costs a ridiculous $16+tax for the bag of firewood that will last you for 2-3 hours.

We got one of the last campsites…read moreavailable for the week that we wanted when I booked, so we were placed in the front end of the campground across the main road by the beach! The front site which was great because the park has no entry after 11pm thru the front gate so we could have come and go as we pleased, as we didn't have a gate. The front spots didn't have a bathroom close, so it was a little walk which was fine, we had the sky full of stars to look at on our way. This is a family style campground and it's so great that there is no late night partying and loud noise after 11. Wish the 2 washrooms in the campground had more than 1 shower facility but the wait was never too long. We had a great time, we heard wolves howling, fed chipmunks, went fishing, swam in the lake and relaxed.
