We've had such a great experience with this daycare. From day one, our daughter has felt genuinely welcome and part of a sweet little community. Our son has been at SHA since he was an infant. He's 3.5 years old now and has excellent vocabulary! We have no doubt he's ready for public school. I honestly think he's probably able to skip a grade... lol. We also put our daughter in here and she loves it. They do lots of activities with the kids - read, learn, and play. They have celebrations for the different holidays and cultures year around. We've had really great teachers and although turnover is normal - the new teachers they hired were also great! If we were to do it again, we probably would have started our daughter a little sooner because she really enjoyed being at school. If you're a parent who's researching and reviewing different preschools around Anaheim Hills, don't overlook SHA! It's tucked away in a little plaza and really checked off a lot of our boxes when searching for the right place for our daughter. Pros: 1) This place offered flexibility - they have various options ranging from a few days a week for 3 or 5 hours or full days (drop off and pick anytime between 7am-6pm ish) 2) The owner is very communicative - whenever I had questions (before enrolling) and throughout attending SHA, Vik was always quick to respond to any questions or concerns. Communication is consistent and they use the Lilio app. I got photos / updates of what my child was doing on a daily basis. Communication gets sent out immediately if a child has hand foot mouth, pink eye, etc. 3) Diversity - it was important to find a place that valued diversity, and SHA does a wonderful job celebrating diversity by inviting families to come and share about their own cultural traditions / holidays throughout the year. They also encourage family involvement in events throughout the year which I really loved. 4) Last but not least, a fun and safe learning environment - as a parent who was looking for the first preschool to enroll her daughter in, we wanted to make sure that we felt comfortable dropping off our child in a place where she felt safe and comfortable. They don't have cameras for parents to monitor their kids on, but we have always felt our child was in good hands in their care. My daughter never once complained about going to preschool -- she looked forward to going everyday! During the summer they also have a bunch of fun events like water play days, visits from magicians and 'mad scientists'. Now while there's so much to love about this preschool, especially the dedicated and compassionate teachers (who are what make the school special), it was disheartening to see a lot of the long term teachers leave this year. It was crucial for me to find a preschool that had consistent teachers, and we were very very lucky to have Ms Destany for the entire duration of the school year, but the constant turnover in staff was a bit alarming. We visited several daycares in the Anaheim Hills area and decided to choose Serrano Heights Academy, and I'm very glad we did so! Mr. Vik responds to quickly. He also explains things clearly via email, and I think he is very fair with the school policies. My daughter started at Serrano Heights Academy part-time back when she was about 1.5 years old. She is now almost 4 years old and in SHA full-time. In the beginning there were tears at drop off, but the teachers and assistants were all gentle and patient but also firm. It took about a month for her teary drop offs to stop. Throughout the years I would notice my daughter throwing away trash or washing hands and realize that she learned it from SHA. Potty-training started at home during a long weekend. The Monday after, I communicated this to Miss Yadi and Miss Marelyn, and my daughter was able to continue the potty training at school. It was very successful. They have mini-toilets! It's so cool! They separate potty breaks by girls and boys. Now my daughter is in Room 4 with Miss Destany and Miss Savannah where they are preparing her for TK with paper work activities and learning to take turns, raise hands, etc. The teachers are communicative with ouchie reports and updates. The best part is the Lillio app that allows parents and teachers to communicate. The teachers include a photo ALMOST everyday. The photos give me a glimpse of classroom life where she's not teary from drop off, and it gives a good idea of the activities in class. The summer program has water play (my daughter never liked this and she's not forced to participate), and interesting programs like magic show, mad science, face painting/balloons, etc. There's also dance and sports class you can sign your kids up for extra activity. We originally enrolled my son in a different preschool and it was a terrible experience. It was my son's first time being taken care of by anyone except family so I was extremely anxious to try another preschool after it going poorly the first time around but I'm SO glad I found Serrano heights and ended up choosing to enroll my son here. The teachers are all amazing. So nurturing, patient, and kind. The program is also very organized and always doing different fun events involving families. As someone who works in education I truly believe that having a positive teacher impacts the feeling of the classroom and how the kids act and I feel because the teachers here are so kind all of the students are so sweet and kind as well. Our daughter was at Serrano for 4 months before we had to switch schools due to a location change on our end. The entire time there, all the staff was incredibly attentive and sweet to the kids. Our daughter quickly came to love getting dropped off and playing with her friends. Lots of indoor and outdoor play, never had any issues. I've recommended Serrano to a few of my friends and will continue to do so. They're competitively priced and will even price match if you find a comparative school in the area charging less. The connectivity of the school is great. They utilize an app to send updates throughout the day and even send photos of the kiddos during activities, which also get shared on their instagram! My 17 month old attended this day care for almost a year. At first, he hated going but within a few months, he wouldn't even look back to say bye to me. TLDR: We would recommend SHA, Competitively priced, Very accommodating, Nice Staff We were in the market for daycare when our child turned one year old. After touring several facilities we decided on Serrano Heights. SHA was competitively priced and they even price matched. Our child attended part time from age 1-2, and we were able to work out a Thu/Fri schedule, which was unusual compared to other facilities. Vik, the owner, was very accommodating and several weeks allowed us to switch a day or adjust drop-off. We also took a hiatus during our child's 1 year enrollment when we welcomed our second child, where pausing and re-starting was quite easy with Vik and SHA. The teachers were all very nice and engaging with our child. SHA uses the Hi Mama app which we would get updates on their day and occasionally photos of activities. There were up to 4 teachers in the 2 year old room and up to 12 children at a time. In the morning and evening newborns up to 2 year olds would be combined. The only negative would be that the facility is not the most pristine and could use some updates. This does seem like something the owner is working on, as during our hiatus the flooring in our child's class was upgraded. read more

As a first time parent, picking a daycare for your child can be nerve wracking. After touring several daycares, we knew Serrano Heights Academy was our place almost immediately. Vik and his staff are absolutely incredible. Our son has been here for a little over 2 years and we couldn't be happier with our decision. It been great watching our son grow and learn new skills each day and knowing that they are in the hands of teachers who truly care about their kids. The school focuses on STEM learning, lots of hands on activities and has zero screen time (a huge plus for us). We enrolled our oldest child in SHA 2 years ago when he was six months old. As new parents, we were nervous to start daycare. I'm so thankful we found Serrano Heights. Throughout his entire time, his teachers have been caring and put us at ease with frequent communication and photos of what they're doing each day. The teachers a have a good balance of experience - some pursuing advanced degrees in early childhood ( or related) and some having basic early childhood education but a wealth of hands on experience. The varied backgrounds create a good environment for the children to thrive.  Now that he is in the Room 3 Jr. preschool, they spend more time learning with playing. It's fun seeing the lesson topics in the monthly newsletter, and seeing him talking about the topics at home. I was nervous about the higher ratios and that my kiddo would get "lost in the shuffle"  (the higher ratios are standard at this age throughout all daycares) but they do a great job with behavior management and teaching the kids how to get along with each other, in a caring manner. I've noticed him applying what he learns at school with his baby brother at home and with friends at the playground. The teachers have been open to personalizing approaches to ensure his comfort, especially during life transitions. I love that they do celebrations for holidays from all different cultures throughout the year, with fun activities and lessons around the meaning of those holidays.  My younger son is in the infant room currently - I can't say enough about how genuinely caring the Room 1 and 2 teachers are. My 8 month old lights up when he sees them in the morning. Especially his main teachers - Angelina, Gita, Jeanette, and Hannah. Not everything will be 100% perfect when someone else is caring for your children - but whenever we have needed follow-up, the owner, Vik is very responsive and open to feedback. My son went here for just over a year and he loved it. I was really hesitant about taking him to a facility at first but after he was diagnosed as speech delayed, I knew being around other children was something he needed. The staff was so patient with him and really helped us as parents make the transition into a daycare facility. The facilities have recently been updated and look great. Let me start about saying this... for being in the Anaheim hills we are supremely happy with our baby Lily staying there for the better part of more than year. The only reason we are leaving is that we moved out of the area. They use an app (Lillio) for check in and check out which is helpful when doing drop off and pick ups. This app is great for reviews of the days and when she eats and sleeps. We are going to miss how easy this app was to use. They are also great about sending a photo of an activity they have done. You can have notifications so that you are updated throughout the day. This piece of mind is reassuring. My baby was in the infant program till she was - and then moved into a room with 1 and 2 years old now. Judith who is the teacher is room 1 and we got a teacher in room 2 ( Val). Both are truly excellent and really do care about your child. I can tell they are treated so great here when I drop her off my little one runs to them! In the beginning the thing my wife needed the most was reassurance that we picked a great place and we viewed all the major hitters in the area. We went here because it was close to were we lived and value we got for what we are paying. Rest assure, your child is going to be treated with respect going with SHA. Also I thought this was kind of awesome was that they had activities centered around holidays or religious events ( for all religions). They have activities during the summer and really foster great relations between the kid. She will miss SHA, Judith and Val. Our daughter attended SHA for about 5 months in mid to late 2021 and was in the infant room. We left to find somewhere that worked better for my commute. - As other reviewers have mentioned Vik is the best. Hands down. He was always super responsive, understanding, flexible, and fair. We always felt that if we had a problem or needed something he would be happy to help us. - Our daughter LOVED her teachers. It was clear every day we dropped her off. Always a huge smile on her face to see them and the teachers seemed thrilled to see her too. Knowing that you're dropping your child off to a truly caring environment goes a long way especially as a first time parent. We have definitely not had the same feeling at our new daycare. - Staff was always communicative and let us know how she did during the day both via the app and during pick up. - I wish the staff utilized some of the app features a bit more. We got a couple pictures her first week at SHA then they died out and we barely got 1-2/month. I brought it up to staff but didn't get much result from it. Getting those pictures goes a long way towards quelling the nerves of a new parent. There was a split infant room in the works (6wk-1yr and 1yr-2yr) which I really wish had been there while we were there as I think it would have helped keep the class size down and given both teachers and kids a bit more breathing room. Hopefully its done now but not sure. Overall we liked SHA and would recommend it to new parents who are especially on a budget. SHA is definitely the most affordable in the area but don't let that fool you, because it's better than many that charge way more. 4.5 stars rounded up to 5! read more

My son attended this school for over three years. It took him for a while to get used to school, but Ms.Alyssa and Ms Destiny were very patient and always welcomed him. by the time he graduated, he was surrounded by many good friends and teachers. They have a lot of activities and my son loved everything especially science experiments such as Volcanos, magnetic slimes and more. The school shared the pictures and videos of activities through the App so I could talk about it with him at home which i really liked. Also, his teachers Ms Alyssa and Ms Destiny were so flexible. I asked them to spend more time for lowercase of alphabets and numbers for him to be ready for kindergarten and they encouraged him to learn and teach him one by one, not too fast for him to feel comfortable then he now loves learning and loves doing kindergarten homework!! He is having fun at his new school but he misses SHA a lot. He misses his old friends and teachers. I hope a lot of kids will have a great time at SHA. read more

I sent my son here for almost 3 years. He absolutely loved the school and the teachers. The teachers have shown my son nothing but love, and they have always been very attentive to any special request that I have made. You can tell that the teachers really care. Every time I picked up my son from school, I would get a nice summary from the teachers on how the day went. My family loves Serrano Heights Academy! My daughter went there from 8 months to 4 years. They are so good with the kids, it feels like family. This place is the most unprofessional place I have ever encountered and I deeply regret sending me son here. My son started with the infant room when he was 8 months. When he was 1 years old, he then got moved to classroom 2 and that is when we started to have some problems. He was in that classroom for 1 week before we pulled him out from the daycare. First of all, this daycare offers the HiMama app which I can appreciate since its a way for the teachers and parents can communicate, and we can see what they eat from the foods we pack, wet/bowel movements diapers, naps. There were inconsistency with the teachers logging in on the app and I would not get a full report by the time my son gets picked up. As a nurse, I am gone all day/night and would like to know whats going on with my child. Also, I label every food item to give my child for breakfast, lunch, snack. So why would the teacher not offer some of the food items that I label to give my son and why is snack items given to him for lunch and not his actual lunch items??? So I spoke to the director and main teacher (Ms. Val) throughout the week about the inconsistency with the app and not giving him foods that I packed. Well, according to Ms. Val, she said that they are not used to parents labeling food items and they typically give the kids whatever food they see fit from their lunch bag. Ummm....WHAT THE HECK??? When I spoke to Vic about pulling my son out from the daycare, he was very unprofessional. He was even shocked when I told him what Ms. Val said regarding my sons food. So this place has a 30 day notice policy if we were to pull our child out. But because I was so displeased with my sons care, I decided to pull my son out abruptly (Thursday afternoon). I have to pay back the promotional discount (which is fine). But why do I have to pay back the admission and materials fee? Just 2 day later, I get an email threatening me to pay back! Its the weekend and I wanted to wait til Monday to speak to Vic about the extra charges. So calm down and don't threat me! read more

We highly recommend SHA based on our wonderful experience. The owner Vik is very prompt in his response and is very considerate. We had few changes in our Daughter 'M's weekly schedule over the past few months and SHA was very supportive in accommodating all our requests. Our daughter is in the infant class and we can go to work without worrying an ounce about her. The teachers are extremely trustworthy and caring, which I believe are the most important attributes when you drop your child at the day care. They have lots of activities going on (new words, numbers, poems acts, stories, puzzles, painting, craft etc.) and 'M' comes back home with bunch of surprises for us every now and then. Also, they are very focused on developing good eating and sleep habits which I appreciate a lot. Lastly, we receive a daily report (in real time) and pictures about how the day went wrt food, nap, diaper changes, activities etc. This is not only helpful but personally it makes me feel part of my child's daily routine even after being away and busy with work. We absolutely loved SHA. I'm a first time mom and putting my 12 week old in daycare was such a nerve racking experience, but everyone there was so kind and my daughter had so much fun. The communication was great, the facilities clean, and the staff is always attentive and caring toward her. They were definitely a budget friendly option but you'd never know it from their level of service. She is now 13 months old and we are sadly moving out of state. Horrible place! My son was traumatized after only spending a few hours here. They left him in old poop with his pants half way down. He had sand in his eyes and mouth. When I picked him up he was crying and terrified and they left him alone in a corner crying like that on the first day while all the other kids were having lunch and watching him. They took hours to respond on the HiMama app. The owner Vik is a horrible person. I took my kid for ONE day and could not bring him back after what I experienced. I paid a months tuition and he wouldn't reimburse me after bringing my kid for only three hours on one day. The staff is horrible. He only hires young girls who have no clue what they're doing. The school is not kept up at all. The rooms were extremely hot when I picked up my son and all the kids were bright red and sweating. There are gnats and small flies inside. It's dirty and not sanitary. Definitely think twice before bringing your kid here. read more

Between our 2 kids, our journey at SHA was a total of 7 years. Throughout these years and through the changes that the school went through, there was consistency in the care and compassion that the staff and Vik had for the kids. The pandemic shut down the doors of many schools/childcare centers but SHA stayed open and implemented all the safety rules and precautions instead. I felt safe dropping off my daughter at SHA everyday. They followed all the guidelines that they were given by the State such as daily temperature checks, masks etc...My daughter still misses her teachers (Ms. Alyssa and Destany). Their at home feel is what stood out from other schools in the area. It was like walking into grandmas house vs a bright lite multi room place.
