Worst interaction with a VW dealer ever. Daughter took her car in for warranty work and the dealership damaged the car. The manager said would have to bring back when other manager was there to get it checked. 45 minute drive each way twice to finally get told would have to bring back to get it fixed later. After multiple calls and non returned calls told would get loaner then strung that out for multiple weeks with lies and no returned calls. Then told shuttle would drive her back to school bring car in drove the 45 minutes again and low and behold no one available to drive her. Then cost us $110.00 Uber ride to get her home was told would take 3 days and would come pick her up imagine that no shuttle available another $110 Uber ride to get the car. No apologies just a run around for 5 weeks and their mistakes costs us money. Will never use this dealership again and will stear everyone away from them. read more

The service dept is great!!! Friendly and knowledgeable about what they are doing. please overlook the receptionist, she needs to be retrained. But everyone else here knows their business!!!! I was skeptical myself when I saw a 1.5 star rating, but when I came in, I was happily surprised by their helpfulness. Why I came in was minor, but the service was great!!!! AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COST! It happened I never wrote any bad reviews in the past and just never really felt like my comments and experience might be particularly useful to anybody. The truth actually is I've never gotten such a bad and by all means disappointing experience anywhere else in my entire life. So, this is what anybody thinking about buying a vehicle at Serra Volkswagen should know before coming or contacting this place. Last month, I was in the market for a 2017 VW Touareg Wolfsburg Edition. Using cars.com, I found the vehicle I was looking for posted on Serra's website. I send these guys an email immediately. I was not going to play any games or so. I was very serious about the purchase and ready to come from VA (my hometown is over 700 miles away from Birmingham). As soon as the price was right and I got approved for an auto loan, I committed to buying the vehicle and left deposit ($1000) over the phone. The sales manager I was dealing with was VINCENT LAVENDER. I was told that they are gonna put a sold sign with my name on this vehicle I was going to buy and will make it ready for delivery which we scheduled on June 23rd. So, I took a day off from my job and even pre-paid for a rental car. This all was happening within a week from a scheduled delivery. On June 19th (Wednesday), Vincent called me and said that he's apologizing but the Touareg I left a deposit on has been totaled. Totaled! His explanation was that their car detailer/lot attendant was taking the vehicle into the recon which, as he said, is just across the street, and he was hit by another vehicle. It turned out, he is now in the hospital and only God knows if he is going to stay alive. OMG! I was left with lots of questions, like, for example, why would you wash and vac the vehicle FOUR days before an actual delivery? Moreover, I was never provided with any kind of evidence of the accident like photos, any kind of report, etc. So, it all looked reeeealy suspiciously to me, but anyways, they returned me a deposit and I did not mean to give them any complains or a hard time because of an incident. Eventually, these guys just tried to kind of walk away from everything and did not even mean to possibly offer me any other vehicle on their lot to somehow compensate for what has happened. I had a solid impression that no one intends to continue any business with me. Anyways, I kept looking, and within a week I was at another VW dealership - not too far away from home - where I was ready to purchase a vehicle from their lot. Much to my surprise, their sales manager provided me with an unbreakable evidence coming from VW system and a Carfax that the "totaled" Touareg from Serra VW was actually never totaled! It was SOLD to another customer! And it happened on June 17th within a few days after I left a deposit and they said they are gonna place a "SOLD" sign on a vehicle with my name! WHAT A DIRTY LIE! A CRASH ON A ROAD.. A GUY "SUFFERING IN A HOSPITAL..." WHAT WAS ALL THAT ABOUT, FOLKS?! So I called Vincent as soon as I could, and asked him to ask his general manager to call me back. I did not indicate that I know anything about what truly happened. And guess what? Of course, no one has EVER called me back! Neither no one has ever compensated my expenses I spend for a rental car, interest charge I paid to the bank (since I never used a check I got), and a hotel reservation. They just don't care about anything else - even their NAME - but money! TO ANYBODY READING THIS POST, THIS PLACE IS JUST A TOTAL FAKE that does not deserve to have a VW name on it! It's running on dishonesty, greed, and lie! They put their own money interest first NO MATTER what they SAY, what they PROMISE or what they PUT their signature next to! I think the paper they put the numbers on worth more than what they say to you! AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COST! Would leave no stars if I could. I've been here for six and a half hours with no resolution in sight. I brought my car in for a recall and routine maintenance. They told me my brake pads were low so I authorized them to replace the brake pads. Three hours after I got here they said they finished and attempted to have me pay and leave. They never mentioned it, but I noticed on the paperwork that they never completed the recall service. I had to refuse to pay/take my car for them to even attempt the recall service. The recall issue is important because it's a major safety concern and I've experienced it myself many times (ABS failure, loss of traction control, basically lose control of the car). The woman who was trying to have me pay and leave told me it wasn't a big deal and not to worry about leaving it unfixed. Are you kidding?! They said an IT technician has been on the way for more than three hours now (from an hour drive away, still not here). I asked for a loaner car after six hours of waiting, and they told me they're out of them. I asked about a rental car service and they said they don't do that. They asked me to reschedule to have the primary issue from this reservation resolved. This is the worst customer service and communication I've ever received. The manager isn't in the building, he's at he Nissan next door and he refused to come talk to me in person. The woman at the desk handed me her cell phone and he was rude and condescending over the phone. Even if I wasn't moving out of town I would refuse to come back here again. I would drive probably five hours to avoid coming back to this place. I wish I hadn't had them replace my brakes at this point because I don't want to support this business by giving them even more money. Avoid at all costs!!! I would leave zero stars if I could. Support businesses who care. Update: they messed up when doing the recall service, so now I'm having to pay for labor at another dealership (since I moved) for my cruise control to work. They said they didn't know when they would be able to get to my car. Sera is currently trying to fix my 2007 Passat Wagon 4motion due to error codes with the fuel system. They originaly replaced the fuel pump control unit for $400 but did not provide any evidence to me that it was defective and the problem returned (car feels like it is running out of gas) the next day. Drove back to them from Tuscaloosa and was told that the fuel pump manifold needs to be replaced until I told them that I drove there from Tuscaloosa that morning with no problem... How could that be possible with a broken fuel pump. Gene (the service manager) is very nice but he is either being lied to by his technicians or they are both lying to me... Either way it is unacceptable. They are now discussing what to do after I told them that I drove the car into them so I will update this post when they tell me what they intend to do and how much more of my money they want. They did provide me with transportation to the train station so I could return to Tuscaloosa which was very nice of them. Update: Gene called me today to tell me that they flushed my gas tank and cleaned out a bunch of debris and they think that was causing my problem. No charge for this so if it works then I will be very happy. Still a bit uneasy that the first recommendation was to change fuel pump without looking into the gas tank which would have cost me an unnecessary $500, thus not 5 stars. read more

I stopped by Serra yesterday to obtain a radio code for my new Vw radio. The service advisor, (who was eating a hamburger behind the counter) told me serra policy was to charge 1 hours service charge ( which is $125) for this service, even though I had already installed my radio and had the required serial numbers in hand. The internet provide this service for $12.50. (100 times less). Go to sale@vwcodes.org for your radio code, and pick another VW dealer for your service. Anyone who would rip off a customer (yes I bought my Jetta new from Serra) 100 times the going rate, does not deserve my patronage. read more

Ok so I bought a 2017 Volkswagen Passat r-line back in 2017. I have not missed a payment up until oct.27 2019. So I called to see what they can do since I was laid off and always paid on time and the lady said they offer and extension for one month or two but it will cost you 110 for one month or 200 and something for 2 months. Mind you I only left owing 210 dollars out of a total of 360.57. I'm like if I had that money I would have put it on my car note to get it down...smh then she kept asking is there anyone I can borrow from or take out a loan I'm lady lady why would I do that when I can't even pay you all....I asked whats the use if trying pay on time and be loyal to you all....besides keeping my credit high and keeping in good standings with the banks that loaned me the money....you all can't offer my ANYTHING she repeated herself about asking someone for money. When I came here to look at this truck I was treated with respect, did not get the typical treatment, was helped by Trez Simmons, got a very fair deal (did my homework) and all promises made were kept. This dealership has to be the most underhanded and untrustworthy dealership I have had the unfortunate privilege to encounter. I am a retired military soldier who send my daughter to this dealership because there was a car she wanted online. The car was $6,200 and with the tax is should have been no more than $7,500. My bank was going to finance the price of the car at the listed price online. My daughter drove the car and decided to get the car. The dealership wanted me to finance the car with them for a $1000 discount on the cost of the car which would have been $5,200 but since I informed the dealership that I wasn't interested, they charge an additional $1000 to the cost of the vehicle then since they drove the car from one parking lot to the other they wanted to charge and additional $999. Once the dealership had total up the entire price of the car and gave my daughter the invoice, the total price of the car was over $10,000. Now how does a car go from $6,200 to $10,000. I inform my daughter to leave and go look elsewhere for a car. My daughter had drive over 3 hours to get to that dealership to see that car but everything worked out. She found another car while in the area and drove it home in less than one hour. I guess there are some dealerships that realize people work hard for their money and a dealership should not be trying to rip you out of your money. Stay away from this dealership. read more
