Donors Beware!!!! I was court ordered by Warren County to…read morestay at the Hope House for over a month. I witnessed the corruption of this establishment first hand. The staff regularly takes the food donations for themselves. They also go through the clothing donations and keep the best items for themselves. This was witnessed by several of the residents, on more than one occasion. Residents Beware!!! The staff treats residents very disrespectfully. This is a locked down facility which does not allow residents to leave unless two staff members sign off on the request. People were denied doctor's appointments and church outings, while I was there. It is nigh impossible to search for gainful employment while staying here. Hope House staff regularly threatens to kick people out, no matter what the weather may be or if they have another place to go. Their justification is often petty. A place that claims to show the love of Christ, fall woefully short of that aspiration.

Fast forward to many, many months later. After my brother could not get a call back from admissions director, I left a message asking for status update because Mom now needed more care than Dad could provide. When she returned call, she said, coincidentally, that she was getting ready to call about a room opening. All we needed to do was take Mom to a pre-admission evaluation at the facility with nurses and admissions director. The day of the scheduled evaluation, the admissions director did not show up and did not have the courtesy to let anyone know she would not be there or why. The nurses were not friendly. When we had to follow up days later, we were STUNNED To learn Mom's admission was DECLINED due to her memory issues being "too advanced." WHAT??? Isn't that what memory care is? I can't help wonder if the next person on the waiting list had more assets. Don't let the name fool you.

The facilities are clean and well kept. They do an amazing job caring for my sister who has been there since 2002, in addition to Day Program. When our mother died suddenly, St. Joseph Home went above and beyond to provide support for both of us. They held my hand as I applied for guardianship, assisted with the transition and have been in constant communication regarding my sisters care. As her legal guardian, I have peace of mind knowing that my sister has the very best care around the clock from people I know and trust. They are very open to feedback and consistently reach out about day to day activities, health changes, ideas, and more. I'm grateful for the level of care & home they have made for Rachel. I'm truly thankful for the work these special people do daily.

I've been going to Mathew 25 ministries for the past 10 years and they continue to grow while…read morekeeping their mission the same. It is the best place to volunteer sporadically and they have a lot of open availability. This year I wanted to do something for my birthday, giving back to the community and I was able to organize an event for my friends to get together and do. It was amazing. We hung candy on Christmas trees for A-Kid-Again. And they were nice enough to throw in a tour of the grounds as well, which made it even more special.

There are SO many services offered here, from rent assistance to auto repair and they even have free tax prep once a year. If you ever need job coaching they have that too and free child care while your here shopping in their open door food pantry that operates Wednesday thru Saturday - Call for specific hours of operation. From time to time they offer a free health clinic with student nurses to check you out and get you better and they offer so many resources to the community. You could say this place is a one stop shop for all sorts of assistance and that's why I say this place is Awesome!!!...

There are SO many services offered here, to begin listing them almost seems like a futile pursuit! I went for job coaching and help with my resume. I have done this twice now, and both times, it has set me up in such a good position that I have gotten a job very shortly after my visit there! The atmosphere of the place is very relaxing, there is a cool little waterfall in the open area, and all of the classrooms and the prayer chapel are all very comfortable. That's a good thing if you find yourself in a position to need help. I would recommend anyone who needs just a little help to stop by here. You will be greeted warmly and will get to sit down with an assessor who will help you figure out what services you need. I'm thankful that I was able to get the help I needed and now that I am able to help others!

The parish that the Centennial Barn is connected to is a small Catholic parish that really does try to help the needy while serving their congregation. They even take in older people who are not able to take care of themselves. The Centennial Barn is actually a ministry of the church, as it brings in money to help support the overall budget of the parish. However, you don't have to be a part of the church to rent it for a function or even a wedding. The inside of the barn is really cool! It has strung white lights all over the inside, as well as white trim and big red doors that give the barn a classy but country feel. There are bathrooms on the first floor, as well as the second. There are stairs to the second floor with several rooms off of the main level that provide spots to have people dancing or serve food. The backyard of the barn is open with some room outside to have a live band or even some dancing. There is a cemetery in the back of the property.... but it is not really that noticeable. It doesn't take away from the feel of the barn -- but it is something to note.

The band had to set up downstairs by the dance floor. The bar, drinks, and gift table were also situated on the lower level. The guests were located upstairs. A few of the tables were in a different room than the wedding party which is not ideal since those tables could not see the wedding party. The food was also served in a different room. I actually kind of liked being able to lean on the railing upstairs while gazing down on the band and the dance floor. So, I can't say I really had a problem with the setup but I could see where not everyone would choose this option. There was also a nice patio out back that many enjoyed. It was a nice night, it was a little quiter and easier to chat with people than it would have been if we had been confined indoors. The place was nice, the service was fine, but I was a little disappointed that because of the cleanup process many of the wedding party could not go out after the reception.

I also noticed a bit of jewelry in a case up front next to the registers and I found a brooch I liked in there. I didn't have a lot of time today as my husband was with me and he is not much of a shopper. They did have quite a lot of shoes but they pair I picked up and thought I might buy were $20 and I really felt like that was too much. I will have to check this location out another time when I have more time but at first glance I did not like it as well as some of the other locations I have been to.
